Isabel heard yelling from further in the fortress, although the words themselves were tuned out as she watched Jya disappear into the shadows. The pupil shivered at that; it was an uncanny ability, one that scared her more than any sword or arrow she had or ever would face. It made her realize that, even though they were friends, Jya would be a terrifying enemy to have... But luckily, they were friends, so hopefully Isabel would not have to worry about that. And the next thing she knows, Isabel is being shove backward by the priest's staff. "Hey, what's the bid ide---" she started, and then saw the arrow hit Valorian. Or, rather, it only grazed him, but no matter. And then she watched in awe as he summoned fire, seemingly from his staff, to attack the opposing sniper.
And then he turned to face Isabel and Calvin, telling them to hide. "Well, naturally! But you need to come too, Valorian. You quite possibly just saved my life, and you seem... Tired. You are in no condition to cast another spell! We'll look for a way to signal Rayl and Tara, but you are coming with us, you hear me, you crazy priest!" And here's how I thank him, Isabel thought, a little smirk twitching at the edge of her mouth.

Jya had been moving across the shadows keeping an eye out for Valorian until she found a dilemma. Although the walls appeared scale able it was only a false reassurance. She noticed the crumbling and the roots already prying from the walls. She couldn't follow them anymore this route so she rushed back to where there appeared to be another window. When she reached the outside, she noticed how much more exposed she was in the day. She had to hurry up and catch up. It wasn't long until she could hear shouts coming from the direction that Valorian was heading.
Yikes! What was she to do? She had to find another window fast... With a quick footing she ran across ledges and solid areas. When she found a gap, she practically risked her life darting across the side for a second and jumping onto the other side. It wasn't as difficult or dangerous as it seemed. The shouts had a ripple effect as men outside began to beat at one another. A stray arrow somehow managed to miss her by an inch. Wait... It wasn't a stray! She ran though the sides, arrows swishing close behind. Her lungs were burning but thanks to the adrenaline the exhaustion won't kick in anytime soon. At the first sign of an entrance she jumped through the window and into reassuring darkness. It seemed to be a detached piece of plank, solid enough...
There was quite a bit of strong people fighting in the room. She looked around and rushed around the corner. The exit door was ajar now but a hulking man in armor blocking the way while fending off some magic users. She had to reunite with the others in some way, with that determination she rushed down enough and leaped at the man, her blade drawn. It must had been an awful surprise, especially a clean blade going through one's neck. As she knew the head was probably gurgling blood she rushed into the darkness, a dark green blur...

Valorian might have found Isabel's insistence refreshing once, but not right now. "S-Someone has to help Jya...she works well in chaos...but alone..." He didn't even want to think about it. He was breathing pretty heavily, but he was sure he could summon the magic again. "Find a way...to signal Rayl...we'll need his backup..." He said, as he turned to advance towards the railing. From up here, he had a good view of the battle. He saw a general over in the corner standing tall and fighting...and then he fell, blood pouring from his throat. Valorian could have sworn he saw a flash of green for an instant. So she was still alive, good.
[blue]"An Assassin! You bastards! You double crossed us by offing the priest!" The Bern General shouted. "Kill them all! We'll tear this fort down brick by brick!" He announced, impaling an unfortunate mage through the chest with his lance.[/blue]
Valorian saw a soldier in the wings, following the way Jya went. With a quick motion, the staff errupted fire once again, and the scorched body fell to the earth behind her.
He was doing ok...but how long could he keep this up. Suddenly, he began to cough heavily, which drew unfortunate attention to himself. Looking up, he saw a Wyvern Lord flying out of the central area to make a stab at him. His flight space was limited, but it was enough to get a stab towards the stunned bishop.

The Wyvern Lord's jab would only meet empty space as Isabel dragged Valorian backwards. She and Calvin quickly hurried back through the narrower hallway they had come from, which Isabel hoped would be too narrow for the Wyvern Lord's wyvern to enter. She looked over her shoulder, and saw and heard the wyvern screech in frustration at them before turning back to the battle going on down below. Isabel dragged Valorian, Calvin close on her heels, back to the room they had entered. The door to the room was rotted, unusable to block anyone who wanted in. Isabel strung a few choice swear words in such a way that would make some sailors blush, and then looked for something she could use to signal Rayl. Something, anything... And then her memory turned to Calvin's notebook that she had seen him sketching in earlier.
"Calvin, give me your notebook. Now!"

