It had been nearly a month since Garith had parted was from his teacher Orrith and he had found himself traveling the plains of Ilia taking any job that had come his way. He had landed a few jobs this month, one helping someone track down a thief, another taking out a archer who had been harassing a village. It was a nice sunny day the calm winds were blowing Garith's hair to the left tickling his face. The warmth of the sun added to the peacefulness of this day for Garith. He walked for a few more minutes until he stopped near a tree to take a break. He sat down leaned up against the trunk of the tree and pulled out an apple from a bag he had been saving.
A village should be nearby He thought as he took a bite out of the apple. Garith had smelt fire earlier when he was walking down a hill. He figured that meant people should be nearby. After a few more bites of the apple he got back up and started off toward what he thinks is a village. As he started walking off he tossed the apple near the tree and a squirrel came rushing down the tree and started eating the remainders of the apple. Garith knew he was getting closer to some form of civilization because he could hear the sound of people laughing and the smell of meat cooking. Maybe this village will be very inviting and I will have a splendid time Garith thought as he approached what seemed to be a small village.
Garith was greeted by many people all with smiling faces as he entered the village. As people said hello he would just give them a weak smile back as his way of saying hello back. Garith walked to what seemed like a inn to see if he could stay here for the night. As he walked into the inn he was greeted by a girl probably around his age standing behind a counter.
“Hello sir welcome to the inn my name is Leera how my I help you?” The girl at the counter asked Garith as he walked toward the counter.
“How much is it to stay here?” Garith asked his voice soft and low.
“Oh it cost 5 gold to spend the night here,” Leera answered. “Well it seems we have a problem here I have no money,” Garith sighed as he took out his money bag and opened it. The mercenary jobs Garith had taken earlier he did for free because the people who came to him didn’t have money themselves either.
“Sorry I cannot let you stay here for free my father, the owner, would be upset at me he has enough to deal with,” Leera said apolitically.
“What seems to be bothering your father maybe I can help,” Garith offered thinking this would solve his no money issue.
“Well these bandits come into town every week and take money from the inn and sometimes trash the village,” She said with a concerned look on her face. She then grabbed something from inside the counter.
“Here is the key to room 2B its upstairs and to the right you can stay here for the night for free but only if you’ll help us solve our problem,” Leera said handing Garith the key.
“Thank you Leera my name is Garith Valkyrie and I’ll help anyway I can you just hired a mercenary so expect the job to be done,” Garith said thanking Leera as he walked up stairs. As he walked up the stairs Garith heard two people arguing down the hall to the left of him. Garith just ignored it and unlocked the door to his room and walked in. The room wasn’t very big there was a normal sized bed up against the wall to the right pushed up in the corner.
A small desk placed to the left in front of a window. Garith walked to the bed, took of the cloak he was wearing and sat down on the bed. His attention then went to the window it was getting dark out which was surprising it was sunny just a minute ago. Where does the day go Garith thought as he started taking of his armor. Once he was finished taking off his armor he was left wearing just a black shirt and shorts.
As he was about to get ready to go to sleep he noticed a piece of paper being slipped underneath the door. Garith got up from the bed picked up the folded piece of paper. He then unfolded it and started reading it. Thank you Garith for helping me and my family tomorrow morning after we eat breakfast I will tell you where you can find those bandits from Leera. That’s what the letter read. Garith put the letter on the desk and got into the bed. He then quickly fell asleep.

Garith woke in the morning to the smell of some kind of fresh fruit he couldn’t get his wrap around it at the moment. He sat up on his bed rubbing the back of his head one eye open looking around the room. He noticed then that someone had left a plate of food on the desk in the room. I wonder who left this here He thought as he got out of bed and walked to the desk. He found a note like the one last night. He grabbed the note as he sat down.
“Good morning Garith,” Garith began reading out loud lowly.
“I’ve been sending you note instead of coming to see you because if my father finds out you’re staying here for free we’ll both be in deep trouble. Now eat up and then come downstairs and I’ll tell you where to find the bandits,” Garith said softly finishing the letter. His attention then went to the plate on the desk. As he put the letter down he picked up the fork next to the plate and examined the food. There were eggs, bacon, pancakes and some blueberries.
Garith at the food quickly he wanted to get downstairs quickly to get his job over with. As he finished the food he quickly got his armor on and ran out the door. But, as he walked out the door he bumped into Leera who was about to walk into the door.
