Zakon leaned against the wooden construct as he considered the fight. He still couldn't work out why it had started. From what he had worked out, the losing end of the conflict had simply attacked for no reason. Obviously they hadn't intended to die themselves.
Two of the remaining fighters were talking about joining up, Introducing themselves as Garnet and Rayl. They were quickly joined by a third.'If fighting like this is the way of the world, then I don't think my dragonstone will last me to the end of my mission. But if I can't make it on my own, then...' "Would you mind, if I joined you?" Zakon spoke up.

OoC: Haven't seen Abel, so I guess that makes it my turn.
IC:
Garnet saw a young man with green hair approach. He seemed a little green in the face too, like he hadn't ever seen a battle before. He was carrying a bow so Garnet guessed that he'd helped in the battle.
"You must be Fargo, I'm Garnet. If you two hadn't shown up when you did, I'd be finished for sure now."
Garnet heard a voice from behind and saw a boy who appeared to be entering into his teens approaching. He had silver hair with a few blue streaks setting it off, and was wearing a brown cloak which seemed poorly constructed. The boy seemed to have gotten a light nick on the arm.
"I have no objections to you traveling with us lad, if your way goes with ours," Garnet said. He thought it odd that a child was out looking to travel the lands. "would be safer I think than traveling alone, but I'm not the only one involved."

Fargo looked back at the mercenary as he spoke. He did not reply, but simply waved a bit. Fargo put on a smile, but it was more grim than anything. Examining Garnet a bit, he saw the mercenary had a lot of blood on his face. Perhaps a bad cut on the face? He couldn't tell, but Fargo figured it hurt.
A quiet voice suddenly interrupted Fargo's thoughts. He looked up to see a younger person, a boy to be exact. It surprised Fargo that there was another out in the forest that was young, like himself. It was even more surprising to see no visible weapon's. Why was such a young man traveling with nothing to defend himself? It was strange, but Fargo figured he was from the village.

Rayl was pretty surprised by the people wishing to travel the lands, but that was how people were: Mankind had a natural sense of exploration in them. However, he was willing to understand this, although it was obvious Rayl had no interest in that sort of thing nowadays," Well, you all are welcome to accompany us to Laus. I'll be heading back to Pherae when this is all over though, so don't be expecting some grand adventure you'd find in a storybook."
Did he just take a shot at Fargo, or was he mocking himself five years back when he first set out...eh, who knows. With a smile on his face he made his way to the slightly damaged caravan, looking inside to see civilians curled up inside, obviously fearful of bandits that were no longer there," It's alright, you are safe now." Rayl's gentle yet orderly tone had coaxed them from their hiding place, where he was then greeted with 'thank you's and 'Elimine bless you's. Rayl made it clear that it wasn't just him and that everyone out here had contributed, obviously speaking of Garnet and Fargo. As the people began thanking the others, Rayl returned to Elibe and saddled up, checking a map:
They would travel until they reached an inn at the border of Pherae and Santaruz. Then travel through Santaruz and reach Laus, where they would stay at an inn before reaching the capital early in the morning, Rayl would take care of business, then he'd go back to Pherae and continue his duty for another few months before he got some leave time, and then: To Ilia and find Persephone.

"Shall we be off then? This is not the type of place I would choose to spend the afternoon." Garnet said quickly, looking around at the damaged wagons and carnage littering the grounds. It wasn't really a question, as he did intend to leave here.
Going to a wagon he retrieved his bag and waterskin. All he had in his rather worn looking rucksack was a heavy cloak he wore when it was cold or raining. It doubled as a blanket as well. Taking a moment more he shoved some of the food stuffs the caravan carried into his bag as well. I guess this is the payment I'll take with me.
Coming out of the wagon, Garnet's gaze settled on the horse he had found after the destruction of his village. Garnet had found the horse,a dapple grey in color, as he was heading south away from the village. It had belonged to a neighbor and had been a capable riding horse. Garnet had supposed that if anyone should have the horse, he should, in remembrance of his home. In the last few months since that time, he had never named the gelding anew and so it was still called by the name it's original master had given it: Fable. He approached the back of the wagon where the horse was tied.
Garnet calmed Fable with a soft touch and some gentle words. He did not spook easily, but the bandit raid had startled him. He appeared uninjured, so Garnet began to tack up the horse once he was calm enough. Finally untying the the rope, he came out and addressed the group, "It will be slower going on foot, but I don't think Fable here will be able to ride double all the way to Laus."
Fable looked over curiously at the Bernese charger near Rayl, and Garnet stroked the greys neck.

OoC:Don't leave me! IC: Abel ran down the hill, trying to keep his arm from bleeding. He saw Robin run from behind a tree, and switched back swords.Abel heared him say something about seeing someone he didn't like, and said he was off to Nabata.Abel shrugged, winced at the pain and ran the rest of the way down the hill."Can someone help me use this?"Abel asked while holding his vulnerary in his hand.He made his way over to the cavalier ,who looked incharge.Abel saw the mercenary in the corrner of his eye.Great, I leave Ilia to get away from mercenaries and now there's another one.

