Aurek stared at the woman holding his arm. Although she wasn't yelling at him just yet, he could tell she was getting close. And with that menacing glare, Aurek would have been hiding in fear. If the food wasn't so amazing. After eating out of garbage piles and taking whatever he could find, such a spread was a gift from the gods. Now if only he could get away from this lady. She had an incredibly strong grip though. "Curses!" he muttered under his breath. The plan had been to just take food as he perused the table. Aurek didn't really want to sit down and order. He was there to grab food and split. Losing all the food he had originally eaten had interrupted the plan. Granted, getting to eat even more was a thrilling prospect. This woman though... she was in the way.
"Just let me go, woman. I don't really care if no one is acting the way I am. I do what I want when I want. Yes, yes. This is a very special occasion. All the people of the land have put aside their differences blah, blah, blah. Yet when we all return tomorrow there will be more starving and dying. And I for one am preparing for tomorrow. This little magic castle is wonderful, and you can enjoy this party to it's fullest. I'm going to grab what I can and get as far away as possible."
He tried to pull away again but failed miserably. Giving up on a useless effort, he began grabbing food with his other hand and shoving it into pockets on the inside of his cloak.

Mel poked her head up sleepily from under the table from which she had been napping. It had been a long while since she had arrived and seeing as not many people had been about she had lain under the table to take a quick nap. Yet the sound of voices slowly started to rouse her from her nap and she sat up quickly the top of her head colliding with the underside of the table with a loud thump.
She grit her teeth letting out a soft hiss of pain. It hurt! Pain was painful when unexpected. One hand rubbing the new lump atop her head she crawled out from under the table and onto a chair staring around dazed the dull gray hair poking up in every which way almost seeming to defy the very law of gravity.
It had filled up rather quickly while she slumbered, various people seated about. Originally she had planned and coming to nab anything worthwhile from one of the other attendees. The security at the door had put her at unease though, wiping any plans of theft right from her mind. Yet free food did sound better than a simple waste of time so she had decided to stay if only slightly longer.
A small scuffle of sorts caught her eye and she immediately glanced over a smirk growing on her lips at the sight. Some decrepit old fogy was hoarding food into the pockets of his cloak as a tall blond looked down in displeasure. It seemed the scruffy banquet was not as boring as she had originally anticipated.
Slowly she slipped back under the table and crawled towards the pair an amusing idea running across her mind. Snickering softly she stared at the geezer's cloak a pair of blue eyes twinkling merrily as she reached out starting to pull the food out from the pockets carefully and setting them on the floor beside her in a neat pile. As much as she hated her comically lacking height there were little moments when it was useful.

Derick leaned back in his chair, testing the unrestrained feel of his armor and nodding in satisfaction. He started when the rose-haired Nihlus addressed him. "Wha--Oh. Hi Nihlus!..." Derick's eyes scanned the table, a lot of people had arrived at all once. "...and everyone else. My name's Derick." Half of the people probably wouldn't even hear him, but it couldn't hurt to at least throw his name out there. With a shrug, Derick directed his attention back to Nihlus. "Where are you from, Nihlus? I'm guessing from your clothing that you're a student of sorts..." Derick smiled amiably, he wasn't the best at small talk, but he was always sincere.
The plate bumped up from the table with a bang, causing Derick to jump. He nearly slammed his fist onto the plate out of reflex, but caught himself just inches from the fine porcelain. "What was that...?...Excuse me," Derick nodded to Nihlus and then unobtrusively leaned over, effectively ducking out of the conflict between Clair and the wizened man who had joined them. Derick slid his hand under the tablecloth and slowly lifted the fabric to avoid the attention of others. It was surprisingly dark underneath the table; Derick had to squint to make out anything. He jerked as he spied a silhouetted figure and cursed softly under his breath as the back of his head made solid contact with the underside of the table. "Is someone there?" Derick's voice was a raspy whisper.