“Oh sorry,” Garith apologized as he recovered from the clash. He had just staggered back but Leera and been knocked to the floor. “Please let me help you up,” He said as he put out is right hand a small smile on his face.
“Oh it’s ok thank you for helping me up,” Leera said as she took his hand and Garith lifted her up. The two then walked down stairs to the counter to discuss Garith’s mission.
“Alright the bandits have a camp just outside of town you will want to go there,” Leera began as she started to draw a map on a piece of paper.
“Please see if you can talk to the bandits I don’t want you to get hurt there are at least four of them,” She said as she finished drawing the map and handed it to Garith. Garith then nodded showing that he understood what he had to do. As he started to walk out the door Leera ran and handed him a bag.
“Here’s 10 gold Garith it’s all we could spare,” Leera said as she handed him the bag. Quickly Garith gave back the bag and made a face saying he wouldn’t take any money from her the room was payment enough. He also wanted to do this because it was the right thing to do.
Know let’s see where these bandits are hiding out Garith thought as he looked at the map Leera drew for him. It had a childish looking drawing of the town on it and an arrow pointing to the right where there was an X showing that’s where the bandits where. For the next few minutes Garith walked through town and he noticed it had turned from inviting and friendly to deserted and scary.
They must know that the bandits are coming and are hiding from them Garith figured as he walked past what looked like a shop of some kind that had a out of business sign on it. Garith felt an ominous wind blowing, he didn’t like it. As Garith was about to reach the exit of the town he was stopped by a group of four men with worn out armor on.
“Hey kid where are you going?” The biggest one with the scar on his face and a beard asked with a devilish smile. Garith smirked, he thought the man’s attempt of intimidation was funny.
“What’s so funny kid?!” The slimmer and weaker looking one of the men snarled. The men then all pulled out there weapons. Two pulled out swords, one pulled out a axe and the other got his lance ready for battle.
“Do you punks always pick on this town around this time of week?” Garith asked the men with a bored look on his face.
“Yeah but it’s none of you business kid!” The one with the lance shouted.
This made Garith laugh a little he was in the mood for a fight and one was coming to him.

“What’s so funny?” The bigger of the man with the scar asked as he gripped his axe tighter.
“What’s funny is the fact that you bums actually think you’re all big and bad because you terrorize a small town,” Garith began the bandits getting upset and riled up.
“But in reality you’re nothing just a bunch of bullies with swords I bet you don’t even know how to use those,” Garith said as he took of the cloak he normally wears.
“I’m not going to take that from some kid I’ll take care of him men,” The man with the scar remarked as he stepped out of their little circle his axe ready to fight.
“Alright let’s go just to let you know my name is Garith Valkyrie and I’ll be the one to beat you today,” Garith growled as he pulled out his sword from the sheath on his back ready to fight. All was still for a brief moment it seemed all of time had stopped.
“Arrrgh!” The man roared as he blindly charged at Garith. Garith smiled a bit he saw many openings, the man didn’t seem like he was very skilled it was more so he just rushed in with brute force. Garith swiftly jumped out of the way and slash the man in his back.
“Why don’t you tell me your name,” Garith suggested with a cocky smirk as some of the blood from the man dripped off Garith’s sword. “My name is Volhar and I’ll be the one to kill you!” The man shouted as he charged at Garith again but this time much faster that before.
The two’s weapons clashed and a struggle of power began. Volhar had moved his eyes in an strange way which made Garith suspicious so he looked behind him to see the men with the swords come at him. He tried to get out of the way fast enough but one of the swords skinned his right side.
“Three against one doesn’t seem fair,” Garith said he sword’s tip in the ground and his left hand on the wound. As he said that noticed the man with the lance was already attacking him. Garith as fast as he could began to jump out of the way sword in hand. The lance’s reach was longer than Garith thought and it slashed him on his right side a bit lower from where he got hit last time.
I’m not going to be able to win if they all attack me while I’m distracted fighting another one so I have to get them separated Garith thought as the bandits gathered themselves tighter.
“You guys are real tough teaming up on me I bet you can’t take me on one on one,” Garith said. He was panting which wasn’t good he was getting tired his wounds making things seem slower than usual.
