It was as Saturos had said. After a few hours long walk, and an empty stomach, the three of them, Darion, Saturos, and herself made it within sight distance of the town. There were lights on, despite it being late at night. The inns and taverns were probably still bustling with activity, if they were anything like in Ilia. Marle gave a tremendous grin as she spotted civilization once more. The smell of an active community was always the best, especially at night. All she could smell was roasted food, beef, pork, chicken, anything...it was great...Ilia was nothing like this...much to cold to do anything in Ilia at night.
Her head turned back to Saturos and Darion, as apparently, Marle had gotten a bit ahead of them in her excitement. She certainly wasn't acting her age, but really, she couldn't help it. Licking her lips, she began to take the lead a bit and stood within the doorway of the town, which was fenced off quite securely. This was not the first time she had seen this, it helped keep out evil doers who would want to pillage and pilfer from the people.
Siting up against the large archway, she turned and looked over her shoulder at the other two once more, and rested with ease on her lance, taking a bit of a breather. It was only then she had remembered about that echoing growl, and checked behind her as well as the rest, to see if she could hear it still. It had frozen her blood more than once along the way. After not hearing it anymore, she gave Saturos a small, curious look.
"This is fantastic! Know a good place to stay, by any chance?"

Saturos nodded. It was nice to be back in familiar territory. He smiled as he watched Marle jump ahead of them, excited at the hustle and bustle of the town before them. Had she never left Ilia before? It was understandable, actually, now that he thought about it. Unless you were a soldier or a merchant, most people never left their home town, much less their home country. Saturos was just different. He like it that way.
"I'm glad to see you're so chipper," said Saturos, walking up next to Marle. "I thought you were going to pop right out of your skin a few times back there." He gave her a quick once over. "Glad to see that's not the case." The myrmidon knocked on the gate. It's old wooden frame shudder with each thud. "I've been here quite a few times. There should I should be able to get us a room at an inn I used to frequent back when I was living in this neck of the woods."
"Yeah? Who is it?" came a gruff voice from the other side of the gate. Saturos leaned up against the wood. He cleared his throat before answering. "Aihm shorry," he said in a slurred imitation of the voice on the other side of the gate, "ah sheem ta have mishplaced mah pants. I wush wond'ren' if ya might be able ta help meh find 'em." The voice on the other side harrumphed. "Making fun of me are you? I'll have you know that some hooligan had stol-" the voice stooped when the door opened, revealing an older, bearded man, his hair like salt and pepper. His frown turned into a smile when he saw Saturos. "Satty? Is that you? Why I should have known..." the man outstretched his arms and moved in for a hug which Saturos reciprocated. "It's good to see you, you scalawag." The two broke out of their hug.
"It's good to see you too, you old fart," replied Saturos. The old man grinned and playfully punched Saturos in the shoulder. "Hey, this old fart could still show you a thing or two about what's what, you know," said the man, punching the air a few times. "I'll have you know that I used to be a prime Etrurian pitfighter back in my day." Saturos put his hands up in mock defense. "I know, I know, you've told me the story at least a million times," he replied, half-chuckling. "So, think you can score us a room at the ol' inn?" The man shrugged. "I dunno," he said, stroking his beard. "I don't even know who 'us' even is." The man looked around Saturos at Marle and Darion. He held out a hand. "My name's Parious, but Satty here just calls me old fart," said Parious, rubbing his nose. "You can just call me Parry."

