There was a little girl screaming... and it was coming from inside the cave! Lisa had a totally shocked face now, you just couldn't see because it was dark and stuff. Voices were coming from deeper inside, bouncing off the walls and becoming gargled mushy garbage that didn't even resemble words by the time it came to her. Still it sounded an awful lot like sounds, and sounds only meant one thing! Ghosts People were inside and were in trouble! She knew just what to do in a situation like this! Rush inside without a second thought and also get yourself caught up in whatever trouble they were in! So she did, she ran through the dark cave following the light flickering in the distance. Her own lantern shedding a minimal of light on the area around her, which was a bummer because she was sure the cave was interesting and stuff and had cool stuff on the walls but she was too busy running ahead that she couldn't see. It looked like a lot of rocks though, also she almost tripped like five times. Where were there so many rocks if this hole in a rock?
She grew closer, and unlike what a smart person would do, she just kept running into whatever the situation was without a moment's hesitation to, y'know, assess things or prepare for what could possibly be infinity bears wanting to eat her tender peggy knight flesh (the most tender of all flesh). Maaaaaybe she wasn't exactly an 'exemplary' soldier, but she likes to think that her desire to help people made up for it. Somewhat. Even though the last time she helped someone it got her discharged from her squad that had mostly been... Okay what was going on here?
"Are you alright? Is this man attacking you?" She burst into the scene, seeing a woman who looks like she was wearing a bedsheet and some dude in armor. Maybe the wyvern belonged to him. Or... her. Y'know gender roles being reversed and all that good stuff. Who's to say this girl isn't flying around in a nightgown all over Lycia? Anyways, that's what she saw. So she asked, or maybe accused, she wasn't entirely sure how it came out of her mouth, if the man was attacking the girl. After all it was a girly scream she heard, and who would believe a girl in a curtain was attacking a heavily armored man? That's just silly.

"Well then we can go find me something right now!" Already (re)excited by the prospect of treasure, Elesia filtered out the unimportant bits about there not actually being anything valuable there and focused entirely on Hal's excuse, which she took at face value without even considering the mere possibility of it being a pitiful excuse, because Hal was brave and would never ever run from anything. "Bad guys always have loot, that's, like, in the book of bad guying. And we're HEROES so we have aucomactic... autocamor..." She grimaced as she tried to pronounce the word a few more times mentally, then shrugged and continued blithely as if nothing had happened. "It's ours if we find it! But we gotta find it to get it. Which means we gotta start looking if we want to find it so we can get it."
Elisabeth's arrival was probably more of a surprise to Elesia than it was to Hal, given that the feral mage's back had been to the entrance, which clearly meant that her immediate reaction was to gracefully mask her surprised stumble by scooting over to Hal's side and holding his arm after turning around. Just in case it was a ghost. Which it wasn't. And it was talking. "...Wut?" Elesia stared blankly at the new girl person thing, trying to understand how anyone could ask such a silly and obvious question. "No, I'm attacking him. Why would he attack me?"
Really, people asked the dumbest questions. Hal wouldn't attack her, obviously. They were heroes, and heroes worked together. People who hurt each other were bad guys, and heroes couldn't be bad guys, or they wouldn't be heroes.

Hal was too preoccupied with talking to Elesia to notice there were another set of footsteps. Hal never moved as fast as he did when the intruder had made their self known, he quickly rose to his feet with his lance pointed towards the the small radiance of light. His hands were shaking a bit, he was scared to death yet again but the moment Elesia almost flew behind him and latched onto his arm it calmed him a little. His hands stopped shaking, his protective nature had began to kick in and nothing was going to harm Elesia as long as he drew breath. As he pulled his arm from her grip he took a step forward only to hear the intruder ask if he was attacking Elesia, but that made no sense? Just because he's a boy and she's a girl doesn't mean he would cause harm to her, in fact it was quite the opposite. First she nearly gave him a heart attack then she almost crushed him to death with her bear hug of bear death. "W-who are you?... Ar-are you o-o-one of those ba-band-its?" Very intimidating Hal, act tough while studering isn't going to scare anybody.