What’s going on I only took two hits I should be fine Garith thought has his vision was starting to get fuzzy. He shook his head to try to focus on the bandits but everything was still blurry.
“It looks like my poison is setting in,” The man with the lance sneered with a devilish smile.
Garith then looked to his wound from the lance and he found some strange purple liquid near the wound. Crap now what am I going to do sooner or later I’m going to overcome by the poison why’d I have to fight bandits with poisoned weapons Garith thought as he tightened his grasp on his sword.
“We’ll humor you’re little challenge Garith I’ll fight you,” One of the men with a sword said as he stepped out of there formation.
“You’ll regret it,” Garith said his voice sounding sick and his face looking pale.
“Yeah right!” The man shouted as he charged at Garith his sword in the air.
What is this guy a rookie? Garith thought as he took advantage of the bandits’ poor handling of his sword in a fight and quickly ducked down and slashed the man in the chest making direct contact.
“One down,” Garith said as the bandit dropped to the ground dead cold. This stroke fear in the other bandits as the all stepped back a few steps.
“I’ll take him on his sword doesn’t have a long enough reach as my lance,” One bandit said as he stepped toward Garith. The two stood perfectly still they were waiting to see who was going to make the first move.
As the bandit jabbed his lance at Garith he quickly stepped out of the way to the right as slashed the bandit in the leg. The bandit dropped to one knee holding the spot where he got slashed leaving his lance on the ground.
“I’ll help you!” The other bandit with another sword shouted as he came rushing at Garith. Garith quickly blocked the bandits attack but his hands were shaking the poison was getting to him. As the two pushed at each other to get the upper hand the bandit with the lance got back up and lunged his lance at Garith.
Oh no you don’t Garith thought as he saw the bandit in the reflection of the other bandit’s sword. He then jumped out of the way leaving the lance situation to the bandit with the sword. Garith had stumbled to the ground but when he turned to see what had happened he couldn’t help but laugh. The bandit with the lance had stabbed his own teammate in the stomach.
“Aren’t you guys supposed to be on a team?” Garith asked jokingly as he stood back up sword at the ready. Taking advantage of the moment Garith ran at the man with the lance at sliced at his waist.
“Three down,” Garith said as he turned to Volhar and the man with the sword dropped to the ground lance still in his stomach. The man with the lance had been cut in half his top half dropped to the ground and his lower half stood up for a few moments before it dropped.
“You just beat a bunch of weaklings you can’t beat me!” Volhar roared as he charged at Garith.
“I don’t have time for this,” Garith growled the poison was getting to him he felt weak a fragile he wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to beat Volhar. The two’s weapons clashed and Garith was immediately pushed back by Volhars’ brute strength.
“Ha kid you all bark but no bite!” Volhar laughed as he put more force into his attack. Garith was struggling to out push Volhar but the poison was too strong and Garith went down on one knee.
I’m going to die unless I do something Garith thought. He then mustered up all his strength and pushed back enough to be able to stand up again. Wanting to end this fight Garith quickly took his right foot and sweep kicked Volhar.
“No please don’t kill me I’ll leave this town alone just please!” Volhar exclaimed begging for his life as Garith was about to stab the grounded bandit.
“Sorry pal but my job is to get rid of you,” Garith said as he stabbed Volhar in the chest. As he pulled his sword out of Volhar and shook the blood of it by spinning it a couple times Leera came running toward him.
“Garith you did it I saw everything and heard everything so I brought the town healer to help you with the poison,” Leera began as she looked to Volhar.
“Kind of harsh you had to kill him,” She said looking somewhat sad.
“It was either that or let him kill me I wasn’t going to trust him,” Garith replied. The poison had finally won over his body and Garith dropped to the ground unconscious.

Garith woke to a sharp pain in his right side and the back of his head. He was in the bed inside the room he had been staying in. Garith sat up right in the bed, he got up slowly he was still in pain. He looked around the room to see that it looked the same that it usually did but something was off. Garith then tossed off the covers on him to find that his entire torso was covered in bandages Garith felt like he was a mummy.
He started wondering what had happened after that fight with those bandits the last thing he remembered was talking to Leera. He then noticed a note sitting on the desk to the left. Garith slowly got out of the bed and walked to the desk.
