"Yes it is hard. I am looked down upon for the fact I do not follow Elimine, and my ways in general. But I can't change who I am and what I believe in. I am hunted probably close to the amount as you are my friend.
The biggest problem I have is that my mother was captured by the Inquisition to try to bait me out. See I have picked up the skills of Preaching my thoughts onto others as the Church does. Only difference is my teachings are a choice and a mirror.
So are you sure we can trust this Cecil man?"

THen we make good companions. I don't have to worry about endangering you by us being seen together.
The tactics of this new Eturian regime made Garnet's skin crawl. How could they all have fallen to something as low as threatening innocents? How did this even happen in the first place?
"The life of an outlaw is never easy. Least of all those who profess to be a holy man, and then preach differently than this Prophet wishes."
Nathaniel didn't seem to want to talk about all that though, as he brought up Cecil.
"I wouldn't say I trust him, but his story about the hills holds true. They are difficult to navigate, and are controlled by bandits. I used to patrol the road near them, and caught more than a few working their mischief.... And if it gives me a fast way out of the country, I can stand to assist him. Plus... the others all seemed so excited to go and visit the dead man's tomb that I could hardly bring myself to disappoint them."
This last bit was sarcasm, of course. Traveling with Cecil had been something born out of convenience, and while he didn't mistrust the man, neither was he walking in with blind eyes.
"There are four of us, and one of him. If he turns out to be a hostile, then we run him through. Simple as that. But I'm not expecting him to turn on us. Why take us all the way to the border hills of Etruria just to betray us?"

Nathaniel thought for a minute. Usually he wouldn't be caught dead as the voice of reason. But this was different he saw a possibility of something bad happening and simply wanted to be prepared.
But he thought of the reason fairly quick, "Well if he wants to take the mgic or any other secrets of this mans tomb, then it would make sense to kill the party he was with. I would suggest you tell Elias to keep an eye on him. After all Scarlet is much more adept than I in the arcane arts."

"That's a disturbing thought, but let's not jump to any conclusions" Garnet rubbed his beard as he considered for a moment. "I'm not unfamiliar with scams and betrayal, but I won't let myself be ruled by suspicion. I try and be as ready with a helping hand, as I am with the warrior's blade."
The merc reached down and gripped the handle of the giant iron blade strapped to his saddle.
"I'll mention it to him though. Death is something I'd like to avoid."
Up ahead, it seemed that Mana had managed to get Elias stopped. They'd be Apparently, the galloping horse had been more out of control than the Red-headed merc had thought. That or Elias was just an inept horseman. At least he seemed to be alright now.

As they continued on their way for a few hours, they would see the terrain change from the worked land around settlements, to small swells of earth with patchy forests, to the foothills of the mountains of southern Etruria itself. It would be there, someplace in the rise and fall of those hills, that they would camp for the night before arriving, hopefully refreshed, at their destination the next day.
