Things had got hectic fast. Yaen had just slain one, as had Chelsea and Valcrist, and Kelvin almost finished of another, before a fifth wolf sprung onto his chest. Gabriel got in front of Valcrist, rising his right arm while attempting to hold his Elfire tome on his left.
"Foul beasts, go back to hell and burn in it's flames for eternity!" he shouted as he launched a huge fireball towards the wolf attacking Kelvin. Hopefully, Kelvin would be able to get it away from him now, before he gets burned as well.
Gabriel dropped the book and fell to the ground as soon as he cast the spell. Why was he so weak? He pressed his hand against the wound on his arm, trying to stop the blood flow, hoping that the rest would finish off the wolves. Have...to stay...conscious.
OoC: 2 wolves are left, and one of them is wounded. Go for it, guys.

Yaen stared the last (uncrispy) hound down. The beast snarled back at him, showing its large fangs. The hound was the first to strike, and it pounced at him. Yaen didn't think. He merely let the adrenaline control his actions. He charged towards the flying barrage of teeth and claws and thrust out his right sword. It struck through the beasts mouth, straight through its head. Adrenaline still pumping through his veins, the Sacaen hacked at its neck with his left sword, severing the body from the head. "Never bare your fangs at me." he warned, using the left blade to push the head off the right. (Critical Hit)

"Sir Waltz!" He shouted as Gabriel clutched a wounded arm. A wolf landed just short of his feet a few moment earlier, he'd have to make a mental note to thank Chelsea later. But right now his job was to cover Gabriel, the wounded mage. So far, it didn't look like he wasn't doing a very good job. There was still one beast left, but if he charged after it, it'd be little more then foolish heroics. It was across the field, near Kelvin, he'd be able to take it down. Now he needed to focus on his commander, Sir Waltz.
He was right in front of Valcrist, having not moved much after the attack. The novice thrust his sword into the earth, not wanting to take the time to resheath the blade, but he needed both hands for this. A salve was retrieve from his pack, the swishing sound inside saying there's only enough for about two more wounds. Still, this was an emergency, and those did wonders to a man's stinginess. "Hold still Sir Waltz, it may sting but I'm going to put some Vulnerary on it..."

Chelsea watched as the final wolf mad for Kelvin. "Not on my watch you don't..." She muttered, pulling out a final arrow and quickly taking aim. She saw Gabriel's fire ball connect and deal some damage, but the beast was still alive. Not for long. She left her arrow fly true; it hit the wolf right in the chest as it jumped up again and fell to the ground. With a sigh of relief, she put away her bow. She was getting better at this.

Kelvin pushed the dead wolf off of his body and stood up, brushing himself off. He picked up his fallen lance and stabbed it through the creatures head, for good measure. He pulled it out and cleaned off the tip, then put it away on Kashmir's saddle. He really needed to pay more attention to his enemies. That was the third time he had been blind sided. He shook it off, and strode over to Chelsea. "That was some shot," he said," You really saved my neck there."

Chelsea gave her boyfriend a weary smile. "Well, Kelvin, one of us has to wear the pants in this relationship." She gave him a playful wink and a kiss on the cheek. "Besides, I happen to like your neck." She leaned against him slightly. This fight had been better. She hadn't gotten hurt and she protected her friends. She was improving.

OoC: I thought Elfire would have been enough to burn off even the bones of the wolf, but fine. An arrow works too.
IC: "T-thanks" Gabriel said as Valcrist tended to his wound. "Give me that Vulnerary if you want. You can keep mine. I've yet to use it". He looked through his pockets and found the small brown bag containing it. "It's..ugh...the least I can do to thank you. I'll be the one to watch your back next time". The salve was working quite fast, the bleeding having stopped for the most part. He still tried to keep his words short, so as not to stress himself.
"Is everyone else alright?" he asked, trying to get up. Starlight approached and attempted to get him up by the cloth hanging from his back, as Valcrist gave him a shoulder to rest on. "Hah. Thank you both".
"Yaen, you mentioned that it was because of them that...you got separated from your group?" he had to stop to breathe every few words. Why did he feel so bad?

