It was just as a cold afternoon as ever on Illia's snowy mountains, flurrying frozen ice from the heavens and reinforcing it on the ground with thick sheets of ice. If one were to come from a warmer, dryer climate, you might think the sight would be something of awful, but locals of a nearby village found it absolutely wonderful, and with all of the mercenaries and so little bandits around, it was safe, too.
Although inns and hotels didn't make a lot of money, pubs were usually full of nearby unemployed locals, looking for a portal or two into a little world where they don't have to support families and pay for houses. Alchohol. Nature's pain-killer.
Pegasus knights could be found doing a little in this area, aswell. With the rocky and icy climates, it's easier for them to get around in the skies than others by foot. Granted the pegasus you ride doesn't mind wet snow on it's wings.
Stopped in a snowy forest near the town was a young wintery-haired girl with a strange red-green eye coloring. She was standing next to a pegasus and staring out onto the dazzling, albeit a little vision-obstructing, falling ice show.
Originally she had stopped to find a letter that had fallen from her sachel in the skies, but by now the letter was mush and illegible from the wet of the ground and there was no more sense to look for it. Now, all she needed was a little clear-up and she could set skies again.
Her pegasus headbutted her in the thigh and complained. "Hush," She scolded it softly. "Time passes by quicker when you don't constantly make your prescence known."
With her only light armor, the poor girl was freezing, but she couldn't do anything about it until the sky let up a little. Eithne sighed a frosty breath and covered her arms with her hands, shivering. As beautiful as snow was, it was deadly to even the strongest warm-blooded creature.

"Another game, Theian?" "No thanks, I'm good." "Alright, maybe another time."
Theian was at a poker table in the nearby pub. "Bah, that damn b****, cheating on that last game!" He cursed his bad luck, he thought he had found a surefire way to get some extra cash.
Theian checks his pocket, there's only a couple of coins left. No one here needed someone to fight bandits, and the mercenary guilds had no openings, no one had died in any missions. Good new for the villagers, they can rest easy. Bad news for him, he can't get money.
"Jeez, why did I think this would be a good place for some cash?" Theian muttered to himself. Another thing he got from his old man, talking to himself when he's in a bad mood. Why didn't he stay with them, in Sacae? No, why did he not choose to use bring his bow so he could hunt for animals?
"More snow... what else is new?" He shivers and looks for his jacket. His old man, Haein Makarn, had been a mercenary, and had told him to go to Ilia, or the Western Ilses, both places had places to go for money.
"Should have gone with the pirate place, everyone wants them dead." A forest was nearby, maybe there's something edible in there, something that could get him money. He runs toward the forest, so he can store some heat in the cold.

However many times Eithne settled down her winged horse, it went back to neighing and butting her again. She sighed and rubbed her temples after the fourth cooing, deciding the pegasus could suffer. If she, a tiny-framed, loosely dressed girl could survive longer in the snow, why couldn't a several-hundred pound beast of nature do it?
Tired from a long day, Eithne leant on her frusterated little stead to let some pressure off her feet. Bailey was warm, and her fur was soft. The winter-haired girl almost felt like crawling up under her wing and falling asleep. But alas, more was to come before sleep.
Feeling a relief in the wind and knowing a drop in precepitation would come next, the Pegasus knight stuck her crimson boot through the sandle's footloop and mounted onto the large winged creature. She blinked a few times to clear the water from her eyes, and inspected which cloud looked best for flight.
A clearance of snow making it's way towards Eithne caught her eye. A figure staggering his way from town into the woods. She blinked. Was the person aware that there was no civilization in that direction for miles and miles on end? He'd probably pass out from one thing or another traveling that way alone.
There were not many bandits, but there were still wolves and bears that delighted anything for food, even human. Exhaustion was a common thing to suffer from fataly when travelling, especially by foot. And not to mention freezing to death. She cleared her soft voice and called out to the figure.
"Excuse me, Sir! Do you know where you're headed?"
Hm, that sounded stupid after she said it. It sounded a lot better in her head. Even her pegasus neighed a laugh at her. Besides, the timing was way off. By the time the words escaped her mouth, the man had already vanished. She sighed another frosty breath and pulled on her Pegasus' reigns.
"Y'ah!" Eithne commanded, directing her flying stead along the road nearby. It cantered like a horse, wings instretched over the rider's feet to warm both wings and feet up. They cantered a little while into the woods before Eithne got lost.
"Oh boy," She whispered. "This is a lot more confusing from the inside than above..." She looked around. Which way was the clearing? She needed to get there to take off, but with no clearing in sigh and the road hidden under mounds of snow, it was anybody's guess.

