Gabriel's true colors

Since I have some free time I decided to write this up for you all. I hate having to drop Gabriel's story just like that, but I simply can't keep up with the RPing. So here's some compensation for that. Here's what Gabriel's story would have been like, had I been able to continue RPing. Not to the letter, of course. This isn't a single-player game, and many things wouldn't have happened exactly like I envisioned them in the first place. But at least you'll be able to make out why Gabriel has acted kind of like he has so far.
Gabriel being chased out of Delfia(Etruria's capital city) was a ruse. At least in part. While it is true that Kraft has oppressed many in his time, it is also true that crime in Etruria plunged to an all-time low. Gabriel does not despise him for this, and actually applauds Kraft for being able to keep such a big nation in check. He, however, despised his ways. Gabriel's plan, from the beginning, was to see what the world outside was like, as books could only tell you so much, and would lie to you as any other person would. He had to find a way to leave Etruria.
However, being the son of the head mage of Etruria's court made it impossible for him to do so. Richard became head of the mages not long after Kraft rose to power, and ever since the entire Waltz family has been respected for their magical powers. This also explains why Gabriel has been, at least so far, able to cope with high level magic at such an early age. He accidentally killed one of his schoolmates while in class, using a Thunder spell at roughly age six, and has ever since been taught at home, to avoid another such incident. He managed to make decent use of the Elfire spell(though it took burning his hand to hell and back in the process, as Rob might remember), and would potentially be able to use any other spell, given enough time.
Back to the point, Gabriel started being distant to his father in an attempt to have him doubt his son, something that eventually happened once Gabriel dissed Kraft in a public place. Richard, as punishment, tried to send Gabriel to the dungeons outside the city for a night, and Gabriel took the chance to take out the unsuspecting guards with a Fire spell and ran towards the border of Etruria. He wanted to see with his own eyes how the world outside fared, and to find out if it was possible to maintain order without using Kraft's questionable methods.
From what he had heard over meetings his father had in his house, war with other countries was imminent, if it hadn't started already. At first, Gabriel decided to watch the conflict from afar. He decided that Ostia was a good place as any to do so, but in the end made way for Ilia, as he would have companions to travel with that way.
Ilia seemed completely disconnected from the rest of the world, and from what he could gather, they liked it that way. Not quite the place he was looking for. Mercenaries abound, "law" made by the current strongest, which is something that fluctuated just as much as the population, adventurers coming and going every week.
Eventually he met Rayl at the border of Sacae and Ilia, and would find his way to Pherae, and become part of it's army. As a whole, however, Lycia wasn't without it's problems, but Gabriel pressed on. If he could unite the entire world against Etruria while maintaining order and peace throughout the union, then it meant that Kraft's methods weren't necessary for the world to thrive. Were it to fail, however, he himself would spread Kraft's reign to the entire world.
Basically, Gabriel would try to achieve order through any means available, while giving preference to the least oppressive method. Given how things were turning out, Gabriel would have ended either on Kraft's side, or attempting to overthrow him and making his father the leader of Etruria, while still following Kraft's plan and execution. Shortly before I left, I was planning to have Gabriel give up his hopes of world order through peace and have him overthrow Pherae in the name of Kraft, and have him rejoin Etruria.
As I said at the beginning of the arc, while I had a story planned, I decided to let the story mold Gabriel and not the other way around. Otherwise he wouldn't probably have even made it to Pherae, and instead had joined Etruria in bringing Ostia down, as I had originally planned. But what I wrote above seemed to be the path he would ultimately follow, given the direction of the plot.
Hope you enjoyed(?) the read. It's the least I could do after leaving things up in the air like I did.
