Name: Kale Harte
Class*: Thief-->Assassin
Hair Color: Light Blue
Eye Color: Purple
Age: 17
Appearance: Kale is about 5’7’’ tall. He has a very lean build with little muscle. His face is often coated in flecks of dirt.
Clothes: Kale wears a dark brown, long-sleeved linen shirt with a sleeveless black vest on top. His pants are made of navy-blue fabric, and he wears brown leather boots.
Born in**: Laus (Lycia)
Story***: Kale’s father was a shoemaker. Growing up in Laus, the Harte family never had much money to their name. Their family trade garnered very little profit for the family, but for a single married couple and their mute son, it was easy enough to keep food on the table.
Kale made many attempts to attend public school during his childhood, efforts made difficult by his inability to speak. Other children saw him as slow-teachers, upon finishing lectures to the class, would then give a smaller lecture to him in “baby talk”, assuming that he was unable to understand the bigger words. Unable to say a single word in his defense, Kale began to skip school frequently to avoid the constant mockery of his disability, eventually coming across a group of teenage pickpockets. Kale watched as the eldest of the group swiped a wallet from some wealthy man on the streets. Upon noticing Kale's stare, they explained to Kale that their actions as thieves allowed them to take money from those who “didn’t deserve it” in order to provide for their own families. As his clothes denoted one of remarkably low class, the boys decided that Kale could benefit to tag along with them, and thus gave Kale an offer Kale to join their group, which Kale accepted.
Eventually, Kale came to discover that the pickpockets, consisting mainly of lower class children, were almost an organization for heir own. They worked together, shared what they didn't need, and readily accepted those who looked like they could use the help. They believed that the upper-class got rich on the backs of the poor, using money that didn't belong to them, and thus felt that their actions couldn't be called "stealing", but simply taking back what belonged to them.
As Kale continued to work with them, he soon found himself with little to no trouble keeping food on the table for his family. His newfound friends helped him to hide the truth of where the money came from, and even posed as classmates to continue the illusion that Kale still went to school.
At age fifteen, Kale was out stealing amongst the crowds alongside his companions when the first wave of dark creatures invaded Laus. Kale didn’t quite see what happened within the city, but when the first screams rang out and the sound of bloodshed echoed through the streets, Kale didn’t care about what was happening—all that mattered was putting as much distance between him and “it” as fast as possible. As he sprinted through the panic-ridden city, he stopped in his father’s old shop, finding no sign of his parents. Assuming that they had fled the shop and managed to escape the city, he followed suit, squeezing out through the city gates and running as far away as he could…
For the next two years, Kale spent his time wandering across Lycia, using his skills as a thief just to get by, but all the while, searching for signs of his parents and the boys he had been separated from during his escape from Laus.
