Unfortunately for Selk, Wyatt was no longer near him. As soon as Denzel gave the command to get to Lilith, he was off to assist.
Wein's arrow had a double effect though, indeed it did drop the axe using bandit, but it did pierce through the thin veil of darkness that had been keeping the bandits cautious. Seeing the veil being all show, the archer who had been whacked with an rock knocked an arrow of his own. He leveled it down at the shaman, determined to make it count.
It was at that point Wyatt made his entrance, jumping over a small crag of rocks and bringing his axe down. The archer turned his bow to attempt to block it, but the wooden short bow had no hope of stopping the axe, which found itself embeded in the archers chest.
Wyatt had little time to feel proud before the sword using bandit approached him with a leaping slash. Wyatt tried to pull back, but the axe was stuck. He let it go, unfortunatly, and jumped back. He was slightly too slow though, as the sword cut shallowly across his chest.
"Ugh." He grunted, taking another half step back as the swordsman readied for another attack, and his axe was still a few feet away.

Denzel didn't hesitate and sped up the road. He couldn't see Wein or Yaen from here but they were surely nearby. No matter, he could already see a group of bandits making their way down the road too. Denzel pushed his horse to go even faster. I have to dispatch these guys, by myself if I have to if we don't want to lose any hope of escaping.

Yaen unsheathed his second sword as the bandits started the attack. They looked relatively safe, but everyone down below didn't exactly seem to be in the best spot. Should he leave Wein to help them, or should he stay and protect the archer?
"Wein, watch yourself!" he warned, before beginning to descend towards the others, along with the small horde of bandits they were fighting. He was totally unaware of the bandit that had headed towards Wein, and now wasn't close enough to even notice.

OOC: Just how many bandits are we dealing with anyway? I'd guess at around 5 or 6 at the south group, but Lion's share sounds like it could be more like 10 to me IC: As Aaron proceeded, an event which one would expect to read about in tales of great battles came into view. Standing alone on the path ahead, a lone lance fighter in armor (a knight perhaps?) held his ground against a number of charging bandits. One bandit was already groveling at the feet of the feet of the...wait a minute! That Lance wielder was certainly more talented with a spear than Aaron was, but he certainly hadn't accumulated the predatory grace which the masters of their weapons had. I've got to do something to help Aaron thought Aaron looked around quickly and, not seeing anything else to do at hand, leapt out onto the path in plain view of the bandits and yelled while hurling a fireball. I'll probably regret that soon Aaron thought as the bandit was engulfed in flames for a moment. Screaming, the bandit flailed his arms as his vest caught fire. Some of the bandits turned and saw their new adversary. Aaron thought it was time to charge the enemy, just not towards the enemy. maybe he could take cover in a crevice along the cliff somewhere.

Lilith shrieked as she saw A bandits holding a knife to Wein's throat. She would not let down the first person she met in the group, the first person to show any kindness towards her since leaving Etruria. She raised her hand to the sky, her mouth moving rapidly, muttering harsh syllables in some dark tongue. A great dark ball gathered around her hand, growing bigger than her torso. She sent it hurtling into the ground, where it seemed to vanish.
If the bandit holding Wein had been writing about his time, he would write about feeling the ground beneath him shake for a moment, then stop, after the girl he was looking at drew some black ball of energy from nowhere and threw it into the ground by herself. Then he would describe searing pain sprouting from his core, spreading to every cell in his body. What did that tiny girl do to him?!
Lilith watched as the bandit dropped his dagger and crumple to the ground, twitching now and then. After casting the spell, she felt a wave of fatigue roll through her body. She let the vein of darkness fall from around her, and she made her way over to Wein. "Wein! Are you alright?!" she yelled to the archer.

