"Well..." She still had the lantern in hand, but if she didn't she probably would have struck some sort of dismissive sassy pose. She just looked at Hal with a raised brow but finally just sighed. "Yeah I'll buy that. I've had my fair share of poorly thought out ideas, I know what it's like." Oh it would take too long to even begin to list. "So I can understand just how stupid sounding the truth can be compared to what are, without doubt, more interesting lies. I mean sometimes the truth is just dumb." She shrugged her shoulders. Some people looked for meaning in everything, Elisabeth was a firm believer that some things were just stupid and there were no meaning attached. Why'd that person go streaking? Maybe he just wanted to be naked, it didn't have to be a 'statement'. "Well I dunno what they did to deserve getting ditched, but it's really not my business. The less I know the better in that case."
She turned around again, holding the lantern up high to light up the way. "We haven't actually reached the dead end yet, we came all this way might as well see the rock wall and be completely disappointed." She smiled as she began to walk forward again, they were close to wherever this tunnel ended up, but not so much that she could actually see. So instead of walking in silence again, which only seemed to cause problems, she decided to answer the little thief Elesia's question. "Well burning an orphanage is just a waste of perfectly good orphans, so no I haven't done anything like that. I guess if I had to apologize for anything, I'm sorry for bothering you two." She was like a third wheel on a carriage, completely pointless but at least it made for a good conversation piece.

Hal wanted to glomp Elesia when she apologized for stealing his coin purse, he couldn't explain why but he found that adorable. Possibly because it would have been something his little sister would have done and said. Then she went back to her old ways, saying the first thing that almost popped into her head, instead of the thought finishing formulating it came out of her mouth. It's been close to three years since he saw his family, Elesia reminded him of his youngest sister who was now 7. The more time he spent with her the more home sick he had became, maybe it was a sign he should go home, he did have Sol to make the trip a lot more bearable and Elesia would make the perfect company...
As Hal trailed off being lost in his thought he had missed most of what went on around him, he barely noticed Elisabeth suggesting the three go on to the end. It was nice to see somebody humoring Elesia's wild child thoughts, maybe he should try to make things more interesting? "Last one to the end is a rotten egg!" Hal proclaimed as he took off running, he didn't get far though. He lost his footing shortly after passing by Elisabeth and tripped, he hit the ground with a thud and slid a couple of feet. His armor took most of the impact for him luckily, his hands did get scraped a little and got the wind knocked out of him. He felt like a fool now and wished he could fade away into the darkness so he didn't have to feel embarrassed in front of the girls.

"No! You're a- a rotten - egg!" Completely missing the point of the race, Elesia opted to stand there reacting to Hal's proclamation for a few seconds before it finally clicked that they were supposed to be racing and holy crap he had totally broken the complex moral code that dictated spontaneous races. "A more rotten...er... egg!" Because coherence was vastly overrated when dealing with the horror of cheating. Cheating that she would not have thought once about when doing it herself.
Elesia was not good at fairness when it applied to her.
Grinning so wide it threatened to swallow her face, the bear mage vaguely motioned to Elisabeth and shouted "LET'S GO" before leaping into pursuit of the no-good dirty rotten cheating egg she called a friend like a jack rabbit on cocaine. A pursuit that did not last very long before the traitorous cur found himself face-down on the dusty earth necessitating the barreling bundle of Bearlesia to hop over him, again eerily similar to a jack rabbit on cocaine. Landing with a surprising amount of grace given her usual tendencies and skidding several feet as she spun, Elesia wrassled with her response for only a moment before abandoning the race, loudly proclaiming "I WIN" before scooting over to Hal's side and patting him on the head awkwardly before trying to help him and all his armor up. Alone. "What are you made out of, bricks?" He wasn't THAT heavy before he got the armor, was he?

