'HELLO?!' Alan yelled. 'Anyone in here?!' Alan had hoped that his arrival would be noticed as soon as he opened the door but it looked like the place was abandoned. 'Damn... What the hell am i going to do now?'

"Calm yourself, son of Hartmut." Came the voice from upstairs, as the archsage descended the spiral stairs. "Time has not yet seen fit to deprive me of my hearing." He said with an old man smile.
He then moved across the room to a small table and sat down in a large chair. "Now, you have certainly made this perilous journey for a reason, why have you come here?"

'Calm isn't my style, old timer.' Alan said insisting on being the hot head. 'The dragon that left at our last meeting, the one I chased after has started a genocide on the people of Bern. I'm gonna need one of the legendary Weapons to stop him. Unless you're willing to stop him yourself.'

Athos looked at Alan through his milky white eyes.
"I see, so you wish to save your homeland? Even though you may well be fighting them all should you seek to finish this? You know if you plan to assault the castle, you would have to go through the streets, where you may wind up killing those people you so seek to save. What purpose will it serve to stop him if you will do the same thing yourself?"
He stood up and walked towards Alan. "Tell me, what do you plan to do different?"

Alan stared back at the man with his blazing red hot eyes. 'I don't walk, I fly. And killing the guards is a little different from burning the whole ****ing street. And my motives haven't changed, I have always been in this group to save my homeland, from it's own government. As long as Desmond sits on the throne, defeating the bandits won't change to much for us. Besides, I kill for what people do now themselves, in the present, that idiot dragon kill for whatyou and your lot did a thousand years ago. Don't even think about comparing me to him.'

Athos got up and smiled.
"Really? Because I see the same person. A brave warrior whose anger controls him. But if you are that determined I suppose there is no helping it. This in itself may be fate. Come with me, let us see if the Lance of Barigan agrees with you."
He retreated deeper into the tower, past a small screen of cloth.

Alan considered spitting on the floor as too voice his thoughts over Athos' remark but thought better of it and followed him quietly. 'So... You wouldn't happen to have chatched where my friends were going, did you?'

Athos responded looking forward. "Most of them have gone to the Western Isles to put a stop to Durban, while a small group is heading towards Bern to finish things there. I wonder if that was the right choice." He mused.
He had led Alan to one final door.
"Pass, and find out if you are worthy."

I suppose they're beyond my help now. Oh, well, nothing I can do... Alan took a deep breath and passed through the door.

The door sealed behind Alan. He would find himself in a torch lit room. A shadow in the far corner told him he was not alone.
The sound of metal armor clanging across the floor echoed from the far end of the room, and a loud voice spoke.
"Who do you serve?"

Alan started unsheathing his Steel Sword as silently as he could. 'Not anyone in particular.' I need better lighting to judge how tough he is. Alan slowly started to advance toward the other end of the room.

The figure remained unmoving, a lance held at it's side.
"The power of Malte belongs to the greatest of knights. And knights must serve others. We do not make the paths for ourself, we support those who do lead..."
It stood, as if watching him.
"I ask you again, who do you serve?"

'I apologies, but I disagree with your philosophy.' I know it's not where knightly to strike before getting provoked but I'm not planning to face any inner demons unless it's proven necessary. Alan pulled out a Spear and threw it at the figure aiming for it's chest.

The spear sailed through the air and pierce the image, which vanished like a puff of mist. As the mist faded and the legendary lance struck the ground, a voice filled the room.
Only the greatest of Knights is worthy to wield my Malte...

The door behind Alan opened and the archsage's figured stood there, illuminated by the light from outside.
"It would appear, that Barigan has found you lacking. He will not relinquish his spear to you, so what will you do now?"
