"Ah, so here we are! Nice city, pherae!" Sabin said with a big smile on his face.
Pherae seemed to be really happy and busy. Sabin wondered why these people would be happy, but he decided to play safe and just blend in with the crowd.
He asked one of the townsfolk," What is all the ruckus here about? Everyone seems very excited."
"Oh, you do not know? How ignorant of you. Sir Rayl has returned with many knights running alongside him! Our saviour is back!" the man replied.
The saviour huh? Sabin had heard a lot about this Rayl, since he entered Lycia. Many tales describing the knight's valiant deeds. If sabin could just work under this Rayl, he was sure, he would be getting a big adventure. More fights, more sightseeing, and more pay. The question was, how would he do it?
He asked the man," So, where are all of them staying then?"
"At Rayl's Ranch of course!" the man replied.
Sabin decided he'd need to explore the town. Find this Rayl's Ranch, and spy on him. He wanted to get the best oppurtunity when present.
So he was off.

Guinevere slowly opened her eyes. With a yawn, she sleepily looked around. When she remembered where she had slept and who it had been next to, she felt her face go red. Then she wondered where Rayl had gone off to. She slipped gracefully from the bed, wiping her eyes as she went. Slowly, she changed over from her night gown to a new dress, this time a blue one, very similar in color to Rayl's armor. As she went to leave, she decided to leave her equipment here for now. They weren't riding off just yet and she didn't want to walk around in armor so early in the day.
Gwen looked around the house for Rayl, ignoring glances from several soldiers as she did. Finally, she spotted him through a window standing outside. Smiling, she made her way out of the house and silently over to the paladin. Before he knew she was there, she wrapped both her arms around his left one and laid her head lightly on his shoulder. "Good morning Rayl."

As sunlight streamed through the only window of the room, Jade opened his eyes. He stretched his arms wide. He looked around the room.
The room looked different in the bright light than it had yesterday. In the sunlight, the room looked more hospitable and comfortable and more details of the room were revealed than the room before. Jade looked at every corner of the room, yet again taking in all the tiny details of the room. Even a small design carved into the ceiling in a corner did not escape his attention. This was what he usually did when he had nothing to do or when he needed some space to think. He usually looked around and took note of every tiny little detail. It had also helped him to train his memory, so it was worth it to do so.
After his examination of the room, Jade looked over at Aaron, who was still sleeping. He replayed in his mind the conversation of the night before, and smiled. After going for this long, he had finally found someone he could talk to and end the loneliness that had overcome him during the past few months. Also, Aaron had seemed... like a brother that he didn't have. Jade enjoyed that brotherly feeling, as well as the conversation from last night.
Jade put his hand under his pillow and took out the picture of him and his parents. He looked at his parents' faces. Although, this time, he did not cry out like before. It was after Aaron's comforting that he did not cry. He was truly strong now, and he also had a friend, definitely a long way to have come from how he was a year or even two ago.

Stephan had spent the night in a tent on the manor grounds. His bedroll had been hard and his back ached a bit but he got up regardless. He left his gear in the tent and stepped out into the light, squinting his eyes a bit. He stretched his arms and walked away from the tent. Moving down one of the dirt paths, he spotted a horse rider in the distance.
Well, I may have failed my original mission, but I'm sure causing some dissent in the "liberation army" would please Lord Kraft just as well. Maybe I can convince this newcomer of their wrongs. The monk picked his pace up a bit and approached the horseman. Holding his tome tucked in his left arm, he looked up the rider, "Excuse me brother, but would you be lost?"

Aaron stirred slightly at the noise across the room, and... rolled over. Unfortunately for him, he hadn't been paying attention, and he rolled completely out of the bed, falling to the floor with a soft thump. There he lay for a few seconds, before a quiet "Ow." could be heard.
With the mornings excitement over for a time, he pulled himself up off the floor, and noticed Jade already awake. "The carpeting is rather nice, is expected for a house like this one, I suppose."
The mage stood up, and pulled his from his sleeping braid, shaking it out and using his fingers to try and loosen some of the knots. "How you doing?"

Jade had looked on at the picture, even as Aaron stirred and fell on the floor. He had only lifted his head up when Aaron had asked him how he was.
Turning his head around, he replied bluntly, "Fine. Thanks for the story last night. It reminded me that I have to face the realities of the real world regardless of what I do, so I should face it with a smile rather than with a frown."
Placing the picture into his pack, Jade spoke again, "So... I am to meet Sir Rayl today... Right..? Will you or anyone else be there?"

"Mmm. Glad to help. It was fun telling it." I didn't think I was old enough for my stories to have lessons in them. With a smooth step, the mage climbed to his feet, and began straightening himself as best he could, before tying back his hair in it's usual tail.
"Sir Rayl, Gabriel... and whoever else. There's a small army quartered here, it seems." Aaron gave a wry grin at that. "Will I be there? I don't know. I'm familiar with Gabriel, and a few others from the trip, but I just met Sir Rayl yesterday. I'd guess it'd be whoever was in the room at the time."
Jade, despite first impressions, had seemed to catch Aaron's attention. The pair seemed to value enjoy many of the same hobbies, if nothing else. He was also a fellow mage. It's starting to feel like I'm back at mage training again, with all the magic users around.
"Should I come?"

Looking up into Aaron's eyes, Jade pondered about the question, and finally, he answered, "Well, if you wouldn't mind coming, it'd be better. Also, you know the rest of the better than me so you could help with the explanations as well..."
After saying that, Jade looked down a bit, as if embarassed to have said what he had really felt inside. However, not long after he looked back up at Aaron with a smile on his face again.