Wonder what Leera has to say today Garith thought as he picked up the note and starting reading it. The note had read that Garith had been out for at least four days and the town doctor had dulled the poison but only time would fully restore Garith’s health.
Wait for my next note to come before you leave the room I have left the town to get some supplies so just hang out in the room ok Garith read in his mind the rest of the note. He placed the note back down on the desk and walked back to the bed. Before he laid back into the bed he noticed his armor and his sword placed neatly in the corner next to his bed. Garith then laid back into his bed and started staring at the ceiling.
For the next few hours Garith spent his time rolling around in the bed, staring at the ceiling and even looking out the window from the desk he was getting very bored. Tired of waiting for Leera Garith put his armor back on and grabbed his sword and stepped out of the room. He quietly walked down the steps trying not to alert any attention to him. There were a few people in the front area of the inn and they all were speaking of one thing, the mercenary who slayed the bandits. This made Garith smile he felt like a hero.
Garith walked outside of the inn wanting to find something to do. He really didn’t find anything he walked around the town perimeter a couple of times only for see a few children playing and some wandering animals. Garith had honestly never been this bored before. He stopped at a large building and sat down leaning up against the wall.
“Hello young man may I interest you in a fortune telling session?” A pink haired older woman asked Garith as she walked out the building Garith was leaning up against.
“Sure…” Garith said softly as he stood up and followed the woman into the building. Garith walked into a dark room with a single table and candles lit all over the room. On the table was a glass ball which Garith figured was part of the telling.
He sat on the left end of the table while the woman sat on the other end. Garith leaned back in his chair and made a bored and uninterested look.
“My name is Ninel I will be telling you of your upcoming and distant future Garith,” The woman said introducing herself. Garith then gave her a questioning look by raising one eyebrow now looking confused on how she knew his name.
“Don’t act so surprised Garith I know many things about you like your past, present and future,” Ninel said as she started waving her wands around the crystal ball. For a few minutes it was dead silent in the room just Garith sitting patiently and Ninel waving her hands around.
This is such a waste of my time I have better things to be doing Garith thought as the fortune teller continued to wave her arms around.
“Garith Valkyrie I see many things in your future,” Ninel began as the crystal ball began to glow, this sparked Garith interest.
“I see an old and new friend coming to your aid, a devastating battle that leaves you on the brink of life, many challenges coming along the way one that I’m not sure if you will make it out alive,” Ninel said as she stopped waving her arms and the crystal stopped glowing.
“Interesting,” Garith said as he stood up.
“Thank you for your services,” He said as he left the building and started walking off. Garith figured that the whole thing was just a shame and probably wouldn’t even come true, good thing it was free though.
He looked back and noticed that Ninel was staring at him with a concerned and dreadful look. Garith ignored this of course and kept walking. A sharp pain than overcame Garith’s body causing him to drop to the ground on one knee.
The poison! Garith began to think. He then got up and started to run toward the inn.
Hopefully Leera is back and she can tell me where this doctor is Garith thought as he ran.

Garith ran as fast as he could under the conditions he was in, his vision was getting blurred so it was hard to see where he was going. Unable to go any further Garith dropped to the ground leaned up against a building wall his face looked as if he was in great pain. Garith sat there panting and looking around to see if anyone was around to help. Even with his blurred vision he could tell that people were panicking in the town and running off in many different directions.
What’s going on? Garith thought as he looked around. Now his vision was getting even worse and he had an extremely painful headache. Unable to get up and start running he tried to start crawling but it was too painful to move so he stopped. Garith could feel it getting worse and didn’t think at first that the poison would do this much. His eyes started to close out of his control and he could feel his senses fade away. The last thing he could remember was seeing a figure come at him.
“What are you doing brining this kid here we have more important things to be doing you fool?!” A worried voice Garith heard growled. Garith’s eyes were still closed but he could still here voices of what he thinks are three men.
“Queht will you calm down he might be able to help us with our plan,” A familiar voice to Garith had said in an annoyed voice.
“Calnith please tell me you agree with me it was a bad idea to bring this kid here,” The worried voice squawked. Garith heard noises that sounded like as if people were moving things around to find something.
“Queht calm down Hellhound makes a good point Garith could be helpful to us,” A more relaxed and laid-back voice said. This made Garith confused and a bit worried he wondered how these people knew him and what plan did they have involved for him. Garith’s eyes now slowly opened and he was greeted to a old stained looking ceiling and the smell of things that probably shouldn’t have been mixed.
