"Well, I could of taken them like it was nothing!" He laughed and pointed his thumb to his self. Then he waited a moment and laughed again. "Actually, no. I probably couldn't. Thanks again." He rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment, a sheepish grin on his face. When she offered the bow he had stared at, he dropped it and stared for a second. "Hrm... if... if it doesn't... bother you." He stuttered, feeling a bit embarrassed over borrowing the girl's weapon. He took it in his hands and looked it over.
He turned it in his hands, looking at it from a bunch of different angles, from one eye, then the other. He was, for lack of a better word, studying it. He could make bows, but he wasn't the best. If he wanted to, he'd probably have to spend a long time on it. Remaking it, over and over, to make sure it turned out just right... It was worn more in certain spots then others, places where she held the bow often. With careful fingers, he tugged at the string, just a bit. He wanted to see how taut it was.
"Hrm... whoever made this bow did a good job." He smiled after a few moments of this weird studying. His blacksmith mind was running overtime, while his normal mind was passively waiting for it's turn. "It's effective, and well made, and very practical. Not particularly forceful delivery of arrows, but it would be a while before it broke as opposed to a heavier bow..." he muttered to his self. "A bit on the plain side though." I could do better. He thought with a grin.
"Oh, um, sorry Chelsea. I kinda get... lost when I look at weapons. It's kinda embarrassing actually." He was nervously laughing, handing the bow back to her like he didn't just pour over it for five minutes. I'd kill to get a close look at Yaen's sword... maybe if I stay his student long enough he'll let me see? "Here, take it back. It's a good weapon."

The archer gave a laugh and accepted her bow back. "It's ok, Val." She gave him a little pat on the shoulder. "We all get a little crazy sometimes," she said with a slight smirk, remembering how she had freaked out on Kelvin not too long ago. She still was embarrassed about that and wouldn't let Val feel bad about it. She happily put her bow away, and gave the novice another look and a wink. "And just cause my bow is 'a bit on the plain side,' doesn't mean it won't kill you."

"But you're never shoot little old me, would you? I think you'd shoot me in the heart before you hit my body." He laughed then stayed silent for a minute. He immediately spoke up again. "Erm, by, um hit me in the heart, I meant I would be, um hurt. N-not something else. That's just, silly. Heheh..." Idiot.
"Erm... Anyways, heheh... I didn't mean anything wrong by kinda plain. I just meant it was clearly meant to be used as a weapon, and looks as such. Nothing extra, nothing frilly, just a simple and plain weapon." He laughed nervously. "I think... I think I'll go over there now before I say something else stupid." He tried to give a smile, but it kinda failed and looked awkward. "Bye Chelsea, bye Kelvin. I leave you two to your boyfriend/girlfriend deal." With that he was off, his sword in his sheath. Yaen and Sir Waltz are still talking. I should do something so as to not waste my time... So he looked around, and found a stick. He drew a long line in the earth, and began walking across it like it was a high wire in the circus. A cheap ripoff of Yaen's training, but in this place it was better then nothing.

Chelsea wore a bemused expression as Val walked away. She turned her head and looked up at Kelvin. "Val is... interesting, wouldn't you say?" She let out a giggle and turned around to face her boyfriend again and rested her head on his chest, her eyes looking up at him. "Sooooooooooooooo? What do you wanna do now, Mr. Boyfriend?"

"Well," Kelvin said, "The battlefield probably isn't the best place for a date wouldn't you say?" Kelvin added throwing his arm over her shoulder. "We might as well go see what Gabriel wants us to do." Kelvin started to walk towards the mage, bowing his head slightly as he approached. "Sir Gabriel, what orders do you have for us now?"

Gabriel clung to Starlight and attempted to climb up. His arm still hurt like hell, though the worst had passed. He finally managed to get on top of his horse after a few tries.
"I might have been named second in command by Rayl, but even I don't know why that was. You don't need to bow" he said and stopped to rub the wound on his arm. "W-we don't have much more to do here now. Maybe it's best if we headed back for Laus. The troops we sent back there should be around halfway home, but we have one final message to deliver before we can rest."
"Come on, girl, let's go" he said, stroking Starlight's mane and getting hold of the reins with his right hand. I'll need to get a cleric to see my arm as soon as we get there...A vulnerary should have had a greater effect on the wound by now.
He leaned his body on Starlight's back, letting her lead the way back. If they veered away from course, someone would tell him. He just needed to rest right now.

Chelsea watched Gabriel get up on his horse and figured she might as well do the same. She gave a quick whistle and Spirit came trotting over. Smiling, she jumped up onto the horse, giving her mane a soft rub. "Good girl." She looked over to Kelvin. "Hurry up, slowpoke. We have places to go and people to see. Or something like that." She gave a little giggled and trotted forward a little, closer to the others and waited.

