It was in the dead of night when Denzel finally drew close to what appeared to be the village in question. That is to say, it was the only thing that was beckoning him with burning houses. He had ridden hard and fast but now that the moment was actually near his hands were trembling, training or no this was going to be his first time in live combat. He could tell his horse was getting uneasy as he sensed his masters lack of confidence. Denzel breathed out slowly. He then gripped his lance tighter and set off again.
He approached the village and carefully went over his actions, there was no way he could just scout the enemy, not in this light. The best he could do now is go towards the screams and start dispatching bandits. He passed a few houses and then found where some villagers were assembled. Without hesitation Denzel charged at a guard with his lance aiming for his head. Dully the bandit noticed him and prepared to defend itself, having no time to grab his axe the bandit attempted to stop the lance from entering his skull by grabbing it by his bare hands. It worked. That is to say, he actually grabbed the sharp end of the lance with both his hands. it was enough to send Denzel into a short stunned silence. Stupidly the bandit laughed through pain. 'Muhahah, what're ye gonna do now huh?' Denzel snorted and responded by applying pressure again. It took some willpower to not avert his eyes as the lance through through the mans hands and into his head. though grimly pleased at his victory Denzel may have throw up at the sight of his first kill had he time to. BANG! He was interrupted by a brute force slamming into him. He knocked off his horse and hit the ground harshly with his head. grogy he looked up as a bandit even more filthy then the last loomed over him. Apparently he had snuck up behind Denzel and then body slammed into him. 'Huhaha, Laus' soldiers are a joke.' Having let go of his lance when he was thrown off his horse Denzel raised his force and tried to punch the man several times his size. His fist was caught easily and the bandit showed him how it was done with his other hand.
Denzel was slowly drifting out of consciousness as his head was met by the brutal strength and then hit the ground again. Damn it all. Denzel thought defiantly.

It was daybreak before Wyatt and the others arrived by the burning village. Wein had caught up with them quickly, his being a better horse and him a better rider. They had made small camps each night to let the horses rest, and Wyatt wondered if Denzel would be alive by the time they got here...
And here they were. Standing over the ruins of a town, bodies strewn about the streets.
"This is..." Wyatt tried to form the words, but they wouldn't come. "We need...to find Denzel...he might..." He didn't let the though finish and dismounted from the horse, looking over the wreckage.
"The bandits may still be here...or they could have left...I don't know...What should we do?"
It would really be helpful to have a natural born leader like a knight here.

Wein hopped off of his horse. "Just like before..." said Wein, trailing off. He could never get used to the sight of so many wasted lives. So many hopes and dreams gone unfinished, or unsung. He pulled his bow from his back and undid the ribbon binding it, his bow snapping open and locking into place.
"Bandits tend to hang around and plunder for awhile, or enjoy their 'spoils'," he said, scowling at the last word. "There's no profit in just killing everyone." He turned to his horse. "You wait here," he said, hoping the horse knew what he meant. He pointed at the ground just to make sure.
"Hurry, we've got to find the kid," said Wein, turning to his companions.

"I-I'm sure there are bandits still here, waiting to ambush anyone that might stumble into this place..." Lilith said without paying attention. She was still taking in the bloody scene. She had never been on the scene of a battle before, but this place looked like the scene of a slaughter. "Let's follow Wein, he seems to know a few things about this," Lilith said, turning her attention to the group.

Wein lead the way in, but their entrance was not missed by the inhabitants of this ruin. No sooner then Wein had passed the first ruined building, then a large axe wielder came flying out of the debris at him. Wyatt was about to turn when he noticed something on the other side, and instead turned the other way so he and Wein were back to back. A pincer attack? This wasn't a good place to start a fight.
The axeman charging him did not have his axe raised for a swing yet, and Wyatt didn't waste time to bring his down on the bandit's head.
And his arms jerked when the shaft collided with the brigands own mid swing. The surprise lasted but a moment as Wyatt pushed down with all of his might, feeling his muscles stretching. And he was losing ground as his axe was pushed back, towards him and his head. The bandit's axe was so close he could see his own breath fogging it up, and Wyatt didn't have good grip on his axe to apply more force. Still he pressed on the power, his muscles on fire, but the axe only moved closer and closer to him, as his eyes began to widen.

Selk tried his best to run what was going on through his mind and come to a well processed and usable conclusion. Whether he was successful or not hadn't been determined yet. He knew that Wyatt was in serious trouble and Wein seemed to be able to handle himself quite well. That in mind, he, with lance in hand, lunged for the flank of the brigand that was attacking Wyatt. He had hoped to hit a vital area that might down the fiend in one stroke, but he wasn't so skilled or so lucky. His lance did manage to strike the side of their foe's shoulder and pierce up to where the handle of the lance began and the point ended. If anything, the bandit would lose some strength, maybe even enough for Wyatt to get the upper hand. "Get off my friend, you honorless thug," Selk said in a frustrated manner to the bandit as he put all his might into shoving his lance deeper into the bandit's shoulder.

