Xanthus, being the most adept in the desert, lead the group onwards. His sister followed by a short margin, followed by Ajax, a young mercenary who was also coming on the rite, and Sheba, an archer. The temple was in sight... but there were a few unintended guests. "Bandits!" Xanthia said with a curse. "We'll have to fight them off before we can get into the temple!" she said. "Ok. Xanthus, you're up with me. I know you're more of the sneaky, sword-in-the-back type, but the girl's won't be able to take many hits from these guys." Ajax said, trying to show off his newly acquired knowledge as a tactician. Ajax and Xanthus had been friends since birth... but they were also great rivals.
"Alright, let's do this!" Xanthus yelled, running forward.

"Hey, Wyrnie. Look over there, a big fight!" The two dragons walked along the desert sand, resting their wings in case they needed to use them later. "I wonder if there's bandits? Or a re-vo-lu-tion? Or a war? Or an ap-o-cal-ypse?" She sounded out the big words to help her say them. Big words weren't very easy to say. She bounced gleefully, not really knowing what any of those words meant. "Should we get a closer look?"

Xanthus made the first move, running up to a bandit and pulling out his dagger. He feinted to the bandit's right and struck him between the ribs on his left. Xanthia appeared behind her brother, casting a quick spell to fell the first bandit. Meanwhile, Ajax was clashing swords with another mercenary, the two caught in a heated exchange. Sheba stood back, firing arrows at the oncoming bandits.
Not including the one Ajax is fighting, there are only four more... At least they aren't too strong. "Xanthia, cast a spell on that bandit!" he yelled, pointing to the nearest axeman. She did so, and caught his shirt on fire. While she had his attention, Xanthus crept up behind him and stabbed him once in the back. The bandit turned around and swung his axe, grazing Xanthus's leg. Xanthus yelped and slashed at the bandit's face, bringing him down.

OoC: I take it you mean Wyrne by Wyrnie? Also, Cess reminds me of Serra, in how she dragged Erk into a fight between Lyn's company and the bandits.
BiC: Great! She wants to rush in at the first sign of danger...
"I'd rather not... They may be dangerous... Maybe we could observe from a distance?", Wyrne answered Cess. "I'd also keep our wings before anyone there spots us too..."
Saying thus, Wyrne put his hands around the purple amethyst hung on his neck and concentrated, pouring the energy back into the stone. The stone looked like any ordinary amethyst, no matter which angle you would wish to look at it from, so no one would ever suspect that it was a dragonstone, much less suspect what powers it held within.
Wyrne and Cess had just left Arcadia almost a few days ago, already having travelled quite far from Arcadia itself on their wings. They had not expected to meet any humans before they had even left Nabata's soil though, so this was a surprise to them. Even more so because they had not kept their wings yet.

"Aw cmon, Wyrnie." She watched the humans battle rather than continue the argument. The Nabatans at least appeared to be winning. "Just watching them is so boring, I want to help."
She grabbed her dragonstone, topaz in color and mounted on her bracelet, as if she were going to jump right into the battle, but she waited to see how Wyrne would react. Wyrne did help her sneak out of Arcadia, so the least she could do was follow his orders.

Wyrne sighed... It would be dangerous for them to just waltz in into the battle right now. More so because humans were involved. He remembered his father's passing words about the humans... The humans were dangerous, he had said, and those words would influence much of Wyrne's decisions in the near future.
Well... Wyrne would have to interact with the humans soon for his research, so they might as well do so now...
"Well, just try to to reveal that we're not humans... It might be dangerous for us..."
Wyrne followed Cess, one hand near the purple gem that was on his neck, already getting ready to draw out just enough energy to cause an increase in strength and agility without any transformation. He hoped that Cess would have the mind not to transform completely, or even partially into her dragon form at this time.

"Awright! Let's go!" Cess followed Wyrne in suite, using her dragonstone to amplify rather than transform. She charged at the bandits, screaming. Totally caught off guard, she delivered a jumping kick to one of the bandits. "Take that!" she cried. The bandit she hit fell to the ground. He rose back up, thoroughly angry at the fact that a little girl had hit him in the face.

