Kenshin cought the sword and swong it around a few times. "Lighter then it looks. A fine blade it is. You don't know the story of this blade? I heard it atleast a dozen times."

"Well...I heard voices on my head when inside the temple. They tried to say something, but since they talked all at the same time, the message was undecipherable."
"We have nothing to do, so why not tell us about it ?"
Matis sat down, and waited patiently for Kenshin to tell the story.

"Well the voices you heard was probly the gods. This blade is a scaried blade that was blessed by the gods. Before you took it the reason it sat in that shrine was people would go there before a journey and pray for success and safety. That's all I can remeber some of the travelers going thru our tribe saying.

"You there, you're little duel is going to start scum." Kenshin got up and everybody headed towards the courtyard. When they got there everybody was cheering for Fabis. "Ok, lets get this started." Kenshin had Matis' Mani Katti in hand as he got in posion. Fabis came chargeing in and Kenshin barely ducked as the lance went towards his gut. Kenshin sprong forward attacking and missed.

Matis and the rest had sat, leaning on a wall, sorrounded by guards, just in case they tried to do something stupid. They didn't cover the view, though.
"They are both fast. This match is probably gonna last long..." he whispered to the rest of the group.

Kenshin stood a few feet from the end of Fabis' lance. He brong the sword near his chest and strightend his arm infront of him with the end of the blade in his palm pointed at Fabis. Fabis lunged at Kenshin and missed. Kenshin drove Matis' sword into Fabis' shoulder.

Having followed the others up to the dueling grounds, Matthias watched the duel. Personally, he hoped that Kenshin shredded the over-bearing general, and that looked to be the way things were going. The Mani Katti (sp?) gave the Sacean an obvious edge over the general. However, the fact that the general used a lance, and a happened to be skilled put them on even ground. Or at least, it would be even. Matthias could just barely make out some shadows moving in the distance. Cautiously, he edge towards Matis, leaning in. "You see that?" He pointed to the moving shadows. "I'm thinking that Fabis is determined to win no matter what. That bastard's probably got assassins or something..."
Without his weapons (as they were removed when he went into the jail cell, unlike the lords, Matthias has no protection >.<), Matthias couldn't accomplish much. But the skilled lord might be able to pull something off.
OoC: I'm back! I had technical difficulties which prevented me from posting for a while... hopefully this place hasn't become a graveyard since I left...

Alexia had seen Calis's actions, and wasn't overly pleased by his insistance on continuing moving. She sighed to herself, muttering curses that she learned from a particularly mouthy archer. She'd have to find someone with an actual healing staff, maybe there was someone nearby. She noticed as she was leaving that some sort of duel was going on, but it wasn't any of her business. She had to find a healer, before Calis damaged himself permanently.

OoC: My weapon wasn't removed because...well, I don't know. So we'll just play along with that. But remember I gave it to Kenshin, and he also has the slim sword for the time being. So, I don't have a weapon either. And, just to have it make sense, we'll say that Albel also got his weapon removed.
BiC: Matis had heard Matthias' remark, and concentrated more on the background than in the fight itself. He trusted Kenshin's fighting skills, and with the help of the Mani Katti, he probably would be able to take most opponents down blindfolded.
Indeed, small shadows moved far from where they were, still, close enough to get in a second or two to where Kenshin and Fabis were fighting.
"Assassins ? It's a possibility. If they make any suspicious move, we'll jump, attack the guards, maybe take their weapons if we can, and stop them." he whispered to Matthias and Albel.
He hoped they were wrong, but general Fabis didn't seem like he'd want to lose, making it a big possibility.

Matthias nodded and continued watching the match. While he did so, his mind churned through the recent events. Sain appeared to have gone into hiding. A hiding lord meant a weak country. He had two options: Stick around, and try to see if whoever takes over is good; or bale, and head for someone who wanted him. Santaruz would probably be a good choice. Matthias rubbed his stubble in thought, as he continued to watch the shadows. Apparently, the assassins were waiting for the perfect moment to strike. That, or his mind was just playing tricks on him. He glanced over at Fabis, and took that last thought back. No way was that overbearing, stubborn bastard going to lose to Kenshin. He hoped that Albel could fight hand to hand, as he knew his own skills in that area sucked. Give him a bow, and he'd pick off each assassin one by one. Unarmed, he could only twiddle his thumbs...

Kenshin noticed the movement in the shadows. "I have my slim sword at my waste, Matis could help me out, I'm growing to tired to go on. Darn only if I had the proper time to heal." Kenshin slowly made his way towards the group of his friends watching. He quickly turned around and threw the Mani Katti into the wall next to Matis and took out his sword while dodgeing a few attacks then was hit from behind by Fabis.

He noticed too.
Without wasting any time, Matis picked the Mani Katti, and took down both guards that were too afraid to even battle back.
He didn't kill them, though. He had no reason to. He just knocked them out.
"Want me to make my move, Kenshin ?"
He noticed that the shadows had stopped moving. They probably weren't expecting this. Maybe that would make them attack sooner. There's no way to know.

Matthias curled his hands into fists as he watched the action. He cursed himself for not being any use without weapons. Quickly, he studied the guards, trying to see if any of them had his stuff. One of the guards stood in front of a box, which probably had their gear. He tapped one of them on the shoulder. "Shouldn't you be moving to detain the savages?" he asked, innocently. The guard had been stunned by Kenshin's and Matis's sudden movements, but Matthias must've jostled him into action. He moved to place a hand on Matis, and Matthias took the oppurtunity to roll sideways. He scooped up his short bow, long bow, and arrows. In one swift movement, he had an arrow nocked and aimed at the shadows. "Okay, I think we're on even terms; now, Fabis, let Kenshin stand up," the archer ordered. Fabis scowled. "What the hell do you think you're doing, ordering me around?" he barked at the archer. "you're an Ostian vassal!" "I quit! So suck it!" Matthis shouted back. Hopefully, the other two took advantage of the distraction.

Matthias had just made things even easier than they were already. The shadows that had been getting closer to Kenshin had stopped, and seemed to have their sight on Matthias, who was aiming at them with his bow. Showing off his speed once again, Matis ran past Fabis and Kenshin, dealing a mortal blow to one of the assassins. Upon closer inspection, the shadow had a poisoned dagger. "They have poisoned weapons, be careful !!" Matis shouted, calling the attenttion of one of the nearby assassins. OoC: Matthias, your turn to put an arrow through the shadow's head.

Two men fell from the shadows. Calis moved out of them holding his lance. "Sorry, Im late, but I brought some help." Several knights spilled into the courtyard. Calis approached Fabis and pointed his lance at him. "I now relieve you of you command over Ostia and demand to know what you have done to Lord Sain." Some knights surrounded Fabis, edging there weapons at him. Calis demanded again. "Where is Sain?"
