Name : Mana of Hawkeye
Class : Myrmidon - Swordmaster
Hair Color : Black
Eye Color : Black
Age: 16 (now around 18 years old)
Appearance:
Mana has a long black hair which she rarely let loose, preferring to keep them up into a ponytail and hold them up with headband. As her hairs keep growing longer, some strands begin to fall down to the side of her face. Like most Sacaen, the girl possess sharp black eyes. She is standing at 5'7" and has toned body from her swordplay training. People who see her for the first time might mistake Mana as a boy because of her tomboyish behavior and her choice of hairstyle.
Clothes:
Mana wear a typical female Sacaen outfit. A simple purplish Sacaen clothing with green light vest covering her top combined with a short skirt. A belt wraps around her waist where she straps her swords there. Her skirt is designed short and with a small cut on each sides to give mobility. Mana mostly will be seen wearing simple and practical outfit that matches her adventuring lifestyle. She doesn't like wearing dresses so she can only be seen wearing those in rare occasion like ceremonies or rituals. Not that she hates looking girly or anything, she just like clothes that don't restrict her movement.
Born in: Sacae
The Beginning:
Mana was a daughter of Tora and Kayla of Hawkeye tribe. However, she never met her father because he had died in a battle against bandits three months before she was born. Kayla then raised her alone as a single mother. She gave Mana her love and full attention, wishing her to be the happiest child in the world.
She had always been interested to swordplay since she was just a little girl. Her mother and her friends then taught the little girl how to handle a sword and she eventually began to show her talent. Still had a long way to go, of course, but she had excelled and surpassed even the boys from the same generation. Being very diligent and dedicated, she loved training and training although as a growing child she would sometimes ditch her training to play in the plains. The Sacaen girl loved the sea of grasses very much, its green meadow and clear blue sky was simply too beautiful.
Mana was a cheerful girl, single-minded, and quite stubborn. She never let someone who fooled her to escape so easily and always did what she thought right. Yet, she was quite clumsy herself. "Never let someone hurt your friends." was her favorite motto and she was always dedicated to protect everyone dear to her. How to describe her? An easy-going girl and had many friends, thanks to her good traits. Her stubbornness and clumsiness often brought her into many troubles but she would survive...sometimes.
One day, she came back home from her friend's tent and found a stranger in her house. The spirited girl almost attacked him when her mother came in and then told her about what happened. That day, Mana got a brother, which she didn't know whether she was the younger or older one. Anyway, she did act shy at first but then warmed up to him. .
They grew close like real siblings. Rein was a gentle and reliable brother despite didn't talk much so Mana didn't need a long time to warm up to him. They often went to the river or forest together. They also had a brother-sister rivalry when it came to sword. In the end, Rein always proved that he was the better one, a fact that motivated Mana to train harder.
One day, she had finished her laundry and prepared to go to the place where Rein was waiting for her. However, the village was attacked by a group of bandits suddenly. The villagers put a brave resistance but eventually got themselves overwhelmed in the end of battle. Mana went looking for her mother and then found her lying lifeless on the ground. Consumed by rage, she drew her sword to kill every bandit she encountered. Mana fought valiantly before got hit on her head and fainted.
When Mana woke up, she found herself and some other women were tied inside a carriage. They had their mouth gagged by some kind of fabric. Refusing to accept her fate in the hand of these bandits, whatever it would be, Mana struggled and jumped down the carriage then escaped into a forest. The bandits made a huge mistake by not binding her legs as her agile legs gave her advantage against her slow pursuers.
Finally escaped but stranded in foreign land she knew nothing about, the girl struggle had only begun.
Summary of her journey:
Mana was saved by some knights who coincidentally were travelling down the road she took. After saving her and giving her first aid, they introduced themselves as Cebrail and Reylan. It turned out that she was taken into Lycia. It was difficult to start over in foreign land but Mana decided to go along with these knights for time being. Here she met Selibas, a younger boy who someday would mark his name in history as a brave chief of his tribe. They both were still young and green but they were quick learner and somehow managed to fight alongside the Lycian knights.
A mission taken place in Etruria went toward bad direction and the group scattered. Mana was alone in foreign land which despised Sacaens. Thankfully, she didn't need to be alone for long as her fate brought her to two charming men, Garnet and Elias. With new comrades to stay with, the young Sacaen went into another dangerous adventures. One of them involved an ancient ruin full with nether energy. Whatever within that ruin attacked the party with nightmare and illusion. It didn't turn out well and Mana end up unconscious but the party survived and celebrated afterward.
Mana said goodbye to the party when they had to separate and return to each own personal journey. The nightmare from the ruin had been haunting her and made her afraid to return to Sacae plains. She simply wasn't brave enough to face the possibility...or the fact...that her tribe had been completely destroyed. Carrying that heavy feeling, the swordswoman stumbled into a village which had been terrorized by a mercenary group for some time. Maybe it would have turned out differently if Mana knew some diplomacy but her impulsive nature kicked in and she leaped into a battle against those mercenaries. Some brave individuals, notably a pair of adventurers Yaen and Wein, helped her beat back the first wave of enemies. Things went more dangerous soon after when the leader of the mercenaries came personally to avenge the death of his son in the first battle. Mana and her new comrades were outnumbered but Wein's tactic and Yaen's ferocity won the battle in the end.