“Ah he’s awake good it’s nice to see an old friend,” The familiar voice said to Garith. Garith then slowly sat up, his body still in pain and looked to the people who were making the voices. One man dressed in black and red robes, black long hair and blue eyes, slim body, with a slim sword strapped to his hip. Another man wearing a green and red cloak, shinny brown eyes and green shaggy hair stood next to the other man. Sitting on a chair however was a man that Garith hadn’t seen in a while.
“Orrith!” Garith exclaimed happy to see his old teacher. But something was different about Orrith he was wearing different armor then he was before. Before Orrith had been wearing his usual mercenary outfit but this time he was wearing more armor. Orrrith’s armor was colored black and red and he was wearing a chest plate, greaves, pauldrons even armor on his arms and hands that was strange for Orrith. He still had his short blonde hair and sky blue eyes and long goofy smile.
“Good to see you Garith this is Calnith and the worry-wart over there is Queht we together are a band of mercenary called Hellbreakers,” Orrith began as he first pointed to the long black haired one then to the green haired one.
“The name I go as is Hellhound, Calnith is the Grim Reaper and Queht is the HellSage we’ve been working on how to settle a dispute dealing with a group of people and something to do with the area of Edessa,” Orrith said as he leaned back in his chair he was sitting in.
“Hey Orrith how come your armor looks so different?” Garith asked happily excited to see his old teacher.
“Oh I got promoted to the hero class now so I’m kind of famous,” Orrith replied smirking and rubbing his nose.
“Calnith here is a sword master and Queht is a Sage, Queht healed you and cured you of you poison but don’t try to do anything yet you’re still healing a bit,” He added.
“Nice to meet you,” Calnith said as he bowed his head a bit.
“No thanks are necessary boy I did it with much ease,” Queht said prideful.
“Much ease yeah right Queht you were complaining that Garith was moving around in his sleep too much,” Orrith laughed.
“Anyway Garith there’s something we need you to help us with since Hellbreakers is a widely known mercenary group we’ve been hired to do something but we need your help,” Orrith said with a serious look on his face.

“Now Garith we’ve been hired to wipe out a few people but those people are traveling in what seems like an army,” Orrith began. The Queht went to a book case located to the right corner of the room and grabbed what looked like a map.
“So what we need to get you to join this group and earn their trust, I will come to you every once in a while so you can report anything you can find our clients want information on what they’re up to,” Queht said as he rolled out the map.
“We need to get here Edessa not far,” He added as he pointed at a area in Ilia on the map. Orrith now got up and gathered some things from a corner.
“Here Garith put your clothes and armor back on,” Orrith said as Garith got out of the bed.
“Garith this plan is very dangerous and I don’t want to force you into doing something you don’t want to but we really need your help our faces are too well known they might run or attack if they see us,” He added as Garith got dressed.
“Sure thing Orrith but can you tell us more about these people and what did they do to get your attention?” Garith asked as he put his sword in its sheath. Calnith then stepped forward holding something.
“Well Garith that’s why we need you to investigate and find out their motives we already sent one of our members Velix, an assassin known as DoomBringer, to gather some information but he says he needs more time and he needs to get closer,” Calnith said as he handed Garith some scrolls with pictures of some of the people.
“These people don’t seem like they are evil in anyway Orrith are you sure?” Garith asked as he handed Calnith back the scrolls. As he said that a man with red hair wearing a black cloak came into the room with a bored look.
“Velix how did the spying go?” Calnith asked the man as he walked in. Velix walked to Orrith handed him a scroll and then faced Calnith.
“It went disappointingly brother I didn’t really get any information worth bringing back all I know is that there resting for now,” Velix said as he gave Calnith a hug.
“How’s your son?” Velix asked Queht he was exaiming what looked like battle plans.
“Oh Zelphiam he is fine he started off on his own journey he said something about become as strong as the Grim Reaper of Ilia,” Queht answered as he looked toward Calnith with a small smile on his face.
“Vel meet my old student Garith Valkyrie he’ll be helping us get more information by joining them,” Orrith said as Velix and Garith shook hands.
“Nice to meet you Garith, word of advice when dealing with undercover missions create a fake name take this one Quell Siren,” Velix said.Quell Siren sounds kind of odd Garith thought.
