Alexia smiled at the bantering. "Crazy woman" was a lot better than some of the names the other recruits had called her back during training. For some odd reason, women generally didn't volunteer to become cavaliers. So Alexia had been a minority, and the fact that Marcus liked her didn't help the recruits' opinion.
"Two on one hardly seems fair," she commented, hefting her hand axe from her belt. "Especially as we're testing you. Though it will certainly keep you on your feet."
She swung the axe nonchalantly, humming to herself.

Grinning at Raen's comment, Saru quickly sobered up. "Two on one isn't fair. But at my current level, I won't be much help when it comes ta the major fighting. I need ta get stronger, and fast," he said. "And if takin' you both on at once will help me get stronger, I'll do it."
He then cracked his neck and grinned while getting in a defensive stance. "Better watch out, milady. I may just surprise you."

Rolling her eyes, Alexia rolled her axe in her palm again. The weapon felt far more familiar in her hand than it had when she got it. Apparently she was adapting quickly to the new arm.
"Something tells me that you won't," she told him, though she smiled at him. "You'll have to go easy on me though, I'm used to fighting on a horse and covered in armor."
Which was true, for the most part. Still, you had to practice for any situation.

"Seriously Saru, don't take her lightly. You've seen her fight already" Matis said, almost laughing. "Sorry, couldn't resist it" he added. "Ready?" he finally asked, as he prepared to strike Saru once again. Doing a fast move, Matis threw one of his Javelins at Saru and ran forward to attack with his Steel Lance. OoC: For the record, the other Steel Lance I have should have a single use left before it breaks. Part of the reason I decided to drop it for the moment and start using the other lance.

Saru dove forward into a roll, avoiding the Javelin. As he quickly got to his feet, he noticed Matis closing in on him quickly with his lance. Rushing towards him, the mercenary began attacking once he was in range, going with a hard horizontal swipe. Saru only hoped that by the end of this sparring session he would still be able to move.

Having to stop abruptly, Matis managed to get the Steel Lance on the way of the attack, as it shattered to pieces, Saru's slash barely missing him. He then quick-stepped backwards, in hopes of avoiding any forthcoming attack.
"Talk about over-using..." he said, sighing. He went on to pick his other lance from the ground and got into stance yet again. "Nice move, by the way".

A pirate came to the practicing group, and walked up to the lady. "Ya're the beauty who needed a ride, ain't ya? Ain't much beauties on this isle, and most of them won't leave the isle. The cap'n wanted me to check on ye lot, he's got something important, so he's completely hyped about any help we can get."
They seemed like a fun bunch, worth the trouble. As long as he got his share of battle, he wouldn't care anyway. "Anyway, I am Abin, I am the lackey of our fair cap'n, since he only knows about the numbers and all. Now if ya excuse me, I think I need to go back to the ship, I'm getting a little dizzy. We'll leave when the sun sets. Cap'n is acting tense lately, bet he's got some important goods with him. Easy to read, that one, he only cares about the gold stuff ye landlubbers call gold..."
He walked of and turned around to wave midway, and started to walk again. These people could finally get him back into the real fights, like the old days. It had been to long already, since he really kicked the arse of his opponents, he'd be happy to help anyway who could get him his healthy amount of arse kicking for the time being.
(ooc: Sorry to interrupt so suddenly, I just need a group, and the situation seemed to be good for me to join up. If the timing is really bad, I'll just save the post for another time.)

Alexia had been watching the battle, paying more attention to the combatants than those around. However, she did notice the pirate approaching. She turned as he spoke to her, still holding the hand axe.
She nodded, taking in the pirate's words. It sounded like the captain had just sent someone to double-check who the passengers were. Which did a lot for the ship's creditability.
"Well, that bodes well," she murmured, turning back to the fight. She flung her hand axe at the mercenary, though she didn't aim very well.

When Saru's attack shattered the lance Matis was using, he was left off balance. Thankfully, he saw Matis retreat and get the other lance, giving him time to reset himself. He had caught sight of the pirate walking up to Alexia and heard him talking about their ride out of there. He had turned back to Matis, ready to continue, when he heard something whistling, cutting through the air. The mercenary barely turned in time to notice the hand axe coming for him. He jumped to the side, not quite avoiding the axe, which left a small cut on his upper left arm. 'Not good. That's gonna take away some power and speed while using both hands,' Saru thought. He resettled in a defensive stance, trying to keep both Matis and Alexia in sight.

OoC: Actually, perfect timing.
BiC: Matis heard the pirate's words and rejoiced. He knew the road all the way back to Santaruz wouldn't be easy or short so the more time they had, the better.
"Surely you are ready for what is to come I take it, Saru" he said, trying to keep focus on the battle. Alexia's hand axe had barely missed him and made it's way towards Saru, who managed to only get a small cut from it. "Hey, watch it!" he said, and lunged forward, hoping to get through Saru's defenses with a series of stabs.

Seeing Matis burst into motion, the mercenary brought his sword up and started to deflect the strikes. Unfortunately, the small wound from Alexia's hand axe caused his reactions to slow slightly, and even though the stabs were deflected, they still managed to slice his arms. 'I can't keep this up,' he thought. 'He's too fast and I'm slowin' down.'
Taking a chance, Saru jumped forward at the same time Matis thrust his lance at him. Twisting as the lance hit him, the mercenary suffered a slash to his right side, causing him to involuntarily drop his sword and let out a grunt. Trying to ignore the pain, he locked the lance between his side and arm, and sent a punch right at Matis' face.

Having lost grip on his lance, Matis stumbled backwards from the blow, falling down to the ground. Quite the punch indeed. As soon as he got up, though, he noticed Saru's state. They had overdone it. He had cuts on several parts of his body.
"Saru! Are you okay?" he said, getting up, nose bleeding from the hit. He got close to the mercenary,

"Heh heh," Saru mumbled. "I'm fine Mat-" Before he could finish he fell down, staring up into the sky. "Ouch," was all the mercenary said as he layed there tiredly. "I think I may 'ave overdone it. Just a bit. Ah well. At least it was fun," he said absentmindedly, not noticing he was voicing his thoughts.

Katara ran out of an inn. She had spent a lot of time thinking until she heard the noise. She ran over to two children who had been watching the battle. A pirate was running at them. "Get inside!" she yelled at the kids, running to intercept the man going after them. She drew her sword and lunged at the pirate, yelling at the top of her lungs.
OoC: I have to get back into this...