"Well I heard a very... uh... loud scream, and then when I came here I saw this heavily armored dude who is pointing a spear at me right now, thank you for that by the way, so I only assumed he might have attacked you." She spoke offhandedly, with a shake of her head. She looked at the small girl who was flitting around like she was a part in some kind of play with her bedsheet and her clinging to the dude and everything. Then she looked at the man who was literally shuddering on the spot. Elisa never thought of herself and particularly terrifying, she was a cute girl with nary a threatening bone in her body. If this girl's attacking him and Elisa is scaring him, maybe this guy was afraid of girls?
She lifted her lantern up high, filling the immediate area with a touch more light. She could get a better look at the two now, but it wasn't that useful. What she was looking for was b-b-bandits, as that guy seemed to think there was. Unless he meant her, in which case rude. "Are you talking to me?" She asked, not quite flabbergasted but clearly surprised and maybe a touch offended with a dash of incredulous and more then a smidgen of hungry. "No! I'm not a bandit!" The nerve of some people. Her face puffed up into a pout. Aren't boys supposed to be nice to girls? What a meany.
"I'm Elisabeth, I saw smoke and signs of conflict, so I came down to see if everything's alright. I take it you aren't bandits, since I'm not mean like that, but you ran into some?" At least they weren't cave bears that wanted to rip her limb from limb. "You all alright? I have some rations on my pegasi if you need any." She didn't have much, per se, but she had enough to help some hungry travelers. She tilted her head a bit, looking around the two. "There's some more people deeper in, right?" She said, looking at the light. "Should I run, or are they friendly?"

"Yeah, that was all Hal!" Completely missing the point, Elesia leaped headfirst into the conversation, her... lacking social graces made up for by Hal's proximity. "I know he's kinda really cool, but he's cool." That didn't sound right. Did it? She wasn't sure if that was grammatically wrong or not, but something about it sounded off. "I mean, he's a hero, so obviously he wouldn't hurt anyone! Anyone good. Bad people can go be... dumb... somewhere else." The mage-ghost-bear-girl nodded smartly as if that explained everything that the other girl could ever want to know. Which it did, clearly.
"I'm Elesia!" Pushing off of Hal and pirouetting in place, she struck a suitably heroic pose, one finger stabbing into the heavens as if she was about to drill through them. "Me an' Hal are HEROES." The pose dissipated as quickly as her exuberance. "Gonna be, anyways. And that's Hal." The concept of actually letting him introduce himself was lost on her, as was letting him talk. "I have no idea what's going on but he said there might be shiny stuff further in, and I guess we have some friends in there too," it was probably for the best that apparently neither Abel nor Trey were paying attention, "And we're, like, tomb raiding or something I guess?"
Huh. It finally ocurred to her, countless hours later, that she had not planned this excursion out very well at all. Typically for her, Elesia immediately shrugged it off without a second thought as her brain slowly started moving. "Wait, you have a pegasus? Aren't those the horse things?" Grinning immediately, Elesia spun to face Hal. "Okay, I'm going to go learn how to fly with, uh, magic or something, you two can't have ALL the fun."

Hal held his ground even while blushing, bandits weren't be the type to be trusted. Just because this girl claims to be friendly he couldn't let his guard down, if something happened to Elesia he couldn't forgive himself. Hal hated being right, that meant something bad could happen and he had wished they put out of the fire just in case. Elesia had warmed up to her pretty quickly, letting out a sigh he lowered his lance. "Like Elesia said, we were looking for some tombs when I was attacked by bandits. We learned that it was just a lie to lure unexpecting victims where they would ambush them, my friends and myself came in here to gather the stolen goods. If you're to come with us, I would feel more comfortable if you lead the way." Hal had stepped to the side to give Lisa enough room to pass if she would take him up on the offer.
(Sorry, not trying to sound like an ass. Hal went into protective mode so he isn't trusting a stranger popping up after being attacked.)

