Valerie let out a hardy, honest laugh. The call of gold was too strong for the two to resist it seemed. She was also happy to see that the thief had some honour, even if he was making a risky call. Valerie was happy about that, a crook without some degree of honour is no better than some prideless savage. If you can't take any pride in yourself or what you do, then how can you do it with any success?
The woman, though fairly blunt, likely possessed the same honour. This was only natural to Valerie; Cefia had said she was a pirate. It also seemed that she did use weapons: good old axes just like she did. "Of course, lead the way and I'll talk,"
"The job's simple 'nough. Merchant has silk and finery from a Nabatan village. Very rare, pricey. Thing is that the road from 'ere to Ostia is long an' dangerous one," Valerie grinned, "An' that's where we come in. On his last delivery he lost a couple bodyguards and the survivors quit on short notice. Now 'e's only got a couple bodyguards and is in dire need of some more. We jus' have to ride with the caravan, stop whatever comes our way an' tries to rob 'im. Odds are it'll be nothin', and if it is, then it just be some sloppy landlubbers,"
"Pay might be a wee bit negotiable, but the deal's not so bad as is. 300 gold up-front, 700 more in Ostia. Each,"

Cruentus couldn't help but protest at Cefia's proposal. He shook his head grimly, his voice rife with disgust.
"While I don't normally have any problems with an inn - and certainly not with the lovely wenches that usually come with such places - is it really that wise to head over to this town's inn, where there's bound to be people that witnessed us slaughter their guards in the marketplace? We only escaped through sheer luck. And besides-"
The navy-haired thief hushed himself when Valerie began to speak. As she did so, he felt his eyes gradually swell in surprise and intrigue alike. Fine silk, with a price tag that nearly made Cruentus fall over sideways. It was now evident that these women knew their way around this particular line of work, being pillaging denizens of the seas.
Suppressing his urge to eagerly accept the offer outright, Cruentus pursed his lips briefly, then shut his eyes.
"Well, that's not nearly as much as I would've gotten had I been able to take that so-called 'Red Gem', but at least you seem sure of yourself. But there's still this whole inn mess. We're - well, Cefia - isn't equipped yet, and we're bound to stir up trouble if we just show up at the inn in our current guises. I'd say our best move at this point is to find a way to dress up as either merchants or soldiers. Either that or we rush our way in by brute force, although the only thing we'd be rushing to at the point is death. We're in a dingy little alley right now. People throw trash and old items here all the time. Why don't we see if we can find some old clothing to disguise ourselves as traders? Bit safer, isn't it? Unless stealth isn't your cup of tea.
After a brief pause, Cruentus opened his eyes and shifted his weight to the wall once more, drawing forth a sharp intake of air. He settled his gaze onto the two pirates, awaiting their respective responses.

"Listen I did not kill anyone there," Cefia shrugged at Cruentus' suggestion. She only gave a good knocking to the foolish young men who would destroy a valuable work of art. However he was the professional here and so she found a piece of old cloth and used it as a makeshift cloak. As for the actual job offer, she couldn't help but feel slightly cheated. She knew of the value of the so called silk, having encountered it with her parents many years ago. Than again there wasn't a war like this one going on. The market for such silk is shrinking so the seller might already have trouble on their part.
"Sounds fair enough," she said almost begrudgingly taking the lead back towards her inn. The streets were surprisingly clear but that didn't bother her much at all. Her place was close by, she muttered a bit to herself thinking about how well she can travel with her axe. Her axes were more difficult to handle considering the size, she had yet to fully adjust to them. Hopefully this wouldn't drag the others down.
"Give me a moment while I run up," she indicated with her head and within moments she came clanking down with her weapons. The cloak wasn't much use now for inconspicuousness.

((Hope you all don't mind me inserting myself in at this point...))
Cerise opened her eyes, not appreciating the amount of noise chaotically sounding off in the nearby room. Having just gotten into town, the trek from Pherae to where ever here was wasn't appreciated in the slightest. Sore (and maybe a little groggy), Cerise was honestly considering going back home. So far, any idea of adventure had yet to be found. The wilderness was a harsh place too, and though the room Cerise was renting was quaint, the bed was extremely comfortable after several nights of sleeping on the ground.
Taking a deep breath, the small female shifted her body to the left of her bed, sat up and stared at the wall for a few seconds, and then dressed fully, even with her full quiver of arrows and bow. Popping her knuckles, Cerise lazily tied her bed hair into a messy bun and eased out the door, taking a few steps down the hall as she craned her head, simply glaring in the direction of the clattering metal before taking her first step down the stairs, only to be passed by a woman with blades resonating off one another.
"Excuse you..." she grumbled, trotting down the rest of the stairs, only to pay the man at the front desk, who seemed to be ignoring the situation at hand.
Shifting from foot to foot, she noticed that the nearby man and two women were armed to the teeth. Well, one was, and the others had their respective weapon, but that was beside the point! The point was that these people might be doing something, and Cerise wanted to know what. So, with eyes like a kid in a candy shop, and perhaps with a terrible lack of judgment on her part, Cerise asked, "Where are you three doing?"

