Story: Shugoshi is a young lad born in Bern. His real name is Shugo, but he calls himself Shugoshi as he thought the name was more regal. Shugoshi is the son of a blacksmith and a tailor. His mother shaped iron and steel into armor while his father weaved cloth into beautiful dresses and robes. Shugoshi himself studdied a bit in both trades as each parent wanted him to take up their job. On many occasions his parent’s tried woe him to their trade, by crafting him items. His father made fine silk shirts and his mother made him armor. Shugoshi however was never truly interested in neither of their trades as the boy had wanderlust beyond measure.
Shugoshi spent most of his childhood reading. He read stories about warriors and kings. He read tales of honor, and of bravery. He read book on tactics and manuals of weaponry. At one point his mother thought she had the upper hand, but when they asked the boy what did he wanted to do he simply replied he wanted to be a king.
At the time his parents simply laughed, but unknown to them that was Shugoshi greatest desire. Everything he did from that point was to prepare himself for the hardship. He had read many stories of evil Mercenateis and dastardly bandits attempting to take over kingdoms, and every time he rooted for them. In the end however they always failed. After he finished each story he would note their down falls. This was a skill he developed from his father. The tailor’s greatest weapon was his data book, and for Shugoshi this was his.
On Shugoshi tenth birthday his mother decided it would be a good idea to take the boy with her to a market a town over. There they mined metal and shaped iron into swords. His mother thought it would be a good idea to show her son the basic of the trade as a way to pull him into the blacksmithing trade. She even went as far as to forge him his own armor to butter him up.
Shugoshi wore the armor made by his mother while they traveled with a merchant caravan. The boy was truly excited to be on the trip. However as the caravan passed in the mountains they were spotted by a group of bandit scouts. The bandits saw the boy wearing armor and assumed he was a noble’s son. They tailed the caravan till it reached the next city, and attached the guards on the opposite end of the town. As the guards scrambled to rally against the enemies at the opposite gate. The bandits sent in an elite amongst their group to kidnap the boy amongst the chaos.
Shugoshi struggled, but burly orange hair bandit was far too strong for the boy to handle. The brigand knocked the boy out and carried him away before his mother even noticed his absence. As he left the town he lit a signal informing the other bandits that it was time to retreat. As fast as they attacked they were gone. The bandits took the young boy back to their hide out and were planning on beating information about his family out of him, but cruel fate ended their plans. Their hide out was attacked by illian soldiers and was burned to the ground. Shugoshi managed to escape in the chaos and survive the attack.
After the battle Shugoshi wondered around the battle field. Lost and separated from his parents Shugoshi decided that this would be a perfect opportunity to start on his dream. He pulled an iron lance out the corpse of a bandit, and began to descend down a path. He hope to one day returned home to his parents not as a boy, but as a king. A childish dream that one cannot simply ignore, Shugoshi wonders the land seeking both strength and fame.
