After Dee fell off, Vashnar helped the young magic user back on her feet. [Purple] She can't handle herself in a fight, but she sure can talk back [/Purple] he thought as he then laughed a bit. People around them started to look at them funny; most travelers that come here are either Etrurians or much older, and these children sure seem like a little green. Some are wondering if the little rag tag group is a family traveling, and the man with the two kids are their guardian but quickly discard it after they see the many different features each one has.
"Well, if you're fine you can walk by yourself now" he told her as he just walked on without her. Looking around, he took in the surroundings and the people in town. Most of the merchants were either Etrurians themselves or were either selling goods from Etruria. Most the shops are either pottery or spices, with a little mix of fish and vegtable stands. Disappointed, Vashnar kept on walking until he reached the end of the street when he finally found a blacksmith's shop. Happy, Vashnar headed over in the direction of the shop.

Cefia tugged at her axes to make sure they were secure before reaching into the large sack over her shoulders. She really didn't mind lugging the thing around besides she preferred to be in control of the supplies and expenses. Perhaps it was her merchant side being picky but that was how it was.
When she felt that the area was clear enough, she reached into her secret pocket and pulled out her monocle. It was still safe even after all the things she had been through. With that she plopped it on and secured it as much as possible before taking out a book to read through. People warned about reading and walking. It was a bit annoying as people stared at her again. Sometimes she hated her height but at least it made it easier to make sure she didn't bump into anyone, except kids.

Sabin noticed people staring at them strangely. Were these kids for real? Dee may be just a kid, but she could walk just fine, and pampering her was not a good idea. Pampered kids turned out to be brats, and brats turned out to be a pain in the wrong spot. Better not let them be that way.
"So Vashnar, we'll first enter this blacksmith place... and then, we're going out to the shop to buy any other equipment we require. Well, that's the plan, for now, obviously." Sabin said as they entered the blacksmith shop. Hrm, maybe it was time to buy new gauntlets... or some new armor in any case. His old clothes were a little risky to wear if he was going to get into anymore battles...
Perhaps they'd not run into any new people... not that Sabin didn't want to interact with new people. but he got a feeling was going to get into something dangerous, and involving people in it may not be a good idea...

Dee was still rubbing her behind, now it was starting to hurt a little less. She wasn't really paying attention to where she was going, just following Sabin and Vashie's legs. Someone else's legs appeared randomly walking the other direction.
[white]"Oof!"[/white] Dee exclaimed as she ran into the new pair of legs. [white]"Sorry..."[/white] she looked up to see a young woman wearing a monocle while reading a book. Dee squinted to see what it was she was reading, but couldn't quite make it out.
[white]"Hey lady, where'd you get that book?"[/white] she needed to know where she could get more books after she had to abandon hers in Bern.

A man wrapped in a black hooded robe watched the ships as they came into port. He was seated on a stack of crates outside a midsized barn beginning to show its exposure to the elements. He hardly stood out. People sat up and down the docks, fishing, unloading things, and, like him, just waiting. He was alone though.
He saw the whole scene play out. The governor and his men coming aboard, the arrests, a man in a fine red coat and garb of matching quality in particular stood out,... and more. A package being shipped from Bern to the Isles. While the excitement on the deck was going on, he watched it brought forward by someone. Watched it change hands until coming into the grip of that pompous politician's grip. The man was interfering with things that would crush him, and for what? Did he get his kicks from throwing his weight around on an island full of lawless thugs and slaves? Did he think that he wouldn't suffer retaliation? Did he honestly think he would live?
The black hooded man's interest in the ship waned drastically once the Governor and his entourage debarked. The only thing it had going for it still was that there were a number of new arrivals. Some of them carried the look of the place. Others couldn't stand out more if they tried.
"Perhaps...." He said out loud, deciding that they could know something of what had gone on. Perhaps they had some knowledge he was looking for. He would tail them a ways, blending with the people heading to the markets. Then he would make himself known.

