Okay, so after looking over both thief promotes extensively on this site and on the fire emblem wiki I've had an idea:
Give Rogues Bows.
My argument:
- Rogues are completely outclassed by assassins in every way, on this site it does not say but assassins in game can still use lockpicks and in some games can even steal upon promoting from thief. Rogues have the ability pick, yes, but having an assassin that can still use a lockpick and kill just about anything (unlike a rogue) make the class change to rogue unfortunately useless.
- In game the caps between the two are exactly the same, but a rogue has no bonus to crit, and lower growth percentages than an assassin. On the site, i'm fairly certain stats do not come into play, but the fact that the growths are vastly in favor to the assassin doesn't justify the rogue's pick ability to out weigh its weaknesses. This is especially so when an assassin can do a rogue's job nearly as well, or just as well, when being much more combat effective.
- Rogues are not normally a class associated with combat, but even in non-combat scenarios i feel a bow will help the class as a whole. Shooting grapple hooks to scale the wall of a heavily guarded fortress filled with loot, shooting the pressure plate of a trap so they can get to the treasures behind it without being harmed by troublesome poison darts or fire traps.
- On the site they still have the pick ability, however all lockpicks are limitless in use... SO WHAT'S THE POINT? Bows would diversify the thief promote tree, and add a useful ability while taking away a nearly useless one such as pick...
The Against Argument:
"No" - Edrick
- It may be used to death in combat.
- It could become overpowered in some instances.
- There is already a bow/sword class.
Thanks for the read through, whoever reads this.
