Calis finally spoke. "We evacuate the castle." Some knights opposed this decision. "Leave the castle? Never! We are here fighting for Santaruz. We can not just leave the castle to bandits." "Look! The castle is just a castle. It doesnt make Santaruz the people do!" Calis turned to his troops. "The half in the back, return to the caslte and get everybody out. The others will follow me to the village." Calis turned to Alan and whispered to him. "I want you to make sure that everybody gets out in time. Lead them to Ostia. The lord there should be of help." He leaned in closer. "And watch Alexia. Make sure nothing happens to her." He rode foward, as did the front half of the troops. He stoped and looked back. "Alan, im putting all of my trust in you." Calis turned around and took off in the direction of the village.

Alan raced off with half the army right behind him. It was the last race and the bandits had a head start, he saw that Marcus was waiting for the perfect time engage, Alan tried to signal but he saw it not. Alan pushed the wyvern to it's limits and got to Marcus just when he started riding. 'Back! Everyone, there are many more coming, Calis wants everyone to flee to Ostia!' He saw that Marcus wanted to object but he was already flying to the castle, shouting the retreat he went through the castle. Then he headed toward the burned village for they knew nothing of this. 'Marcus, this is no time to be bold! Get everyone out of here!'

Yeo felt the great jolt of pain of the axe whacking into his back. He fell to his knees trying to hold the pain inside. "Heh, pitiful" The bandit toke his axe and went around Yeo to his front side. "Your a good fighter. Its to bad you have to die here." He swung his axe back but he didnt get a chance to bring it back to Yeo's head. An arrow flow stright into the side of the bandits head. Yeo closed his eyes. He had hope that it was the end. He didnt want to stand the pain. He was falling unconscious but he could still hear the cheers of his men as they shouted. "Reinforcements!" "Lord Calis has come! Push the attack!" He last thing he saw was a horse stop in front of him and his lord jump off it.
Calis grabed him and put him on the horse. Calis jumped on as well while shouted the order for retreat. A knight ran up to him. "My lord! We have them greatly out numbered. There is no need to retreat." "This is not there main force. Now pass the order to retreat." The knight did as told. "Retreat! Retreat to Ostia!" The whole of Calis army moved away from the battlefield, heading in the direction of Ostia.

With Marcus behind him, Alan reached the burned village. They had already sent the army straight to Ostia. 'Everyone! We need to get to Ostia!' Before he could say anything else the two wyvern riders who he only just send there flied away. 'Wait, wait! Take passengers!' They were gone, he couldn't pursue because the wyvern he was riding was exhausted. It then hit him that Alexia's horse and Rath's wyvern were the only means to escape the bandits. 'Marcus take Flyssa and get the hell outta here, Rath take Miledy and head to Ostia. Matthias, Balin... We are going to have to hold them off.'

"what? Asked Matthias as he disposed of the last of their bandit group.
"What's this about us running away? What the hell? Are there really that many of them?" asked Matthias, then he remembered the second part. "Wait, you want me to help hold them off? The only Ostian vassal here?" He's been grumbling, but he was also looking for a good spot. He pointed to the top of a nearby building. "Well, since you're determined to kill yourself, this poor armored guy, and me out, we should probably make our stand here. I know that wyvern looks damn close to collapsing, but if you could fly me up there. From there, I can shoot the hell out of the enemy from a greater distance. Though, with this piece of crap," he held up the short bow that had served him for so long. "It doesn't look good."

'Balin, how is my own wyvern doing?' Alan said. 'His wing is scorched by that mage, he won't be any good to you in this state.' Alan sighed and flied Matthias on top of the building he wanted. 'We may not need to fight, Calis may ride through here with the rest of the army. We can hitch a ride then.'