Tara let out a small gasp as Rayl detailed his story. She had no idea that anyone from the last great battle of the Bandit War was still around these parts! "To be in the presence of someone who, let alone took part in the bandit war, but struck the killing blow on the vile Hargus?! I am truly honored to meet you, Sir Rayl... Or perhaps it would be better to call you Lord?" Tara could hardly speak. All she had heard about back home was how desperate the war had gotten... Now she was in the same few feet of the man that ended it...
The paladin sort of broke the moment, and Tara's reverie, when he toppled off of his horse and next to him. she could not help but let out a laugh. It was then that she realized how long it had been since she had laughed... apologizing, she helped Rayl up, taking him by both hands, for his musculature, combined with the armor he was wearing, made it almost impossible.
She pulled her hands back once Rayl was on his feet and said, "My husband's son... From his first wife, you see, was a paladin. He taught me many things after he came back from the war. he told me he did not participate in the final battle, for he was engaged in a smaller skirmish a bit north of here. I don't really know why, but seeing you fall made me think of him." she smiled and brushed a bit of dirt off of Rayl's armor.

Jya heard the scream of a man falling close behind. Sure there were plenty of people crying out from dying but this one was too close for comfort. As she looked behind her it appeared that the man died from fire. Perhaps someone missed her, she sure was lucky today. With that thought she attached herself back into the darkness and began to work through the intricate maze of walls, trying to find someone familiar.

After he was back onto his feet, he shook his protected head and shot Elibe a dirty look, which was returned with an equally dirty snort and squinted eyes," No no, don't apologize! Lord Torien? Ha! Back then I was just a farmboy turned recruit fresh out of training in Laus! Just call me Rayl, no sense being so formal." that and he wasn't really too up to talking about the Bandit War, though when she started speaking about her step son in the past tense he opened his mouth to say something, but paused as he heard a faint sound...maybe it was just his 'valiant dismount' echoing throughout out, but it didn't seem to be it...
He looked over his shoulder as Elibe rode up alongside him as they both scanned the area about, before he returned his focus to Tara," Told? I can assume he-" he hesitated and decided again not to approach that particular topic, fearing that his guess what most likely correct.

Tara looked about searching for the source of the noise. She hoped the others were okay. She didn't really know what she would do if they were attacked; she wouldn't be much help. Tara supposed she could try, but she would most likely just get in Rayl's way. Her hand drifted towards her sword, just as a precaution. Rayl started at ask about her past, and her grip tightened.
"Yes. He is dead. As is my lord husband. I was married to a duke twice my age..." She thought about tell Rayl the whole story, but didn't want to bore him. Or get a bad first impression, though she knew any name he could call her would be true. "A rival duke attacked the estate one night. Luth, my... stepson, helped me escape, but he did not make it. I think I may have been the only one who did. The duke who killed my husband... Lord Hubert, I think he is called, occasionally sends assassins after me. It is how I joined this group; they helped me fend off a batch."
Tara paused for a moment, and then asked, "did that bore you? I should really just stick to the basics. I think I saw something move over there..."

Jya disappeared into the darkness and Calvin focused his attention to Valorian. He didn’t follow Val along the path but rather watched from afar, it looked like he was listening to something, Calvin couldn’t quite make it out from his distance. However he suddenly heard screams and clashing of metal, unsure of what it was he started to make his way towards the massacre. Thankfully before he saw something too emotionally scarred Valorian pushed back Isabel who almost bumped into Calvin, yelling at them to move. Calvin’s eyes broadened as he noticed how close to an injury they were, he glanced at the sniper then back to Valorian as he chanted a powerful spell and burned the sniper. Calvin’s heart was pounding, he had no idea what was going on the heat of the battle was intense and Calvin was starting to sweat and worry. Valorian told them to hide but Calvin was having trouble moving off his feet.
Isabel the prodigy was unlike Calvin, quick to react and respond. As soon as she mentioned Rayl Calvin snapped back into reality, he felt reassured that Rayl and Tara would come and save the day. All they had to do was signal them, and then Calvin had an idea. Isabel demanded his notepad and he removed it from his bag in seconds before tossing it at Isabel, then grabbing her wrist.
“Alright, but come with me! Let’s get rayl”
He dragged Isabel back towards the window they had entered, released her and leapt onto the window sill. Grabbing onto the arch with one hand to support him, he leaned out the window and removed his flute from his bag. He pulled it to his mouth and blew fiercely, releasing a sharp tone, an ear piercing screech, it was sure to attract attention but the only person who didn’t know they were here was Rayl.
“I sure hope the others can hear this…”
Calvin said to Isabel before screeching into the flute again.