Zakon took the vulnerary bottle and started to pour some of it's contents over the swordfighter's arm injury. "I'd wondered where you went," he commented, "You seemed to disappear when the battle ended." Then Zakon noticed the man's weapon was less bloody than it should have been if he had been using it in battle. 'Ah, he was either cleaning his weapon or getting a new one.

Garnet climbed atop Fable as the various civilians moved off towards the city.
The horse shyed away as a man ran up holding a vulnerary in an injured arm.
"Can someone help me use this?" The green haired newcomer asked.
The boy moved to aid the newcomer, which surprised the mercenary. Garnet hadn't expected someone so young to know first aid.
As the vulnerary was applied, Garnet used the opportunity to cast a critical eye on the newcomer. He was young, but that didn't mean much. There could easily be an incredible talent hiding in that teenage frame. He doesn't look muscley enough for a mercenary...so a myrmidon? He hadn't betrayed any hostile intent, so Garnet decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and not consider him an enemy. The battle had left the Merc a little jumpy.
"Ho there stranger. Who are you?" Garnet called. Turning to the boy he continued "And boy, if I'm going to be traveling with someone, I'd generally like to know their name." Garnets head was throbbing so he undid the makeshift bandage, and began applying his own vulnerary to his injuries. As he did this he turned to the mounted cavalier.
"It also interests me to know what type of business a cavalier from Pherae might have in Laus."

Rayl showed some concern for the injured youth more than he did towards Garnet's injuries: he wasn't going to have some young kid was his life in a meaningless fight when he had so many more years to experience, and so dismounted and knelt at his side, muttering some sort of prayer beneath his breath as Zakon tended to the youth's injuries...
Until Garnet posed a question with which he didn't prefer.
At this point, Rayl went on the defensive towards Garnet's remark, though with his usual somber and respectful attitude, replied," Personal matters...why so many people seem intent on following along is lost on me." he patted Elibe on the side, who was eying the meek horse (compared to the tank that was himself) with which the mercenary was riding upon, before grazing for a time upon the grass beneath them: delicious and moist. Rayl then began to drift off slightly into his own thoughts before saddling up once more.

He was listening to Rayl, when Fargo heard the cavalier point out what he had always wanted. Fargo would have taken some offense to it as well. Had it not been for Rayl's personal story that he told him, however, he realized it wasn't directed towards him. So, instead of retaliating, Fargo said nothing and stayed quiet for a while.
Fargo watched as Garnet went over to the caravan and get on a horse. He also saw him speak to it, softly. Fargo was about to ask if he should get on Elibe, when a different voice emerged. He jumped a bit, and quickly turned around. There was the other sword fighter. The one who was pursuing the bandit he was about to shoot. The sword fighter said he needed help, but the other young man went over to attend to him. Fargo also noticed Rayl was nearing him, so he followed. He heard Garnet ask the green-haired sword fighter his name. A few other comments were made by the mercenary, but Fargo payed no attention. He was still getting over his spook.
Now, it was Fargo's turn to pipe up. In response to Rayl's statement, he answered, "Probably because, like, your a knight of Pherae, and you really know what's what around here, I guess." Perhaps the others knew the lay of the land as well, but he wasn't sure. It didn't seem like the others were originally from hear, except for the other younger person. Fargo never left his town, except for the times he went with his 'mentor.'

Zakon listened to the other's conversation. 'Questioning each other's motivations. There's a sort of logic behind that, but I'd better not call attention to my own.' Once he was finished with the battler's first aid, he spoke up to answer the questions Garnet put forward. "Sorry. My name is Zakon. And he-"Zakon paused, he didn't actually know the green haired man.

"My names Abel"Abel replied. He took the Vulnerary from Zakon and said a quick thank you.He looked around the group and his eyes stopped on the merc."And your name is?"he asked as he cautiously drew his sword and wiped it with a rag.He then sheathed it,hoping he hadn't alarmed anyone."I came from Ilia,I was bringing a friend down."he said to the night without wavering his stare at the merc.

"Well, they do say knights are often times the rallying points on the battlefield...let's just pray this isn't foreshadowing such an event." a slight, uneasy joke here, followed by a just as uneasy chuckle, before offering a hand out to his young friend Fargo," Well, let us depart now, friends, and travel with as much daylight as we have left. This skirmish has cost us traveling time. It will likely take us longer now that we have travelers on foot." he used friends in a respectful manner, as they were all strangers to him, and Fargo being only an acquaintance he met at church.

"Garnet... from Etruria." The red-headed merc said, looking away. "Searching for a way to improve my craft."
He had heard Rayl's reasons for traveling to Laus. Clearly the man didn't really want to talk about them. Garnet recalled his own grim, even tragic past that had forced him out of his home. that had been only a few months before.
"Abel and Zakon. Glad to meet you." Garnet was retreating deeper into himself by the moment. I refuse to be beaten by depression over the past He reaffirmed his mission to himself and then looked around again. Once they started putting some distance behind them, he would feel better.
With that, Garnet started moving down the path.

"So where are we going?"Abel asked Garnet as he ran after the horse."My father is mercenary too.I don't know about my mom."Abel took a cloth out of his pocket and made it into a sling for his arm to rest in,he then swung the strap over his head and put his arm in it."My dad taught me how to make this.Do you have a family?"Abel jogged beside the horse.
