"You can call me....Alex, boy. And what is yours?" he asked, a little more calm now.
Whatever the case, Alex would have to be weary on this trip. He would not want this guy trying to murder him like how his friend had been murdered. You never knew how people would backstab you. In battle, ok, there was less chance of dying, since his dragonstone powers were in effect, but it was at times like sleeping, when not using the dragonstone, that would be risky.
"Well then, I see you are done with your hiring request? Well, let's be off, boy. I think we should stop at Pherae though... just for some rest. We can continue to Ostia thereafter." he said.

Dante entered the tavern once more, holding his lance with his right hand. He flipped it once out of boredom before noticing a new sign over in the back. Maybe it was from someone out of town, in which case it shoudny be much issue securing the job unless they had heard of him before. The last job he had had was from a man who, in the end, had attempted to cheat him. At least his death had been quick... ((Yeah, a little add-on to his story. Sorry if this is against any rules.))
Dante, now smiling from this thought, walked towards the board to read the sign. Seemed slightly vague... Suspicious, but with promise of good pay in the long run. So... Risk of being cheated or walking away from a potentially good job? Ah, the life of a mercenary... Dante grabbed the piece of paper, ripped it off of the board, and turned to face the rest of the tavern.
"Well, who is it that requires the services of a mercenary?" he shouted, holding his lance in a battle-ready position. Really, it was more for show at that point, although maybe he could scare a few more people who weren't already a little frightened of the Wyvern Rider. Of course, if they still weren't afraid, he could just stab them... Nah.

OoC: Silvine, edit your post, we're not really leaving yet. We wait till we're acquainted with Dante first.
BiC: Ignis watched as a mercenary holding a lance entered the tavern and grabbed the request he had put up. Thinking quickly, Ignis thought of a way that he could save on even the initial 200G in getting the mercenary.
He spoke slightly louder than before, signaling to the mercenary with the request, "Its me! Come over here!"
Then looking towards the man, who had introduced himself as Alex, he answered with, "You can all me Ignis..."
Ignis then decided not to give this man any more information than necessary for the quest. Also, by suggesting to stop in Pherae, Ignis could check on the Paladin Rayl's house and see where he would be at. However, Ignis was probably not strong enough yet to kill the Paladin, so he would require MUCH MORE power first. If this man could help him get power, he wouldn't mind tagging along with him.

OoC: Sorry, Dante, but the thread has been hogged up by you for waaaaaaaaay too long...
BiC: As Ignis watched that mercenary hold his hire request, another mercenary looked up and walked over to get a look at the hire request too. He saw the pay offer and his eyes lit up immediately before walking over to where Ignis and the other man was sitting.
OoC: This will be from the point of view of that NPC.
BiC:The man's name was Lucas. He was a greedy mercenary who was willing to do anything for money. However, he was also a little of a greenhorn in the mercenary business and forgot to check the request for any bit of credibility first.
As Lucas saw the two men who had put up the request, he felt a chilling feeling cross his back. However, he ignored it, eager to earn the large sum of money promised for the work. He sat down at the table, and introduced himself, "I-I'm Lucas... You can... umm... call me Luke...". He had hesitated as he looked at each of the men and sensed a strange hostility in the air between them.
-----
Ignis glanced at the mercenary and gave him a good glance over. He seemed to be greedy, as seen when his eyes lit up earlier, and he seemed slightly inexperienced, accepting the request after a mere quick glance. But, he looked like he had some experience in battle. And that was what Ignis wanted in a mercenary. Besides, with his greenness, it would be much easier to betray him later on.
Anyway, Ignis decided to play on the mercenary's greed and try to save his money for later on.
"I have a proposal for you, Luke... Instead of paying you 200G now and 800G later, why don't we postpone the initial payment and I pay you a total of 1500G on completion?"

Alexander noticed as another mercenary, named Lucas, came up and offered his blade. Well, Alexander did not care about the man anyways, that was Ignis' problem. If the man tried to kill Ignis and run with the rewards, well, poor boy, poor man. Both would end up dead. Hopefully Ignis would get rid of the man before he started trying to treat both of them as family.
He watched as the man agreed to Ignis' proposal. A group of three still helped for this mission. Alexander would have to make certain precautions while travelling though. He would have to sleep far away from the other two, because if they found out his secret, things would not be pretty. He'd also need to keep an eye on Ignis- the boy did not seem trustworthy.
"Heh, you both have a little chit chat if you want. I'll be outside the gates, meet me in fifteen minutes." Alexander said to Ignis and Luke.

