Grayson almost didn't notice the dinner bell. Was it a bell? It was a signal of some sort. He was so engrossed in what was being said that was wasn't sure what the sound was, all he knew was that it was finally time to eat. Grayson looked down at his apple. Another thing he seemed to not notice was that it wasn't in his hand. He was in the middle of eating it as the dinner signal was sounded and apparently didn't take it out of his mouth when he looked in Sabin's direction. He spit out the apple into his hand, now just a browning core, and threw it overboard.
"Is it that late already? It's amazing how time flies." Grayson muttered to himself as he followed Sabin to the dining room.

Saffra looked at Aaron with confusion. Really, this was the last thing she expected to be a part of. Her yellow eyes narrowed for a bit, becoming a touch suspicious of what he might have been after, but the relaxed the way she held herself, and eased up in general. So, he was sorry for what his people did, and wanted to apologize. It was...commendable, but she could only take it so far. Raising a hand, Saffra shook her head at him.
"Well that is...commendable...I can accept only your apology. Those who have scorned us are long since dead...and I know many of the populace would not accept an apology, even now, had they given one."
Saffra's wings tucked back, and she brought a hand to her face, and pinched at the bridge of her nose, and rubbed.
"Either way, thank you..." This was a little new for her, nothing had been proposed this way towards her before. "I believe you should consider your offer more seriously. Not all of my kind are probably as kind. We come as varied as any human so far as personality and grudge. Pledging yourself to be a vassal is not our way either, not my way."
In a way, Saffra seemed a touch disappointed, and a touch hopeful. It was strange, but the boy's attitude was just that. Who could shoulder the burden of responsibility for an entire race like that? Considering mostly that he had not the authority to do so...
"In a couple of hundred years, perhaps less, humans will forget about dragons once again, if we continue being reclusive as we are. It's just how life works. If you wish to live in a service to Dragons, that is not my choice, but be very serious of this choice."

OoC: Bowing to the opinions of the RPers who were on when I asked, I'm closing the thread, meaning a new one will be starting in Bern. Feel free to post closing posts if you feel your character could benefit from it. I'm not that picky about that.
The dinner didn't really seem that important to Aaron, as his mind worked. Gone was the seasickness which had assailed him earlier. Gone was the hunger left over after it his sickness. Gone was all traces of distraction left over from before. His mind had old, great mysteries, and human-dragon relations to to be filled with.
Saffra was right, Aaron realized, though he'd not intended to swear an oath of service to any particular dragon. Nor would he do so for a human. He had missions of his own which were calling to him, and swearing to serve, even serving something as large as an entire species was too limiting. He had to be free enough to follow through on his inclinations.
"Saffra, let me make this promise then. Everywhere I go, in everything I do, I won't forget my hope of seeing humanity and dragons coexisting peacefully together, and I'll do what I can to bring it about. I'll remember what you started: a human city accepting a dragon into it's populace."
As the Mage spoke, even he realized that he couldn't continue functioning forever on nothing but curiosity, and will. He did need to eat something soon. He'd head that way eventually.
"I'm glad I've met you, Saffra. I'd... enjoy your company on the ship, should you decide to stay, as well as in Bern." She seemed interesting to his inquisitive mind, and also quite eye catching in both forms.... He smiled, despite the slight embarrassment he felt at thinking such things of a dragoness he'd only just learned existed a short span of time ago.
