Name: Alexandrea Casca
Species: Humani
Class: Spell Fencer (working towards Mage Knight)
Hair Color: Dark Teal
Eye Color: Green
Age: 22
Appearance: Alexandrea is by no means someone you would expect to be skilled with a sword. Though she stands at around 5’10’, she only weighs about 135 lbs and has always been rather slender. Because she can come off as frail, she does try to stand taller in order to make her look more threatening (her slightly oversized armor helps somewhat as well in improving her stature). She is somewhat pale, though her travels are beginning to tan her skin. Her hair is not only a dark teal color, but it also goes down to the small of her back and is extremely curly. Most of the time Alexandrea keeps her hair tied back, though she does occasionally wear it fully down when not expecting a fight.
Clothes: When ready for combat, Alexandrea ties her long, curly hair back in a red cloth tie and wears a matching red head band. She wears silver and gold ornate (but extremely light) chest plate, arm bracers, and shoulder armor she took as she set out to find her brother. Being slender, she can’t wear a full set as even light armor becomes burdensome for her; however, she doesn’t mind as it’s easier for her to move quickly with her minimal armor. Under her armor she wears a dark green tunic, leather fingerless gloves, tall brown leggings, and ankle-high silver boots.
When she’s not headed for a fight, Alexandrea likes to wear loose fitting tunics of various colors that are usually belted around her waist, as well as tight-fitting leggings and tall boots. She occasionally dons a vest-styled overcoat that goes down to her knees or a dark green full length hooded cape, but she generally reserves those for when she is traveling. No matter what Alexandrea is wearing, however, she always has her sword at her side.
Born in: Lupercallia
Story: The Casca family had been a farming family for over 5 generations, and there was no reason to assume that James and Lilith Casca’s children would be any different. Even though James had served in the Lupercallian army for much of his young adult life, he always knew he would return to his rural home and rear a family there. In a small farming community in Lupercallia, the Casca’s had a family of eight, with five of them being boys and three being girls. Alexandrea Casca was the fourth of the eight children and also the twin of her sister Aurelina. All of the children were actually fairly close in age for there being eight of them, with the largest gap being 9 years and the smallest being 11 months.
Being in the middle of the pack, it was hard for Alexandrea to stand out and get a lot of attention from her parents, especially since they were so busy with running the farm and the household. The inattention from her parents was why Alexandrea came to love bedtime, as it was the one time in the day when their mother would sit down with all of the girls and tell them a bedtime story. She loved the way her mother told the stories, as well as the stories themselves. While her sisters loved hearing about the princesses being saved, Alexandrea was fascinated by the strong knights and cunning mages, always asking about their battles and fantastical powers. As a little girl her biggest dream was to one day be as important and influential as those powerful knights.
However, this dream was far from fulfilled as a small child. Her “big dreams” weren’t supported by most of her siblings, or even the other kids in the community. Whenever she said she wanted to become a great fighter, the kids laughed at her and pushed her around, especially because she was a scrawny, lanky young girl. It didn’t help that Alexandrea was extremely outspoken, and because she couldn’t keep her mouth shut she would constantly get into fights. Time and time again, too, she would lose simply because the others were bigger and stronger than her.
Alexandrea’s oldest brother, Tamriel, tried his best to defend her from the kids who were bullying her, but when he became old enough to start working the field more often he knew he wouldn’t be able to protect his sister as often as he would like. Because of this, Tamriel decided to teach Alexandrea, who was 10 at the time, how to defend herself. He started with simple fighting and dodging, helping her to use her size in order to escape their attacks. After she grasped brawling, Tamriel then moved on to teaching her something that would change her disposition forever: fencing.
Alexandrea’s confidence skyrocketed the moment she held her first blade in her hands. She was surprisingly apt to fencing, her quick blade work and moves making up for her lack of strength. However, it wasn’t just the fencing that helped her confidence: Alexandrea’s newfound bond with her oldest brother Tamriel was the closest thing to a friendship she had ever had. While she constantly fought with her sisters, Tamriel always listened to her and encouraged her to do her best. While their parents were absent as they were extremely busy, Tamriel always tried to make time for her and served as a mentor. Tamriel was extremely important to Alexandrea, and she maintains that if he hadn’t been around she would have been a mess as a kid.
However, just because Tamriel was around didn’t mean the bullying stopped. Alexandrea, now much taller but still very lanky, took it as best she could, but eventually she couldn’t handle it any longer. When she was 17 she finally snapped, challenging one of her long-time bullies, a boy named Graham, to a fencing bout. Graham, a big brute of an 18-year-old, boasted that Alexandrea couldn’t beat him in a million years. However, when the two fought, Graham and his friends were shocked when Alexandrea dodged every hit Graham tried to land on her, even landing a few nasty hits herself. Furious at his looming defeat, Graham shifted the fight to a full-on fist fight, and the two ended up brawling. After a few hits, both were pulled off of one another, Alexandrea with only a bloody lip and Graham with a broken, bloody nose and an extremely swollen black eye.
Needless to say, the farm kids decided to leave Alexandrea alone after her fight with Graham. Finally left to her own devices, Alexandrea focused on working the farm for the next few years, all the while still sparing often with her brother Tamriel. Her fight, of course, didn’t make her any friends with the community children, so she started used her spare time to read some of the books her father occasionally picked up when he was in town.
Again she was sucked into the beautiful and dangerous worlds her mother had told her about all those years ago, which re-sparked her adventuring and battle dreams. However, Alexandrea now had Tamriel there to tell her it was best to keep her mind out of the clouds and on the farm. While it hurt Alexandrea, she knew Tamriel was right; the most likely fate for her was to continue working on the farm for her parents for the rest of her life, and while it wasn’t the most glamorous of lives she knew it could have been a lot worse.
Which it was indeed about to become. A few weeks before her 22nd birthday, the entire farming community was raided by Sparathenian bandits. Many of the fields were set aflame, and if they weren’t torched they were torn apart. Thankfully the Casca Farm merely had the latter happen to them, which meant they could salvage their fields. However, the Casca’s were torn apart as they had lost something – or rather someone – who was extremely important to the farm: Tamriel. In the chaos that was the raid, the bandits presumably knocked him out and dragged him onto the back of one of their horses, kidnapping him.
Alexandrea was absolutely devastated. She begged her parents to let her go after him but they refused, insisting that James, who was now elderly and unable to even work the fields, would go out in search of him. Furious and torn, Alexandrea watched as her father slowly prepared over the course of a week for his journey. Finally, the night before he was to leave, Alexandrea secretly stole her father’s armor, sword, and one of his horses and rode off in the early hours of the morning for Sparathens.
(after this point is slightly edited so Alex isn't STILL looking for her brother)
The beginning of her journey was rocky, to say the least, with brigands and fighting galore. But after meeting Avidan, she was able to travel across Sparathens and discover what had happened to her brother. With her initial adventure having ended, she parted ways from Avidan, intending to find a way to send word to her family of her brother's fate. It was during this time that the great joining of worlds occurred, however, causing Alexandrea to greatly lose her way. She is now in Sacae, which she originally believed to be Lupercallia.