Hmm?
Ignis sensed some hesitation on the older man's part. He had also stood up and left, proclaiming to meet Ignis and Lucas at the gates in 15 minutes.
In this time, Ignis turned to Lucas, "Good that you accepted the offer, cause you see, I'm slightly cash-strapped this moment. After we find the artifact, though, is a different matter." Ignis smiled innocently, the crow's feet appearing below his eyes. No one would be able to tell that Ignis was only smiling superficially. In all his time alone, Ignis had learned something, and that was to never show anyone your true emotions.
Lucas, greedy as he was and who had accepted Ignis's offer, seemed to take the smile as nothing more than a smile to show friendship or acceptance. "Alright, I understand... I'm also cashstrapped at the moment."
---
Lucas looked the boy up and down again. How could this boy so easily lose the hardness in his eyes, the toughness that had made him feel chilled and creepy earlier. He made up his mind to try not to think about it, which was also why he had answered that way earlier. After all, the pay was good, more so double of what he would normally get for a job half as strenuous or hard.
---
"Alright, now that that's settled, lets go. We need to stock up on supplies for the journey, and we only have 15 minutes, and we just spent 5 of those minutes."
Ignis stood up and left, spending 5 minutes buying supplies from the merchants in the street, and arrived at the gates 5 minutes earlier, looking around the gates trying to see if there would be anything that would threaten him. It always paid to be extra cautious outside.

Alexander walked around, thinking about his mission. Kill dragon hunters, gather relics, acquire more power. And now he had a new companion, Ignis, by his side. Sometimes a path to power would need sacrifice. And... Alexander knew... that sometimes a man could meet his destiny on a path he takes to avoid it. Alexnder knew not his destiny... if he was getting power to avoid the killing of dragons... would this be the cause for the end of the dragons? No matter... courage was needed.
He arrived at the gate just in time to see Ignis standing there with the other mercenary.
"Shall we go then? Our journey will involve lots of danger, I presume. I hope you're ready." he turned to the mercenary with an intimidating look.

Ignis watched the surroundings. He watched as Lucas fidgeted excitedly in that five minutes, then watched the patterns and flows of the civilians and soldiers in and out of Bulgar. The Prophet's soldiers. Of course Ignis knew about them, they were hot on all of the Sacaens' tongues. Most of all the recent news had them included, one way or another. The Prophet was just another example that Ignis had to follow. Another example of someone who grew strong from manipulation and belief.
Ignis smiled as the man came, exactly on time. "Yes, we may leave...", Ignis said just as he walked away, without waiting for either Lucas or the man.

Alexander watched as Ignis walked away. Lucas ran behind him shakily. It looked like the naive mercenary was anxious. Whatever happened to that man was Ignis' burden, and that made Alex happy. Happy that if the man died, they would get rid of a pesky fool, and if he lived on, he'd bug Ignis to pay him and hopefully he'd find Alex scary and not talk to him.
He walked slowly behind the two men, thinking about how to hide his identity. He'd probably have to sleep in the nearby woods or something, he did not want Ignis to get hold of the dragonstone. That would be bad....real bad. If they reached a town with an inn....well, he'd have to think about it. Alexander needed a quiet, lonely place. Some place where no one would dare come near him and try to steal his stone... because if it did get stolen... that would be his end.

Ignis watched as the older man walked quite a distance behind them, seemingly plotting something. The man definitely did not trust Ignis, and Ignis definitely did not trust him.
This was a web of distrust, a web of lies and appearances kept up between the two. To other people, they may look like normal travelling companions, but there actually was a weak balance of influence and respect between them. If even one of them were to accidentally break the balance, there would be a fight or betrayal between them.
Nonetheless, Ignis couldn't let anything affect him or his goal. It had to be completed no matter what...
OoC: The thread will move to Pherae now, in a topic entitled "Rest stop in Pherae". Other groups may choose to join and RP now, but Alex and Ignis will be at that other topic.
