Reylan listened quietly as Balthier finished his request. At the sound of "girlfriend", Reylan silently mouthed "shut your trap", somewhat urked. Still, the mage's plan was quite clever.
"Good choice. I'll let you scout out the area once this meeting is over. It's about half a day away from here. You have my full permission to take Mana and Bridget with you." Reylan's response was as legitimate is can be. Bowing to the council, he noticed that they were slightly upset. "Please forgive his rudeness. He has a distaste for nobles."
With that, the meeting was adjourned, and Reylan exited the tent, offering Balthier some parting words. "Be careful. The Inquisitional Army is not to be taken lightly. Should you be seen by them, retreat."

Balthier smiled as Reylan bowed to the nobles, and Balthier glared at them... they returned it, equally fierce.
Upon leaving the tent, Balthier offered a hand. "In that case, farewell. I shall inform them of this... we'll have one last night here at this camp, then I'll take them and leave tomorrow."
Balthier felt himself ready for everything that was to come.

Mana had finished her morning training and walked around the camp. She was looking for Cebrail, she really wanted to talk with him. They hadn't talk again since they left Santaruz.
She saw Balthier and Reylan near the command tent, and the nobles also started to get out from tent. Judging by their looks, the nobles were irritated by something, or someone. Mana approached her friends and smiled, but again, she forgot what Bridget had taught her yesterday. "Hey," she said. Her eyes glanced to Cebrail who still inside the tent before she turned to Balthier. "Can someone tell me what happened? That people have sour expression on their faces." Mana pointed to the nobles who still grumbling.

OoC: How is Balthier level 6? XDXDXD
Cebrail was still sitting at the table when everyone left. He toyed around with his thoughts. Balthier had just arrived and was ready to depart yet again. It was a good idea to bring him in though.. He got up and went outside. He found Reylan, Balthier and Mana chatting about the representatives.
"Balt, you just arrived yesterday. Are you sure you want to go to the border?" He'd be happy to go in his friend's place. Maybe he needed some rest. If not, then he would stay and go over general training with the rest of the men. They'd need it.

OoC: Balthier is a trainee class. They level faster, according to the post=level system.
IC:
Balthier's ears perked up and his head turned as Cebrail addressed him. He nodded to himself slowly, considering the words.
"I'm aware. And as unfortunate as it is, I feel as if I must depart yet again. This time, though..." He smiled for a moment. "I'll take some people with me, so there's reason to come back." He laughed quietly, clearly kidding.
"Such a short time, here and there again, but... I must go. It is for the future good of us]/b], my friend, as friends - but not only that, as soldiers, united by a bond both of friendship, loyalty..." He stopped himself and bit his lip. "And all the other wartime nonsense." He winked jokingly at Cebrail, then stood.
"Yes. I will leave tomorrow, provided those I plan to take with me care to come."

OoC: Short post, did this on the way out somewhere.
IC:
Reylan eyed Balthier. "It's getting late. I suggest going to bed soon, since you'll have to awaken at dawn again."
The young knight sighed, returning to his tent. Balthier had expressed interest in taking Bridget with him. Reylan grew skeptical at the thought. Although the mage assured him she'd be safe under his care, especially since she was known for stealth, Reylan felt uneasy.
However, he had nothing to worry about. The violet-eyed thief could easily take care of herself.

OoC: Short post, simply because I probably won't post again until morning, unless somebody decides they want to talk to Balthier.
IC:
"Yes, indeed. I will be well rested." Balthier placed a hand on Reylan's shoulder. "Now mind you, this is the only time I can be serious with you. " He smiled, and laughed a bit. "You guys be careful... Do you understand?" He let go, and turned, lifting his hand.
"And I will as well. Goodnight." He jumped enthusiastically on his rock, and began to whistle.

Before Balthier scurried off to his tent, Reylan responded to his request. "Don't worry about us. Cebrail and I will guard this camp with our lives. We will not disappoint you."
Since Balthier appreciated humor, Reylan decided to add in his own corny statement. "Make sure no one gets their limbs chopped off."
That remark was actually somewhat serious, since the probability of his allies actually surrendering their limbs to the Inquisitional Army was rather high. Still, Reylan could not afford to let cowardice restrain him.

