The events take place in an airy forest, along a river. The sun is shining brightly, as it is late in the morning. The river is calm for now.
The sore pirate sighed to himself. Never had he felt so out of place, yet still at peace. He knew that his emotions were much like a paradox, but it was the truth. He did appreciate the serene nature of the forest, melding together with the sound of the quaint stream. The tunes fit in harmony. Even with the uneasy feeling of knowing he was a wanted man, Joseph felt secluded from the dangers, safe.
For an hour, the pirate had been walking by the river he found. The current was leading east, which was almost too good to be true for the giant sea rover. This meant that if he followed the water, it would lead him to the sea. Another plus for the sea fighter was that the river was heading east, away from his attackers. It was perfect, almost too good to be true. Still, his worries were not nearly over. Those men who were led by the 'Prophet' figure were bound to be in pursuit. Joseph would remember that name. He would remember that name for the rest of his life.
Soon, Joseph knew he had to rest. The pirate began to slow his steady-paced walk. As he stopped, the sea wolf sat on the grass. The feeling was nice, and soon, Joseph found himself lying down, blissfully aware of his surroundings. And as the pirate stared into space, he thought about the sea. The pirate imagined that he would be back to the Isles, where he would be walking down a sandy beach, carrying a chest of gold. It was a sea rover's dream. So, for a short time, Joseph daydreamed, letting down his guard for a short time. Yet there was no smile on his face.

After a few minutes of basking in the sun rays, the pirate lazily brought himself to his feet. His axe was becoming very uncomfortable to lie on, and he decided that he should be going. Yet, the pirate wanted to enjoy the river just a bit longer. He decided to take a short wad in the calm waters. Not only would he wash some of his clothes, Joseph would rid himself of his own odors.
Once stripped till his undergarments, the giant sea rover cautiously entered the water. At first, the chill stung to the touch. Yet, soon, that cold pain left, and Joseph was able to submerged and soak his shirt. He then followed suit with his pants. Joseph would do this to all of his clothes, leaving his leather boots. He did examine them, and simply washed the soles. Once his cloths were taken care of, Joseph removed his headband. Most of his frayed, gray hair came over his eyes, but it didn't matter. Instead, he submerged his entire body into the river. He came back out, with a slight splash and water flying many places due to his head shaking.
This lasted a few minutes, when Joseph decided he was clean enough. The muscular pirate left the water to lay with his clothes in the sun, after vigorous shaking to dry his hair and himself. Once more, the calm pirate had closed his eyes for a time to relax. He was playing a dangerous game here. Joseph, even with his vigil nature, was still in danger. He would soon be on his way.

After a few minutes of lying down in the grass, the pirate finally rose. When doing so, he unintentionally examined himself. Joseph was pleased with the looks of his stature. He flexed his biceps and other muscles. The pirate was in his prime, yet he knew he could become stronger. For some time now, Joseph had wondered what it would be like to have the strength of his captain. Even though he, a sea fighter of great talent, was still strong, the captain had usually bettered him. Joseph aspired to be a true berserker of the sea, and earn himself the title that all had called him on the ship; "The Sea-Wolf."
While dressing, the sea rover kept an eye on his surroundings. It was still late morning, maybe even noon, but the knights had to be trailing him. Joseph would have to make up for his lounging in the river by walking longer, and if needing a break, would make it quick. Finally putting his headband on, the giant sea rover began his trek once more.
Even in the forest, with plenty of water at his side and provisions with him, Joseph's heart called to the ocean. In return, he felt the huge body of water calling to him as well. How the waves lapped against the sands, and in the ocean, a ship would be adrift. For Joseph, that was the image of freedom, happiness, and harmony. The tall pirate kept walking with the beautiful thoughts in his head, silently.

Etruria was certainly very beautiful. It was said to have the powers to calm the most savage of men and the deadliest of hearts. Of course, the person who was responsible for first introducing such a speech may have been referring to the place's powerful mages and their wondrous berserk staffs, but the idea of the nation stuck, as many a time it was proven true.
It had taken her nearly 2 days to once again set foot in her home kingdom. Throughout her long journey from Bern to Etruria, Love had met an assortment of people. Those who liked to argue till there was no tomorrow and those who preferred to sleep along in the woods and frighten people off with their sword. And then of course, there were the bandits. Love was fortunate enough to avoid clashing with them, but was not nearly lucky enough to have not had any contact at all; the young girl had seen several brigands raid a small village and then made off with several jewels and a rather priceless looking axe the leader (a retired hero) was carrying. Needless to say, it was not a pretty sight.
But now she was safe. Back in the arms of Etruria, once again walking through the forest, stopping here and there to take a peek in the lake (which contained several small fishes at times), Love was content. That is, until she saw another person.
Squeaking mildly, the young girl stared at the man, alone, five feet in front of her...She didn't know what to do. Mind blank and expression pitiful, Love stood still hoping she hadn't intruded on anything...

On his light trek, the pirate was lost in thought. He was taking note of the prestene nature around him. The calming effect had been lasting for some time. Joseph had no idea how long he had been walking. If he were to look up into the sky, the Sea-Wolf would have seen that the time was not long at all.
He stopped suddenly, when hearing a squeak. As if on cue, the pirate immediately looked to where the sound's origins were, and went for his axe. Joseph's hand was on the handle, when he stopped, and froze. In front of him, a young lady. She was dressed in darkly clothing, which magnified the fairness of her skin, hair, and eyes. For a moment, the sea rover just stared into those eyes, not sure of what to do. Gradually, Joseph's body relaxed. He stood up straight again, leaving his fighting stance. The pirate's left arm also went back down to his side. The sea rover's eyes, once sharp and harsh, also changed. What once was a raging ocean, a calm sea was it's replacement.
An awkward silence followed. Then, it was apparent to him that Joseph needed to say something. He cleared his throat, and began in a kind, soft voice. The sea rover's slight pirate accent probably did not help this. "I... beg yer pardon, miss. I didn't mean to frighten' you... honest. You've nothen' to be 'fraid of; I'm just traveling." To be honest, Joseph would not have been surprised if the girl burst into tears from fear. The physical size difference was incredibly noticeable. In the Sea-Wolf's mind, he kept repeating, Please don't cry, please don't cry, please don't cry...