Derick walked beside Cefia as she pulled on of her books out of their supply pack and started reading. He had asked if he could take a turn at carrying the pack only to receive a dirty look from Cefia. He had left the matter alone since then. She continued reading, her gaze lifted mechanically from her literature and scanned their path for obstacles as they walked. As they reached town Derick reached out and tapped her lightly on the shoulder. "I'm going to go to the markets, there's some things I need to get." Weapons, more specifically, but she seemed to distracted to give it much thought anyways, indeed, perhaps she'd be glad to be rid of him for a short while..."Meet you back here!" Derick said cheerfully before running off.
The markets were packed! The people wandering the stalls seemed to be a diverse cross-section of the people of Elibe. There were the fabled clothes of the Sacaen clans people, the wild furs of the Western Isle locals, Derick even recognized some people wearing clothing from back home! It was impressive to say the least. The stalls were selling all sorts of goods, Derick was taken aback at how many stalls were selling fish, and how different each fish looked! After 5 minutes of blind travel and wonder, Derick finally came to the stalls he had been looking for.
There was an incredible range of weaponry among the stalls. Swords, axes, bows, and lances of all different shapes and sizes. Derick steered clear of the stalls with extravagant weapons, he had a small budget. After several naive conversations and threats from stall keepers, Derick had managed to obtain a javelin, a weapon he had wanted to procure since using one in training. The merchant had eagerly thrown in a horseslayer too...but judging from the stall keeper's behavior and the weapon's condition, he had probably just wanted to get rid of it.
Still, Derick couldn't help but smile as he made his way down the street, he twirled his new javelin cheerfully, but its motion was promptly halted as the shaft struck a gruff-looking man with a black beard in the back of the head. "Woah! I'm sorry!" Idiot, Derick cursed himself, cringing a little bit. He turned to face the man...he was armed...with axes, no less. Fantastic, Derick thought sarcastically as he slumped a little bit. His eyes fully took in the man's appearance, he was dressed remarkably like Cefia...and with those weapons. "Say...You wouldn't happen to be a pirate, would you?..." Perhaps Derick could get Cefia some information, help her out.

Cefia was doing quite well avoiding whatever came her way. There weren't all that many people around. As Derick excused himself, she replied with a half-hearted be careful before continuing in on. The street were pleasant enough, quite tame compared to some other cities she had visited.
When she bumped into something, she stopped and closed her book. Before her was a young girl and it did make her feel bad for bumping into her. Her smallness didn't help either. As she asked about her book, Cefia wasn't sure how to respond. Most people weren't interested in books, especially around the Western Isles.
"I bought it in a town in Nabata," she said, it was right before they had left on the ship here. She had devoured the book in what little free time she encountered and even managed to reread it a few times.
"If you want it, I can sell it to you, I have some other books as well," she shrugged, shifting her sack. She certainly wasn't treating the little girl like a child but she was never a gentle person like that or rather she never learned to be.

Sabin went inside the armoury along with Vashnar, and saw a young man with blonde hair buying something. Sabin crossed his arms and watched as the blonde man bought something resembling a spear... a javelin, huh? Who was this guy, another Etrurian soldier? Sabin's blood began to boil at that thought.
Then the man came about, twirling his lance, and he hit Sabin at the back of his head. Now normally one would think it was an accident, but Sabin's mood was not a pleasant thing at the moment. Especially since he thought the blonde haired man was an Etrurian. He just knew it, this guy was trying to provoke him. "Blasted Etrurians, those filthy scum! They should all just runa away from here, run away!" Sabin thought as his eyes widened, now angry.
He was not about to let this guys get away. He had hit Sabin, and he did it on purpose. Time to threaten him.
"Hey punk, what do you think you're doing? Trying to harm more sailors, huh? You think people are wood plates to thrust your spear at?" Sabin asked, his look very intimidating.
" You want to know if I'm a pirate or not? You're just like the rest of them, soldier. You'll bribe anyone and everyone to do that dirty work." Sabin spat, now glaring at the young man.

The tall lady seemed nice enough. Pretty too, pretty ladies were always a good sign. They were generally nicer to Dee than guys were. Dee was unsure about why someone would buy books from Nabata though. [white]"Aw, I don't have any money..."[/white] she whined.
Dee thought that the lady probably wouldn't even have books she would want anyways. It didn't hurt to ask though. [white]"Are any of your books on magic? I could get some money from a friend of mine..."[/white] Yes, Sabin or Vashie would lend her some money. If he didn't, she would whine about it in his ear until he did.