Bridget's eyes opened slowly, and she let out a loud, unladylike yawn.
The thief exited Reylan's tent, holding a brush in her hand. She saw Reylan, Cebrail, Balthier, and Mana standing together, so she approached them. As usual, she just stood there, listening to their conversation. She ran the brush through her hair while the others talked. When the talking was done, she looked at Mana. "I heard something about us going somewhere. Very exciting. Although it pains me to leave the soldiers here with no feminine wisdom, I am excited to finally get to do something." she remarked.

"Balt said he will take us with him to Etruria." Mana didn't like that idea, she had a grudge against Etruria because they attacked Sacae. But, she wouldn't refuse, she didn't have any good reasons to do that. "We must protect each other's back, Bridget." She answered her with a wide smile.

With Balthier and the girls gone, the only people in camp were Reylan, Cebrail, and the soldiers. Exhaling deeply, the green-haired knight retrieved his lance from a nearby tree trunk. He ran his fingers over the metal shaft, examining it for scratches, bumps, or any other kind of wear. As he felt the cold material under his fingertips, he frowned slightly. My lance is starting to wear down... I might have to find a blacksmith or an armory in the next town.
On the other hand, Reylan's armor was still in good condition. There were a few small scratches on it from the battle with the Night Crawlers, but other than that, it was relatively unscathed. Giving a quick once-over of the encampment, Reylan noticed Cebrail sitting near the area's center.
Reylan approached him, nodding casually for a greeting. "Well, Balthier and the others left. I think he had a right mind to lead the expedition."
At that moment, a thought popped into the young cavalier's brain. "Cebrail... I know we haven't spoken much, but would you like to spar with me? There's a tent full of training lances over there. I think it'd be in our best interest to train a bit. If Balthier finds something unusual or dangerous, we need to be prepared." Reylan gestured towards a medium sized tent, located near the dining tent. "I'll fight you on foot, that way it's fair. Besides, that horse is still difficult to control. Don't worry, I was also trained to wield a lance on foot, in addition to mounting assaults on horseback."

OoC: Short post. Past midnight. Tired. Just finished an essay. Will be back late tomorrow, play practice.
Cebrail thought for a moment. Sadly, it was true. He and Reylan really hadn't spoken very much. It was also true that they would need some training, especially since they would end up fighting against the Inquisitional army. He nodded and picked up his spear. He gripped it with both his hands and stood ready.
"Well then, this will be interesting. I'm fine with this spear." With that, he quickly lunged at Reylan. As the spear was thrust towards Reylan, Cebrail quickly spun it in his hands, giving it an almost drill like property.

Reylan snatched up a practice spear as Cebrail took the first lunge. Without assusimg a combat position, Reylan quickly sidestepped Cebrail's lunge, albeit clumsily. Perfect, the green-haired knight thought. He's concentrating on both hands. He'll have a lot of feedback from the lance. Which means I should be able to strike him...
As Cebrail tried to reposition himself, Reylan switched hands and quickly jabbed his left side. However, Reylan had overstretched his left arm, causing it to take a couple seconds longer for him to draw back. Cebrail would surely land a hit on him now. Unless...
Reylan took a small hop backwards, attempting to avoid Cebrail's next blow. However, he was nicked by the blunted tip of the spear, causing a dull pain in his side. The spar was seemingly even at the moment.

Reylan hoped backwards, attempting to dodge an oncoming attack no doubt. With a quick jab, the blunt tipped spear sent a dull pain into his side.
One handed... longer reach, but... He brought the lance down hard onto Reylan's, hoping to disarm him. But a weaker grip.
A small crowd began to surround the two newly instated captains. They'd be leading two separate groups, the men were interested in how skilled they were. Gold was being tossed about, bets were being made. Cebrail smiled. It was a good way to get everyone excited, a good way to get everyone ready to go over their own basic training.
He twisted around and brought his spear down again on Reylan.
