"Heh, here you go, Grayson, Jade. Oh, and fine Aaron, do what you will." he said. He then followed the red haired axe wielder as he went over to ask about....Valor. Sabin's eyes widened. Valor? That place was haunted! Surely he knew that? "I've heard of Valor, Sir Wyatt. It is a very dangerous place. Those who go there never return. We can only dream of what lies there. That place is definetly off-limits.... unless you want to really die and want it to happen in a thrilling fashion." he said. Sabin then saw Jade popping up and saying, "Hey Binnie, I've heard about Valor too, but only a little. I've heard there are lots of monsters there. Imagine if there were undead."That tone was a bit....naughty. At least Sabin thought so. OoC: Using Jade's permission. Hopefully its not too out of character. Eventually, his chat with Wyatt had come to an end. The young man seemed to have work to do and walked away, being scolded shortly after he had ended his conversation with Gabriel. There was now one more person he definitely had to talk to while he could. Gabriel walked towards the bow of the ship once more, this time to find Saffra and Aaron talking.
He was sure the dragon lady had recognized him, but last time he approached she was being bombarded with questions all over. Knowing her, chances are that at most, she would be mildly annoyed by them. Gabriel waved, trying to get their attention, but it seemed like both were focused on something Saffra had on her hands right now. A notebook. Gabriel lowered his arm and simply kept walking until he was a few feet from them and bowed in front of Saffra.
"Glad to see you again, Lady Saffra" he said, getting up. "I hope you don't mind if I join you for a bit. Unless I'm interrupting, that is. We can talk later if that's the case" he hastily added. He doubted that would be the case, but Gabriel couldn't remember ever seeing Saffra with such a stern face.

Guinevere finally woke from her little nap and found herself feeling much better. But there was still a problem. She had thrown up everything in her stomache and was now starving. Slowly making her way over to the boxes she knew contained some apples she had seen earlier, she sat down next to them and starts to slowly eat. It felt so good, finally being able to eat without fear of throwing it right back up. She slowly looked aroun deck as she ate, choosing to remain quiet for the time being. It seemed like there were several conversations going on, but it was probably best to stay out of them for now.
Her thoughts again drifted to Rayl. They weren't so much worrying now as much as they were wanting to see him again. And that made her wonder when this boat ride out be over. She had resolved next time she was going by land, be it with Rayl, someone else, or even by herself. There was no way she was riding on another one of these stomache-tossing pieces of wood again. She'd take land over the sea any day.

Wyatt looked at the sailor who now addressed him, not one he recognized. "You guys know of it? A long time ago I met someone, a magic user, who talked about it like it would be one of the most exciting places to visit. I'd just never heard of it before. Does anyone even know what's actually on that island?"
He wondered aloud. The idea of exploring the unknown, well. What kid doesn't dream about a life of adventure seeing things nobody ever has before?

"Uh...Wyatt? I believe the rumors would say this would happen to people who went there." Sabin said, and he started drawing something on a piece of paper. He then showed it to Wyatt. "See...this. That would happen." he said coldly. Sabin's drawing was immature and it looked silly. "The undead would rip apart your skull. But you do have a point. It would be a fun adventure I guess." he added. "Oh by the way, my name is Sabin, I travel with that small group of guys who you just met." he introduced himself. OoC: www.feplanet.net/music/2Theme Song: Going My Way. OoC: Saffra, we can move this to a support, or even just leave it at that, but the thread needs to move soon.
Aaron regarded Gabriel. He couldn't remember if he'd shared what he'd found, what he'd seen, with the other mage. Somehow, speaking about it openly didn't seem right to the green-haired mage.
"I was just asking Saffra about a curiosity I'd seen someplace before joining up with you." Aaron realized what he was doing then: Keeping secrets, just like your typical sage. That wasn't the sort of person Aaron's Grandfather wanted to have trained, but what if this information could prove harmful down the road? "I'm searching for answers on, well, something about it seems important to me."
Aaron rubbed his chin in thought for a moment, inspecting the younger, bronze-haired man. "Gabriel, did you ever see St Elimine's Tomb?" It was a longshot. Such a thing had probably been kept under the firm control of the Eliminean Clergy for a long time, but perhaps there were some old legends about the script on St. Elimine's tomb.

Gabriel frowned. "Sorry to burst your hopes, but no. Last I heard it was open to the public was roughly 6 years ago. Shortly after Kraft came to power he barred the entrance to anyone. And I was ten back then. Even if I did go in at some point before that, I probably wouldn't remember much to be of help."
It wasn't really that hard to see. The man had probably wanted to avoid uprisings, and closing the entrance to the tomb of the one that had 'chosen' him as the savior of Elibe was probably the easiest way to do it.
"Anyway, why would you ask that? What did you expect me to find there?" he asked back, curious as to what was going through Aaron's head.

Grayson munched on the apple thrown to him by Sabin as conversations of ancient mysteries and deadly islands were prattled on. He took it all in with his usual child-like wonder. These were the kinds of things he wanted to find on his travels. Ancient tombs, cursed islands, powerful artifacts, and sweeping battles! He wanted to know more about what was being said, but couldn't get a word in as the five seemed to be heavily engaged in their conversation. Instead, Grayson continued to listen as he ate the apple.