Yaen stood up and fell in line. "I'll go with you for now." he said. "However, I may leave soon for the border. I have not seen the plains in five years, and I am somewhat homesick." he explained. He was tired of wandering around Lycia, especially now with the war out. He needed to go back to Sacae. There was war there too, but at least it was home.

Valcrist took his spot in the group of people. Chelsea was off with her boyfriend, and Val took up a spot closer to the back. He didn't want to ride with Chelsea anymore, it just too odd. He got enough of their lovey couple crap as it is, he didn't need a front row seat. Fingering his sheathed blade, he just kinda stared ahead with no particular expression. They all had plans over what to do, but what would he do?
He dove into his pack, and pulled out his sketching book along with some charcoal. Nothing else to do, right? Flipping through the pages absentmindedly, he saw a few of his drawings, including that one he made just as he arrived in Laus the other day. With a furrowed brow and a grimace on his face, he stared at the picture in the book. In one swift motion, he ripped it out and crumpled it into a ball, shoving it into the deepest reaches of his things.

It would take them two to three days of traveling to get back to Laus. Gabriel intended to give news of Ostia's fall to the marquess before moving back towards Pherae.
"Wonder what happened to Rayl..." he muttered. Perhaps the Paladin had already made his way back to the ranch? What about Saffra? Or Lucy? He'd have to stop by Laus' hospital anyway, to have a medic take a look at the wound that wolf had made. It still sting, as if it were fresh.
"Stupid summer...making things harder on us". The heat was unbearable. Thankfully, there were some clouds up in the sky, forewarning the coming rain. "We might have to find somewhere to take refuge in. Staying through the night under the rain is not really the best of ideas" he said, looking back at the rest of the group.

Chelsea gave a nod. "I love the rain, but I agree it's probably not the best idea for a group like us. I'd say either find some kind of building to get in for the night, for set up the tents under some trees to help shelter." She looked around and gave Kelvin a week. "I know you have no problem with sharing a tent," she joked before turning back to Gabriel. "It's up to you."

OoC: Continued from Lycia> Nowhere towards somewhere.
Aaron continued on the small lane they'd found. He was expecting it to drop them out on the main road soon, but so far, it hadn't. Still, it was a road, and they were headed in generally the right direction... most of the time.
He looked up through the trees on either side of their road, to the clouds, suddenly feeling a change. He lifted his hand in a halting gesture. "Feel that? The air changed. I can taste water in the air... We're probably going to have some rain." To bad for me. My cloak doesn't have a hood. Egh... I guess I should go ahead and invest in one, next time I'm in a city...
"I guess we've got a couple choices. We can press on, or we can try to find some kind of shelter in the area." He waited. He knew that he needed to hurry, but would the travel gained be worth the energy he spent? Probably not. Besides, the others had a say in this too.

Leanin struggled to keep up, how much longer did they have to go before they could rest. She even started to have doubts about Aaron's geography knowledge. At the mention of rain she shivered, she'd rather want to make it somewhere with a roof before it started, but as it was, she wasn't sure she'd manage to walk that far.
She shrugged, press forward or find shelter, it was easy to answer for her " Shelter, I can't really walk much longer, she knew that if she said that, atleast the other girls would probably decide to find shelter too. She pursed her lips in though, "Uhm, unless you'd want to carry me trough the rain, I mean." she muttered, playing with a thread of hair.
Leanin threw a quick glance around her, it was not really the most pleasant area to wait for the rain, nor did it seem that there was much shelter anywhere close, sighing she decided that they would have to walk quite a bit either way.

The rain had begun to fall. The group picked up the pace, trying to find a place to spend the rest of the day.
"Over there!" Gabriel shouted, trying to make himself be heard over the sound of the droplets. Mountains. If he wasn't mistaken, there was a huge mountain range to the north of Laus. It was impossible to tell just which side of them they were at now, but that didn't matter. As long as they found some sort of roof, they could figure out things in the morning.
A few minutes later, they had found a small cave-like opening. It was barely big enough for the horses not to hit their head with the ceiling, though Kelvin, the tallest of them, would probably have to lower his head. Gabriel took out some branches and two logs he had been carrying on his backpack and started a fire. "When you specialize on fire magic, it's never a bad idea to carry flammable things around with you. It won't last long, but at least it's something."
His arm still stung. Just what were those beasts?

Yaen sat down cross-legged at one end of the cave, and began wringing out his hair. "Sometimes I contemplate just cutting it short..." he complained to himself. Of course, he never would. He felt a tingling sensation from the heat, silently thanking Father Sky that they had a mage with them. "Well, one of us is going to have to go out and find firewood." he pointed out. "On second thought, two of us, just to be safe. Any volunteers?"
