Abel ran fast yet stealthy down the mountain. He had seen the bandit ten minutes ago and had been wait 'til he got to a good ambush site.Suddenly he tripped, falling head over heels and then he saw what he was going to land on.He said a quick prayer and then he landed,on something else. He heard a slight grunt as he got up and then saw he had landed on the bandit. He then saw the prisoners, a older chap with an empty scabbard and quiver."You can come with me or find your own way."Abel said."I need to get to Nabata."the old man said."Nabata? that's on the other side of the world!"Abel said as he walk up the mountain."You got anywhere to be or any loved ones?"the old man asked."Ya I got a sister, not sure where she is.She was taken by bandits when she was younger."Abel replied, shuttering at the thought of his long lost sister."Well I've got a wife and a kid out in Nabata.Say there used to be a bandit fortress out there, maybe it's still there."the old man commented."I'll go for your family, but mines long gone." Abel said,"First let me get some stuff from my cabin and we can start out tomorrow.

When Abel got to his cabin(if you could call it that) he sat down in a chair and addressed the old man."First,do you have a name and second I'm not going all the way to Nabata."The old man stared for a moment be fore saying,"Call me Robin,my real name I keep for myself. And how far will you take me?" "Well,Robin, I don't want to go to far from my home but I'll take you as far as Erturia, maybe Lycia. Now I suggest we get some sleep."

Abel and Robin set off at dawn and headed south to Lycia. They traveled for weeks to the territory of Pherae. They stoped about a mile from a city unknown to them. (OCC:Was there a point to this thread?) End of thread

OoC:Ok, so I lied. Continued on return trip from Lycia. Oh, I'm not sure this is allowed but if it is, if someone wants to take Kasey's roll my sis said ya could. I'll pm whoever the password, if it's allowed. And then we'll pretend she didn't disappear.
IC: Abel looked at the mountains and took in a big breath. "Ah, home sweet home." He turned to Eric. "You might want to get those warm clothes on, my house is high in the mountains. We'll stay there a day or two, and then head to Arphen and stay with my parents. And then I think I'll join the army. From what I've seen and heard, it looks like Ilia might need some protection soon. I want to protect those Ilians(few there are) that can't fight."
While Abel waited for Eric to put on the clothes, he took his sword out and swung it a couple of times. He then preformed a series of jabs and slashes. Well, my swordsmanship hasn't gotten worse and I'm faster now. This journey did some good to me. Can't wait to see dad.

Nodding to his green-haired companion, Eric set down the bag holding his supplies and dragged out his extra clothes. So we'll be joining an army. I wonder what that will be like? It looks kinda hard, seeing all that death and worrying that you might not be good enough. Maybe there isn't anything, but maybe they do need us. Whatever came next, Eric would need to be ready, and he would.
Once he had finished struggling to bundle up properly, the boy picked up his bag again, making sure to pay attention to the remainder of what Abel had said. "Do you think Ilia will be in as much trouble as Lycia? That...Inquisitorial Army can't be everywhere, and all those people seemed pretty sure most of the army was in Lycia. Then again, I guess if they moved that fast with Ostia..." Having long ago recovered from the shock of their discovery, Eric had become more curious than ever as to how an army like that could work. Maybe the Ilians would have put some of those ideas into practice? If they hadn't, it would be mentioned quickly.

"Well, we'll try but who knows what will happen between now and then," Abel said to Eric, sheathing his sword. "Well, lets get moving."
Abel and Eric traveled about a mile down the road when they stopped. "Not many people know where my house is and there are a few who would welcome the information of its whereabouts," he explained to Eric. Abel walked over to a rock and counted seventeen paces. He dug his hand in the snow and grabbed a handle. After a few tugs he lifted a trap door and took two pairs of crude snow shoes from a hole in the ground. Taking a few minutes to make sure the door was covered, Abel walked back over to Eric after double checking that no one would happen upon the door by chance.
"Slip these over your shoes and follow me," Abel explained after handing Eric a pair of snowshoes. Abel slipped his on and once Eric had his on they traveled into the mountains in a northwesterly direction. Time to get home.