Wein, not noticing the other disturbance, reached for an arrow, about to help the boys fend of the bandit, but he was blindsided by another smaller bandit wielding a knife. The bandit knocked him over, causing Wein to drop the arrow and cutting his chest in the process. Lifting his arm, the bandit drove the knife towards Wein's neck, but Wein grabbed the bandits forearm. He struggled to keep the blade from touching his flesh. While pushing against the bandit, Wein groped for the arrow he dropped, and grabbing it, drove it into the man's back. It wasn't a deep wound, but it got the bandit to roll of of him. The bandit pulled out the arrow and clambered to his feet while Wein backed off, notching another arrow then firing it at the bandit, hitting him in the right shoulder. The bandit stumbled backwards, and Wein fired another arrow into his chest. The bandit gasped and fell over, face down. Notching another arrow, Wein turned back to help Selk and Wyatt, but another bandit with a sword came rushing him. "Another one?!" he gasped.

Lilith rolled over beside Wein and pulled out her tome. She held her hand out at the already wounded bandit and shouted, "Azu rath, metrione zenthos!" and a small ball of pure darkness collided with the man's chest, sending him back a few feet. Lilith smiled. She felt both invigorated and tired from her magic. The casting of an offensive spell took its toll on her, but she was ecstatic to finally be able to try her new powers. Her mind ready and her hands crackling with energy, she sent another ball at the man, and he crumpled to his knees. This time, Lilith had to stop and catch her breath. She legs felt like jelly. "Wein, are you okay?" she asked.

Wyatt was at his limit strength wise when the lance pierced through the bandits shoulder, startling him. It startled the bandit more though, he Wyatt's force quickly pushed the axe back and to the side as he regained a solid grip on his axe. If he missed this chance he wasn't likely to get another. With a shout he lifted his axe high, and brought it down towards the bandits collar bone, connecting near the top and slicing into the neck. The axe came clear with a splatter of life blood, and the body slumped as Wyatt turned towards Selk.
"Ha...ha..."He panted, exhausted by the life-threatening encounter. "T-thanks." He managed to stammer out.
The second bandit was knocked over by Lilith's casting, which allowed Wein to put his arrow right through his skull. After he fell, all was silent in the area. No more bandits came...
"That can't be it...can it?" Wyatt asked, hoisting his axe again.

As thrilling as that was, Selk did not enjoy the aspect of combat that involved risking your own life and the lives of those who are with you. He did, however, enjoy getting to finally put what he'd conditioned for into good use. "Don't worry about it, Wyatt. When Sir Denzel ran off on horse back I'd already decided that I'd definitely not let anyone here get in over their head. Although I don't want to encounter any more enemies here than is required to get our friend back." Selk spoke with a smile a slightly fevered breath since he'd had to put all his might into that stab. "You alright over there, Wein?"

Wein brushed the dirt off of himself. He looked at his jacket. He had gotten a bit of blood on it. Darn. "Yeah, I'm fine," he replied. He put a hand on Lilith's shoulder. "Thanks for the help, Lilith. Looks like it tired you out a bit, though." There was a touch of concern in Wein's voice. He looked around. "That looks like the last of this band, but it would have taken a lot more to sack a village this size. We need to stay on our toes. Is everyone alright?"

Wyatt's mind was racing, but he started speaking without even realizing. "Back home we'd always have to chase the wolves off in groups, the first wave was always the loudest though. It was to..."
His eyes widened slightly as he realized what he was saying. "..warn the rest of the pack...We need to get off the open street, and fast. If they find us, they might use hostages."
His heart was pounding, but now he needed to think clearly. What should they do, where was the bandit hideout.
"If only we could find out where they are holding up, but I can't see through all this wreckage..."

Lilith's training and years of meditation allowed her to keep a leveled head and an even heart rate. If not for her strict training, she would be just as anxiety-stricken as Wyatt, or even worse.
"Everything will work out, Wyatt, just breathe. In, out. In, out. I'm sure once we start searching through the houses we will find some survivors. Perhaps they will know where the bandits came from, and we can rescue Denzel. I do hope he is okay," she assured the axeman.
Lilith touched Wyatt's hand reassuringly. She may not be the most battle-ready or experienced, but she knew how to calm others and stay calm herself. That was, after all, the way of the magician.

He couldn't lie about it or hide it...Selk was worried. Still, something about the rush of battle kept him aware of his surroundings. "Unfortunately I think Wyatt may be right. We need to find some cover..." Selk had lived on a farm his whole life, so he knew what Wyatt was talking about when it came to the wolves. "We need to stick together, though, so if we take cover it has to be somewhere that we can all go."

Wein took a small perch and peered over the landscape, and his eyes fell on what was obviously the mayor's, or whatever they called him here, manor. He scanned the outside, and a small grin split his mouth. A shattered window caught his eye, nothing odd there. Except that there was a small pile of broken bottles outside of it. Wein visualized the action that would have caused that, drinking in a chair, finish the bottle, toss it behind you, and out the window.
"There." He said quietly pointing. "They are in that big house, or at least they were. Come on, follow me and we'll go check it out." After all, the archer would naturally be the best scout, his eyes and ears were already a step above the rest.
As he walked down the debris filled streets, he ducked and weaved behind any cover he could find. He had made it within about 50 feet of the house when he could hear the tell tale shouting and carousing that betrayed the bandits presence. He motioned for the group to stop and approached to peek in a window.
Wyatt, for his part, had been following silently. He was embarrassed to be shown up by Lilith on remaining calm, and was determined to not make that mistake again.