Malachi swung his lance vigorously at the bandits. "Get back! Or I'll slaughter ya all!" He yelled as the bandits kept creeping closer to him. He felt the ground crack under his feet. Malachi looked behind him to see that he was at the edge of the rock he was standing on top of. "Just one more mission Malachi,""How hard could it be Malachi" I just had to take it... Malachi jabbed his lance at one of the bandits, cutting him. Sweat ran down his forhead, he could feel himself breathing harder and faster, his blooding moving quicker. He swung his lance hard at the bandits, "Come on! Why don't you..." He felt a klunk as something pierced the back of his armor. He screamed in surprise and stumbled to the ground with a large thud of his armor.
The bandits looked around in amazement and confusion. The walked past Malachi and looked the the rock. They then turned around and ran down, having obviously seen something. Malachi looked up to see the last bandit running down. He slowly stood up on his knees and looked around in confusion, then reached around his back and pulled what had hit him out of the back of his armor and then looked at it."An arrow?" Malachi crushed the arrow in anger, "Those filthy bandits, attacking me while my back is turned..."
He looked down the rock in the direction where he had been hit."I'll...!" Malachi started to yell but then stopped himself, seeing the group bellow the cliff."People? All the way up here?" He watched them quietly as they were attacked by the bandits."Should I help? They seem pretty strong, it wouldn't hurt..." Malachi talked aloud to himself for a minute. He then stood up and ran down the cliff, following where the bandits had gone: after the group.

Wein pushed the bandit off of him and stepped towards the approaching Lilith. "Yeah, I'm alright. Thanks for the save." He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "That's a pretty potent piece of magic you've got there." Wein took another look at Lilith. She looked exhausted. "Looks like it takes a lot out of you." Wein put his hand on Lilith's shoulder. "Just stay near me while you get your energy back."
Wein looked to where the bandit he had struck had been. Wyatt was fighting the swordsman bandit. Wein, not skipping a beat, fired another arrow, striking the bandit in the foot. The bandit howled and stumbled. Turning, Wein saw a bandit charging at him, and, not having an arrow notched, had no choice but to attempt to dodge the bandit's axe blow. Wein leaped away, getting a long gash down his side, and landed on his back as the bandit redoubled his efforts. Wein kicked the bandit in the crotch and swept his legs out from under him. He got to his feet and kicked the axe out of the bandit's hand.

Selk noticed that both of his comrades had rushed off to aid their other friends. Alright. This is it. Everyone is counting on me. Even though I'm outnumbered and outclassed...I can't give up. If I can hold them off for just a few moments...That's all they'll need, I'm sure.
As Selk's mind races, his thoughts are suddenly shattered by a yell from behind the bandits and then a bandit bursting into flames and running off to one side from the group. The rest of the group turned to see their new attacker. An opening! Thanks, whoever you are. You might have saved me! He thought as he held his lance in front of himself like a long bar. It was nearly three times as long as his shoulders were wide. He would then charge towards the distracted bandits.
He lunged, diving at the bandits, who had just partially turned back to see him coming. With his lance acting as a cross bar and the momentum from his sprinting and the weight of his armor, he toppled all the bandits to the ground like dominoes. Selk, along with all the bandits except for the one that had been caught on fire, were now in a pile. They all rushed to get to their feet, including Selk. Selk hadn't done any damage to them, but he had bought some time.
Selk was on top of the pile, so he was the first to recover. One of the bandits reached from the pile and jerked his leg out from under him, though, causing him to fall on his back.

Just as Aaron was turning to go he saw the spearman rush at the bandits and clothesline the with his spear.
"Huh. he might not be a master of his craft yet, but he is strong."
A bandit had grabbed the leg of the spearman and dragged him down into the group. As long as they were focused on him Aaron could work.
Aaron prepared and released a fireball at the other side of the pile as some bandits rose. The scorching ball blazed into him.

Denzel was going at a high enough speed to get the first strike in on the leftmost bandit on the road. he pierced him in his right shoulder. It wasn't enough to kill him but he could get past him now. As the bandit fell Denze watched as he rolled out of the way. I was hoping to strike him and then trample him to death, no it's to ambitious I suppose. Denzel had lost some speed and reduced it even further to turn around to attack them again. When he turned his back the cavalier looked up as shadow blurted out the sun. A bandit had gotten f the path, onto a high rock and had jumped at him. Denzel realized he wasn't going to dodge this. He prayed that Wein and Yaen hadn't both gone to safe Lilith, cause that would really suck.

