Father, have you ever noticed how wonderful the sky is in the wake of day? It is made up of so many different colors and shades that it appears to be a depressing gray, but if one were to simply give it a chance, they would see it like I am right this instance. It's truly beautiful.
In the early morning before the birds awaken to greet the day, there is silence. Normally it is no different on the dirt road that a young lady was following, but this morning her trekking footsteps were making a very soft crunch in the early frost. Her breath was making a sound, aswell, but such a silent sound that none could hear it 'cept if they leant one inch from her mouth. And her thoughts, were they audible, would be the loudest noise of all. The young traveller was thinking a message to her deceased paternal family member as though it could reach him like a prayer. I wonder if it's true that angels are what make the sky so lovely, like you told me? Furthermore, I wonder if you became an angel and are lighting my path for me in this brightening morning? Oh, father, there is so much I am curious of. That was the reason I was so adventurous, like you told me mother was. I am too fragile to be a fighter, and I am not strong enough to hold a weapon, but I shalnt let my weaknesses stop me from discovery. Are you proud, father? Can you feel my passion like an aura?
There were so many strong and deep thoughts flowing and waving inside the young maiden's head, that she had no mind to pay attention to where she was heading. Her feet slipped off the path a little and one of them put themselves right on a sharp stone. The blade-like rock pierced through the girl's cheap boot and cut her foot. Her high-pitched voice conjured a shrill scream at a very high volume, which allowed it to echo around the clearing, making it audible to anyone with ears within a kilometer.
Much closer than a kilometer to the young woman, though, was the temporary camp of a group of bandits. The loud scream that was not fifty metres away from her had woken one of them from a snoring slumber, and he growled. Seeing the woman, he instinctively shook one of his partners awake, and together they sluggishly got up and grabbed an axe to a man.
The girl on the path was naïve to this, and simply sat on the dirt route, wiping the blood from her foot with a clothe so she could heal it properly. She was so intensly into her work that she could not hear nor see it from the corner of her eye the two bandits sneaking up on her.
One of the greasy men slapped his hand over her mouth and grabbed her waste from behind, while the other appraised her. "Yar..., I figure she'll be worth a some'in'," the appraising bandit growled to his fellow criminal. The young girl squealed and struggled in the man's grasp, but she couldn't escape. He held his giant axe up to her throat, threatening her. "Listen 'ere, lass. No resistin', and this 'ere axe won' slice you 'part." And with that, he knocked the side of her neck, letting her fall unconciously limp.

"Stop right there, bandits!" A man dressed in bright red colors jumped down from a nearby tree. He had a red bandanna covering his eyes. "Let the girl go, or else I'll have to teach you some manners." The bandits looked at the man with interest. "You is gonna beat us without sight? We'll let you know who you're dealing with!" The bandits came toward the man, stomping the ground. The man clearly heard every footstep, their breathing patterns, the whirring of their axes through the air. They were going easy on him, he knew it. He dodged one axe and felt the wind blowing past it. "Eh?" the bandit sounded startled. The bandit hesitated, but the red-clad man slashed his sword at the bandit. The bandit wasn't dead, but angered. "We'll come back for you, and the girl! Let's go!" They ran off angrily as the man sheathed his sword.

Is this death, father? Is this truly the end? Am I going to be making the sky beautiful with you and mother soon?
Death was a lot less peaceful than the young maiden thought. There was no wings, no halos, no shafts of light. No judgement. Just black and nothingness. Black. And nothing else but that. Silence. Dreary darkness. She would sigh if she could, but there was nothing to say, and nothing to do. This could be it. It had to be death. Plain and simple.
Except, the cleric didn't want it to be. She wanted to believe in another life, where those who were horrid got their punishment and those who were saints got their reward. And so, she didn't leave it at that. She fought the black abyss the best she could, pushing away from it and fighting for light. Fighting. Fight.
Luckily, her fighting was just the trick. The darkness began to drain back to small shadows, and light trickled in slowly. Before long, the girl had come to, and awoke to a stone pillow and a grassy bed. She looked around with a squinted expression, trying to figue out what was going on.
Then, she heard some terrible profanity and threats coming from familiar rough voices. She turned her head so that a man came into view, but he was slightly fuzzy. A red blurr was over the place where the girl assumed his eyes should be. He had just dodged an incoming attack from a large, dirty man, who was now retreating with his equally huge and disgusting partner.
In awe and confusion cocktailed, the young girl stared at the man in the bright red. Eventually, she snapped out of it and tried to push herself up, but her side hurt so badly that she gave up and felt herself fall back onto the grass bed. Pain. Hurting so badly. So painful.
The maiden clutched her staff tightly, trying to remember a spell but only getting haze.

The man heard the grass rustle as the girl who screamed, (At least, he assumed that was her), stood up. He heard a loud thump, perhaps the bandits hurt her more than he first thought. He kneeled at her side and lifted up her back to help her sit up. "Hey, are you okay? You're lucky that I could hear you screaming, my eyes are away right now." A bird cawed in the distance. "Oh, what do you know." A falcon landed on his shoulder, its eyes seemed to glow in the dim light. "Go tell Bill that we're going to have a visitor today, k?" The falcon cawed as if to say, "Ok," and flew away. "Man, it sure is early, can you walk?"