OoC: Just a reminder. The Ranch house, where Rayl and Gwen, are is a separate building from the manor, where everyone else waking up is.
BiC:
"Alright then." Aaron replied, slipping the belongings he'd taken out the night before(a work of fiction, a couple of tomes, and a few other things) into his messenger sack with the rest of his supplies, and slinging it over his shoulder. "We ought to head down and catch some breakfast, while it's hot. Then we'll sort out all this talking that's going on."
Aaron swung out into the hall, retracing the steps of the night before, and making his way down to the kitchens. The smells of a large meal mixed together before he got there, and it was then that he remembered the large troupe of soldiers that had arrived with Rayl the day before. It seemed like they would not be the only ones to share this meal.
After a moment of searching, the mage flagged down one of the kitchen hands. "Morning. What's for the morning meal today?"
"Good morning Sirs. We're preparing bacon, eggs, and toast for this morning.... I believe there was a space over in that direction with a few spaces open still." The waiter/cook/supervisor, it was unclear which, said to Aaron and Jade as he gestured towards a slightly out of the way table. "Another batch is about to be finished up. I'll have some sent over as soon as it's ready."
"Thankyou." Aaron said as the man continued on with his work, and then turned to Jade. "I hadn't thought about all the room and preparation needed to make this estate work."

OoC: For the book thingy, here is the Chapter outline. (Of course, the book doesn't exist and its just me crapping)
Chapter 1: Introduction Chapter 2: Recruitment Chapter 3: Soldier Health Chapter 4: Soldier Training Chapter 5: Strategy Planning Chapter 6: General Selection Chapter 7: Troop Morale Chapter 8: Casualties Chapter 9: Warnings and Advice
BiC: "Well, according to <A Guide to Army Management> Chapter 3 on Soldier Health, it is important to keep your army well fed with healthy food. This in turn increases their morale, which according to Chapter 7, Troop Morale, helps to improve their performance as well as ascertain their loyalties. So... I guess it really is hard work to manage an army." Jade said, before he realised that he had said it. Looking slightly embarassed at his long "mini-lecture" Jade sat down on the chair silently, while looking at Aaron expectantly.

Post by Gabriel on Dec 1, 2010 16:06:32 GMT -6
Gabriel had woken up early that day. That night of sleep was just what he needed. After he finished a conversation with one of Rayl's Etrurian soldiers he happened to meet at the stables, he made his way back to the dinning room, attracted by the smell of food.
He met Rayl on his way inside, asking the Paladin to come have some breakfast with him and discuss their plan of action in Bern. He seemed to have come a long way since he was first introduced as a member of Pherae's army, but Rayl was still the far more experienced one. Plus, he had been in Bern at least once already.
Not even checking to see if the blue knight was following him, Gabriel made his way inside, asked for a plate of food and got a response similar to the one Aaron got earlier. Looking around he spotted the green-haired mage sitting by a rather small guy with blond hair.
"Good morning, Aaron" he said, getting closer to the table and sitting on one of the chairs. "And this would be...?" he said, motioning his head towards the blond one. He felt a familiar something around the guy. He wasn't jumping into conclusions, but chances were he was a magic user too.

Jade, still brooding over his initial outburst got slightly shocked at the greetings coming from the mage that he had followed into the manor. Jade stood up quickly, then sat back down again, looking sheepish. He then replied, "I am... Jade... I need a little bit of help with something... You're Gabriel... Right..?" Jade felt slightly awkward this way. he was hoping for leads, yet afraid that he would not get a lead and instead get a dead end. Therefore, he hesitated slightly in his reply.

Jade's lecture on the managing of an army didn't go unnoticed by Aaron. "Well, that explains everything then."
There was was a slight tone of sarcasm tinging Aaron's voice. Just enough to make you wonder whether he was serious, or teasing. His slight grin betrayed him to the latter, as he took a seat.
Aaron was about to answer Gabriel, and introduce Jade, when the mage pupil spoke up for himself. "Jade is also a refugee from Etruria, and he's searching for his parents. The Reglays" The green-haired mage scanned Gabriel, looking for a sign of recognition. He didn't know how much Gabriel would know about the politics in Etruria, but chances are, he'd be more aware than Aaron was.

"Yes, I am Gabriel. Nice to meet you; Jade" Gabriel managed to say before Aaron talked.
"An Etrurian...?"
This...is the son of the Reglays? I thought they were all missing...no matter. As long as the kid doesn't know where his parents are they are of no significance.
"The Reglays...I was barely 10 when they simply vanished from Etruria, not long after Kraft took over. Still, stories about the disappearances went around, and probably persist to this day. All I know is that Jade's father was the General of the Mage Court of Etruria's previous reign. Reglay is one of the few surnames with rumors still going around in Etruria, along with those of high position, mainly due to their power. Kraft probably wants to find them and..."
He stopped there. Even if he had a will of steel and a cool head he was not sure the young mage did as well.
"I can't issue a search for them, sadly. But I promise that we'll try and get as much information as possible. Finding them would be as great for our cause as it would be for you."

Mernatel had woken up before dawn. He was used to it and left his armor in his room as he went for a jog. He didn't have the large clumps of metal they had used for strength training back in Bern.
When he had finished jogging and completed his stretches he walked back to his room and slowly put on his armor. But he left his helmet in the space he had. He left it with his lance and the multiple packs he had, had to carry. Then he made his way into the kitchen.
He saw the three mages talking around one table. On his way over to them he grabbed two plates of food. He thought it was probably rude not to say anything but there wasn't much he could add to their conversation. Which was probably about shooting lightning and fire. So he took a seat next to them and begun eating off both plates. He needed protein.