Marle had taken a few steps back as the Saturos begun his introduction to the man behind the gate. The deal with the pants was totally beyond her, as was the accent he used, but later, understood, that it was a inside joke between the two. Still, she couldn't help but give a small, childish snicker. She looked to Darion and gave a small shrug of her shoulders, motioning with a tilt of her head towards Saturos and Parry, before lightly whispering, not wanting to interrupt their visit and welcome with eachother.
"Guess they're old friends.."
Marle didn't quite know what a pitfighter was, but when she watched Parry begin thrusting his fists in the air at an imaginary target, she slowly understood, and knew that he was at a time, a prized brawler, which caused her to smirk a little. The man was huge in comparison to her, as he came close, she understood that right away.
Looking up at him, she brushed some of her hair out of her eyes and gave a pleasant smile to him, as she embraced his hand with two of her own, grasping his large hand between both of her own, as she shook it, almost eagerly, not having forgotten what lay inside the town. Licking her lips at the thought, she re-made eye contact and introduced herself.
"Good evening sir! My name is Marle Daviau, I'm a knight-hopeful from Ilia, pleasure to make your acquaintance, Parry!"
After she released his hand, she gave a slight bow, lowering her lance's point towards the ground, just to be certain. Slowly she stiffened her back till she was standing straight once more, thumbing at her armor as it had caught on her shoulder, making it rather uncomfortable for Marle to move it.

Parry nodded at Marle, a grin on his face. "Pleased to meet you, missy," he replied. He walked over to Darion and shook his hand as well, greeting him, then walked back to the gate. The big man turned towards Saturos. "Well, since you've got such a nice pair o' mates here, Satty, I guess I could get you a room," Parry replied, nudging Saturos. "But it'll cost ya!" Saturos just rolled his eyes, smiling. "I wonder. Could I be paying for drinks?" he asked, putting his hand on his chin in an over-dramatic fashion. Parry slapped the myrmidon on the back, causing Saturos to stumble forward.
"Now that's a great idea!" he said, chortling and stepping off towards the tavern, stopping to wave at the three travelers. "Come on, I've got to get my drink on!" Saturos just turned to Marle and Darion and shrugged, then started off with Parry.
"Now, missy," said Parry, turning his head to look at Marle, "you said you were gonna become a knight. How's that working out for you?"

It was interesting to her, how Stauros and Parry acted towards one another. Parry reminded her a lot of her father, with how rough around the edges he appeared to be, eve his manner of speaking. As Saturos began to walk, she too, followed in step with Darion, picking up and resting her lance across her shoulders, and then reaching to hold the weapon flat over her shoulders with both hands, making to follow in the back just incase she hits someone.
Looking up toward Parry, she rose an eyebrow at him, and gave a rather meager shrug, not really knowing herself.
"Well, in Arphen, they sent me out as a recruit to get some real world experience. I'm just beginning to wonder if I'm even getting that. I've never been outside of Ilia before, and I've only had to fight a few times. Really, I don't think I'm too far into that experience...maybe a little longer, and I'll be accepted as a Knight."
Flashing a smirk, and then shook in her armor, giving it a rattle. The metal clinked against each other, and really, Marle didn't even notice the weight of it anymore, since climbing the mountains.
"The Knights armor is going to be really heavy for me, but thankfully, I'm considering this armor I have now, to be pretty light. I suppose I have the strength to be a Knight, but not the experience, nor the capacity yet."

"Never been outside Ilia, eh? Well that's a shame. Never been there before, but from what Satty's told me, it's not all that exciting," replied Parry. Saturos just shrugged. He probably hadn't said such in so many words, but... "I don't want to diss anyone's home country," he responded, "but from an outsider's opinion, save for a few snow demons, it's not the first place I'd go for a party." Parry's eyes widened at the mention of snow demons. "Snow demons, you don't say..." he muttered, rubbing his chin. Saturos just chuckled. "I'll explain later, you crazy old fart."
The myrmidon turned towards Marle. "She's quite humble, but Marle here is quite the fighter. We were attacked by these bandits and she was just skewering them left and right." Saturos pretended to hold a spear, acting out thrusts and stabs while making crazy battle faces. Parry's laughter boomed as he patted his thigh. "Sounds like quite the adventure," said the old man with a chuckle. "You'll definitely have to tell me more about that one."

Marle's cheeks felt hot and flushed as Saturos described her fighting style. It was bit rough. Fighting with a lance wasn't as showy as Saturos's own fighting style, but it was the basics she had been taught. Rubbing the back of her head, she looked away with a glance to the ground, unsure really on how to react to Saturos' comments about her. Was she humble..? well...yeah, that seemed like a good word to describe herself as.
"Well, someday, I'll probably be as good with a weapon as you, Saturos."
She said that rather matter-of-factly Her green eyes still on the ground, cheeks red with embarrassment. Her eyes went up and traced a chain linked finger through the cash in her shoulder armor, with a slight frown on her face, and then looked up to the two men conversing with one another.
"Oh umm, what's this inn like? Does it got a big common area, tables to play cards, or chess or...anything at?"