Matthias looked towards the direction of the castle, peering over the other rooftops. "That may be, but there was this stupid ass thief prowling around here earlier..." as if the words summoned him, Danala appeared, darting out from a ruined village.
"aha! So you think that by gathering reinforcements you might win? This village will be your graves!" he waved his arm, and a massive number of bandits swarmed out. "We'll finish you off before the rest of the army gets here!"
"See what I mean, he's got mental issues or something," Matthias quipped to Alan. "Look, we just have to hold off this imbecile long enough for reinforcements to get here. I really don't see that being a problem, you don't strike me as being overly stupid."
Matthias let an arrow fly, and it landed in the chest of a bandit. The poor fool fell to the ground, while Danala danced about, fuming. "Where is that worthless knight?" as he called, the armor knight from earlier appeared. "Kill them, I have to go plunder."
"Hey, look, deja vu," muttered Matthias, notching another arrow. "hey, Alan, think you can catch the windbag?"

Alan resolved to ignore the archer and joined Balin in the front. 'What's your head-count? I guess the first wave would be about forty.' he said while getting on the other side of the gate. 'I would say thirty but from down here it is hard to see, I haven't noticed any knights coming this way. I have noticed Ilian mercs flying around, not to mention that band of nomads I ran into back at the castle!' 'Yes, this was long prepared, but here they come best of luck!' And thus, the battle began. Alan wasn't used to battle on foot and Balin could not hold out and slowly they were pushed back, inch by inch...

Matthias had been abandoned to stall at the village. He couldn't see Rath or Flyssa anywhere, and had no idea where they went. As for Alan, the man had abandoned him here, to face overwhelming odds.
"Well, I've got until they realize that the building I'm on is flammable," he muttered to himself, as he began picking off bandits. The fools had forgotten to bring their own archers, and any attempts to throw axes proved woefully inadaqeuate. The archer smirked as the bandits scurried for cover. Maybe, he could pull this off after all.

When they were pushed all the way to the inns door Balin shut them off with his shield, leaving Alan with a moment to rest. Alan looked around: the wyverns were resting, Heath's corpse was still dead on the table. Alan started barricading the windows. He hoped Matthias had enough arrows to pick most of them off.

Calis round the back of the castle. It seemed to be empty from his point of view, except for the occasional group of bandits still looting around. "My lord. We'll get it back one day." "I know. Come, we have to make sure that every village was evacuated." Calis, and a few knights that choose to go with him, had left the army to make sure that nobody was left behind. He had left the care of Yeo to one of the bishops. He continued around the castle heading to the next village.

Alan heard a bandit shouting about an attack in the back, so he yelled: 'Hold out for a little while longer, Balin!' 'What?' Balin turned his head around but then he was pierced with an arrow. 'Damnation! Saint Elimene, forgive me for what I am about to do!' Then he pushed Balin's heavily armored body back at the opening cutting him off from the bandits.
After a while of waiting Alan threw the body aside, he decided that he could not wait for reinforcements any longer and had to strike now. 'Let's see what you got, you thugs!'

Matthias saw the problems at the building. However, to get a decent shot, he'd have to make a long jump. He quickly did it, without thinking too much about the fact that he was risking his life. He hit the building hard, and barely rolled enough to save his gear. He quickly got to his feet, and started trying to shoot a path for Alan to get to his wyvern. Unfortunately, the acrobatics had damaged the already beaten bow, and he wasn't sure how many more shots it would handle.
OoC: I was fairly certain that you weren't that far away. If you are, just say so OoC next time, ignore this, and I'll change to picking off outsiders.

(OoC: I'm confused I'm moving off this topic >.>) Flyssa cowered behind the building, listening to the sounds of the battle around her. 'I'm sure no-one would want me getting killed...' She murmured to herself, trying to encourage herself to escape without guilt. She quickly darted past a few houses, reaching a hole on the wall surrounding the village. 'I better hurry...' She muttered, guiltily as she ducked out of the village, unbeknownst to the rest of the group.

Alan ran to Grimbold, seeing he was healed and mounted up. 'Let's teach these guys a lesson, Grimbold!' He flied right trough them, many stubled, more were killed. After gettingou of the house he flied to Matthias. 'Come on! We are getting out of here this instant!'