“No not Quell Siren go with Gene Grith,” Orrith chimed in. Queht gave Orrith a strange look as if he knew that name. Queht just shrugged and went back to writing something down.
“Anyway let’s get going Garith you look ready Calnith, Velix, and myself will travel with you as far as we can and remember don’t get attach to any of them you don’t know what they are planning to do and what we are planning to do,” He added as he showed Garith the door.
“Ok Orrith I won’t but what is my motive?” Garith asked as the group started walking down steps all but Queht. “The protection of Ilia your home,” Orrith answered as they walked out a door that lead outside.
“Wait that’s the only room in this building?” Garith asked as he turned around to see that he had left a large building.
“No that’s just the only room we let people see,” Calnith said as he started walking. Garith looked around to notice that he was still in the same town he was in for the past few days.
“Garith!” A voice shouted. Garith turned to find Leera dashing toward Garith like a mad bull her face looking very sad and confused.
“What’s wrong?” Garith asked the worried girl. In the corner of his eye he noticed that Orrith and Velix keep walking but Calnith stayed.

“More bandits are here Garith!” Leera exclaimed. Gariths’ eyes widened and his heart started racing.
More bandits, that is why those people were running Garith thought as he remembered the panicking people.
“Garith go catch up with Orrith and Velix I’ll deal with these bandits,” Calnith said to Garith as he placed his hand on Gariths’ right shoulder. Garith turned to the swordmaster and gave him an I understand look and darted off after Orrith and Velix. “Hello little girl my name is Calnith Revor and I’ll help you deal with these bandits,” Calnith said to the girl who seemed to calm down a bit.
“Are you a friend of Garith?” Leera asked Calnith. Calnith responded by shaking his head yes. The two started walking off in the opposite direction of the others.
“Calnith staying to deal with the bandits?” Orrith asked Garith as he caught up to him and Velix.
“Yeah but did you all ready know about the bandits?” Garith asked.
“We saw them coming a while ago and decided we would deal with them later,” Velix said as the three were coming to the exit of the town. Out of the blue they all stopped to the sound of swords clashing and explosions.
“Hm sounds like some mages looks like The Grim Reaper has some work on his hands,” Orrith said as the group stopped to watch the smoke rise into the air.
“Calnith is probably happy he gets to fight wish that was me,” Velix said as he started to walk. Garith and Orrith quickly followed after him. They were now outside of the town waiting at a tree for Calnith.
“Hey Orrith I’ve been wondering how did you get promoted to hero class?” Garith asked Orrith who was on the ground leaned up against the three.
“Oh well it was kind of an accident, I was walking down a path one day and a wondering merchant was being attack by a group of petty thieves,” Orrith began as he was poking the ground with a twig.
“I took out the weak thieves with ease and the merchant rewarded me with a hero crest, it’s somewhat proof that you’re strong enough to become of the hero class. So I went to Arphen so I could be officially promoted but when I got there they thought it was a fake so they had to test me,” Orrith said as he stood up.
“I had to prove my strength so they made me fight someone of the hero class and win. It was hard alright but I barely won and that’s how I became one,” Orrith said finishing his little story. Now Calnith was back, blood on his blade and a saddened look.
“How did it go?” Velix asked his brother. Calnith seemed fine just a few cuts here and there and his clothes were brunt a bit.
“Two mages, a fighter, two archers and someone else but he got away before I could get to him,” Calnith answered as he looked at his sword. He spun it around a few times to get the blood off of it and then put it back into its sheath.
“The villagers are they all safe?” Orrith asked.
“I don’t really know, I got some of the too safety but some were not as lucky,” Calnith answered as he then looked toward Garith.
“Leera was killed Garith, she was hit with an arrow I tried to stop the archer but I was too late,” He then said. But before Garith could so any signs of emotion the heard another explosion and they all noticed burning buildings in the town.
“Garith stay here Queht was still back there us three will go you stay put,” Orrith said as the Hellbreakers went of rushing to their friend
Great first I hear Leera dies and now I don’t even get to help out Garith thought. Now angry and frustrated he punched the trunk of the tree he was standing by a tear went down his right cheek
“Hello boy,” A man said as he appeared from behind the tree wearing a cloak hood up concealing his face. Garith quickly pulled out his sword, he was upset and taking it out on this guy would be fun.

