OoC: This is at where the commercial city of Sacae is. At this moment, Ignis is looking for several companions to help him on a journey into Lycia to find Rayl.
BiC: Ignis walked into the tavern. He looked around, ignoring the weird stares he was getting from the people around. This was a shady tavern, and normally the people who would visit such a place seemed much more... stronger, rougher than him.
Ignis needed someone to help him. Someone who was preferably skilled enough in combat to help him with his task. To do so, he had to come to this tavern. It wasn't famous at all, even though many people knew about the tavern. It was full of men-for-hire who would normally do any task for the right amount.
However, Ignis was not that rich, so he had to persuade someone to join and help him complete his task before he paid them. Hopefully that person would die during the course of completing the task.
Ignis walked over to an unoccupied table and ordered a drink for himself before looking around and observing the multitude of people drinking, talking, looking tough in the tavern, trying to choose someone who would be gullible enough to believe him.

Theme Music: www.feplanet.net/music/2 Scars of the Scouring Alexander too was in this particular tavern, alert, trying to get some info from mystical men. Someone who was like him, searching for a great artifact. He would help that person, and kill him. Claim the artifact, research its power. And then, wield it. He was after all, a manakete, no low human could stand up to his brute strength. His mind flashed for a moment, as he thought about the incredible black gem.. the gem which would fulfill his destiny as the strongest being in the universe. He would wield that power to strike down those who would oppose him, those who would dare kill a dragon.... he would make sure humans paid. He found a peculiar young boy sitting at a table alone, amidst the many tables with strong, hefty, intimidating looking men. " Stupid boy," Alexander thought, " you think you are as strong and courageous as these men? I bet you are just another kid trying to imitate these men. Hehe, you must be pathetic." He decided he would sit at the table where the boy was sitting. It did not matter to him whether it was discourtesy or not, his point was clear- humans deserved no respect. At least the ones who lived outside Nabata. Alexander just grabbed the cjair harshly and sat all of a sudden. He rested his hands on the table, and there was this fierce eye contact between the two men.

OoC: Hope its okay that I elaborated the transfer of emotions and thoughts between the two during the staring competition?
BiC: Ignis was drinking his beer when a strange looking man with maroonish hair just got over and sat down on his chair. Ignis stared at the man demandingly, to which he stared back, and soon, a staring contest, a battle of stares started between the two men.
If anyone was standing beside these two men, they might probably feel an intense heat creeping up their backs as the emotions and feelings of the two leaped back and forth between their eyes. Any hatred and anger felt by one was mirrored by the other's.
However, with the atmosphere of the tavern around them, no one around felt a thing. There was an icy feeling inside the tavern that kept the effects of such battles to the two who were involved in the battle. The transfer was so intense that when the two would stop staring and start conversations later, that the battle would be etched in their minds forever.
And as the battle continued, the tavern was going about its normal business, completely unaware of such an intense battle building somewhere in the room.

In the very same tavern the staring contest was going on, a man with blue hair and a lance leaning up against his side was sleeping in a corner. The only reason anyone hadn't stolen the weapon at this point was the little reputation the man had. The man did not snore, instead, he slept quietly over in his little corner. The bar might be loud and rather unfriendly, but Dante didn't care. It was a moment to rest. So rest he did.
((Rather short, but it serves the purpose of having Dante in the same place as Ignis and Alexander.))

The boy seemed rather calm....innocent. Yet, there was determination in his eyes... and he was probably hiding a cunning attitude within. Alexander did not here a thing, he was focused on only staring at the boy. This battle was intense.... so much that it annoyed Alexander. He just wanted to tear through this arrogant boy's flesh. Yet... he knew he needed to have self control. It was a must if he did not want the authorities behind his back.... and besides, he needed to have self control, in vast amounts, if he ever wanted to master a power like the Black Gem.
Soon the waiter came back with their drinks. "Here are the drinks for both of you." the waiter said. He raised an eyebrow , " Is something wrong? I assume this is a silly staring contest?" he asked, trying to mock both of them.
This angered Alexander.... a mere human trying to mock him, a great dragon? He wished he could just eat this waiter for his insolence, but thinking about his self control once again, he cooled down and quitely replied," Why, yes. I believe this contest is rather fun."
"Well... you two continue to do so...ok?" the waiter said, quiet shocked by the intimidating words of Alexander. And he left, quiet scared.
"Heh, these guys do not know anything about staring, do they? You look quiet different from the rest.... professional I might add." he told the Grey haired boy. While it was true that he hated humans disrespecting dragonkin, he had to appreciate a talent when he saw one. This kid was no ordinary kid..... probably he could help Alex in his quest?

