Katara ran for two days on end, working on sheer adrenaline and only stopping for water a few times. She was so close to her goal. She could hear the peaceful night music in her mind, the loud bazaar, the beautiful stars... She collapsed. No matter how fast she ran, exhaustion caught up with her. So close... yet she couldn't move. Her legs would not obey her body. She dragged herself along with her arms until they stopped working as well. Then she lay there, sleep taking her.

Katara woke up on a soft bed. A familiar voice whispered to others, then said, "Are you awake?" "I think so..." Katara replied without opening her eyes. "We found you on the plains, passed out. You've been sleeping for a whole day, but you are safe here. We are the Tempuian, and I am Saul, their chieftain," the voice said. Katara's eyes snapped open. "Saul? Of the Tempuian?" Katara asked. "Yes, young one- Child, your eyes... I know those eyes, but t cannot be possible... it was so long ago..." "Father. It is I, Katara. I... I need from you a favor. The broken sword I brought, it is sacred, I need it fixed. I remember how good you were at those things..." Katara said, getting up and looking for the sword. "My daughter, returned... And Sokka? Where is he?" Saul asked. "We were not traveling together. Let me tell you..." Katara illustrated the past few years, starting with the meeting of Kana, then to the bandit attack, fighting at Santaruz and Ostia, Athos's chambers, and the journey back. He father sat there for a moment, speechless.

"... That... I am just glad you two are safe..." Saul said. "Father... While journeying, I met a man, our brave leader, Lord Kenshin... I... I words cannot describe the way I feel for him, and he... loves me as well," Katara said. "That's wonderful..." he father said half-heartedly, "first your sister, then Sokka, now you... Do not be lead astray by love. Shiani... she is--" her father stopped to wipe his eyes. "No... What is it, father?" "Damyan, he deceived us all. When they wed, bandits came... he was one of them. He took Shiani, saying now they were wed, she belonged to him," he finished. "Father..." Katara said, putting her hand on her father. He stood up, and she noticed how he looked. The looked withered and weak. She was almost as tall as him. "What happened to you?" she asked. "Nothing..." he coughed, "give me the sword. I'll make it better. I'll restore it to it's former glory' Her father took Falcatta and left the room.

Katara wandered in town while her father worked on the precious sword. "Well, you've grown up well, miss Katara," a voice behind her said. "Alivan!" Katara said, hugging her old friend and mentor. "It's been a long time... If it is not too bold, my I ask you to show me what you have learned of the sword on your travels?" Alivan asked. "I'd be delighted," Katara replied, unsheathing her lorn Blade. Alivan made the first move, running at her and whipping out his sword right as he got to her. Katara batted his sword away with a flick of her wrist. "Your good," Alivan siad. "Helping others save the world will do that to you," Katara smirked, swinging her own sword at Alivan. He blocked her sword just in time. The two continued their battle, inserting witty banter here and there. A small crowd formed, anxious to see what you learn when you disappear for almost five years. As the dust settled, all could see the winner. Alivan's sword lay in the grass, it's owner on the ground with Katara's boot on his chest. "It seems the mentee has outskilled the mentor," Alivan laughed. "Perhaps," Katara said, helping her old friend up. "I want to ask you something. The Moon Festival is coming up, and you would be perfect as our most honored guest," Alivan asked. Katara considered it a bit, and then answered, "yes. For you, old friend." "Right. In a few days, I'll pick you us at your father's house," Alivan said, getting his sword and waving Katara farewell.

Katara returned home to find her father taking a brake from working on the sword. "It's a stubborn blade, that one is," he said, "Taking a while to finish... It could take until the festival. You take my place in preperations, Kat," her father finished with a cough. Katara laughed at the sound of her family nickname. "Father, I haven't heard that name in years... Sokka always talked to me as Katara... But father, please rest. I'll do your work on the festival. You need time to relax... don't overwork yourself on the sword," she told her father. "But that sword... I feel that it's owner plays in important role in the fate of our world..." he father said before drifting off to his room. Katara stood in silence, amazed at how accurate he was,

Katara woke up the next day and ran to Alivan's house. "Hey, I thought I said I'd come pick you up in a couple days!" Alivan laughed when he saw her. "My father's working on something... he sent me to do his work for the festival," Katara responded. "Alright... your father usually helped with everything.. not just one job. Hmm... what should I have you do...?" Alivan thought," I know! You can help me. I'm trying my hand at cooking this year. Hope you're good, cause I'll need lots of help!" Alivan finished. Katara smiled, "after living as a nomad with Sokka for a few years, you learn fast!" she answered, "lets go!"

Katara was walking with Alivan to his house when she saw a familiar silhouette. "Is that...?" Katara asked, feeling strange upon seeing Kenshin's shadow. "What is it, miss Katara?" Alivan asked. "Nothing..." Katara said mindlessly. "You look stricken. The sun must have affected you a bit, it is quite strong around here. Take my arm," Alivan told her, offering his arm. Katara wrapped her arm abound the crook of Alivan's elbow. "Thanks you... I don't know why, but I felt faint..." Something told Katara to avoid Kanshin until the festival. The sword would be done then.

Most of the food would be made the day of the festival, so Katara and Alivan did mostly prep work for the more complicated and longer taking desserts and entrees. Katara did see Kenshin for another few days. The festival, and the sword's completion was getting closer.

Katara walked into her father's forge. "Father...? Are you here?" she said in the semi-darkness. The place was sweltering, and a large, dark furnace was the only source of light. "Kat?" he father said. He stood up from behind a curtain, "do you need something, daughter?" "No, I just wanted to know how you are... You've been in here for the past few days. Have you been eating? Do you have water? Katara answered. "Yes, I do... I am fine," her father told her. "You sound worried... What is wrong?" Katara asked. "Nothing, my dear... I just wish your brother and sister were here... It would be a fine family reunion," he answered. "Father... Sokka... he his coming. You will meet him soon... Along with his friend" Katara said. "Friend?" he father asked. "Very important friend... his..." "I understand... So, all my children have found love... I pry Sokka's and your's does not become what Shiani's has..." her father sighed. "It's okay..." Katara embraced her father.

As the festival approached, the village's mood grew more and more somber. Katara wondered why, and then remembered: it had been the day after the festival, when everyone was relaxing from he last night's festivities, the bandits attacked. This year would be the five-year anniversary. An anniversary of the destruction of their nomadic way of life, and the loss of many husbands wives, sons, daughters, mothers and fathers. Including Sabrina, Katara's own mother.

The day was upon them. As the day went by, the people became more relaxed. The stage was done, and it stood alone in the village square, decorated with great pride and hard work. Katara went to see her father. "Hello? Father?" "Ahh, Katara. This sword... It is done," her father unwrapped Kenshin's sword and held it out to her. It's so beautiful! This stone you set into the hilt is it...?" "Yes. It is from the family ring. The ring showing our attachment to Sacae. I thought it would be good for his sword, with him being Sacaen and you and him being... an item..." "Father... Thanks you. I'll present it to him as soon as I find him," she said, taking the sword and re-wrapping it. "I will see you at the festival. Kat," he father said, hugging her off.

Alan landed at the entrance of the town a little harder then he would have liked. He had flown far without sleep that night. It looked completely different then last time he saw it. Some sort of celebration was near. Alan dismounted and the wyvern and pegasus immatiatly took off, looking for water. Carrying Lyndsey Alan walked into town and realised he had no idea if there was an inn here or some place for travellers to stay.

While walking down to the inn, Katara saw a familiar face. "Alan!" she yelled, running over to him. With his huge armor and the fact he was carrying another girl, one who Katara thought she recognized, he was hard to miss. She ran over to him.