The new party decided to stay together afterward. They soon got pulled into a hunt for Arum Lily and met the wise sage Aaron. Unfortunately, Mana's memory about that hunt was fuzzy and she barely understood what happened. She only knew that they then ended up in a nice mansion belong to Aaron's friend. For the first time for a while, Mana could finally enjoy a long rest with warm bath and nice food.
Mana had gotten used to adventuring lifestyle now. Saying goodbye to the others, she then headed west to Etruria. It was supposed to be an adventure but she had to leave Etruria as soon as she stepped into their border. If it wasn't because a kind blacksmith helping her, she would probably have captured or killed by Inquisitional soldiers for simply being a Sacaen. The blacksmith saved her and helped her getting out of the town after some fight with those crazy soldiers. It was blessing in disguise. By going through this ordeal, Mana found a friend who would embrace many adventures together with her afterward. His name was Wyatt, the same kind blacksmith who had helped her. They began to feel comfortable with each other and soon developed an unconditional bond.
Fate guided them to a secluded temple and they met a living legend, Kenshin the Crimson Demon. It was a strange fateful event that began Mana's life as inheritor of Kenshin's sword and maybe also his duty for protecting the plains. Even Mana herself never expected to draw Falcatta, the legendary sword used by the Crimson Demon in the infamous Bandit War many years ago. This didn't change the girl much though. but she indeed developed some sense of responsibility for being the owner of such sacred weapon. The sword was quiet the first time she held it but it would begin speaking with her soon.
After the event at Falcatta temple, they continued toward their main destination which was a grand tournament in Bern that gathered many strong fighters of Elibe and promised glory to the champion. Some familiar faces appeared and Mana was more than delighted to greet them. Mana and Wyatt themselves came to compete in the tournament so they signed up for the beginning of a soon would be historical moment in Elibe. Yes, it wasn't a simple tournament. Some powerful people pulled some strings behind the scene and started a conspiracy to eliminate a great Ilian general and his comrades. The first and second rounds went smoothly but the tournament then turned into a chaotic battleground when a thunder dragon entered the stage. Many lives lost that day.
Mana was just a girl trapped in such unfortunate moment. She wasn't a hero or a saint. But that day she stepped up to where most people ran away from. Mana raised Falcatta against the thunder dragon and fought the majestic creature with the help of Wyatt and many other arena contestants. By every roar and burst of thunder breath, Mana was taught how powerful a dragon compared to any human. The battle was difficult and life-threatening moment came close a few times but in the end the combined assault by the arena contestants and Bern soldiers depleted the dragon's strength. It fell and disappeared with a burst of light. It was a win...but with terrible cost...
Mana stayed with Wyatt as the latter was recovering from the burn he had gotten from getting hit by thunder breath head on. It broke her heart and she realized for the first time how she cared for him. Her feeling ran deeper than mere friendship. It was more than that. Although it was unclear if Wyatt reciprocated her affection or not, he showed he cared for her and their relationship seemed to develop further. Mana and Wyatt's old friend, Elias the Crimson Mage, came with a magical healing staff but it too produced no result to Wyatt's scorched legs. However, the magic was able to lessen his pain and enable him to walk again although the damage remained permanently.
It had been crazy days and it would be nice to have a little rest. Mana, Wyatt, and Elias headed to Sacae after letting the injured blacksmith rest a few more days. It was nice to forget chaos and fighting for a while as they visited the Moonlight Festival. Their exhaustion was washed up by fresh Sacaen traditional drink and exotic food replenished their energy. After whatever had happened so far, it was a nice break.
Even Sacae plains couldn't escape the wind of war. Both Etrurian force and the resurrected Bandit King tested the mettle of Sacaens and their allies. One of the biggest battle in history erupted in City of Heroes when Hargus, the Bandit King, seek revenge against Kenshin. Warriors gathered in the city and chose their side as the call of war reached even to Ilia and Bern. Knowing what was at the stake, Mana brought Falcatta and participated in the battle on the side of Kenshin. She fought valiantly against the invaders and their monsters. The battle continued for days and weeks until Hargus himself was slain by combined attack from a few warriors. A warrior called Ilheod, who soon would be famous for his heroic deed, personally delivered the killing blow and damned Hargus to hell once more.
Mana didn't stop jumping onto another battlefield afterward. She personally hunted an Arum warrior that had mysteriously made an appearance in the battle against Hargus and joined the united Sacaen army against the invading Etruria army. The young warrior knew that it was her calling and she would never stop to fight for her homeland.
Now the Sacaen maiden was busy learning to be a good mother for her adopted child. This baby lost his parents to the evil Arum so Mana decided to adopt him. It was...new experience for her but she was excited to learn.
To be continued...
