Synkkis wasn't sure if Vivian was trying to get under his skin with that comment, but he disregarded it. He needed to keep his head clear if they were going to react to anymore creatures like that. He had his rope in his hand again, marking his path. However, he was starting to get a good mental picture of this mine.
However, when they moved into the next area, they were definitely not in a mine anymore. The giant chamber looked to be architecturally impossible for how deep underground they were. There must have been some sort of strong magic at play, here. He could feel it vibrating in the air. "Roin... I'd like to know more about what led you here." he said faintly, looking at the details of the large chamber. He spotted an altar in the center of the area and it seemed like the source of what was flowing through the air.
Underneath his wrappings on his right hand he could feel a dull burning sensation on where he had his tattoos. However, it was an alleviated feeling... not typically one of absolute pain. While the party wasn't looking he tugged at his wrapping, looking inside. A bit of smoke trailed out of the top, but nothing too noticeable that the others would catch on to. Readjusting his wrapping, he looked forwards. They'd be at a chance of being too spread out if they were to move forward at equal intervals and if they were too close, they may all fall into a trap.
"Roin. Do we push forward? We should have Vivian or I stand here to guarantee an escape if necessary. That is until we make sure this chamber is clear." He dropped his rope at the entrance and pulled out his tome just to be ready. What was this place built for? Who built it? these sorts of thoughts raced through his mind as he was intimidated by it all. "Careful. I sense something very strong." he said cautiously.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it." he said in an annoyed tone. He picked up one of the skeleton's clubs and offered it to Vivian. "Hey, could this work as one of your torches?" he asked with a smile on his face. He liked the idea of contributing to them travelling through the mine. He looked it over and saw that it could've caught fire through normal means, but it looked like it could be a slow burn.
He was a little startled as they got to a huge room. He saw the altar right away and it reminded him of Synkkis and their father back at home, where they did all sorts of weird stuff together as their father and son time. But this one looked way bigger and crazier. Who the hell would put one of these down here? Who would make a room this big underground? It seemed there were crazier people making their way into Ilia these days. Seeing his brother pull out his tome, he knew it was best to draw his sword. "Alright, Syn. Don't you worry about me watching out this time. I've got it." he said softly.

Roin was quiet, letting them all ask questions. Finally, he turned to offer a comforting smile to Vivian, as he was sure she needed it more than the rest. "Don't worry. If such a beast is here, I will see that you are not harmed, Vivian." With that, he looked to Syn, picking up on his curious nature of the place. He'd not see to ask now, but the question came if they should push forward. It was a good one, but as Roin turned his gaze to the altar, he simply sighed.
"We always push forward...wait if you wish for safety, but I will lead the way."
Carefully grabbing his sword with his good arm, he turned it over in his hand before giving it a preparatory swing. One-handed, he'd need to be careful for a while long, but otherwise his swings would still hurt any opponent. Once he was satisfied, he began moving into the center of the chamber. His steps were slow, but loudly echoed through the chamber. As he neared the altar, Roin took yet another look around. It was quiet, but the worry was setting in. What was this place?
"It appears safe...but what on Elibe could this place be for?"
Moving onto the altar, using the low steps to steadily climb up. Once at the top of it, he moved to the raised pedestal that was no doubt for the actual offerings. They'd see him make a face. On it was some kind of dark, almost black fur. Carefully reaching to it, he grabbed and lifted it for them to see, a frown on his face. It was a large sample, thicker than most wolf pelts. It was no doubt from the rumored, dark wolves.
"I think we're dealing with something more than just the average necromancer...if this fiend is really here...it's stronger than I thought."