Cefia glanced down on the girl and thought about it. She had no spell books but she did have quite a few books on magic theories and history. At her early childhood she had even thought of becoming a mage or some magic user, however such dreams vanished in her adolescent stage.
"No spell books lass, but I do have a few books on different subjects regarding magic," she said, digging into her bag. She took out a worn hard bound book. It was relatively hefty and new but she had read it a few times. She read it a year or two back and reread it when she found it again.
"I don't mind breaking even, got any friends that can pay for it, that is if you're still interested," she stated looking at the book on a quick overview of fire magic.

Derick started to move away, assuming the blow had gone unnoticed, when the man began chasing him. I guess I deserve this... Derick looked a little downcast as the man confronted him. The gruff man ranted and shouted, traces of spittle flew out of his mouth, it seemed he was in a genuine frenzy. But his accusations were wild, even for someone who had just been hit. Trying to hurt more sailors? Target practice? Bribes?
"No no no no no!" Derick shook his head and waved the accusations away with his ruined right hand. "I don't know what you're on about...but I just got here!" Derick gestured over his shoulder to the port. "And besides," Derick said, lowering his voice a touch, "I'm a mercenary."

Hahaha.... How appropriate. The dark robed traveler spotted the brief altercation caused by the clumsy lance fighter. He couldn't say he was surprised to see the pirate brute upset. This was the way of pirates and mercenaries, after all. He considered watching and waiting more before making himself known, but the sort of available introduction here wasn't going to come again.
Lengthening his stride, he picked up the pace a bit to catch up to them.
"Good afternoon, Gentlemen. Is there a problem that needs attending to here?" He pushed his hood back as he finished his approach, revealing his black hair, with shocks of white shooting through it in a few places. He wore a slightly amused expression as he strode up, as though he was without a care in the world, but it just as easily felt like a poker face.

After a few moments of arguing with the store owner and setting a suitable price, the owner set to work on repairing Vashnar's armor. Instead of making an entirely new suit, and owner took heated sheets of metal and pounded them into the damaged spaces, before pouring heated metal on them to restore the thinkness of the suit. After about half an hour of that (and a couple coats of paint later), Vashnar's armor was fixed and good as new.
Exiting the store, Vashnar saw two things happening; Sabin yelling at a soldier, and Dee talking to what looked like a pirate about books. [purple] Sabin can take care of himself, so I should keep an eye on Dee [/purple] He thought to himself, and proceed to walk over to her, while praying to whatever God there is to hope Sabin doesn't end up cutting their trip to the Western Isles short. [purple] "I see you've managed to find something on this trip, and I suspect you need assistance?" [/purple] he told Dee before addressing the Woman. [purple] "Please excuse my rudeness. I'm a companion of this girl here and I'll pay for whatever she wants to purchase" [/purple] he told the woman before slighty bowing.

Sabin scratched his bear and calmed down as he listened to what the blonde boy had to say for himself. His reaction quite pleased Sabin, got rid of his suspicion. So he wasn't an Etrurian soldier, but what was with the weird armor? Then again, the soldiers at the ship didn't wear the same armor, so this guy was probably a weird... knight guy like Vashnar? And he called himself a mercenary, but he looked real young. What was this guy up to?
" Sorry 'bout accusing you like that. Things have gone a bit weird lately, here in the Western Isles. Its difficult times I say, difficult times." Sabin said softly, trying not to attract any attention.
"A mercenary, eh? You look too young ter be one, fella. What's with the armor? And... why are people like ye lookin' fer pirates?" Sabin asked, raising his right eyebrow.
Then he noticed a hooded man interrupt there conversation. " You seem ter like gossip, hooded man." he said, narrowing his eyes to look like he was suspecting the guy of something.

Dee looked to Vashie approaching. [white]"Oh, I was thinking about Sabin, actually. Could you buy me this magic book? It'd be good for my studies..."[/white]
A book on basic anima magic, eh? It wouldn't be likely that she would be able to use any of it without practice. A LOT of practice. She didn't even practice her light magic enough as it was.
Still, this was a good opportunity to learn more about magic. If there was any way she'd be able to revive her parents, it would be through magic. You had to start somewhere, maybe looking through every single book she found wasn't the right way to go. Perhaps she should be actually learning the basics of magic instead of skipping to what many people had not discovered themselves.