The girl was enthusiastic as she both figuratively and literally danced around, announcing herself to the world and the identity of her partner in crime. She lavished praise upon him, and boasted triumphantly. She gave the man an incredulous look, a smirk on her face. "Yeah, really cool." It appeared the shout she heard earlier belonged to this man, that combined with how he was holding his lance in a 'move and I stab you' kinda way, the man was really anything but 'really cool'. She heralded herself as a hero, and that clearly heroes can do no wrong, and all that good stuff. However she did confirm the people within were friendly (to them anyways), and that this place they were in was a tomb. Then she shouted excitedly about pegasi and Elisa couldn't help but reply with a smile. "Yup, the horse things with the wingy bits." She said something about flying with magic, and how they 'can't have all the fun' perhaps the man was the owner of the wyvern out there?
She watched 'Hal' (as Elesia had deemed him) with a cocked brow as he slowly lowered his lance and explained his story. Elisa let out a long lazy sigh, it seemed that if there was one thing she could count on it was that bandits suck everywhere. "It's surprising how devious bandits can be sometimes. Still if that's the case, then I suppose I can't be too upset at you. You have every right to be suspicious, still you're never gonna make friends if you threaten to skewer everyone you meet." She let out a tired sounding chuckle. While she wasn't exactly happy about the accusation (seriously he could he think she was a bandit? The audacity, the unmitigated gall! Harumph) She didn't hold it against him, assuming he didn't go and stuff things up by threatening her again. It was stuff like that that turned her off of trying to help people. Of course she was stupid and foolish and idealistic and naive and all that good junk, so maybe it was her fault. "If bandits have been raiding this area for people looking to loot tombs, they probably took down some capable folk. The average person doesn't go tomb raiding after all." She mused aloud. Now she was curious, drat. There was also the chance that there was more bandits within, and she couldn't in good conscious just leave them in that case.
"As long as you are really heroes, I suppose I have nothing to worry about, right?" She smirked as she took a few cautionary steps forward. Perhaps she was being dumb heading ahead, after all it gave them a clear shot at her back and put her in a pincer between them and their friends, but she trusted them enough to not horribly murder her. After all, even if they were going to jump her, it probably wouldn't matter if she came or not. There were two of them (maybe more), Elesia was probably not as frail as she looked seeing as she was running around in a nightgown in bandit country and not dead, so she would probably be in trouble either way.

"Hal doesn't stew everyone he meets!" retorted an aghast Elesia, completely unable to comprehend the idea of Hal making people into stew and eating them. Seriously, who the hell would just assume that you went around eating people? And people thought she had some weird ideas. "I know he's pretty impressive but you don't have to be scared, 'cuz Hal is a good guy and he doesn't hurt pretty girls!" Some day in the far... far... future, perhaps Elesia would be able to consciously use her talent for insulting and complimenting others simultaneously for good. For the time being, she unconsciously used it to confuse the hell out of people.
She resorted to giving Elisabeth the evil eye for a few moments before remembering that she actually didn't have any particular eye-based superpowers and gave it up as a bad job. Besides, no one who rode a flying horse could be THAT bad, though Elesia didn't understand why they wouldn't fly the far-superior dragon lizard things like Sol instead, who were clearly superior because they were bitier and scalier and those were all good qualities to have if you wanted to bite and... scale... things.
Anyways.
Not entirely following the situation, Elesia opted to patter on after Elisabeth rather than worrying too much about who was a bandit and all, becuz clearly bandits didn't ride pegasis. Was that the plural? Pegasises? Pegasusus? Pegasi's? She could ask, but that would make her look uncultured. Hm. Throwing caution to the wind, still emboldened by Hal's presence, Elesia decided to strike up a conversation with their new party member. "So what's riding a pega-sis like, anyways? Is it like a wyvern, just less bitey? Do you have any STORIES of being a HERO?"

Hal remained silent despite the girls talking about how rude he was or freakishly amazingly awesome he was at being a hero. He kept himself between Elesia and Lisa, his protective nature wouldn't allow Elesia to get too close to danger. In the past few weeks he had met some interesting characters, and strangely enough Elesia didn't come close to the top contender for that category. It wasn't long before they made it to the fork, does he tell the truth and head left or lie and go right? On one hand if they went left Lisa may feel as if he was leading her into a trap and fight back, on the other hand the worst thing that could happen is they run into a dead end and find nothing. He still didn't like Abel for helping out the Bern rebels, who now have his home under their control and who knows what could have happened to his family, lie and go right it is. He didn't want anything to happen to one of the two he cared for and knew was alright. "We went to the right, I was going back out to check on Sol when I ran into Elesia then you." Hal's heart began to race, he could swear he could hear his heartbeat echo in the cavern but he was just being paranoid. Deep down he knew just taking the loot, if there was any, was plain out wrong but he also hoped that there was something pretty he could snatch up for his mom.