OoC: My gosh! Are we using two different tables, or are we ditching the idea? ;/ Let's just ditch it from now on....
BiC:
Her glare towards the invading old man softened a bit. Just a little. Some sympathy was there. Not for him specifically, but because what he'd said had struck a nerve of sorts. Today they were all brought together. It was as if by magic. She hated magic, but could put up with it if it resulted in something like this. Tomorrow though, would return to what they all knew, and feared, and hated. War and violence would revive themselves.
This day is not over yet though. She said, steeling herself and locking in a memory of this day. This is what she fought for. A day when everyone could come together in peace. Perhaps not everyone would get along, but certainly war wouldn't be needed anymore....
"You're right. Tomorrow will come, and all of its hardships will return." Clair said, looking up at the bearded man. "But for today, I will live in harmony with the people around me, and be proud to tell the tale to those who will listen some day."
The words came out with pride and control as she spoke them. She released his arm, and straightened in her seat. She reached out and picked up the cup of tea she'd been provided, keeping her eyes on him the entire time.
"Now you can calm yourself down and join us for the banquet, or you can feel free to help yourself to another table." She took a sip, still watching him. The taste went unnoticed, as he mind was occupied with the food hoarding old man. She shifted in her seat slightly to face him, knees tilting a bit as well to match her orientation. She would have loved to have her lance resting at her side. Not for use on annoying, food snatching invaders, but simply because it was so integral to her. Instead, she tried to distract herself of its absence by straightening her skirt over her hips, and placing a napkin there. It didn't help much.

As the woman let go of his arm, Aurek stopped stuffing food into his cloak. He turned and stared at her for a bit. "You... you seem uncomfortable for someone who acts like they have authority. Something... something is definitely missing from your personage. Could it perhaps be your pegasus? Or maybe even your lance? Yes, I recognize your armor as one of those falcoknights of Ilia. You with your soaring mount will probably make it out of this place alive. But how many bandits do you think are attending this thing? Do you think they came just for the party? No, I can guarantee they are also here to cause problems for people on the way back. And who's going to protect everyone? You? Highly doubtful."
Aurek paused for a moment then suddenly dropped to the ground. He found himself face to face with a small girl. "Hey, thief," he said with a look of disdain. Grabbing her outstretched arm that was inside his cloak, he hauled her out from underneath the table. "Go steal your own food. These are my spoils." He let her arm go and stared menacingly. Well, what he thought was menacing. It looked more like he was constipated though. Which was probably true, not that Aurek would admit.

Sammi stared at the two who were going back and forth at each other. Clair had been trying to end the argument but the older man kept on bringing it up. Clair was right that we should just enjoy the banquet today and return to our normal lives tommorrow. She felt weird without her bow and arrows as well but she hoped they were safe with the man who took them when she arrived.
She knew she should'nt really be taking anyone's side in the argument, but she was getting annoyed.
"Alright," she said to the man. "Just stop. If you're here attending the banquet, you either came to support the idea of peace between the people of Elibe or you just came for the free food. If it's the latter, i suggest you sit down and enjoy it and leave the others alone. And if its theives that bother you, go to another table." Then as quickly as her moment of athority came, it went as the man glared at her. She really had no place in this, but she wanted to stick up for Clair who had been so nice to her since the start of the banquet.

Seeing as he was acknowledged before they resumed their conversations, Vashnar took a seat near Derick but didn't talk to him. The soldier was busy adjusting his to notice. [white]Oh well,[/white] he thought to himself [white]Maybe something interesting while happen. I'm certainly not going anywhere.[/white]
Over the course of the night, more people gathered around, such as a kid Nihlus; who Vashnar greeted silently with a nod of his head. When the food arrived, Vashnar was astounded. Food like this he only saw when he began his training with an retired general of Bern. The cheese from Etruria had a sweet tang to it, and the Chicken from Ilia was superb. But out of all of the foods Vashnar had a reasonable portion of; it was the Fried Lizard from the desert lands of Nabata that Vashnar found amazing. The skin was softened from being fried, and exotic spices where rubbed on before being heated over a slow flame to where it can be easily broken so one can pick out the bones. Having eaten three of the reptilian treat, Vashnar wondered if it would be rude to ask the other guests for their lizards.
As others were talking and eating (not at the same time), a haggard looking man just plowed through to the table where they were sitting at, devouring food like a score of pigs when they get food. When one of the guests started to scowl at the mans behavior, he justified his manners with problems that will arise when the banquet is over. When the two finished their conversation, the man them preceded to drag a familiar thief with a pair of pointed ears out from underneath the table. Grumbling to himself, Vashnar stood up and came over to where Mel was with a stack of food taken from the man. [white]"I'm sorry for intruding on this, but I happen to know her."[/white] He quickly explained to the two before turning to Mel. Hoisting her up, Vashnar lightly bopped Mel on the head before chewing her out. [white]"Really? You're pickpocketing someone of their food when we're at a banquet? Why is it that wherever you are, someone is missing something or knocked overboard. How about you find yourself an apple, sit down in a chair, and not steal from anyone. How about that?"[/white] he asked before adding [white]"AND you apologize to this man for taking his food.[/white]