“No need to be alarmed boy I just want to ask you a few questions,” The man said as he took down his hood. The man had a large scar over his eyes, which were red and looked devilish. The man’s hair was black, long and shaggy. Garith didn’t say anything he just stood his grip tight on his sword glaring at the man.
“Silent type eh fine, do you know Orrith?” The man asked. Garith didn’t answer the man he just kept glaring at him.
“Where are my manors my name is Yorjick and I’m a old friend of Orrith so do you know him kid,” Yorjick said now with a irritated voice from Garith’s silence. Yet Garith just stood his ground not making a sound.
“Fine then kid I’ll beat the information out of you,” Yorjick growled as he pulled out a large, sharp looking dagger. Yorjick then quickly charged at Garith and their weapons clashed and a power struggle began.
“What do you want from Orrith!?” Garith growled as he tried to push back the attacker. Yorjick smirked and then quickly slashed at Garith’s leg and then jumped back to get into a safe distance away. “Now you’re talking boy, Orrith is the one who gave me this scar and cost me a job. A while back me and him use to be partners and we were working for some wealthy folk I didn’t feel like doing the job and suggested we cut out the middle man, Orrith as a goody-goody he is disagreed and we got into a fight enough said” Yorjick snarled.
“So as a little warm up I’ll take care of you!” Yorjick roared as he charged at Garith who was having trouble standing on his left leg. Garith luckily dodge Yorjick’s first attack but he quickly came back dagger coming straight for Garith’s chest. Garith quickly placed his sword in front of his chest blocking the attack. Then Yorjick tried to sweep kick Garith but Garith jumped over his legs and the attacked Yorjick by bringing his sword down at him.
“I’m surprised you can keep up with my attacks I am an assassin after all,” Yorjick commented as he blocked Garith’s attack. “Well time to fight seriously,” He said. He then pushed Garith back and leaped a few steps back. Yorjick then spun his dagger in the air and then quickly snatched it in his hand, he was ready to do something.
In a quick flash Yorjick slashed Garith in his right arm and then he left. Yorjick in quick flashes keep slashing Garith in different spots. Garith tried to move his sword to block the attacks but the assassin was moving too fast. Garith dropped his sword when Yorjick slashed him right above his right hand. He then dropped to one knee when he was slashed behind his left knee.
“Now to finish you,” Yorjick sneered as he stopped attacking Garith and stood in front of him. The cocky assassin stood in front of the young mercenary spinning his dagger with a big victorious smile on his face. Garith looked up to Yorjick with an angry look.
“Aww does the little baby have something to say?” Yorjick asked as he kicked Garith in the face with his right foot. Garith then just turned to Yorjick and spat blood at his face.
“Nice good last words,” Yorjick said s he rubbed the blood of his face and onto the floor. His dagger then went at Garith piercing his armor and into his chest. Yorjick smiled when he say Garith’s head drop he was victorious.
“Wait what?!” Yorjick exclaimed when the supposedly downed Garith grabbed his arm holding the dagger.
“Now I have you!” Garith roared as he lifted his head his eyes filled with fire of determination. Garith then picked up his sword with his right hand and lunged it at Yorjick. This made him grin Yorjick had some armor on his hand so he just knocked the sword out of the way. Then a hidden dagger came from his sleeve and his slashed at Garith.
Garith with the little strength he had left picked up his sword a blocked the attack. With both his hands full Yorjick resorted to a hidden blade in his boot. Garith’s eyes widened as he saw the knife came at him.
“Garith!” Orrith shouted as he saw Garith get sliced in the face by the assassin. Velix moving faster than the others quickly grabbed the Yorjick and dragged him away. Queht holding a staff came running to attend Garith who still had the dagger in his chest and a gapping scar on his face where his other scar was it now looked as if he had an X on his face.
“Velix my old friend if you’ll excuse me I have someone to finish!” Yorjick squawked as he elbowed Doombringer in the face which made Velix let go of him.
“Die Orrith!” Yorjick shouted as he charged at Orrith. Garith who was barely moving noticed that Orrith’s sword was probably long enough to get Yorjick the moment right before he attacks if he times this right.
There was a moment of complete silence when Garith’s plan worked. Orrith wasn’t paying any mind to Yorjick so the assassin was inches away from stabbing him with a dagger he hid.