Xanthus and his sister had teamed up to defeat yet another bandit. Then he noticed a young girl, very un-Nabatan by the looks of her, charging into the fray with no weapon. Then, as she leaped at a bandit, striking with only her foot.
Xanthus ignored it, seeing that she had two retainers, and moved to the last bandit. It was rather close to the girl, and Ajax was already dueling with him. Sneaking up behind the bandit, busy handling Ajax's blows, he unsheathed his dagger and slashed the bandit's back twice, and finally burying the knife halfway up to the hilt into the bandit's back. The bandit roared in pain, and, his attention broken, lost his head to a swipe from Ajax. The two clasped hands, then turned his attention the the girl. She was still battling the bandit.
He ran at the bandit, holding his knife at the ready. "Here, let me help you with that!" he yelled to the girl.

"No need...", said Wyrne softly to the two men who had come to help Cess against the bandit she was fighting. Instead, Wyrne ran over quickly, striking the bandit hard at the back of his neck, where the spine started. Wyrne heard a sharp "clack" sound as the bandit fell over, instantly dead.

Xanthus stood in front of the newcomers, placing one hand on his hip. The other three Nabatans gathered around him. "Well, thank you for your help!" he said with a small bow. "It is unfortunate times we live in that bandits occupy even sacred temples such as this." he added. The newcomers looked like they knew what sort of clothes to wear in the desert, but seemed far to fair to live there full- time. Maybe they were travelers. But then again, what would bring travelers to this mostly-barren peninsula?
Xanthus smiled, then bowed again. "Forgive us, but we must be going into the temple. We are from a village not far from here, and it is a rite of passage into adulthood for teens of our village to come to this temple without the aid of adults to pay homage to the gods. Though... There may still be bandits inside, so, if you would like, you may accompany us." And with that, the four young Nabatans headed towards the temple doors.

"What?! Bandits in a sacred temple?" Note to self, ask Wyrnie what 'sacred' means later. "Come on, Wyrnie, we have to help these people. What if there's more bandits inside than were out here?"
She started to pull on Wyrne's arm in an attempt to get him to cede. "Besides, I want to see want this temple is like, it should be fun! Didn't you want to study things like this, anyways?"

Wyrne sighed... There was no way he could turn her down. After all, if he did, she'd probably try that... And that... Always work...
Better stop thinking about it
"Well, just be careful, okay Cess?"
But even as he said that, Wyrne readied himself of a possible betrayal. He did not know how real the existence of the bandits were... Or even if they were working for the guy. And Wyrne's experience told him not to trust humans, no matter how they seemed.

Xanthus frowned, his mind thinking of all the possibilities and dangerous outcomes of bringing two seemingly unarmed people not a temple held by bandits. He talked it over with Ajax, assuring the swordsman he would make sure nothing happened to the girls, and then turned to the two others. "You two should stay in the back. These bandits will not think twice about attacking unarmed people. But... Any help you could give us is very welcome," and with that, he lead the four Nabatans and the two strangers into the temple.
The place was crawling with bandits. There were at least eight, most axe users. However, a swordsman sat on the temple's altar. He noticed the group and yelled, "Aye, a group of ragamuffins wanting some treasure? I love a good rite of passage, it brings in the next meal. Well boys, let's have at them!"

The temple was grand on the insides, other than the ugly guys who had turned it into living quarters. There wasn't anything extremely out of the ordinary about it either, it was just a temple.
"Oh, wow, there are bandits... those are bandits, right?" She stared off into space, thinking for a second.
She whispered to Wyrne, so that the others couldn't hear, "There are a lot, are you sure we can't use our powers? I don't really understand why we can't..." There were a lot of things adults didn't explain to her, she just took it as a truth.

OoC: Sorry for the Suuuuuuper late reply, but I was busy.
BiC: "We really shouldn't, Cess... Remember... What happened before..?", Wyrne didn't wish to think about things... And he hoped that Cess would remember or try to think about why he was so reluctant to show their powers to any humans.
"Well... If we really need to... But do not do it so extravagant way... Okay...?"