She sighed as she watched the two. Never before has she felt like the responsible one, it was an unusual and uncomfortable burden. Shaking her head, tutting like some kind of mother hen at the two. Also they completely ignored EVERYTHING she said, what was the point in trying to be friendly if no one cared? Bleh. She puffed her cheeks a bit in a pout, but it didn't last long as she continued to move forward at a leisurely pace. Hal laid splayed out on the ground like some kind of slapstick comedy routine and Elesia was struggling to help the man up. She sat her lantern down on the ground and bent down to grab his other hand. "Lemme help you." She said before helping him back to his feet with a grunt of effort. She was probably stronger physically then Elesia, so she had an easier time helping the armored man back to his feet. Together with the two of them it shouldn't be an issue. After he got back to his feet she giggled. "You alright there Hal?"
She didn't participate in their little race. Call her crazy but running around in the dark without a light source seemed like a poor idea. As Hal had demonstrated. Speaking of light, what did he trip over anyways? Hopefully not his own feet, that'd be embarrassing. She picked up her lantern she had set on the ground and held it up as she looked at the ground. "Is that..." She muttered, there was a sort of muddy shape that reflected the light with a strange sheen. "Armor?" She muttered as she bent down, it looked like a pauldron. She touched it, it was made of metal. "It is." She held her lantern up as she looked down the shortly ending tunnel. "I think maybe we found where the bandits hid their stash. Let's check it out." She said with a jerk of her head, motioning them to keep moving.

What a stupid idea, to have a race in a dark dirty cave. He wanted to lighten the mood and have a good time, the girls might have had one at his expense though. On top of falling face first onto the floor, Elesia had tried helping him up along with Elisabeth's help. He appreciated the kind act from the girls, but it was insult to injury at this point, he hasn't felt this embarrassed in his whole life, well other than that one morning with Elesia... Hal brushed off the excess dirt as Elisabeth was looking at what he tripped over, it appeared to be armor. He walked over to Elisabeth and knelt down to get a better view of it, most of it was stomped into the ground but he should be able to dig it out. "Elesia, come and help me dig this out." He turned to look at her, then shifted his eyes towards Elisabeth. "You can go ahead and check it out if you want. We'll catch up, I promise."

"Elesia dig this, Elesia pick up that." Elesia scoffed, rolling her head and eyes simultaneously - which she hadn't practiced in front of the mirror or anything of course that would be dumb - as she walked towards the duo. She was definitely not fanny flustered about not being able to pick up Hal and this dumb... new... person being able to do it. Elisabeth better not make any funny moves on Hal or she was going to be a human... something that was on fire. The point was that she was going to be on fire. "Seriously I haven't even gotten to use my new magic tome ONCE since that whole, uh, zombie death battle village rescue thing, and you wouldn't even let me explode that tree. One of these days my hand is gonna slip and BOOARGH."
The argh came from her tripping over another piece of metal she didn't recognize and faceplanting in the dirt, a position the suddenly very mortified wild child stayed in for almost long enough to look dead before hopping up spryly and acting like nothing had happened. "Right, digging!" Bears were good at digging, right? Or was that fishing? She had tried that once, but apparently fire didn't work underwater, so her idea of cooking all the fish in the river at once while they were still in the river hadn't worked, and she had also tripped and fell and gone over the waterfall and nearly drowned. That had been a really bad day. Anyways yeah digging.
she poked Hal in the shoulder from behind as she approached, looking at Elisabeth in the wake of his last words. "You know better than to mess with a maiden's heart, right? Real heroes don't lie to people. Unless they have a really good reason for it. Like... being hungry, or... something." She turned back to Hal. "So... can I just burn out the dumb armor stuff or what?"