"R-right...right! Just checking, dude! I'm not afraid or anything...you guys can count on me!" Well, she tried her best to put on a brave front, but she couldn't stand snakes, no matter how big or small they were...and now there are big CREATURES that are snake-like now?! It was like someone tossed her into a pit of all of her worst nightmares and the fool's giggling from above while just throwing more stuff down to scare her. Okay, this time her weird imagination was somewhat called for since she was afraid, but didn't want to admit it. What was next? A giant murder-spider monster?
...Wait, weren't those real?
She shook her head at the thought as her long braid swung back and forth in the process. At least Alaric's apparent desire to help out was enough to take her mind off the creepy stuff for a while. When offered the club, she took it with rather high enthusiasm before examining it for a bit. "Huh...ya know, I've NEVER tried lighting a club on fire before! Dude, I've GOT to try this! I think--" she had to temper her enthusiasm a bit, remembering the LAST TIME she tried to light something up as a torch without knowing what would happen, giving off a rather panicky expression now as she handed the club back to the swordsman. "Hehe, uh...on second thought, forget it. The entire club might...catch on fire. Bottom part included!" She didn't want to be blamed if the guy burned his hand!
She realized Roin was investigating the altar, hearing him broadcast his thoughts after watching him pick something up. Panicking a bit, she nearly dropped her own torch. "OMIGOSH! Is it like...snake skin or something?!" Clearly it wasn't since, you know...it was fur...and black at that. But when she panicked, all since of logic just escaped her entirely. She managed to get a grip of herself, swinging back and forth as she looked into another direction with a big, goofy smile. "Uhhhh, yeah...ignore that."

Synkkis moved forward with the Sacaen, slightly offended by his words. He'd rather not spring any traps if he could help it. It was better to be cautious when it came to elder magic. He knew that first 'hand'.
Then Roin just had to mess with the altar. Did the fool not understand magic? Thankfully nothing became of it as he took the offering off the table. He had kept his eyes around them, trying to be ready for anything. Looking for a moment as to what he picked up, he immediately recognized it as Doomwolf fur. He let his concentration slip for a moment to take a closer look at it. He touched the fur and realized it was much more coarse than a regular wolf's. It was fairly thick as well, almost like leather. "No, this is Doomwolf fur. It's been tanned and cured as well. Interesting..." he trailed off, examining the other side of the pelt.
The pupil set his tome onto the altar as he spent his time looking at the details and soaking them in. Internally he was thinking he could put good use to this... it'd make a good replacement for his now broken pauldron. Synkkis took his mind off the moment, not paying too much attention to much.

His club absolutely rejected, Alaric tossed it back in the corridor they came in from with a bit of disappointment. He wasn't really sure what he could do to help out and kind of make up for everyone getting ticked at him. Maybe laying low was better off than actively trying to get on their good sides. What a bother.
Everyone moving into the chamber, he had the brilliant idea to light his pipe again now that they were in a larger room. It wouldn't mess with anyone trying to breathe and it'd help take the edge off from earlier. He really needed it. Striking a match, the swordsman took a few puffs of his wooden pipe, tampering with the nest of tobacco to make sure it was lit nicely. Walking a few steps past the altar, he clearly saw the other doorway. "Hey, so are we going or what?" he asked, pointing his sword ahead.

Roin looked to Syn as the man quietly set his gaze upon his work. However, he did looked to Alaric a moment after at his question.
"Of course. But maybe-"
He stopped, feeling a chill through the room as something started their way. Then, a single noise stood out. A long, quiet hiss, then a voice from the tunnel Alaric stood in-front of, the chamber filling with the voice of a woman, yet the sound alone was almost like a snake's hiss.
"Ssso...who daresss enter my domain?"
The path tunnel Alaric was near suddenly lit up, a stack of tomes in under one arm of the strange creature. As she snaked her way into the tunnel, she simply smiled as she overlooked the group and rose. She was mostly snake, her snake half easily longer than any snake on Elibe yet as wide and muscular as a horse easily. Her upper half narrowed into the lithe form of a woman, however, black bindings wrapping her chest. Her hair was carefully in a bundle behind her, the ends snapping at the air as she smirked to both Syn and Roin, her voice soft.
"Get down carefully, you two...lessst you force my hand to dessstroy the four of you intrudersss..."
She looked once more to Alaric, waving him toward the now backing-up Roin. It was clear this creature was a threat, especially with the Sacean backing up. Her size alone, with most of her form resting behind her, made her stand easily two heads over Alaric and Roin alike. On top of that, the tomes under her arm were likely not for show, but rather the art of casting vile magic. However, her eyes fell once more toward the altar, her voice low.
"You mortalsss are all the sssame...ssso...feeble. I had intended to sssummon more of the beassst'sss kind...but the fact you four sssurvived my trap isss proof enough you are...ssstronger than it wasss."
Within a blink, she whipped her form about, quickly crossing the distance to the altar and, curling around one of the pillars, rose high over the group to watch them closely. Roin had backed up and to the ground by now, cursing under his breath. A woman with a snake body was one thing. This fiend was easily twice his size with her snake half and clearly a magic user just from the strange air she gave off. The best they could do was try to avoid a fight if possible. Or, at least, a direct fight. Such a fiend would give the four of them quite the hassle...

