Derick watched in admiration as Cefia cleaved the queen's head open. Blood and brains spattered everywhere...Derick's admiration was dampened by disgust as the smell set in, but he still clapped when the beast lay still.
"We must hurry and get out of here," with that, she took off through the rubble, still limping. "I'm right behind you," Derick said, becoming aware of the chorus of skitters entering the room. He started to follow behind her, but stopped as if forgetting something...his lance! Derick raced back to the queen's body and gave his lance a mighty pull. It dislodged from the queen's head with a moist plunging noise, and Derick scurried after Cefia.

The maze wasn't as bad as it appeared. The rocks lessened up the farther they got away from the center. She couldn't help but lighten up as it appeared that they will soon get out there. Not a moment too soon either, the sound of the scorpions was quite alarming. The big one was definitely a big player of some kind. They really can't stay for long now.
"I think I see some light," she stated, looking out into the distance. The torch had long been abandoned after running out of usefulness. However luck seem to smile upon them as she saw small pockets of light or lighter area appear.

Derick smiled as pockets of light began to appear in the cavern. Better yet, the sound of scorpions halted, evidently the sunlight terrified them. ..it was about time they had a stroke of good luck. They traveled a bit further, and a ray of pure sunlight could be seen around the corner ahead. "Cefia! There's daylight! Let's go!" Derick exclaimed cheerfully as he offered his good hand to her.
They broke around the corner, and Derick found himself in excruciating pain once again. The broad morning sunlight was reflecting off of...something. The intensity of the light was too much for Derick's mal-adjusted eyes to bear, he tripped and fell to his knees as he tightly shut his eyes. "...At least it's day time." He said a little miserably as he rubbed his eyes.

Cefia was frightened that they might run straight into a sandstorm but at last it was not to be. She burst forward into the light, just as blinded as Derick. It was going to take a few minutes for her eyes to adjust but she was so very thankful for the heat. From their adventure in the cave, it was safe to conclude that they had went through the night. It was so difficult to determine when you're trapped in darkness.
She let out a chuckle that grew to a laugh. With the built up stress she fell over onto her butt. It was a killer workout to say the least and she was now feeling the full blunt of it. Her body was exhausted as she struggled to breath for a bit. Her body seemed to refuse to move. They had to rest before they continue on their little expedition.
"That was quite an adventure...eh?" she said, still half laughing. Man she was tired and it won't be long until she pass out from the exhaustion.