Oh, mage. Well that explains that. She knew that girl was more than she appeared, that's how it always was. Her life was a long, cliched book and no one she meets is normal. Oh well. She shrugged with a sigh. She was trying to stay positive, but as time goes on it was getting a little bit more difficult. Hal didn't seem to think much of her, and it was hard to understand Elesia. For better or for worse. She did say Lisa was pretty before, but then she accused her of burning down orphanages. She put on a smile all the same, it was probably just her imagination. Hal was probably just a bit short because of the bandit attack and Elesia was probably just eccentric. Still it was clear that they had whatever they were doing covered, three pairs of hands weren't really needed. Maybe she should go ahead?
"I guess... I'll go ahead." She said to the duo, clearly not paying attention to her. She went ahead, as she said she would, looking back from the to time. There wasn't much light and she was leaving with the lantern, but she could still see them for a bit until she... Well until she couldn't frankly. She walked in darkness alone for a bit. Her free hand awkwardly tucked into her body as she wore a worried expression. It was quiet, she could hear echoes in the distance she assumed belonged to the other two, but it wasn't anything she could make out. By the time the echoes reached her they had bounced off the walls and that sound bounced and it continued until it sounded like ten people saying different things at the same time but quietly in the back like a dull roar. She felt a bit lonely really. It wasn't like she was expecting the walls to attack her, but they felt a bit foreboding.
Maybe she should leave, that wouldn't be a bad thing right about now. Still she was curious, she came all this way, might as well see the end. Just as that thought flitted across the membrane of countless thoughts flickering in an out of her mind, she reached the end. Or, rather, she reach a end. And for all this walking, and drama, and all the people dead and all of it the end result was rather... underwhelming.
She saw books, their hard covers in the light caught her eyes. Muddy brown binding and papers bound together by twine, all sorts of books but none too terribly fanciful. There was animal pelts and a few sets of armor. Mostly leather, from the looks of it, but most of it torn or rent. A handful of crude weapons, iron at best and near broken with rust stains and severe damage to them. There was a mandolin with broken strings and a half finished drawing of some woman, sitting over there with a few bottles of alcohol. Which ones were full and which ones were not weren't was something she wasn't capable of discerning. There was a broom, for some reason, a bundle of arrows and a bow with a snapped bowstrings and a small handful of gold coins littering the area. No more then twenty or so if someone took the effort to gather them all together. All in all it was a whole lot of worthless nothing, obviously not anything worth any sort of serious gold. Probably leftovers from other raids, the bandits most likely already sold everything of worth by now, and this is what remained. She let out a long sigh. Well now, looks like this was a waste of time. She didn't even know why she bothered some times. Maybe she shouldn't. It always ended like this.

"Elesia, shut up." Hal said jokingly. It didn't take long for the pair to dig the armor out, it was black and looked pretty cool, or so Hal thought. Inspecting it in the dimly lit tunnel it appeared it may be in Hal's size, after cleaning it up a bit he wouldn't mind trying it on to see if fit. He liked the armor he had now, but this looked cooler. He stood straight up, using his free hand to help Elesia up he started to lead the way, while still holding her hand. Once the two caught up to Elisabeth he looked around, all junk, he let out a sigh of disappointment, either they sold off anything of value or people who were even more broke than he was came out here. The only thing that caught his eye was a scythe, letting go of Elesia's hand he picked it up. He's used one a few times when he worked on a farm, he knew how to use them to harvest but how freakkin cool would it be to use one in combat? A flying grim reaper or something, it was then when he realized being in this cave let his imagination just run wild, he doesn't know why either. Perhaps the dark, damp cave allowed him to hide from any embarrassment he would suffer from, granted everything was just in his head.
"Now that this mystery is solved. What's next?" Maybe Elisabeth had something she was doing before coming down here. Even better yet, maybe she wouldn't care if Hal and Elesia came along too, Elesia seemed to be attached to her already so it's not like it would be all bad.

"Mrgrgr," Elesia rejoined as winglady wandered off to go be lonely or whatever it was that people who weren't superheroes did in their spare time. She wouldn't know, too busy being a bear, and also a hero. A heroic bear, in fact. Lizzy didn't seem to like them much, which made absolutely no sense whatsoever to the all-knowing sage-goddess-queen-empress Elesia. She was totally friendly, and Hal wasn't THAT bad for a Hal... maybe Lis was just shy? Or maybe this really was all Hal's fault. Kicking him in the shins - which accomplished a grand total of literally nothing given that she was barefooted and he was wearing armor - Elesia puffed up her cheeks, stage-whispering to him with as much subtlety as she could even in Elisabeth's absence. "You need to treat ladies better! I think you hurt her feelings. Real heroes are gentlemen! And, uh gentleladies."
The irony of her speech was completely lost on her as the wild mage followed him from the shadows, tackle-hugging Elisabeth from behind like a terrifying predator aaand slightly hurting her chest against the pegasus rider's rear armor, seriously why the hell did people wear all that hard stuff when it made them harder to hug? After a few short and very awkward hug from behind, Elesia detached herself juuuuust in case Elisabeth got any weird ideas about her. She was a lady dammit. Hal was handling some... some... wood thing with a metal thing on it, it vaguely looked like a weapon but she didn't really get it or care, and Elisabeth was probably busy being lonely or something.
GOLD.
Still hopped up on adrenaline, Elesia immediately dived for the gleaming glitter of gold, convinced that she had found the mother lode of riches. A mother lode that was exactly seventeen pieces of shininess big, as she quickly discovered by dint of her legendary packrat-fu technique. Which was cool and all, but seriously, whoever came up with this adventure waaay sucked at adventures and should go back to being dumb and boring somewhere else. Or maybe she had - no, of course she hadn't missed the adventure, there WAS no adventure without her! "WELP I'm rich now, finders keepers. Find anything you like, Lizzy?"
...She kinda liked how that sounded. Like... lizard, except not actually a lizard. Damn she was good with names.