Theian trudged on, shaking the snow off the branches every once in a while. How could trees survive where no other plant can live? One of life's many mysteries, although he can guess that someone else knows why...
He falls over and hits snow, a chill runs down his entire body. "Greeaatt," He mutters, "Now I can die of hypothermia. DARN YOU, LADY LUCK! FIRST THE POKER GAME, AND NOW THIS?!" A snow drift falls on him from one of the higher branches. Someone up there must be laughing at him right now.
"That's odd, I could've sworn I heard a sound there..." Theian turns, and finds the shadow of... what looks like a pegasus. "I hope it isn't a battle, looking at how luck's been treating me..." He cups his hands at his mouth, hoping that this person can hear him.
"Hello! How are you, today?" Obviously, the person came to tell him something, maybe he was going to die or something. Yeah, that would definitly happen considering his current luck.
"Say, it that a pinecone on that branch above me?" The next thing the person sees is the pinecone falling and hitting him on the head. Hard.

Although lost, it was best to keep moving. if Eithne and her flying stead stopped cantering, they'd risk losing any track they might have found. So, they continued to trot through the snowy forest, snapping twigs and branches as they passed under Bailey's heavy weight.
Eventually Eithne noticed they weren't alone anymore. She could hear some talking nearby, and it sounded male. It was most likely the boy she had seen from before, entering the forest.
The snowy-haired postal girl guided her pegasus to the sound of movement, and eventually found that it was, indeed, the bluenette man. He seemed to be having a little trouble with the snow and pinecones.
Eithne lead Bailey to the man. "Um... we could be better," She answered, trotting over to him from behind.

Theian turns and sees the pegasus. "Same here, I really can't complain. Where are you headed?" He rubs his head where the pinecone hit him. Man, what a day! The poker game, then the snow drift, and now the pinecone and this girl... what will come next?
"I find this place a bit too cold, don't you agree? Is there a way to somewhere... warmer?" Theian brushes off the snow and stands up. Looking closer at the girl, Theian noticed that her eyes were of different color... Well, he could be starting to hallucinate...

The sun was getting hyper, passing from above to a position on the horizen rather quickly. The time was passing quickly evidentally, and the sun would most likely set before Eithne found a place to take off from. She would likely have to stay for the night, unless she, by some luck, found the way in time.
"I'm supposed to be off to Lycia by now, but I got lost," The pegasus knight replied.
She looked from the sky to the bluenette, giving a little bit of an inspection. He had dark eyes that were hard to decide the color from far away, noticeably blue hair and lighty armored clothes. From his armor and sword in it's hilt, it could easily be assumed that he was a warrior of swordplay. Perhaps a mercenary or something of the sort.
"Somewhere warmer?" Eithne looked around for a moment. It was snowy on this mountain everywhere you searched. Did he really think that there was somewhere within walk distance to warm up?
"W-Well... there isn't really anywhere you could acess by foot in one night. You could try hitching a ride on a horse or something in town, if someone was headed down the mountain," She told him, blinking her bright red & green eyes in though frequently.
"I would offer you a ride myself, but I can't seem to find my way out and therefor wont likely fly tonight. Oh! And how rude of me. My name is Eithne Artilg," She informed. "What is your name, sir?"

"My name is Theian Makarn, son of Haein Makarn and Neiah Makarn II. I came hoping for an open slot in the mercenary guild, to no avail. I'm hoping to return to Sacae, soon..." After much thought, Theian concludes the girl's eyes are red and green. Man, I hope I can get some money, soon... "Wait, if you're not going to fly, where are you going to go?"