Cruentus brought up many strong points as to why heading for the inn was a bad idea. Valerie did take note of them and weighed the risks against the gains. Winding up in jail, likely for guards to have their way with her if she's unlucky, was far from something she truly considered pleasant. Having lived the life of a pirate, however, Valerie was used to making a target out of the law rather than being their targets. There was little fear for mere Port Guards when she had faced down the Etrurian Navy.
So she had to add the variable factor of how much she gave a damn to the equation.
She didn't give much of a damn.
Neither did Cefia it seemed. Valerie thought it because she was also a pirate but it turned out that Cefia seemed to believe that the guards actually cared whether or not she "killed" any of their comrades. Raising a fist to them was just as bad. Regardless Valerie merely laughed boisterously while Cefia led them to the inn. It seemed that they were in luck the town wasn't on the hunt for them at the moment but they had little time to spare.
And seeing Cefia loaded with her weapons was worth it. The woman had some fierce axes, or at least one. Valerie could only hear the clattering of one hidden by a cloak. It then occurred to Valerie that her own ax was still coated in blood: guardsman blood. Well, crap. That's no good...
It would probably serve her well to hurry the group along.
So when another woman approached them Valerie merely spared her a glance, "Off on a job. If ye can fight, come with. If ye can't, scram,"

OoC: Short post. I apologize; I'm literally typing this as I'm heading out the door.
Valerie has been succinct and brusque, but effective nonetheless.
Cruentus, however, had not received the desired response from her. The way she was conveying her expressions, it seemed like she would forgo a clever approach and strike with brute force. Because after all, their merry little group definitely stood a chance against an entire population of city folk.
He strode over to the newcomer girl, who Valerie so rudely brushed off.
"Hm? What's your name?" Cruentus asked the girl bracingly. "You might be in the wrong place. We're trying to do something here. But..."
He shot her a smirk.
"Perhaps we can find a place for you. You're not dressed like a common merchant or citizen."

"Well the more the merrier," Cefia grinned when Val offered the job to yet another girl. She isn't against taking in new people for missions especially since it meant the less likability of death occurring as long as they could handle their own. She could do with extra money but the payment would become invalid if she died.
Cefia rarely judged a book by its cover but that has costed a bit of lives on her part. It didn't keep her down though, finding that if they were dead it meant they wouldn't come back for her head later on. She hoped to make enough money to go back to Etruria and give her parents a stern talk or two. The Etrurian army forced a pirate like her into Ilia of all places after all!

Cerise tilted her head for a moment at the older woman who had invited her into what looked to be a newly formed group before cracking her knuckles. "Sounds fun, right up my alley even," In truth, Cerise could have peed on the floor and started doing flip flops, despite the somewhat cool, nonchalant appearance she was going for. This was why she had left Pherae, to get some experience and chronicle an adventure.
Gesturing towards her bow, Cerise winked at what she assumed was the party leader before turning her attention toward the navy haired male who wasn't wearing an ounce of color otherwise. "Name's Cerise. Lived in Pherae until recently, then my ma decided let me leave and go have a life,"
She couldn't tell if this thief was teasing her, but his smirk managed to garner an eye roll. "I'd assume you couldn't stop me if you tried," With a small giggle, she crossed her arms and jerked her head in the direction of the woman who'd spoken to her first. "Besides, looks like I've already found a place in the group. I'll keep you all covered with my bow,"
With that, she craned her head in the direction of the woman who had so rudely awakened her. With a feigned smile (she wanted to sleep in, dammit), Cerise returned her attention the first woman.
"So how's this going down?"

Valerie slowed to a halt and cast a smirk at the younger girl. Most, seeing her young age, would have likely been suspicious about the skill and usefulness of one so young. However Valerie could remember slaying her first soldier at around the same age. An archer would be plenty useful to boot and filled in a nice niche for the group. Who was Valerie to say no? Besides it seemed that her group didn't mind the extra company.
Particularly Cruentus. The thief had spared the girl far more words than either she nor Cefia. Could be 'cause she was young, could be 'cause he liked him like that. It piqued her interest, though she wasn't one to judge. Traveling with a group of women the thief ought to feel on top of the world...minus his slight fair of incarceration.
"Fair 'nough lass. Job's fer a merchant. Paranoid bugger, but 'e pays well. We're to move with his caravan from 'ere to Ostia, keep it all safe from bandits and such. Pay's 300 up front, 700 when the caravan reaches Ostia safely," Valerie explained once again, keeping it more simple rather than likening the job description to a seaman's tale like she had the first time. Odds were she wouldn't have to tell it again so there wasn't a need to mince too many words, but, Valerie hated repeating herself...sometimes.
"Now, best follow me then. I can take us to the inn...unseen, if it suits ya Crue," Valerie paused. She was nicknaming this group now? Whatever, his name was too long anyway.