It wasn't too long until she was joined by Hal and Elesia, guess digging armor out of the earth was less difficult than it appeared. Or maybe she was gone longer than she thought, it was kind of hard to tell time with no frame of reference. Either way, they got a good look at the bounty of glorious proportions. While she sort of just arrived here and really had no stake in the result, she couldn't help but feel that maybe this was a bit more disapointing for the armored man. Bandits, fall out with friends (or whatever they were), and a run in with a random woman and it all amounted to some farmer's scythe and a suit of most likely subpar armor. She imagined it was crappy armor, seeing as it was still here and everything.
"Eep!" She let out a small yelp as someone grabbed her from behind. Nearly dropping her lantern, it took her a moment before realizing that 'no, no Lisa you aren't being attacked' and a moment later, the girl sort of detached herself and wandered off. It was a bit... odd. Maybe Lisa just looked like she needed a hug? If that's what that was. She's been feeling sorry for herself enough that it might just be the case. Lisa watched as the young girl dived for the money, cracking a grin.
"Next?" She looked at Hal as he asked her what was next. She wasn't really... sure why he was asking her. They just sort of met an hour ago. To be honest she didn't know what she wanted to do next. She's been doing some freelance mercenary work about now, but it wasn't really that... She didn't exactly like it. She had no other skills though. Just flying and stabbing, not exactly a varied set. "Well we should probably get out of here first of all. I mean, the walk back's gotta be just as long as the walk in. After that though? Well I'm probably gonna..." She paused, thinking before shrugging. "I'm probably gonna head back home, to Ilia." To do what? Well she wasn't entirely sure. "Maybe see the folks, or my brother." She hadn't been home since she was fired, so it wasn't something she was looking forward to really, but it was something that had to be done. Eventually anyhow. Maybe she could find work with one of the mercenary organizations up there. Maybe if she's lucky she could make enough money she won't have to worry about money anymore. Unlikely, but you never know.
Elesia was greedily grabbing at the coins, lording over with her newfound wealth, a dozen goldinaire to be feared. Lisa lightly laughed. She needed that. "Nope, nothing for Lizzy." She shook her head, looking so terribly and painfully disapointed. Well it'd be a waste to not take something, what was the least awful thing here.... She sat down her lantern and picked up the mandolin, giving it a small strum and SNAP another one of strings broke and clinked off her armor. "Well then, talk about rude." There was only one good string left, still the instrument itself was in good shape. Maybe she'll give it to her sister, she always did like the bards. "Unless either of you want this, I'm gonna take it. Maybe I'll get it fixed up and give it to my sister as a gift." She shrugged. Or maybe she could learn to play it. She doubted that, but you never know.

It was amusing to watch Elesia dive for a few gold coins, like a kid chasing a butterfly. She then proclaimed how rich she was, Hal looked at her with a smile. "Maybe this time you can buy me dinner, since you're rich and all." Elisabeth had talked about going home to see her family, it tugged at some strings in Hal's heart. Maybe it was time for him to do the same? He stared at Elesia profusely, he wanted to make sure she was with him, she was his emotional crutch after all. He would't know how to react if it went bad if he didn't have somebody he could depend on to cheer him up.
Would they greet the lost son with arms wide open or shun him? Snapping back into reality he looked at Elisabeth then back to Elesia, he wasn't sure if Elesia would ask to go see Illia with her or not. Elesia was just unpredictable to him still. "No, you can keep it" Hal responded to Elisabeth's question. "If you two are ready, I'll lead the way out."