Abel's nonchalance about what could happen and his statement about keeping his house safe threw Eric slightly off-guard, but he quickly righted himself until Abel opened the trapdoor. What's that doing in the middle of the mountains? Did he build it? Did someone else build it, and why, then? What on Elibe are...those. The snowshoes were completely alien to the young mage; living in a small village, never having been anywhere with deep snow, there happened to be many things he didn't know. So, in the meantime, the plan was to find them out.
Slipping them over his boots proved an unsolvable challenge. Why? Would they cover their tracks? One look at them ruled that out. Were they for walking easier? Maybe, dragging his feet through the thick drifts tired Eric greatly, and one thing in his memory showed him that higher mountains had more deep drifts of snow. If they went up, it could only get harder.
The myrmidon seemed busy with his own...shoe-thingies, so Eric turned his over, still trying to divine their purpose until he came across a pair of straps. "Oh," came the muttered exclamation. The crude rims of rope (or whatever the things in the center were) were soon laced over boots, and, after several unsuccessful tries, they were vertical. So they are to make it easier. I guess...when I walk normally, I put my full weight on my boots, so they go through the snow. These things spread it, since I have to keep my balance with both legs...that makes sense. Someone with a lot of time with snow made these. Maybe Abel, but he doesn't seem the type to mess around with stuff like this all the time. A step forward confirmed the first theory, and so Eric wobbled forward on the strange shoe-coverings. "This helps a lot. Are we going into more snow, then?" The pupil remained oblivious to the number of questions he had asked over the trip; if he had, he would have realized that many people might have lost patience. Wonder upon wonder passed and greeted him, and curiosity could only greet them back time and time again.

OoC: Wow, looking back at my first posts I must say my RP skills were non existent back then.
IC:
"We're going into the mountains," Abel said to Eric.
They continued on their course, their snowshoes leaving somewhat of a trail but only visible to those looking for it. Soon they were climbing a mountain sort-of path, and it began to snow. I better get Eric to shelter.
"Eric, there should be a cave ahead that we can take shelter in," he called back to his freezing companion. As they traveled higher the wind picked up and one could see only white. Maybe I should have taken the short path, he thought. They came around a bend and the cave was at the other end.
"We're almost there," he said after he had turned to Eric. He doesn't look good, Abel thought with a grim look. I'll carry him if I have to. We should have taken the short path.

"Well, I guessed that much. But where exactly?" Eric muttered. Leaving his questions for later, the mage-in-training blundered awkwardly after Abel, gradually growing more confident with the crude snowshoes. --- Enthusiasm was one of those things that time alone had little affect on; add in a snowstorm and Eric's youth, and it shattered within half an hour. How...does he live up here? He has to do this all the time, and I'm hating it after just once! The cold dug through his extra layers of clothes, slowing him with each step and each minute that passed. Within a short while, he had nearly lost any ability for coherent thought. "Hey. Abel." Each word died quickly in the frigid air. With his companion's concerned glance and announcement of shelter, Eric promptly stumbled past him into the cave. Collapsing against the wall when his legs gave out, he groped for his tome. A small fire was finally created in front of him, giving off a meager amount of heat as energy gradually funneled into it. Is this the only point for magic? Ah, who care! This feels good. I'll never complain of cold again. The fire waxed stronger as he thought, his energy returning with the feeling in his extremities.

Abel followed Eric into the cave. "You alright? We're almost there, just a ten minute trip when your ready." Abel walked farther into the cave and came back dragging a sled.
"How about we eat something first, Abel said. "Oh wait, on second thought, maybe we should wait 'til we get there. Abel laid the sled near the mouth of the cave before he sat by the fire. "Haven't seen it this bad in a while. Of course I usually use the other path.

Never again, Eric's frazzled mind squealed out. But of course, it would be "again" all too soon as the companions finished their trip up the mountain; worse, the trip down could take even longer. At least no snow made it into the cave, and the stone blocked wind as well...
After a time of complete silence, the young mage found a stray thought: This is kinda like that lesson I used to do...maybe I can practice a bit. Yeah, that'd work. All this travelling was so I could learn new things. Flexing his fingers to ensure they worked--he had read about a painful-sounding ailment called "frostbite", although he only knew it affected limbs mostly--he gently cupped his hand around the fireball and had begun to move it in various patterns when Abel mentioned another path. The younger traveller jerked his head up, the fire spasming in reflexion of his surprise. "There's another path? What's different about the two, and...why did we take this one?" His fire stood in a comically lopsided shape, shading yellow as its maker's confusion grew. The changing colors had always been a fascinating oddity; now, in the agitation of the moment, Eric didn't notice. "We're not being followed, are we?" Then again, anyone following us would be lost and cold. Nobody sane would follow two travellers up a mountain in this weather. But...Abel looks fine. Maybe this is normal, and I'm just not used to it? Gah, I hate that he hasn't answered so many of my questions! The fire continued to twitch and finally dwindle to a small flame, only surviving by a continuous output of energy.

