My friend was like, omg, read this book! and I bought it for a dollar at a book fair. (her dollar, i forgot to bring any money)

Its about a boy, and his uncle takes him to this thing called a "flume" it takes him to another place and time, a world call Denduron. He has to help save it from falling into chais, allong with other people like him; who can travel to different worlds.

Yes, very much. But there are some parts with a boy and girl helping the other boy, but they are in our world, They communicate through notes the boy in the other world sends through a ring.

I could've sworn that I posted here... anyway, I've read most of the series. I stopped after Rivers of Zadaa, if memory serves... (I'm on Games of Quillan, I think; but I didn't care for the direction the story was heading).
Great book series. Kinda a sci-fi/fantasy mix. He does go to worlds that have greater tech (the second book, for example). I think I paid two dollars for the first one, and conned my parents into getting me the rest (not hard, my parents love getting books for their kids).

I liked the first one. It kinda resembles early human history, in a way.

But yea I could tell sci fi feeling bout it too, with the world changeing and the other world talking. Didn't feel like posting it cuz yea... laziness is a bless >.>