Nihlus stopped his rapid devouring of food when the blonde man from across the table had said something to him. The rose haired boy almost complete forgot about that guy. He then swallowed the food that was chewed up in his mouth and put on a smile. "Hey there Derrick it's nice too met ya!" He said with a bit of food stuck in between his teeth. Nihlus took a few more bites of his food before going to answer Derrick's question. "I'm from Lycia and I was the student of the great Inell," Nihlus continued to eat his food which tasted better each bite he took. He then took a sip of one of the juices and couldn't believe how good it tasted. Whatever the juice was it didn't last long as Nihlus guzzled it down quickly. The boy wasted no time going back to his food.
He looked over to see the old guy and the blonde lady still going at it. Geez was this guy always this serious? Man what a party-pooper. Nihlus then got out of his chair and then stood on it with one leg on the table. "Hey old guy stealing people's food! Nihlus shouted from where he was at pointing a fork at the older man, he still had food in his mouth. "Shut up and go be a jerk somewhere else people are trying to enjoy this nice banquet here and you're ruining it so either go sit down and be old somewhere else or I'll go over there and show ya a thing or two with this fork!" Fire burned in his scarlet eyes has he said that and twirled the fork around in his fingers. He found it a bit ironic that someone was trying to steal food from him.

"If you want I could take you riding after everything is over here." Labelle spoke with excitement, she had made at least one or two new friends already.
When the older man had arrived just grabbing and shoveling anything in sight into his mouth Labelle was ready to say something till Clair had stopped him. It was a good thing that Clair had got to him first, Labelle would have probably decked him, she had dealt with grab happy men before normally it started with shoveling food into their mouth but it then would lead to a handful of her rear-end. "There may be some dishonest people here but at the same time think about how many honest people that wouldn't put up with that sort of idea."
Labelle was furious at what the old man had done next, what a dirty despicable old man this was. First he started to shovel anything and anything into his mouth and pockets and now he was trying to look up their dresses and skirts. Labelle had shot up knocking her chair over, even though it wasn't a problem for her since her dress went well past her knees but there maybe others who didn't have such a long dress."WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING PERV!" Labelle took back what she had thought earlier, this man was much worse than the drunks that she had dealt with at the tavern.

Clair didn't speak right away as the older man spoke. It was true that she wished she had the tools of her trade here, but it wasn't as big an issue as he seemed to think. The weapons didn't make her. For honest skill and experience this was never the case. Instead, she made the weapons what they were: Deadly. And she happened to be sitting right next to where he stood. She contemplated taking a knee out as he continued right on in his ways, but figured he might crack his head on the table and die.... He was only trying to pester her. She could deal with this one without violence....
Before she could respond several other happenings occurred. Sammi leaping to her defense was heartwarming to Clair. They'd just met, but she actually found the courage to step up and add her voice to the falcoknight's. More food thieves cropping up didn't thrill her, but she did find it amusing that someone would actually attempt to pickpocket food from the thief. Somewhere nearby, a pinkhaired kid was starting to make a scene, the thief kid was attracting attention, and this old guy was causing enough trouble. Trouble she really didn't care to waste her time on.
She waved down the attention of one of the waiters, and turned back to the troublesome man.
"If need be, I'll slay every bandit who thinks he can prey on those leaving here myself, and there are more than enough mighty souls here to stand with me if that time should come." Marcus was one such ally. And she was certain that there were plenty more who would take action with her.
"I think you've blown your chance here though. You've shown this company to be too good for you. Even the countless brigands and thieves which are no doubt here know enough to keep disrupting others,... but as you said, you do what you want, when you want." There was a touch of a smirk lining her lips as she repeated his own words back to him. The whole thing was a bother, but she had given him a chance to change his ways, and join them. Just because she'd given him one chance, didn't mean she had infinite patience to deal with the matter.

