Matis, Kenshin, Katara and Dirk, among others, had moved back to the plains of Sacae, and after traveling for a while set on a spot not far from the eastern coast.
Matis had thought that said location would give them the chance to fish, farm and hunt for a living. The closeness to Bulgar was, too, an advantage, as they could set up a trade route with ease and get provisions in times of need.
Not two years later, the new village already had over a dozen of citizens. Things were looking good.
One day, in the middle of Autumn, while Matis was on his walk through the nearby fields, as usual, he posted a man clad in armor riding a horse, approaching their location. Not able to separate from his trusty sword, Matis had taken to carrying it with him whenever he left his house, and clung to it once he saw that the man did not alter his course.
"Who are you, and what do you need?" he asked the still approaching man.
"I come in the name of his Highness, Sir Kraft of Etruria. He demands to know whether this pathetic village believes in St Elimine and his Highness himself."
"Kraft? Where have I heard the name bef- That's it! The soldiers that attacked us back then on Etruria. One of them mentioned his name, claiming that he was their "savior"...
Matis snapped back to reality. "To what ends?". "Depending on your allegiance, you might or might not be spared. Regardless, a place as worthless as this won't get the "pass", even if you were the strongest devotees in the land".