A chill went up her spine as the disturbing sounds and words were echoing from behind. When Vivian turned around and saw the large snake lady, a sweat drop immediately fell as she dropped the torch out of surprise, though it still lit the area. "WAAAAAAH?! SNAAAAAKE!" She shrieked in terror, taking closer hold of her tome immediately as she was just about ready to blast the thing at any moment's notice. She just HAD to mention the big snake thing earlier, didn't she? She had a feeling it was her fault for broaching the subject that this thing came slithering in there RIGHT when they got in. It didn't help that she was creepy looking out of this world AND with all those tomes, she was apparently...a prrrrretty dangerous magic user. Baaaaaad day.
When she twisted herself around the pillar and just creeping her out even more as she stared down on them, she didn't know how to react. She almost wanted to pass out due to the fear, but then she'd leave the guys hanging. After all, this thing looked...pretty dangerous. You know what? "pretty" wasn't even the correct way to add onto it. She wasn't exaggerating enough...maybe UTTERLY and FREAKISHLY dangerous were better terms? Yeah, that fit A LOT better.
"...Y-y-you better go and...uh...just slippy-slide away, b-before we get angry, lady!...erm...thing." Her rather poor attempt at scaring something SHE'S afraid of was rather obvious and she doubted 100% that it would work, but gosh, she had to try something to get out of fighting the thing. What's worst, even Roin seemed a little on the edge, and that was the last thing they needed. If she would have remembered this snake thing earlier, she would have just taken getting mauled by the zombies if she was going to die HERE of all places.
"Aaaah...I REALLY hate snakes...please, please, please, PLEASE, if anyone hears my plea...make the snake-lady go poof...or SOMETHING!" She was actually shivering now, speaking to herself as she closed her eyes at a rather poor attempt in making the impossible possible.

The shaman's ears perked up as he heard a hissing sound that seemed to slip into the far reaches of his head. It sent shivers down his spine until he hopped off the altar and shoved the pelt into his satchel. With the other hand he flipped his tome open, making ready to cast a spell. He knew he was the slowest of anyone to get a spell off or let it hit its target, so he had it in his head as a reflex to start summoning the moment he sensed trouble.
It was trouble, all right. He finally figured out what the Sacaen was blathering about... it was a Gorgon. These were the subjects of nightmare stories told to children, monsters that could turn you to stone if you lied or crushed your fingers if you stole. However, reality was much more heinous and sinister at this present moment.
He chanted to himself, the words almost mumbled and hushed, but very precise words could be heard... however it was all gibberish to the untrained ear. Months and years of painful memorization brought him here. He now intended to strike the enemy before anything more could happen. He'd have to focus on not getting hit by the Gorgon as it was an extremely dangerous elder magic user... dwarfing Synkkis' own skills tremendously. He wasn't going to go down without a fight and he knew the advantage would be with them if they struck first and hard.
"Bo asnir ko ahrk turahl!" he shouted, releasing a massive amount of dark energy towards the beast, it propelling itself forward and then spreading in every direction, fading into the darkness. If this were to hit, it'd be a repeat of last time, all of the tendrils amassing on the target, this time to crush inwards on the dastard snake.