Abel stood across from Eric. "Ya, there's another path. It may be 'shorter', but shorter doesn't always mean faster. You gotta worry about avalanches and getting caught in the snow. Besides, this way's a lot more fun." Abel yawned. ""I'm sure you have a lot more question's, but I'd rather wait 'til we get to my place so that you don't feeze to death."
Where will the world take me? Will I become what I wish, or will I fail everyone, myself and Eric? Abel asked himself. Time will tell, time will tell. "Alright, let's get this show on the road," he said, walking over and picking up the sled. "You know how to use a sled?"

((OOC: This'll be 100% made up, since I'm not sure where you are. Hope I'm doing it right, though.
Enter Orion!))
IC: Orion Raus plowed through the heavy snow on the trail- that is, his white stallion, Blanc, did. Orion would not get through this snow in months, and he needed his horse to fight, anyways. Luckily, Blanc seemed to resist the coldness more than Orion could, and he didn't complain, so onward they went.
Blanc's white coat's beauty was augmented by the clean snow. When the sun came out, the snow sparkled around the horse, making quite a spectacular sight. Absolutely beautiful. Besides, a soldier needed a fitting horse, too, and a beautiful horse, as well as fast, was great.
Orion and Blanc plowed through a snowdrift, and came upon a fork. Well, technically, they were on one of the forks of the y-shape. And on the base of it, in front of the boy and his steed, were two men. Near them was an open cave, and Orion was curious.
"Uh... Hello, I am Orion Raus, a squire from Caelin," he introduced himself, unsure of what else to say.

OoC: Tis fine, I don't exactly know where we are either IC: Abel threw the sled down and drew his sword as a strange man apeared. After the initial shock(and the realization that the new comer wasn't a demented Manakete seeking revenge), he put his sword back in his scabberd. Funny how Laus keeps poping up, he thought. "I'm Abel of Arphen," Abel replied. He looked back at Eric with a 'how in the world did a squire from Laus get in the Illian mountains during a blizzard' look. "Nice to meet you Orion. Might I ask how you got so far into the mountains? If you need a place to stay my place is close." How in the world am I going to get a horse on a sled? Abel asked himself. I'll think of something. "Come in and have a seat where it's warm." Abel walked farther into the cave and came back with a few 'logs'. "Eric, would you do the honors?" he asked as he put the 'logs' on a teepee shape.

Eric quickly complied, sending his now normally colored fire to drift to a rest on Abel's logs; all the time, though, his attention never left the newcomer that had come into the cave. "I'm Eric. People call the place I come from Rone, in east Lycia." After a moment of thinking, he decided to leave off with the introduction. Thinking of reasonable things to say was still tough, but his lips and hands worked, so he felt rested and content.
Turning back to Abel, the young pupil responded to the earlier question: "Nope, never ridden a sled. I think I might have heard of them, though. Is that it? If Orion goes with us, we may have to do something different, though. What do you think?" A moment later, Eric recognized the feelings of lethargy he was feeling. We're not going anywhere if I do that, and I am not falling asleep. So much to do! Then again, Orion has a horse. Really, I haven't seen on of tho-STOP IT. Rising quickly made him dizzy, but it helped to gather his thoughts as the heat from the young fire and the action dispelled Eric's lazy feelings. "The storm looks like it's settling down. Are we going?" Rest and heat had neatly erased the memory of the cold; however, with his thoughts now clear, Eric walked to the fire and slowly coaxed a new flame from it to carry. It took several minutes with his lack of control, but soon he was ready. Leaving the logs, he reported, "I'm ready when you are." Abel would be left to make the plans. The myrmidon knew the mountains better than his companion did.