"You're welcome sir Waltz..." Valcrist couldn't stop the sheepish smile on his face. It was nice to actually do something helpful. "And it's quite ok. You need that salve more then me." While it would be nice to replace his almost empty medicine with a full batch, he couldn't do that by taking someone else's stuff. No, he was a mage, and he probably needed the medicine far more then Valcrist. "Thank you though, sir Waltz."
The field was mostly deprived of everything except dead wolf-thing carcasses. "I think everyone's ok." He kept his comment short, hoping he was right. It seemed Gabriel got the worst of that encounter. Kelvin had his bacon saved by Chelsea before he became dog food, and Yaen really didn't even need their help like he said he didn't. Chels stayed back and sniped from afar, and Valcrist himself was completely unharmed. Hey, he won his first battle. Sure it was against some wolf thing and not a person, but it was still a thought worth celebrating.

Yaen stabbed his blades into the ground to clean them before sheathing them again. "Yes, it was, though probably not the same pack." he replied, sitting down on the ground. "I had departed from Laus with six others, one a knight of Laus. We were ambushed by them. One of us was a mage. He tried to drive them back by setting the ground between us aflame, but the fire spread faster than we could run. Amidst the smoke and chaos, I got lost. I barely got out alive." he explained. "Shortly after, I wandered into your group of soldiers, and now I'm here."

"Hey," Kelvin said, throwing his arm around Chelsea's shoulder, "I'm just glad neither of us got hurt too badly." He looked himself over just to make sure he wasn't hurt in places he couldn't feel. Everything looked alright and his armor had protected him from the wolf's claws. "And don't get too cocky," Kelvin added, smirking, "If that wolf hadn't blind-sided me, I could have taken him easily."

Chelsea giggled and gave Kelvin a humored look. "I'm sure you could have, sweetie. Just keep telling yourself that." She gave his arm a little pat and giggled again. She liked teasing him, it was fun. She looked around quickly to double check everyone was ok. Gabriel was hurt, but Val had it taken care of, and both he and Yaen seemed to be ok. Good, she thought. She turned back to Kelvin with a smile. "Do you need me to hold you hand as we cross the battlefield?"

"So.... you've fought these.... things before?" He asked. There was an inky air of silence that he just had to break. A mage huh? We're lucky Gabriel did no such thing... I don't think I could survive out here by myself. Gabe was leaning on him, but he saw that he had a pretty good grip on his horse. So he slowly, and tenuously pulled away. Making sure he could stand before fully leaving. As soon as he was free, he yanked his grounded sword out of the dirt. It came free easily, but was filthy. So he shook his blade hard, making the bits of blood and earth still staining it fling off. He pulled out some items from his bag to help cleaning, he was very serious when it came to his sword.
"Were they.... were they this bad last time you fought them?" He wondered, though not sure which answer would be better. They were really horrible looking, all mangy and furless with huge claws. He was almost insulted to have their blood on his blade. After a few moments, he looked at it in the light. Spotless, they ya go Fang.
He looked over and saw Kelvin and Chelsea having a tender boyfriend girlfriend moment. He should go interrupt. "Hey, Chelsea!" He called, re-sheathing his now clean blade. "Nice shot, you made sure that thing never touched me. Thanks."

Chelsea gave a little grimace and looked over at Val. Something had to interrupt them sooner or later. Oh well. "No problem, Val. Just doing my job." She gave him a real smile and nodded to Fang. "I saw you finally got that pretty sword of yours dirty. Told ya you could do it." She kept her hand wrapped in Kelvin's as they talked. It was nice to know that they were all coming along as both fighters and friends. It made her happy.

He saw her grimace as she looked over, but instead of feeling bad for stopping their little mushy moment, he felt deviously happy. "It must be hard to use a bow. I mean you're all..." He rose his hand, mimicking the holding of a bow... he was probably holding the imaginary bow all wrong. "Pow!" He let go of the pantomimed string. "And you pop them in the head with a tiny sliver of wood. Impressive." He smiled, walking closer.
"I'm kinda bummed it got dirty actually. I guess I'm starting to see why people don't use weapons like this very often in battle. The gem on it's hilt fell off earlier while I was training..." He held the blade limply, looking at it upside down with a sort of frown. "Ah well, I'll get over it. Fang isn't meant to just sit around an look pretty." He studied her bow for a second. Catching all kinds of little details. "Good thing you were around, Kelvin would of got his self hurt otherwise." He laughed.

Chelsea gave a little laugh. "Good thing I was around for both Klevin and you." She corrected him. She took out her bow again and ran her fingers over it. She really loved this thing. As she smiled slightly to herself, she noticed Val giving it a look over. She held it up. "Do you wanna take a look at it?"