As the staring continued, a waiter walked over with more drinks for the man who had come to sit opposite him.
"Here are the drinks for both of you", the waiter said, as he laid the cup for the other man down and refilled Ignis's mug.
When the waiter saw (and felt) the intense transfer of emotions between the two men, he nervously mocked the two of them, saying, "Is something wrong? I assume this is a silly staring contest?"
Ignis merely ignored the waiter and stared even harder at the man who had dared to start a staring contest with him. Even as he ignored the waiter, the other man had replied, stating, in an intimidating tone, "Why, yes. I believe this contest is rather fun."
That had scared the waiter off, who left after saying, "Well... you two continue to do so... ok?"
While this was happening, Ignis was subconsciously observing and sizing up the man opposite him. Also, from the series of emotions, he could feel that this man was on the same path of revenge and anger as he was. Even though they hadn't spoken, they were now probably as close to each other as good friends. However, there was still a matter of trust, as one out for revenge could be very ruthless and backstab anyone quickly for their goal.
"Heh, these guys do not know anything about staring, do they? You look quiet different from the rest.... professional I might add."
Towards this statement, Ignis replied, taking care to ensure that he would not speak too out of place and offend this guy. "So do you... You seek the same path as me... do you not?"

Theme Music: www.feplanet.net/music/2 Scars of the Scouring I think that'll be the theme for the whole thread, unless stated otherwise. Those words came as a sudden shock for Alexander. This guy was not a normal human.... but it was interesting. Alexander too felt revenge in the boy's heart. If this boy could help him in is quest.....and he was one of those few who Alexander thought would understand him....it was worth a chance. Alexander knew...if the boy tried to betray him, he would kill him. "Why, yes. I think we both understand each other well then, do we not?" Alexander said, giving a rather twisted smile. "You.....I can see it. The path for revenge means power. And you want to obtain it. Well, so do I." he whispered, with an evil, spine-chilling tone.

After he had spoken, Ignis could see a bit of recognition register on the man's face. His reply had also proved Ignis's thoughts. This man... he was... or is... on the same path of revenge as Ignis. Apparently, he was also looking for something strong. Ignis could see what would happen if this man joined him. However, this man also seemed strong, what would happen if the time came and he betrayed Ignis himself?
Choosing his words as carefully as the previous time, Ignis posed a request towards the man, "So... what are you... suggesting..? That we work together..? And what if you decide to attack me?"

A feirce roar was heard from outside the tavern, causing Dante to open his eyes. He sighed, grabbed his lance, and walked outside to attempt to calm down his wyvern before it ate someone. Again. And if his wyyvern did that, he'd have to come up with explanations... Bah. As the Wyvern Rider was walking towards the door, he passed by two people. They seemed interesting, and, since Dante had just had a nap, he decided he'd converse with the two once he came back inside. And then go to sleep. Yes, that would be nice... Dante let out a yawn as he stepped out to find his wyvern.

"Well, let's put it this way. Yes, I suggest we both work together. But-"he paused, giving a cold stare, and continued, " If you ever get in my path, if you ever try to oppose me. I warn you- I will kill you. Mark my words. An eye for an eye, if you betray me, I do so too. I guess we have mutual feelings then?" he said. He needed to be intimidating, he was not going to be betrayed by some human. Although, if it did come to that... well, he guessed he'd take his dragon form and teach this man a lesson. His last lesson in life, really.
"Well then, if you do agree with me, you would want to tell me a bit about yourself. Who do you want to take revenge on, or what you may want to do next? Maybe I can assist you...." he said. Sure, he would help the boy, but in no way was he going to try and help him throughout. He was going to use this boy up to get his power, he could call him an ally, but definetly not a friend.

Even though the man opposite him had decided to assist Ignis and ask him what Ignis's goal was, Ignis was still suspicious of the man. Experience had told him not to trust anyone so easily and it was this experience that persuaded Ignis to not reveal too much about himself, and instead try and push the topic and question back to the man.
"Heheh. I will tell you mine... But you must tell me what you are looking for first. And tell me... Why should I trust that you will help me?" Ignis asked with an innocent-sounding voice to mask the true intent of his question and statement, that was, to make the man reveal his intentions.