“Hey Orrith mind getting this dagger out of me,” Garith said laughingly as all the members of Hellbreakers were shocked at what had just happened.

“How is he?” The worried Orrith asked Queht who was busy tending to Garith’s wounds. Queht gave Orrith a shut up look and continued using his staff’s magical powers to heal Garith. The group was now in a dim lit room in a rundown building in the city of Edessa. They had been there for three days tending to Garith who was in bad shape.
“Man Queht you’ve been waving that thing over me for too long let me up,” Garith wined he was getting restless. Velix then walked up to the boy who was laying in a bed and patted him on his shoulder. “Garith be patient and let Queht work he should be finished soon,” He said. Then both Calnith and Velix left the room.
“Where are they going?” Garith asked as he was rubbing the bandage over his new scar. Queht then smacked Garith’s hand and waved his finger at him.
“Garith we’re in Edessa they’re going to get some information of the people we came here for,” Orrith answered as he sat down in a chair and examined Garith sword.
“Geez kid you couldn’t spring for a iron sword this slim blade is really weak,” Orrith said as he tossed the slim sword somewhere into the room and grabbed a freshly made iron sword.
“Well I’m all done here Garith although your left arm is broken and that will take time to heal and that scar on your face is permanent,” Queht said as he placed the staff next to the bed and went off the read a book. Garith then slowly got up and moved his right arm around a bit.
“Well at least I can still fight,” Garith said as he grabbed the iron sword from Orrith and started swinging it around.
“Garith we fixed your armor so hurry up and get it on and come outside,” Orrith said as he stood up from the chair and walked out the door. Garith quickly did what Orrith said.
“Now Garith I want to see how much you progressed,” Orrith said as he pulled out his own sword.
“What?!” Garith said confused and shocked by what Orrith had said he had just been healed. Despite Garith’s previous conditions Orrith came charging at Garith full force. Garith quickly jumped out of the way of Orrith’s first attack and swung at him. Orrith blocked Garith’s attack by smacking his sword out of the way with his own. This caused Garith to stagger back a bit almost losing his balance.
“Come on Garith fight me seriously,” Orrith grunted as he swung his sword around. Garith now provoked blindly charged at the hero. Orrith first smirked and then dodged Garith sword by stepping to the right and then retaliated by hitting Garith with the hilt of his sword in the back of his head.
“If this is all you got I’m seriously disappointed,” Orrith said as Garith got back up from the last hit.
Alright Orrith let’s fight Garith thought in his mind as he charged at Orrith sword dragged into the ground.
What is he doing? Orrith thought as he prepared for Garith’s attack. Instead of swing his blade at Orrith, Garith swung the blade inches away from Orrith’s face causing dirt a mud to fly into his eyes blinding him.
“Impressive Garith, you knew you couldn’t take me head on so you do this,” Orrith said as he stood perfectly still as Garith ran circles around him. As Garith made an attack by swinging his sword at Orrith vertically, Orrith heard Garith footsteps and quickly blocked the attack and then tripped Garith to the ground his sword pointed to his neck.
“Good Garith good but you’re still not as good as me,” Orrith said laughingly as he sheathed his sword and helped Garith up.
“One day I will,” Garith said as he put his sword away. Orrith then wiped his eyes and Velix and Calnith had come back from their mission.
“Ok Garith we have some information for you,” Velix began as Calnith pulled out some scrolls.
“Try talking to Richter or Marle they might higher you as a mercenary to help their cause,” Velix said as Calnith showed Garith paintings of the two.
“Richter is unlikely to even talk to you but try him anyway but go for Marle first,” Calnith said as he put the scrolls away and handed Garith a bag.
“There are some clothes and food, now get going,” Velix said. “Where do I start?” Garith asked as he walked a few steps in front of the group. It was dead silent before Garith turned around to see that Calnith, Velix and Orrith were gone and Queht stood before him.
“Garith take this magical pendant and keep it with you every two days I want you to press down on that pendant and it will summon me and when I come I want some information on those people and make sure they never figure out what were up to,” Queht said as he handed Garith the gold pendant. Garith put the pendant in his bag and started walking off.
Great now I’m all alone in Edessa and have no idea where to find these people Garith thought as he walked around the city.
