Mostly because crashing through any game's storyline hilariously overpowered after breaking the game is riotously fun every time. Only if it isn't the first time. I always play a game without breaking it first, then once I have beaten it I allow myself to break it. That way I can always claim I played the game as it was meant to be played.

I always play a game without breaking it first, then once I have beaten it I allow myself to break it. That way I can always claim I played the game as it was meant to be played. Depends on the game, for me. I don't go into most games in the mindset "I want to break this game and ruin any degree of challenge for myself" - it's more like I run into something hard, powerlevel for a while, and enjoy running roughshod for the next few chapters before having to pay attention to the strategy again. It also depends on how you define "break." Using the control enemy glitch in FESS to get monster weapons? Realizing that Amelia has stupid high growths so a 10/20/20 Amelia can fairly literally solo everything sans maybe Demon King/Dracozombies? That definition will vary between games, as well. "Breaking" Disgaea 4 is the whole -point- of the postgame - it borderline-explicitly expects you to do exactly that. That's the -point- of Disgaea postgame; figuring out how to beat the ridiculously overpowered secret bosses. Is using Item World during the story "breaking" the game? It tells you to use Item World, makes it available very early - and Item World will absolutely ruin any remaining semblance of challenge in the storyline if you make it through even one or two items.

I played and beat the crap out of the first Disgaea, never had the patience to do it again. Or the time for that matter.
I used Item World rarely. I experimented with it a little bit, but mostly I kept things legit. And it always felt like an accomplishment to clear every level. Did the same for Disgaea 2, but couldn't tough it out for the postgame on that one.

D2 was basically the failed abortion of the Disgaea series.
That's all I have to say about that.

SERIOUSLY!?! disgaea 2 was one of the BEST, disgaea 3 was the failed one.

note that at no point did I claim D3 was good
D2 was just craptastic, though. Abortion of a plot, characters that I'm convinced were specifically designed to be as obnoxious and one-dimensional as possible, and they even managed to ruin the XP bonus system.
D3 ruined the attack/defense system with skill boosting though, along with, uh, pretty close to as bad characters in general. not AS bad though.

Too bad we're probably not getting it, though. Any news regarding that, by the way?

There's another one in the making, already? Even though we don't have an English version of New Mystery of the Emblem. I am most disappoint. :/
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd have to say that FE9 was the best simply because of how awesome the main villian was. Ashnard, a man so great, that he reached third tier in a game with only two tiers.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like new mystery of the emblem is coming out anywhere else.

The My unit system is returning the Fire Emblem:Awakening!
He/she looks like a main charcter, customizable in all but class. The class looks like it is strategist, and is able to use swords and magic. Check Serenesforest.net for updates and info!