Saturos frowned. While making a bit of a joke out of it, he had meant what he said as a compliment. For someone who "only had to fight a few times", she had fought quite well. Unfortunately, Marle had taken it as a criticism, and was now looking rather down in the dumps.
"I apologize," said Saturos, rubbing the back of his head. "I didn't mean to insult you. Your fighting was quite good." He held up a fist and tensed his arm. "Very fierce. Exactly what I've come to expect from Ilians..." The myrmidon's mind flashed back to an old pink-haired friend of his. Despite the mercenary's usual composure, he fought like a demon possessed. "Besides, you give me far too much credit. I'm no sword god myself." With a quick head nod, Saturos bowed back out, letting Parry answer Marle's question.
"In the inn? Aw, no, my inn ain't so fancy to have anything like that," he said, blowing the question aside. "The inn's got rooms where people sleep." He quickly glanced over his shoulder at Marle. "Good thing we're not going to the inn, though." Parry looked at Saturos, who nodded back.
The three approached a fairly large building and stopped. "That's my inn," he said, pointing at his place with a tone of satisfaction. He then moved his finger over to the building next to it, which was bustling with activity. "That's where we're going. The tavern." Parry slapped Saturos on the shoulder, once again causing the swordsman to stumble forward. "And Satty here is buying us all drinks!" The old man laughed, his salt and pepper jaw shaking up and down with his frame. "Come on, let's go have some fun!" He bounded off towards the inn. Saturos turned to Marle. "Well, you heard the man, let's go," he said, following after Parry.

Marle gave a little bit of a disbelieving look towards Saturos. She watched him closely and ran a hand through her hair and gave a small laugh at him, tapping the side of his arm with the butt of her lance, poking her tongue out a bit in jest, and stepping lightly, almost bouncing.
"I wasn't upset...just..."
She looked down for a moment and let her cheeks fill with heat again and shook her head, and was interrupted by Parry, tilting her head a bit. hey were going to the pub? Well, that was actually nice to know, she could use a stout drink in her...to warm her up. Her eyes followed Parry's finger as she was pointed out to which his Inn was, nodding in satisfaction, it was a good looking building, and the Tavern close by was quite convenient.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!"
She got left behind a little, and put a jump into her step as she then quickly followed Saturos and Parry, not wanting to get left behind. She tried straightening out her armor a bit, the messed up shoulderpad continually getting in her way as she moved...perhaps it would be better just to remove the piece of armor..

As the four moved inside the tavern, they could see that it was wild and bustling with life. Men and women were singing and laughing with gusto, mugs in their hands. There was one man waving his shirt around his head, dancing on the table while other men cheered him on. At one table it looked like a group of men were trying to play a poker game, but they kept getting sidetracked with jokes and stories, forgetting who had bet and how much.
Ducking a flying mug, Saturos turned back to Marle as Parry grabbed an empty table. "Just a forewarning: If you haven't noticed, it gets pretty wild in here-" Saturos stopped abruptly to dodge another mug. "Stop throwing mugs at me, Ty! You're going to have to pay for those!" he shouted at a drunken man sitting at a table, laughing his rear end off. "Buh Sat," the man slurred, "Aye got plenny an' yur so good at dogin' them!" He threw his arms back, sending another mug crashing into the wall behind him. Saturos just shook his head as Parry beckoned the three over to the table. "Oye, over here!" he boomed.