Elesia piped up after thinking so hard for a moment that the smoke was nearly visible. "This can be our little secret!" This was her best idea ever. The - valuable and legendary treasures we found here will serve us well in the future, but their power could overwhelm the minds and hearts of weaker mortals, who aren't as awesome as us." She was so excited it was impossible to tell if the forest waif was being sarcastic or honest to Elimine serious.
"My vast wealth, Hal's... umm... stabby thing and his... legendary armor... and Lizzy's..." She trailed off, eyeing the battered mandolin with a critical gaze that betrayed exactly how little she expected from it. Not that she knew what the hell it even was in the first place, but it was definitely something music-ey. "...Well maybe you can whack someone over the head with it or something." THAT was seriously the nicest thing she could think of to say about it? Elesia kinda regeetted that, but... seriously, that thing was disappointing even by her standards. At least she could polish Hal's junk until it shone. That instrument was a goner, but it felt like it'd be mean to say it to Elisabeth's face.
And maybe winglady was a super genius about fixing that stuff and could make it work? "Liz if you ever get that working you should totally show me! I bet you're great at that." She was grinning again, it was hard not to be in a good mood given that even if there hadn't been THAT much adventure at least they had all gotten something awesome out of it.

Hal was being over ran by mixed emotions. Ever since meeting Elesia he couldn't help to think about his little sisters since the girl reminded him so much of her, then helping defend the two cities against the plague of undead caused him to wonder what would happen if that took place in his home town, then meeting the guy who said it was occupied by rebels. Hal didn't speak the entire time the trio had traveled outside of the cave, meeting Elisabeth and hearing her say she was going home caused Hal to make up his mind.
The moment he left the cave he walked to Sol and began to prep him to leave. "I'm going to my home in Bern, you're free to join me if you like." He said that to nobody in particular.

"I dunno, it'd make a pretty lousy club." She weighed the instrument in hand. "It's hollow and everything. More of a paddle then anything." She shrugged. "Or maybe I can burn it for firewood. That way it'll at least keep me warm." She smiled with a sarcastic tone in her voice. She looked at Elesia for a moment, then to Hal, whom promptly sort of left without warning. Which, of course, meant that their time was probably over. Which was fine and well and everything, he was sure that he was ecstatic to finally be done with this place. Lisa felt bad for his friends though. Oh, whoops. 'Friends', need the sarcastic air quote or what's the point? Anyways, they're pretty much doomed to wander around here for all eternity. They'll probably look for Hal, and not find him anywhere. Maybe they'll get worried, maybe they won't, Lisa didn't know. She wasn't planning on sticking around to find out either.
"I'm sure I'll be alright at it." She would probably be about average. "If we meet again, and I get it working, you can count on it. Though it's kind of awful, and I wouldn't look forward to it actually working this side of the era." She shrugged again as she looked at the way out. She was quiet for a moment before sighing. "You should probably go after him. He's your friend right?" Elisabeth was trying to be positive, smiling and that sort of thing. "Be well Elesia, and tell Hal to take care of himself. If you're even in Edessa, stop by. Assuming I'm there. I might not be. In fact I probably won't be. My invitation means nothing I know. Whatever, I'm holding you up. Goodbye."

Elesia felt like she was missing something, some critical facet of the conversation that was going entirely over her head. More so than usual, anyways. Hal was leaving totally randomly, she didn't understand why he didn't want to stick around at all and be friends with Lizzy, and Lizardbath seemed surprisingly ok with it, like she didn't actually care or whatever. Just didn't make sense, they had totally solved the mystery of - whatever they had come here for, she couldn't remember and didn't really care - and now they should be celebrating! Or, uh, breaking apart. That was cool too.
Elisabeth didn't even seem to really want her to stick around, which made her kinda sad and mad and a little hurt, but maybe liz didn't like them that much? Maybe Liz and Hal didn't like each other that much for some reason? She didn't really get it, but without much of an idea what else to do Elesia immediately defaulted to reflex, darting in to give Elisabeth a quick hug, swift as a coursing river, with all the force of a - well a gentle breeze anyways, before hopping backwards like a disco ninja frog. "I - uhm, okay, but I'll find you again sometime, Lizzy! Real heroes are bound by HEARTs, and... stuff." Speeches were hard. Also, she had no idea what she was trying to say. "But seriously we're gonna meet again, I can feel it in my butt!"
...That was the idiom, right?
Waving wildly, she turned and dashed after Hal, assuming he had a REALLY GOOD plan to be ditching her like that or she was gonna set HIM on fire.