He was on patrol again...and it was getting dark. Tensions had been rising over the years, and Rayl often found himself stacked with more work. But he didn't really complain or anything, for this was his purpose in life: to keep the world safe. He patted his horse on the side, who snorted a response, while the rider smirked,"Yes, I agree with you Elibe, we'd better finish up this sector before returning home."
They continued on for awhile, before they both heard a scream at some point in the distance," What was that?!" he had his lance at the ready, while his horse shook it's head in a simple response," Quite. We better check in, obviously." with this he rode off and into the distance.
Evenually, in the fading light, the knight caught sight ( ugh all those rhyming words. <_< ) of two figures before them, and so quickened their pace to come up to the others," It is dangerou to be out at this time! You must return home before it gets too dark!" he spoke in an authority and pretigious voice that even today after five years surprised him, and his horse seemed to snort to supress a snicker," Shut up you old nag, you." he smiled affectionatly and patted his old friend again, before returning to the task at hand," Shall I accompany you all back to your town?"

"I think we'll be okay." She didn't respond to his question, so he assumed she couldn't walk. The man in red lifted up the young maiden, by her back and legs, and carried her toward the bakery which wasn't far. He didn't turn to look at the horseman, but said, "You are welcome to come if you wish, I'm taking this poor girl to a friend of mine's bakery. She was attacked by bandits." The young girl was light, so it was easy to carry her. He knew the way back by heart, so there was no running into trees on accident.

(OOC:What no shaggy Rayl?) First thing Aleth was simply trekking on the road towards her next stop. Pherae, she believed, after finally being able to read a map. However a shrill shriek of off in the distance, changed her relaxing walk to a quick dash. For some reason, she can't help to see whats going on. It sounded with so much distress, that she practically shook in her boots. With her left hand ready to draw her sword and her light armor clanking recklessly as she went, she managed to find the source of the trouble.
"Hello! Is there some sort of problem?" hollered Aleth, her lost arm hidden under her cloak.

So many people! He hadn't realized just how many people walked through the woods early in the morning. "The danger's over," he said once again what had happened, "I'm taking this young girl that was attacked by bandits to my friend's bakery." He continued to walk toward the bakery, regardless of whether or not the other two followed. His mind wandered back to before he became blind. How's everyone doing? Did Boss survive through the battles? Regardless, he was getting closer to the bakery, the sweet breads could easily be smelt.

"No it's alright madam, this man here has taken care of the situation. I will be escorting them back to their bakery." the knight couln't help but stare at the woman who had just arrived...there was something...about her voice. However, he let that oddness pass, as he followed behind the man in the red and blindcloth-
Wait, what?! How could he have NOT noticed that...oh well, h wasn't one to judge, he'd seen people compensate for disabilities before. But enough of reminiscing ( and bad spelling >_< ), hmm?

"I'll come along, need to get into the town anyways." Aleth admitted. Though as she stared at the cavalier, their was something...familiar about him, but what was it? Pushing the thought aside, she trudged along a bit, still not quite used to the little off-weight at her arm.
Finally remembering her manners, she asked,"So what are your names? I would give my first, but men goes first in my book." Carefully, she removed her hood, to reveal long flowing snow like hair, her sapphire eyes ablaze with interest. For some reason, she felt like there might just be something interesting about to start.

"My name is Ralph Meglane." he said, "I don't know the girl's name, she fainted before I got here." He trudged on, blissfully unaware of what was about to happen behind him.

Right when the woman lowered her hood, Rayl froze, and almost dropped his lance...it couldn't be, and yet, there she was. The knight paused, not sure what to say, although he then smiled," Its been awhile, Aleth. It's me, Rayl." his horse whinnied, semming to remember this particular person. However, his smile soon faded when he finally realized another thing: over the five years, she'd lost something, and so extended his free arm ( ow the irony there)," Need a lift?"

After the blurry images, there were voices. The half-out-of-it young maiden couldn't exactly tell what the voices were saying, but she could tell that there were two masculin and one feminin voice. None of which seemed very familiar. As the cleric was lifted from her stoney bed, she felt a warmer and softer surface under her legs and back. Was she being carried? By who? To where? Even though the girl knew she should feel worried, she couldn't bring herself to give any emotion other than relief. Besides, it wasn't like she had anywhere to go, anyway. She wasn't going anywhere in particular and there was nothing left to hold on to but her own life, which wasn't exactly important to her as it was when she had a family and a home to speak of. Suddenly, something hit her. It was hard, and it was painful. Her head stung like a knife was slicing her skull clean open from the inside. Her heart was beating like she had ran many a mile without rest. Her breathing was suddenly rapid. It was surely a panic attack, which was also mingling with the pain from hitting her head off the rock when she fell. The attack sure came without warning, too. She had been fine until then. But it came, and it came quickly. The cleric grabbed the closest thing to her and moaned in pain, clenching her weak fists as hard as she could, which only made her hurt more. Ever since her father had died, she had suffered from frequent panic and anxiety attacks, but she had never one so painful.

For a second perhaps, Aleth was trapped in her mind. Everything that happened five years beforehand seemed clearer than, for a moment she wasn't sure what to do. At one point within time she wanted Rayl to suffer, but that was not possible. It was best to leave the past as the end, nothing more than a nightmare. Than she wanted to scream where was he for the past few years, but than again no one knew where she had been.
"Umm," she searched all over her mind for words, but nothing really came. She was actually relieved that the girl Ralph was carrying began to stir.
"You can carry her, we need immediate medical attention."

"No I'm sure our comrade here has her well protected." It is odd really, that while she was more shocked than anything, Rayl was rather happy to see an old face, as he hadn't been able to see the others in Sacae for awhile. Still smiling, he kept his right hand out, the offer to give her a lift still standing, while he looked up ahead and into the setting sun: how far was it to this man's village...night time had also seen a dramatic rise in bandit incidents, and the last thing he wanted was for them to get in trouble, especially now that he had become reaquainted (sort of) with an old friend.