A mental struggle was going on in Aaron's head. Something in him didn't want to release this information. In the mage's philosophy, information was power, and though he liked Gabriel, he loathed the idea of giving it up. Grah... Stop fighting, and just tell him about it. He's got as much a right to know as you do. Aaron told himself.
He took a deep breath, and decided to tell Gabriel. It was as if something in Aaron yielded once the decision was made, and he seemed to lose the tension that had been building up in him. Besides, if it had something to do with the wolves, as he suspected, then Gabriel really ought to know. "Before I joined up with you, outside Laus, I was in Roland's tomb, near Ostia. I found several old carvings, which led me to find an account of an inscription on St. Elimine's tomb."
"The beating of wings. Binds the king When wings cease flight. Look towards the light. For light divine Will brightly shine. When light is faint. By darkness taint. In the hearts of men. The king will rise again."
Aaron spoke the words from memory, his voice changing, quiet, but firm, as though at a recital. He'd been unable to locate anything on it's meaning though.
Aaron sighed after completing the phrases. "Does it mean anything to you? I want you to know, I consider this privileged information. Something about all this feels... important."

Sabin turned to listen to the conversation between Aaron and Gabriel. Aaron started reciting a little inscription that he read at Roland's tomb. Apparently, this was before he was acquainted with Gabriel.
After listening the whole inscription, Sabin pondered over it for a while. "Hrm... 'The beating of wings, Binds the king' this could signify something. It actually sounds like Laus' marquess, or probably all the marquesses in Lycia, would be attacked by an army mainly consisting of flying units. I'm only considering this, since you found this inscription in Laus." Sabin tried to interrupt. True, it was rude, but Sabin felt he had missed a lot of conversation already.
"The next four lines sound like when the invasion stops, a star of hope would come in to save the weak. This star would be brave and just, and would have the power to stand up against the dark forces." Sabin continued.
" 'When light is faint. By darkness taint.'
Basically, the one who has written this, knows that this saviour will perish and darkness will consume the land once again." Sabin said.
"The last two lines sound very odd though. Either the saviour is severely defeated and recovers to become one great king and leader who drives away the darkness... or it could be that someone tries to avenge for the fallen. But.. if this inscription was actually taken in a twisted manner then... someone must be planning a conspiracy for a long time now. Is there something I do not know?" Sabin finished.
"So then, if some of my guesses are right, Lycia may be in grave danger. I'm sorry if I interrupted, I just wanted to throw in my opinion of that inscription you narrated, Sir Aaron." Sabin said.
OOC: Sorry if I butted in, Aaron, Gabriel, but I was in a dire need to post something with Sabin.

Saffra paused an smiled to Gabriel. Of course she remembered the poor boy. She had wondered if he was okay, but the way his nose looked, she could guess otherwise. Still, most of her attention was upon the notes infront of her. These were strange, and really, she was mostly curious about how he came by them. Just by looking, they were old, not as old as her, mind, but something close.
While she had been drifting off, she thought upon what was reminded of her, by the drawing, and she thought she knew what it meant.
"Roland, huh?"
Saffra seemed a little depressed on hearing that. She had no love for the humans that were considered 'Heroes.' That was all in the past, really. They had left their mark though, though most wouldn't know it. Only she and her people would feel it.
After her brief distraction, she thought back to what was sparked in her memory. She was a child then, just a hatchling. Then, it was normal for dragons to be seen in large numbers in one place. They essentially ruled the world at that point, before the Scouring.
"Come, children, come round."
She, as well as many others came around their much larger elder, and sat, some lay, before her on the elevated rocks before him. Oh glorious memories. She wanted to cry, it was a nice thing to have remembered...she had forgotten much, afterall, especially the early years.
"It is time for a lesson, and for you to know our place in the world."
The dragon raised his head, and looked to the starry sky, which was so close at this height and elevation.
"We dragons are keepers of this world, but it is also our duty to keep it safe. Our wings shield it from those who would see it burn. Without us, it would fall."
As Saffra had been recalling the vents, she had also spoken aloud. She was staring only at the picture. She didn't know if that's what this picture meant...
Looking up at the other two, her face seemed conflicted between sadness, and slight happiness, but it was clear which was the more marked emotion. With a sigh, Saffra handed Aaron back his notes. She had hardly even really looked over the one with parables of some 'king.'
"Do not quote me, young mage, mages." Saffra added as she nodded to Gabriel. "I don't know if that's what the picture actually means...what I spoke was more a personal memory, before the scouring, before Roland and so called heroes.." Saffra shook her head, and wiped an eye. It was nice to remember happy times, but it also brought about the memory of their deaths. It was hard not to weep for the fallen, but Saffra tried.