"I said skewer, not stew. I was more afraid he'd make me a kebab rather then a pot of beef stew." Lisa simply grinned with a small chuckle. The girl reminded her of her little sister. Energetic, excitable, and probably more dangerous then she appears, it was a bit out of place considering they were in the dungeons of doom over here, but whatever you know? "I'll take that as a compliment Elesia." She referred to Elisabeth as a 'pretty-girl' though that was scarcely the point she was trying to make most probably. "And I will respond by saying I'll believe you, I'm sure Hal is a fine fellow. Just a bit jumpy. I mean he'd have to be to have cute girl like you hanging on his arm and praising him every step of the way." She seemed a bit simple, and it would seem that it would be easy to dupe someone like that into believing you're without flaws even if you're a monster, but Elisabeth believed otherwise. No, it was the ones who didn't make things complicated that were the hardest to fool. If this Hal was a bad person, she doubted this Elesia would be hanging on his every words as she was. Then again maybe it was Lisa that was the simple one here.
"How's riding a pegasus? Hum... that might take a minute to answer. Never really thought about it. I mean I've never ridden a wyvern, but I'd assume that while they are very similar they are also very different. Wyverns are all strength and power, while a pegasus is more graceful and flighty. I mean I've met more then my share of powerful pegasi, and plenty of graceful wyvern riders so that's not exactly a done deal comparison but... uh... I dunno." She tried to answer, but found it hard to think of the right thing to say. Instead words just kinda toppled from her mouth without any real purpose or reasoning to them. "As for stories, well now's not the time since we're in the middle of a dark dank cave with the possibility of being horribly murdered and devoured by cave lizards or something, I promise I'll tell you some later though." She was ahead of them, so they probably couldn't see her grin but it didn't really matter. Then her thoughts caught up to the rest of her, remembering this was just some random person she just met literally five minutes ago and that she probably would never see them again. Assuming they don't murder her. "Oh, um, if we get the chance that is. I mean, I dunno if there'll be a later or anything so I'm not trying to assume but, uh... If there is one, and you guys haven't chased me away or I haven't turned out to be a bandit in disguise without even realizing it or something." Maybe she was a sleeper agent. Maybe she's been a bandit this whole time. Maybe they were all bandits.
"Sol? Oh, uh, is that some guy? I didn't see anyone outside, just a wyvern..." Maybe Sol was the wyvern? Or maybe she was just assuming things again. She looked down the two paths. One to the left, one to the right. There was a light to the left, and nothing but darkness to the right. "The... right? I thought you said those guys with the light were your friends? I see them to the left." She craned her neck around to look down both paths. "But... Uh... I suppose I'll go right like you say." She shrugged and began to head down the right path, possibly to her doom but at this point it was sort something that went without saying. "So Elesia, tell me a little more about Hal. I doubt he'll tell me his self. I get that he's a hero, but why is he a hero? Does he save damsels in distress? Does he fight dragons? Or is he just a hero because he's a hero?"

"Ka-bobs?" Elesia's face scrunched up into a frown as she tried to remember what this mysterious new concept might be. The pretty lady used a lot of weird words that she didn't know, and the queen of bears wasn't sure she liked it. Or understood it. "Hal, is that a food?" Maybe it was food. Stew was food, and she was hungry, so yeah it was probably food. Flawless logic! And a new friend. Not as trustworthy as Hal, obviously, no one was as trustworthy as Hal except for her because Elesia trusted herself more than everyone else except for Hal. But trustable enough. Or maybe that was punchable. She got the two confused sometimes, but after a moment of intense concentration, she decided that thsi was probably not a punching moment. She was gonna keep an eye on Lisa though, just in case it turned out IT WAS. That would be a fun twist.
Elisabeth's explanation of the intricacies of wyvern versus pegasus flight went completely over Elesia's head, so she settled for nodding and smiling in a fairly unconvincing way. The girl's rambling about disguised bandits left Elesia even more confused - bandits weren't smart enough to disguise themselves, duh, so how could they disguise themselves? That was just silly - so she mumbled something vaguely affirmative and tried to look like she understood completely. This whole situation was giving her a headache, and she was reasonably certain that Hal would yell at her if she went the BURN EVERYTHING route again, something about people being flammable and murder being bad and bla bla bla whatever, if they really didn't want to be set on fire they would be immune to it.
It was probably for the best that Lisa's questions pulled her out of her fiery reverie, sending Elesia scampering along after her after a Look(tm) at Hal to follow along, said look actually being a wide grin and a vague gesture to follow along along with something unintelligible as her brain switched gears with all the grace of a dying hippopotamus. Thrashing around in a river. Trying not to drown.
"Hal and me saved a bunch of people from deader people!" Good times. Fiery times. Pirouetting spontaneously as she walked, Elesia ignited a small spark that danced up and down her arm for a few moments, half mesmerized by the flickering flame as she tried to pin down how Hal was a hero. "I think Sol would be mad if we hurt dragons though. They're like his... cousins or something. Probably. And I don't think I could burn them, and I think Hal said once that he didn't think stabbing them was a good idea anyways. For some reason." She had no idea why. "But he saves people. He saved me! What's a damsel?"