Valorian wanted to resist Isabel pulling him, but he found himself lacking the strength at the moment. When they'd reached the room, he stood up to try and stop the room from spinning. Magic shouldn't be taking this much out of him... When he heard Calvin's flute screeched, he knew the noise would travel to Rayl. With any luck the Paladin would realize that the only reason they would make so much noise would be if they needed help.
"Let me...GO." He commanded at Isabel, throwing her off again. "I'm not letting people die because of me being weak. Not now...not again." He shuddered. "I'm going out there, and if you try to stop me again I'll make you wish you hadn't." He said. He wasn't wearing a caring expression anymore, his eyes were hard and grim. Those were the eyes of a monster, not a boy.
Without waiting for anyone to respond he exited into the hallway, but this time keeping to the outside to try and avoid attention as he looked about the fortress. As he moved, he adjusted the fabric of his right sleeve to cover his arm a bit more.
He moved about the edges, trying to get a better idea on what was going on currently, and where Jya was.

Jya wasn't sure how far she ran and for how long. The area felt vaguely familar as she turned corners after corners. She was no longer looking for the others, instead she was trying to get away from any enemies in the vicinity. Her eyes darted from one side of the room to the other. When she heard shouts coming from behind, she dove into the closest room possible. It appeared to be an old storage room, lightly furnished, well once lightly furnished. Now everything laid broken in pieces. She hid herself under some dusty covers.

Isabel raised her eyebrow, first at Calvin (who, yes, had handed her his notebook, then then proceeded to jump up and begin playing his music, which could signal Rayl... And any enemies who might be listening), and then at Valorian as the priest left. Isabel didn't stop him; if he wanted to go back out there and risk being impaled by the wyvern rider, who was she to stop him? Suicidal priest... If we make it out of this alive, I'm going to have to have a word with you. Isabel thought with a grim smile. She then turned to Calvin. "You didn't happen to pick up any rope back at town, did you? Ah, no matter." she sighed. "All right, Calvin, move it or lose it!"
And then, not waiting for the bard to move, Isabel took two steps toward the window, looked down, turned, and then began to go down the wall once more, as quickly as she dared to go down the crumbling wall. She glanced down after a half a minute, and then dropped down the four feet to the ground. The impact jarred her, and she wished she could sit for a few minutes and rest, but the pupil forced herself up, running to get Rayl and Tara. She became winded after getting three-quarters of the way there, and fell to the ground not a second later. She laid there, panting for breath. "Well... That went... Well..." she muttered in between breaths.

Rayl listened intently to her story, nodding one when she was done," Why would your past bore me? If anything it's something to think about in context but we'd best investiga-" There was the faint sound of a flute that carried over from some distant part of the fort, and almost in a flash Rayl leaped up and onto Elibe's Saddle and the two wordlessly charged off in the direction of the sound...A bard as skilled as Calvin would not play a note like that intentionally. Something was wrong, it must have had something to do with what he thought was the sounds of battle (well the sounds not in his head.).
It didn't take the horse and rider duo long to find the incapacitated Isabel, and the armored knight jumped from the saddle and knelt beside her to check for injuries (not like he had anything on him to treat her if she did...) before reaching down and picking her up," Isabel, right? What happened?!" Of course while he was saying this he looked back to Tara before back down to her with intent.

Isabel's panting subsided as her breath returned to her, and after a long ten seconds, she rolled over, supporting her weight on her elbows. She stared up at Rayl, barely comprehending his words. After another five seconds, she responded. "Of course... I'm Isabel... Hah." she said with a half-hearted grin. "What's going on...? Fighting... Sexual awkwardness... But mostly fighting. Valorian almost got himself impaled by a particularly pissed wyvern rider..." Isabel groaned as she began to stand herself back up. Her legs groaned in protest, not looking forward to holding her weight again so soon after that little bit of exertion.
Isabel looked back to the fort, her face becoming rather grim, although a smile tugged at her lips. "I am a prodigy, my dear knight. I must learn from anything and everything that comes my way... And so I will go and help my new friends with you. With my magical talents and your mundane strength, we will, as I heard my mentor say once, kick those block heads to the curb."

Tara got off of Elibe and smoothed out her skirt. She stopped, thinking about how ridiculous she must have just looked. Dusting one's self off in the middle of a crisis, on verge of battle? The was still too much of a lady in Tara to be fit of fighting... Pushing the matter from her mind, she put her hand to her sword, readying herself for anything that might happen. She walked up to Isabel and said, "we do all know how skilled you can be at magic, Isabel, but you must be on your guard. I am hardly one to talk of strength, but you should stay behind me if we are attacked."
Tara brushed back a lock of hair from her face and walked forward. She looked up to the fort that Isabel just came out of and asked, "So, where is Calvin? Rayl and I both came at the sound of his flute... is he alright?"