As Marle followed Saturos inside, she quickly learnt that being behind him was a bad idea. She had just moved out of the way of the first mug by quickly sidestepping, and hitting another man. She apologized, but the man didn't even seem to notice she was there. Grinning, she stood more to his left, and as Saturos moved out of the way of the second, she felt a bit of splash back hit her cheek as the mug whizzed by.
As the young knight wiped off her cheek, she heard Parry's voice over all the hustle and bustle, and quickly took a seat next to him. She could hear singing over her shoulder and, really, it irked her. The woman wasn't even singing the proper words to the song, nor well at all, but the stranger was smashed, so what would she care?
"You weren't kidding, this place is crazy, I have never seen such a thing...is there like, some sort of celebration going on? or is it always like this?"
Her lance was cumbersome in a place like this, so cramped, and really, she had no place to put it, so she rested it against the wall where it was in sight at all times. She took a load off when she was sitting down, almost melting into the chair, she was so relaxed.

"It's usually like this," groaned Saturos, "but it does seem a little bit more...violent today." He turned to Parry. "Is there something going on?" "Aye," replied the large framed Parry, "the big hunt is tomorrow." Saturos nodded knowingly as Parry continued. "Everyone gets excited the day before, but can you blame them? It's the biggest event of the year, especially for a sleepy town like ours." At Parry last comment, Saturos could only laugh.
"Right, because this town is totally sleepy," he chuckled, spreading out his arms to the chaos around them. A man, previously dancing and singing, came stumbling onto their table as he did. Saturos just shook his head as the man continued his drunken fall onto the ground. After the man groggily picked himself up and stumbled back to his comrades, the myrmidon turned back to the conversation. "I definitely understand the need to get one's party on, especially considering how dangerous tomorrow can be." A barmaid came up and place four mugs onto the table as Saturos talked. Saturos and Parry both gripped their mugs excitedly and started to drink.

Marle was a little bothered when the man ran into their table. he gave him a little bit of a shove off of it, so he;d be on his way a lot quicker. It was only then she was really interested in what Parry had to say, not to say she didn't before...but this event, 'The Hunt' sounded...interesting. Placing her elbows up onto the table, while one hand wrapped into the handle of the mug as she was served her ale, sipping at it at first, but swallowing deeply afterwards.
"Hunt? What kind of hunt? Do you Hunt deer or elk, or something like that?"
She had never heard of an event for such a thing before. Her eyes danced between Saturos and Parry, since Saturos even knew what it was about. She kept spinning the mug on the top of the table, and awaited eagerly to hear what this would be about.

Saturos took a swig of his ale, gasping with relief as he finished. "Oh, it's a just a mountain elk hunt," he said nonchalantly. "Every year this little town heads up into the mountains to hunt elk. It's for sport, but it also helps provide the villagers with food for the upcoming year." Saturos took another drink while Parry started in.
"That's all true," said the old man, "but there's a catch." Parry took a gulp of his drink, then slamming the mug back down on the table, he wiped the foam out of his beard. "You see, the biggest mountain elk herds live up in wyvern territory, and unsurprisingly enough, wyverns don't like bunches of people coming into their space." Parry pointed a finger towards the rest of the table. "That's where the fighting comes in: the best fighters in the village prove their salt by protecting the hunters from attacking wyverns."

Marle wasn't much of a drinker, and she could already feel it affecting how she acted, if only a little, as she finished off the mug while both Saturos and Parry talked amongst eachother, trying to explain this hunt to her. Her green eyes got really big at the mention of Wyverns, and she tipped over the mug that had, fortunately, been empty when she stumbled, gasping the table top.
"Wyverns!?"
Her voice seemed to carry throughout the entire room, drunken stupor seemed to halt as most eyes rested on her, as she was now standing up. The silence was momentary, and a great amount began laughing at her. Apparently her shock at the mention of Wyverns was a little...stupid..
Blushing deeply, she sat back down, but she leaned in close, after ordering another mug of ale for herself. Her eyes rested easily on the large man, gazing between him and Saturos.
"I thought Wyverns were only found in Bern! I didn't know there were any this far north..." she mumbled a little and began chewing on her lower lip, almost contemplating something out. Quietly, she sat there for a moment, and then looked to Saturos, tilting her head and leaning in a little closer, a bit too close almost.
"Hey Satty, we're going too, right?"
A wild grin overcame her, half at the idea, and the other half as another mug was brought to her part of the table, which she nursed at slowly.