He was looking towards Roin as he replied to him, but as soon as Roin halted to listen, he shifted back towards the altar and held his sword out towards the opening. Good thing he did so, too. A huge half-snake, half-woman slithered from the darkness speaking with an accented hiss. He knew very well of these from stories folks told to their kids, but this was nothing short of too real.
"Synkkis..." he called out, but in the corner of his eyes he saw his brother already casting. Good. He knew he could count on him to react quickly. However, behind him, he clearly heard Vivian flipping out. He felt bad for her, but they'd all wind up dead if they didn't focus. He was tempted to rush up again and start cutting the freak to pieces, but he knew the others would get ticked again. This time the rookie swordsman would wait for the Sacaen to make a move or the snake-lady. He was also half-expecting for her to pull some serpent sorcery and make their lives hell. He was ready to cut down anything that moved.
"Roin! This thing looks like it can take a pummeling. What do we do?" It didn't take long for him to notice Synkkis' attack to make its way towards her. It may be the perfect stunning attack for the two to jump in and stick her like a Nabatan kebab.

Roin had been stuck, his gaze locked on the gorgon. Her sudden appearance had the Sacean locking up. It was the first time in a while that he feared a foe. When Synkkis unleashed his magic upon the Gorgon, she simply chuckled as she threw herself from the pillar, her snake-like form slithering in flight as she easily dodged the attack. Letting some of her tomes fall, the creature smiled as she began hissing out her own magic, the cave growing darker as magic snapped and popped, a powerful spell growing. Her speed was remarkable, but Roin knew her attack would be another thing just from the amount of tomes she had with her prior to the fight.
"Damn! This spell isn't some weak attack...she could destroy us all!"
Roin gave no clue for his next move, his mind still wishing he could think of another way. Bursting into a run, he rose and jumped at the Gorgon, swinging his sword wide as he drew close. Her focus on the mage had given the yeoman his opening, his sword clipping the book and throwing it from her hand as he flew past, landing into a roll before turning to face the Gorgon. However, he wouldn't get a chance to follow it up with an attack, her thick tail swinging as she hissed at him, smacking the Yeoman like a rag-doll and tossing him through the air to slam into the cave wall. She gave a curse in her tongue before quickly snatching up a new book, her gaze falling on the three still standing.
"Foolisssh man...he dessstroyed my more powerful tome...he only bought you all more time until your deathsss."
As she whispered her spell, orbs of black, rolling energy began to form, her hand waving as she targeted the projectiles at the two men, ignoring the young mage girl and the now-still Sacean. Near the wall, Roin was still breathing, but the fact his sword had been released when he hit the ground, it was obvious the blow had stunned him enough to incapacitate him for the moment. They were on their own until he could recover. With luck, the destroyed tome would allow them a more fair fight.

With all of this crap going on all at once, it was a little difficult for the purple-haired mage to keep up with it all. The Synkkis guy suddenly blasted the thing, Alaric's trying to do something, and Roin...well, he looked like he's seen better days. But the gorgon was the one doing all this crazy and zippy movement that she was almost ticked off after hearing it speak. Still, that didn't mean she wasn't scared senseless. The snake-lady gave her the creeps and every time she had the unfortunate look of staring dead at it, the chills kept running down her spine. If only she could use that fear into her fire balls and try to kill the thing...if she could. Just thinking about getting the thing's attention creeped her out.
...But then something unexpected happened. She actually ignored her! Vivian didn't know whether to be happy and go hide behind a rock or get extremely pissed off. She kinda wanted to lean more on the former, but it was a little insulting to her that she wasn't really viewed as much of a threat...okay, MAYBE that was her fault for cowering over the thing, but she couldn't allow the brothers to fend this thing off alone...and she hated being ignored anyway. Her tome opened up immediately to the page she wanted, her hand beside her as the sphere of flames gathered fiercely.
"Hey, Nasty! Forgetting something?! With one twirl around, she released the fast ball towards the gorgon's head, taking advantage of her...it casting it's spell. Hopefully it suffered from the weakness of pausing after a spell...but given that it was a monster, she had a scary feeling it DIDN'T. However, she had to try!