As Aurek was getting up after pulling the thief out from under the table, he heard a woman scream something about a perv. He decided to ignore that one. There was too much talking and yelling for Aurek's tastes at this point. As soon as he released the girl who released his goods, a man came over and apologized for her. Apparently, he was going to make her apologize. "It's fine," Aurek stated brusquely.
After silencing some upstart girl with a glare, Aurek turned to the woman who hard started all this. "That's right, I do as I please. Now, if there will be no more interruptions, I'll return to what I was doing." Moving down the table, he grabbed more food and shoved it into his pockets. As he reached for a lizard, he remembered the boy yelling and brandishing the fork. Grabbing the entire lizard, he turned and whipped it at the boy. "Stick a fork in that!"
Realizing his pockets were full, Aurek stopped taking food. Turning, he walked over to a wall, sat down, leaned against it and closed his eyes. This was totally worth coming to.

As the lizard left Aurek's hand it have suddenly turned into a small amount of confetti and showered the boy. As that was going on two of the statue's eyes light up in a a golden color as the began to move towards Aurek. They stopped with only a couple of feet between them and Aurek on both sides, an ominous voice ran through his mind.
"Disruption level too high... Must leave now... If not no guaranty of safety..."
As Aurek would leave they would both walk next to his sides all the way to the door and remain there for a few minutes then return to their former resting spots, bring the shields in front of them and their sword to their chest pointing upwards while the glow in the eye sockets fades.

Aurek looked up at the two statues as the voice spoke to him. "Yeah, yeah. I know when I've outstayed my welcome." He got up slowly, checking his pockets. The food was still there. Smiling with glee, Aurek began walking toward the exit. After getting all his armor back, he picked up his lance and walked out the door, laughing uncontrollably. "I hope there is another one of these next year! I could always use more food! And lady! I promise I didn't see anything while I was under the table!" He had turned and winked at the woman who was still standing there flustered. Exiting the gold castle, he took a deep breath. Ah, it's good to be still alive. Giving one last look at the glittering behemoth he had just exited, Aurek began his slow walk to wherever he wanted to go. I bet there's no one in a nearby town. I can go have a nap there until this feast is over.

Clair's blinked as the lizard from the table literally burst into dozens of colorful little strips of paper, and showered across the table. He'd grabbed that lizard faster than she'd anticipated, and for a moment, she'd panicked that the banquet was going to devolve into chaos. The old man was definitely the cause, but the guy standing and waving his fork around would have been what tipped events into a downward spiral. This had gone on long enough. If the servers holder of the banquet didn't have something planned in case of trouble, then a bit of Feldsky enforcement would have to do.
If he's so hungry, then perhaps he won't mind eating a little dirt.... Ohh.... It turned out that there had been a back up plan for the banquet, bit it hadn't been anything she would have anticipated.
Twin golden statues approached the party crashing old man. The Falcoknight's gut clenched as she saw them. It was obvious that magic was involved now, and she doubted that it the safe kind. Even though they didn't so much as look at her or the others, she still really wished she had her thunderlance at her side now. She remained still in her seat, but it was unnaturally still. She was ready to explode into motion the moment she felt it was needed.
Nothing happened though, and after a moment, Aurek seemed to laugh off the statues' presence and leave. The golden figures followed him, and Clair relaxed, although she was still far from where she'd been before the happenings.
She said nothing for a moment, and just looked down at her plate in silence. She pushed some of the food around with a utensil, before reaching out and dipping a finger in her drink and inspecting it as she pulled it out....
"Magic. This is all nothing but magic.... This isn't what I wanted to find here....." She frowned and pushed a loose collection of hair back over her right ear. She poked the end of the fork into the Ilian chicken on her plate, and inspected it for any signs of bursting into papers.
"And those statues moved by themselves...." The frown only deepened, but it seemed to hold more. She'd assumed that at least part of the feast had been natural. It made it easier to hope for a day in the future where everyone would be able to come together on their own. Now she was on the fence about it though.

From the moment he got there and realized the food was for him he keep his face in his plate. The young Sakura only looked up once to see an old man walking out of the door.