Aaron listened to, and considered Sabin's thoughts on the matter. Some of the ideas seemed to carry merit, but there was too much guessing mixed in for Aaron to gather enough of anything to analyze. The mage had chosen to attribute the"taint", as the Doom Wolves, or whatever was causing them to happen. He'd chosen to consider the "wings" which bound the king, to dragon wings, simply because of the age of the prophecy, and because it was found on a Hero of the Scouring's, St Elimine's tomb. That wasn't enough to say for certain though. There was still so little concrete information that he couldn't be sure of anything.
"I don't know Sabin. What we've got could be taken any number of ways. It could even just be some old spell-slinger's ramblings before her death."
"We dragons are keepers of this world, but it is also our duty to keep it safe. Our wings shield it from those who would see it burn. Without us, it would fall."
As Saffra spoke of her memories, Aaron turned and listened, giving his full devotion to her as he recieved his notes back. Thoughts buzzed, attempting to match up the different sets of information into some form of believable, or just plain understandable events.
What is this 'it'? Was the elder merely referencing the world twice, or was he speaking of something else which they protect?
Everything seemed to hinge on what was being protected for now. At least that seemed to be the next thing to set his mind to. He did take note that it was a personal memory though, and not necessarily solid fact.
The mage took his notes back. Saffra seemed to have enjoyed remembering this, and he was glad to see her smile. Glad to see that one of the dragon kin, still could smile, after what had been done to their kind. He was amazed that he was taking all of this in so calmly, but perhaps being with others who had already spent time with her had helped to ease the shock.
Aaron had always been just a touch odder in some things than most everyone else. One way was how he regarded the Heroes of the Scouring. He accredited them great respect, but also considered the entire affair one giant mistake. He'd often considered the idea of the dragons being wiser, and more intelligent than any human had a right to be. They lived so long, and experienced so much... Perhaps the world had been better under the rule of dragons.
"I'm sorry, Lady Saffra." Aaron turned away for a moment, catching his bearings. His "all business" mode had switched off almost as fast as it had showed itself when he'd first approached her. "I'm sorry for what my people did to yours. So long ago for us, and yet not beyond memory for one of your kind. I don't know what caused the Scouring. I don't even know what has been lost. .., and I'll never truly know what was lost. Perhaps that is part of the great shame that I now feel for us humans. Something we can never take back."
Aaron turned back, returning the few steps he'd taken away from Saffra. "Consider this mage at the service of yourself, or any other peaceful minded Elder Kin. It's one man's attempt to make right the wrong we did." It would never undo the tragedy of the old war, but he felt it was the right thing to do.

OoC: *ahem* Screen stretching much, shouldn't that image be in a spoiler tag?
BiC: "Well, I don't really know much about Valor except what I've read. And what I've said before about the undeads were from books too. Not sure how true that all is though...", Jade answered, although most of the group's attention was already on something else.
Well, Jade could do a lot of things. What he wanted most was to get the book that the old gentleman had taken back from him and then to read it on. But that was as likely to happen as the boat capsizing with them on it. Umm... Did he really think that? No, the boat wouldn't capsize... Right?
Well, Jade stood around a bit more, deciding to wait until someone had noticed what he said, or even if they had just wanted to ignore him completely before he would decide what to do next.

Gabriel gave a half-smile shortly after Saffra did. Gabriel thought about it, and he couldn't remember having seen Saffra actually smile before. Maybe while they were in the ranch, when they first met her? It seemed like so long ago. Only a few months had passed since then, though.
His thoughts shot back to what Aaron had originally said, though. He had better keep that poem in mind, just in case.
"Old carvings...? An inscription on Elimine's tomb?" Gabriel spaced out a little bit. "You do realize those could have been written back when Roland and Elimine died, right? I believe I don't need to remind you, but they WERE human. At most, they would have lived until they were 80".
There was another sudden realization then. "Either way, wouldn't 'a thousand years into the future' be a little bit too much for a prophecy? What's to say whatever it was talking about hasn't already happened? What's to say that it isn't just senseless babble?"
Of course, it was all simple speculation, but at the moment it held just as much ground as any other theory. Still, something about that poem felt...odd. He couldn't just put his finger on it, but something kept him from simply shoving the thoughts away.

OOC: Okay, I'm gonna add a small timeskip in this, if its ok with you guys. Like, we're gonna have dinner now, enough of the long convo.
"Well, Sir Gabriel has a point. Maybe what has happened has happened. I would say you need not worry, Aaron, let's just focus on the mission at hand. Speaking of which... what do you two suppose we do when we reach Bern? I mean, going in disguise is one thing, but finding some purpose is another. Are we just there for...sightseeing?" Sabin had just finished when a weird, sea type of music started playing. The sailors were playing a small song using a harmonica and guitar and... foot thumping.
Sabin knew what this was. Most sailors and pirates knew that tune... it was a sign that it was dinner time. This was good, considering Sabin was STILL hungry, even after all that drinking and...apple eating. He just needed some meat.
" Ah, that's the signal. Its dinner time guys, you better get your stomachs filled. A man cannot do investigations and discussion on an empty stomach.. that just kills him." he said, smiling.
"Oh and Aaron... you might want to do something about that seasickness of yours. I know that if you eat up to the brim and just sit about lazily, it helps. Or just try to look at the beauty of the sea... mother nature has its blessings." he said and winked. Inside he had this naughty feeling that... he might just have made Aaron feel seasick again.
Well, too bad for the young mage. Sabin had to attend other business at the dining room....eating!