"A Kabob is normally meat and or vegetables on a stick and it's grilled. I don't think human meat would taste good so I wouldn't use a young lady to make one." Knowing Elesia, once they got to a town she would drag him to buy her one, or just steal his wallet again, most likely the latter. The two kept throwing around the word 'Hero' as if he deserved that title, he was simply in the wrong right place at the wrong right time. In all honesty he would have rather fled when those damned creatures had first showed their faces but Elesia didn't want to, he couldn't just leave her behind. "A damsel is a pretty girl in danger." Hal gave Elesia a smile while he blushed, hopefully the darkness would hide that. "I'm not a hero, I'm just.... just a coward. If I was alone I would have just ran, since Elesia wasn't going to flee I stayed to protect her." Oh gods, Hal didn't think his plan through, how would Elisabeth react when they found the end and there wasn't anybody else, he had no idea how to explain that. He was a terrible liar, he wasn't sure how he was able to fool her this long but soon it would be reveled to the girls. Their foot steps had began to echo louder, maybe that had meant they were getting closer to the end of the tunnel?

Lisa never found her vocabulary particularly expansive or complicated or whatever, but it seems the girl simply didn't understand half the things she said. Which was worrisome really, but the pegasus knight just simply sighed. Once more Hal was implying that Lisa was a danger, and really she's done everything she's could to try and persuade him this wasn't the case. She wouldn't let it get to her though, after this was all over she would just hop on Medusa and fly away somewhere and wouldn't have to worry about this anymore. This is what you get for trying to help people. Lisa groaned internally. "Don't worry about, I was just saying words." She simply said with a shrug. "Talking helps me when I'm nervous I'll just stay quiet." She walked in silence for a bit as they followed her. Talking to them was wasted, Hal simply ignored half the things she said and Elesia couldn't understand the other half and wait a second where they getting near a wall? The silence made the slowly increasing sound created by their footprints all the louder, but she paid it no mind at the time, but now it was hard to ignore. She stopped for a moment. Holding a finger up to the air to tell the two following her to hold up for a second. "Wait a second." She bent down to pick up a small rock and tossed it at the wall to listen to the sound it made. The echo was... loud. Like it was coming from all around her instead of just above her. Like there was a wall coming.
"Oh come on." She groaned with an exaggerated shrug. "You're leading me to a dead end aren't you?" She turned around to look at Hal. She frowned, she didn't look mad or upset or even distraught. She looked more annoyed then anything. "You don't seem the type to rob or kill someone, I mean you're a 'hero' after all. So what exactly is your plan here?" She didn't make any movements because she was clearly at a disadvantage, and somewhere she hoped this was all just some kind of misunderstand. "I thought you said your friends were this way. All I see is a lot of nothing."

Elisabeth seemed like a nice girl, Elesia definitely seemed to like her so having her around so lying to her constantly had made him feel more worse than it already did. The three finally found the dead end and Elisabeth called Hal out on his bluff, he didn't really care for Abel much so them being away from those two was nice but it was at the risk of Elesia losing her new friend. He couldn't lie his way out of it but he didn't know what to say. "I said I wasn't a hero..." Hal mumbled. "Uhm... I was trying to ditch them... I only came back down so I wouldn't upset Elesia..." Well there goes not lying, well actually there was some truth behind that. He did want to get away from Abel. "Can we go now, please?"

Elesia sighed loudly, purely coincidentally drawing attention to herself as she put one hand on her hip while staring at Hal with fond disappointment, or at least that was what she was going for, she wasn't sure how it actually looked. "You really can't do anything without me, huh?" In the far... far... future, perhaps she would consider her words more carefully - but she would also probably be repeating that phrase a lot when talking to Hal. She just had that kind of feeling. She totally had to cover for him though, the pretty pegasus lady was getting a totally wrong impression of Hal.
"Oh, don't worry, he doesn't have any friends 'cept me. So he was being honest!" Blissfully certain that she was helping so hard like no one had ever done before, Elesia continued blithely onwards. "And technically I rob more than him." Oh. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaving cream. THAT was why she had come back. Turning to Hal, she managed to look somewhat sorry with a bit of effort. "Uh, sorry about taking your money thing, by the way." While Elesia hadn't really thought about it that hard, she was vaguely aware that she more felt bad about making Hal mad than the morality of the thing, mostly since she still didn't really understand the morality thing that well.
After a momentary awkward pause, she pivoted back to Elisabeth, determined to fix EVERYTHING with her fantastic fixing powers. "Since we're all apologizing for doing stuff, you gotta pitch in too! Did you burn down any orphanages on the way here or summat?"