Lilith followed Wein and stayed back as he attacked the bandit. She observed the scene, noting that most people were struggling in their own battles, and not many people were working together. They had all been split up. "Wein, I think we need to regroup with everyone else..." she mumbled.
Lilith noticed the man who had been holding Wein staggered to his feet. She decided it was time she finished him off. Calling upon the strength she had left, she raised her hands and muttered, "Sethyr Resia!" and a ball of darkness formed on her fingertips. She muttered another word and the ball flew at the bandits chest. He crumpled and did not get up.
Lilith took a step forward and stumbled on an axe someone had left on the ground. "Ugh, now who would leave their sharp instrument of death lying about?!" she wondered to herself. Then she noticed that Wyatt had lost his axe, and this one did look similar to the one he had been holding, seeing as though it was a mass produced hatchet. So, Lilith picked the axe up, and, whilst waving it in the air, she yelled, "Hey Wyatt, I have your axe!"

Wyatt heard Lilith's shriek and turned quickly, taking his eyes off of the bandit he was trying to dodge. He saw her attack, and turned back to his own attacker, who had gotten surprisingly close.
"****!" He cursed, but before the bandit could slash at him, an arrow struck him in the leg. Wyatt smiled to himself.
'Thank you Wein!' And made to lunge forward with a punch towards the swordsman. The swordsman ducked down to the side, dodging the punch.
"You little brat, think this's how men fight!" He responded, by making another slash. Again, Wyatt jumped back just in time for the sword to only nic his shirt, but then the unexpected. As the sword finished it's arc, the man twisted with it on his good foot, and turned into a stab. Wyatt was caught off guard, and his feet were only partially on the ground after his jump back.
Time froze for a moment, the sword seeming to hover in mid air as he took in everything about him. Lilith had just turned, she had his axe. Denzel was about to be crashed into by a bandit, and Selk was a mess on the floor with some bandit on fire near him. He couldn't directly see Yaen, wonder where he was?
Time started with a vengeance, and a grotesque sound this battle had been filled with as Wyatt stood still, held up by the sword now 3 inches into his gut.
If that was the only problem, this battle still was going well. Denzel would find himself unmounted by the bandit that leaped at him, and after the sun was out of his eyes he could recognize it as the leader they'd chased out of the last town.
"Had enough o ya royal pains-in-ma-ass!" He growled, bring his hands up to attempt to strangle the young cavalier.

Malachi stopped himself, he was now only a few meters from the group of travelers. They seemed to be holding up alright. He continued running towards them, with his lance held up high he yelled "Are you all all right?" He probably knew the answer to his own question, but he had asked it anyways since he was so used to it.

"Not really, no!" Yaen shouted back, running frantically. Damn it, they were up to their knees in bandits! Selk was dealing with a horde, Denzel had the big boss, and Wyatt... Dear Father Sky, Wyatt!
"I'm coming, Wyatt!" he shouted. Blades bared, he charged towards Wyatt and his impaler. Once within range, he made a lunge for the swordsman, blades pointed straight towrds him. Amidst the lunge, Yaen couldn't help but remember using this exact same tactic in a certain battle five years ago...

"Ohmygod, ohmygod! Wyatt!" Lilith shrieked as she ran over to the wounded boy. She bashed the offending bandit on the head with Wyatt's axe and bent down to help Wyatt. "Stop moving, let me put some of my vulnerary on your wound! I'm so sorry, this is my fault, I distracted you. Ignore me next time, okay? Ohmygod, please don't die!" she said rapidly, reaching into her pack to pull out the pouch full of healing salve. She noticed Yaen coming to Wyatt's side. "Yaen, please, try to keep other bandits away from Wyatt, and make sure that swordsman is dead!" she pleaded with the Sacean.