The boy asked a hard question to answer. Of course Alexander could not reveal his plans. This guy was some stranger, not someone friend of his from Nabata! Alexander had to make up a fake tale... one that would interest the boy. Although Alexander did not like betrayal, he would have to do it in the end, if there was no chioce. Should the boy try to know him deeply, should he try to acquire the same power Alexander was searching for, should he steal it away.... no. It would be too risky to tell this boy anything.
"Well... I have been searching for artifacts that could grant me more power. You do understand that revenge can be only taken when one has great power, right? So a few weeks ago I overheard this strange old man. He was just mumbling about a book of scrying found in the mountains near Ostia. Well, I first thought of it as nothing but some fairytale, but then I started thinking about it more... the possibility of looking into the future was nice..." he said, in a deep, tone of wonder.
He then added,"Oh, and as to why I'm helping you, the reason is obvious. We both are on the path of revenge, simple as that. I help you and you help me, and we're square. I do not care for stuff like money, I only wish for more power, more strength. Strength to take revenge on those who have opposed me and made my life miserable." he said, clenching his fist and banging the table, so hard that everyone near the two looked at them weirdly.
"So, has my answer been reasonable to you?" he asked with a smile. He could make out that the boy was wary.

Ignis could tell by looking at the man's expression that he was definitely not telling the truth about his story. He knew the telltale signs of someone telling him lies. Their face expressions would be slightly stiffer, they would not look as sure, and their eyes would glance more to their left.
Ignis had taken in all these signs, but he knew that this guy was too dangerous and was not to be taken lightly. If he was to try to hide his true goal behind a lie or even a secondary goal, then he definitely would have planned what to do if Ignis pried too far into his past.
Ignis decided to play along with the man and try to avoid telling him anything about himself. "Well, I have heard of the Book of Scrying as well. I was thinking... Of getting the book as well, to help me with my... I guess you already know, heheh..."
He made sure to choose his tone carefully so as not to make the man wary of him.
"Since we're both finding the same object, why don't we try teaming up? It would make the job easier... Right?"

He could notice the boy staring at him sharply. Perhaps he knew he was lying? No matter, the boy did not bother asking him further details. "A clever choice lad, a clever choice." he thought to himself.
"Well boy, that was what I was suggesting too. That our goals are same and that we should team up. I suppose tht would be our next destination then? Well...we better get supplies boy. I do not have much gold but... I guess if we pit our money together, we should have enough for the trip I suppose? Also, I do not know if you like hiring people. I'm not exactly keen on hiring people, but if ou think this might be a bit more dangerous for us two...you may need to think about that. Or, more for your safety, since I'm pretty sure I'll be fine." he said. it was rather intimidating, and also it kind of did disclose Alex's origin a little... but no matter. The boy probably did not know about dragons anyways. If the boy died along the way, that would be good for Alex. Just another powerful relic for him, and a step closer to his destiny.

OoC: Ilyadia/Dante, you can join in whenever you're ready from now on. Just post that you saw our request on the tavern board and decided to come over and look see.
BiC: As the man ranted on about how he did not need any more help, Ignis wondered about who the guy was. He looked slightly old, so if he was confident about himself, then he may probably be a veteran in battle. If so, then Ignis might probably need a mercenary. Not to guard against attackers, as Ignis could look after himself well, but to guard against a possible backstabbing from the man. He did not seem to trust Ignis and neither did Ignis trust him.
"Yes... I should think to hire someone... If only for some extra security. Also, I don't believe I've heard your name?"
Waving his hand in the air to beckon the bartender, Ignis scrawled a request on a piece of paper and asked for it to be placed on the tavern board.
Written on the paper was:
"Experienced Mercenary Wanted! Have to have a good reputation! 200 GP will be given on accepting the request, rest of pay will be given on completion of task. All meals paid and supplied for. Weapons not supplied. Pay: 1000 GP + extra pay for extra tasks Task: To seek several hidden artefacts as well as an assassination. Bonus: For job well done and for finding extra artefacts/completion of extra tasks"
This should be enough. Ignis had to make the request attractive enough to attract good mercenaries, yet do not require much initial payment. This would work in Ignis's favour later on when he would decide to kill the mercenary to avoid paying the rest of the sum of money. With the Bonus added in, Ignis could delay payment and keep the mercenary for a longer time, until he had outlived his usefulness. This way, for a low initial cost, he could have a good mercenary for a lengthened period of time.