Shocked at how his spell had no effect, Synkkis wasn't sure what he could do to harm the Gorgon. Roin jumped in, the strongest of the group, but he was just slapped across the room like a ball in some game. The shaman wasn't even sure if he survived such a hit. He dashed to the side and dove towards the ground, narrowly avoiding the hit that seemed to suck the oxygen out of the air around him as it exploded. Once more he jumped back up and ran towards Roin. If he was alright they could continue the fight, but if he was incapacitated they would have to leave and come back with a larger party. Such evil couldn't be allowed to just sit... or could it? Now was not the time to figure that out. "Roin! Up!" he shouted, preparing another spell, but honestly very ready to dodge another attack.

For how much this big, bad Gorgon thought she was, she was pretty slow or basically let it show every time she let loose an attack. The young swordsman shifted to the side with a bit of a leap in his step and then charged forward. He knew he'd get trashed if he got hit by anything this monster dished out, so speed and good foot-work would be his security. "I've gotcha, Vivian. Let's take this freak out!" he shouted as he dashed forward, doing what he could to catch her attention. He held his sword outwards, making a few repeated attempts to slice at her if the opportunity arose.

(OOC: Since Roin's MIA at the moment, I'll take control of the Gorgon temporarily.)
The massive snake-lady hissed as Vivi's fire ball hurled at her. A quick jolt of the giant creature's head was able to allow the sphere of flame to zip past her and hit a pillar in the process. "...Fine, little wench. Sssssso be it." She was about ready to fire another round of projectiles at Vivian, but then Alaric approached her in a relentless move. Sine he came at her rather suddenly, there wasn't much she could do but wiggle around a bit, but his sword managed to leave cut on her scaly skin, hissing again as she glared at the sword fighter from above him. "Ssssstupid boy!"
Seeing this for herself, Vivian resisted the urge to facepalm a bit, but she couldn't blame the kid for trying. If Roin got his breath taken away from that one smack, they had to at least try something while he was down and out of the fight. However, the Yeoman did give them somewhat of a fighting chance now, as she took note that he managed to destroy that terrifyingly powerful tome the she-thing had in per possession. Still, it was quite irritating to deal with considering it's size and even though it wasn't the most agile of combatants, it sure was flexible as hell to twist and turn with such grace and ease...even for a nasty snake. But that's what made them creepy! Even though she was slow, the gorgon's flexibility made up for it, which is why it wasn't too surprising that she dodged most of the brother's attacks.
"Ah! Alaric, watch out!" Vivian shouted out as she noticed the gorgon twist her snake half around and went for a tail whip towards the sword fighter. Vivian wasn't certain that the kid could dodge that at point blank range considering how large the tail was...and if he was going to be all right from the impact considering what it did to Roin. She just had to prevent it from hitting him altogether. Thinking quickly, she threw weak, fast ball of flame after a quick cast of her fire tome, the fire ball going straight between the area of collision between the tail and Alaric's side. The fire ball smacked the tail and even though it didn't deal serious damage since the mage didn't place much power into it, the fire ball hurt enough for the snake lady to retract her tail and screech out in annoyance, glaring the purple haired woman from a distance...
"Eeep!" Vivian's shoulders rolled back and she curled up a bit out of fear as she decided not to meet the gaze completely. However, she did save Alaric the trouble of dodging that tail, so that was the good part. She hesitantly looked over her shoulder to see how Synkkis and Roin were doing...well, the latter was still down, but the other seemed fine, hoping to have some form of back-up before the Gorgon does something else, like attacking either of them again.
