I think it would be cool if there was Fire Emblem 4/5 magic. It would add more variety than the fireballs and the occasional thunder.
The added weapons could be Elthunder, Wind, Elwind, Volcano, Tron, and Tornado. Some long-range ones are Meteo, Bolting, and Blizzard. Thus Fire, Wind, and Thunder are the elements for the spells. With FE4/5 magic, the new chart could be something like this.
E rank: Fire Thunder Wind Basic spells D rank: Elfire Elthunder Elwind Stronger spells C rank: Meteo Bolting Blizzard Long range spells B rank: I dunno, maybe the Fimbulvetr A rank: Volcano Tron Tornado Uber spells S rank: Excauliber
You could further expand and add the anima spell triangle: Fire beats Wind, Wind beats Thunder, Thunder beats Fire.
I don't care if you don't do it. I just think it would just give more options for mages as they have so little while sword users have 15 options.

In the game, mages have versatility in attack range.
In this RP, not only do they have attack range, a clever spell caster can do some things you might not be able to do in the game universe.
Trying to find foes hidden in a forest? A well place Fireball would serve to oust them. Fighting a bandit on a mountain side? A sudden jolt might free up a bolder on the cliff.
If you are creative, the RP allows many ways for you to utilize your weapons that the game cannot.
That and I am against over complication.

I agree with Wyatt. Hell, I still see most weapons in here as complicating things. They don't really matter much, as far as roleplay has proven so far. In fact, most got Steel weapons from Athos, and nothing seemed to change at all. It IS true, though, that magic doesn't work like weapons, and that it WOULD make a bigger difference, but I still don't like the idea of dividing Anima magic into three(not that it doesn't make sense, but I just don't find it...practical).
Also, the RP was based around FE7, and though we have added some stuff from FE8, we don't really want to deviate too much from the original idea.

If you were to do it:
E = Fire, Wind, Thunder D = Elfire, Elwind, Elthunder C = Meteor, Blizzard, Bolting B = Yay, let's make up names ~ ~ Blaze, Eddy, Storm A = Bolganone, Tornado, Thoron S = Falaflame!!!, Holsety!!!, Thor Hammer!!!
