Roin not being responsive, and Synkkis not knowing much in the way of healing or medical stuff, he let Roin lay where he was. Otherwise they'd both get blasted to bits by the Gorgon. He saw his brother bravely squaring off with the monster and was saved narrowly by Vivian's quick spellcasting. He moved away from Roin towards the central altar and started casting once more, drawing the lines together from memory and infusing them with his will. He was surprised his memory was serving him well in this grave situation, getting the incantation down without a hitch.
The tactician figured, if they could hit her from all three sides, then she'd have to get hit by at least one of them. Her attacks were too powerful, so getting hit by one wasn't an option. With the altar as protection, Synkkis had a little bit more of a chance of dodging one of her attacks. Synkkis' attack wasn't a strong one, but it had a much larger area than he typically had his attacks, to account for her size and maneuverability. The arms of the flux flowed towards where her legs would be if she were human to try and snag her or put her into a panic dodge.
"This should buy the others some time." he spoke to himself, keeping his mind on manipulating the volatile and inky black magic. He couldn't shout out to his brother with tactical information because the Gorgon would just nullify it, but he held onto hope he'd continue pestering her and getting attacks in. More importantly, that he wouldn't get hit.

The novice managed to get some cuts and stabs in, yes, but the snake-lady was really quick and slippery. He couldn't stay in one place at once and it was hard to read her movements. He made a fault and was about to be smacked clear across the room just as Roin had, but Vivian managed to narrowly save him. His brother throwing an attack in, he decided now would be a great time to focus all of their attacks at once. Something's gotta hit. He threw a flurry of stabs and swings at the monster, trying to push her up against the wall. The Gorgon was dying a slow death of a million cuts, but it seemed he didn't have the punch to really knock her out by himself. He hoped that the magic would do the trick.

With all the pressure on the Gorgon from all sides, it was time for Vivi to play her part in this. With Syn and Alaric almost pressing her up against the wall, she had the perfect opening. It was now or never. And since this thing was quite the slippery one, she could easily attack Alaric again and counter Syn from where she stood. But Vivian was going to change that so that little possibility would cease to exist. If she rushed another fast ball, it wouldn't be strong enough to inflict some serious damage. So instead, Vivian turned another page in her tome and began conjuring a larger fire ball, the channeling of the fire spirits taking a little longer than usual due to her placing more power into it. Quick casting was her thing, but in order to hurt something far out of her league, she had to pull out all the stuff.
The monster in particular suffered a cut from Alaric's sword while it was stuck in place momentarily by being caught under Syn's Flux. Perfect. Vivian was in the perfect position, and Alaric keeping the Gorgon on it's feet while it slithered backwards away from him worked in her favor. None of her allies were in her line of fire, so even if it missed, neither of them would be hit by the large fire ball. But it was ready. With a large swing of her arm, the large fire ball sped towards the Gorgon, aimed straight towards the center of it's body. It noticed the giant ball of heat coming towards it, but realized that it had finally been cornered and no way out. A hiss escaped her before the fire ball smashed onto the center of her body, collapsing to the ground for a moment as it...seemed like it was hurt badly from the attack.
"W-whaaaa?" It was getting right back up! Vivian was a bit awestruck, the attacking being direct, but the Gorgon must have had quite the resistance to magic. How in the world were they supposed to kill the thing?! Well, she was fresh out of ideas! She was near the altar too, so the purple haired mage rushed over to Syn as fast as she could while the Gorgon was shaking off the spell. "Ummm...so, what now? That thing took two spells and a barrage of attacks head on...!"

The tendrils of Synkkis' attack may had a lot of strength behind them, but he just couldn't control and focus them. They did their job of distracting her, but he just couldn't manage to land a solid blow. When Vivian's powerful flame attack smashed right into her, all it did was knock the wind out of her. If the Gorgon had this much resistance, just what could they do? It seemed Alaric's attacks were the only ones making good headway, bleeding the Gorgon to death.
Turning to Vivian, Synkkis sighed. "There's no way we can defeat her by slapping some more spells at it. All we can do now is retreat..." he said in a defeated tone. He braced himself against one of the three pillars that held the room together and a large chip came loose, the tiling on the ceiling cracking. Hold on, this whole place is practically falling apart without the aid of magic. "My brother and I will keep the Gorgon busy. I need you to focus your attacks on these three pillars. They should give out without too much trouble." he ordered, feeling confident in this strategy. "We'll have to grab Roin on the way out. There's no way we can defeat this creature by normal means." The gravity of the situation hung heavy in the air.

(OOC: Just a little reaction post. And you're both free to control the Gorgon too, if you'd like.)
Vivi listened to Syn carefully, at first unable to catch onto the plan until she realized the pillars supported the place. With a big smirk, she knew her magic could do just the trick. "Gotcha! You guys be careful against that thing!" Guess the one Synkkis was previously leaning up against would be a good starting point, though she had to make the fire ball bigger again. Her fast balls lacked destructive force, and she also needed to give herself a little distance between the pillars and herself. Her fire balls were somewhat momentum-based when it came to damage, so the further away she was, the better the chance the pillars would crumble. She noticed the Gorgon had mostly regained most of it's senses from the barrage of attacks she suffered, meaning she didn't have much time to waste.
With a nod to Synkkis, she jumped back a few times before conjuring up another fire ball. She wasn't quite ready to release it yet, but she looked across the room as she remembered the plan to bolt out of here with Roin, seeing the collapsed Yeoman against the wall. She usually had good aim, but hopefully she didn't miss the pillar and...accidentally hit the guy. Ehhhhh...he's shown to be a tough guy, so it wouldn't kill him, at least! B-but, it was better to avoid that altogether. She didn't want to have a story to explain afterwards.

A bright flash hit the snake lady, but it was pretty much just a damn light show as she shrugged it off. He ought to just wring her neck like a regular snake, but she was just too tall. Taking a bit of a breather, he wiped the sweat off his brow. No use getting sluggish now. He could actually feel himself getting a little more handy with the sword as he swung at her and made connecting blows, even if they didn't do much to her. Apparently she had a high defense against her brother's and Vivian's magic attacks. It was up to him to slay the beast! Who needed Roin anyways, the lazy sod? "Hrrrraaagghh!" Alaric let loose a battlecry, knowing he had to go in and finish her by himself.
He connected a few blows on her, but she seemed a little disinterested. She started moving towards the altar where Synkkis and Vivian were. "Sssso, you think you can jusssst get away!?" she hissed, weaving closer to the pair. Alaric sprinted towards her, but she whipped her tail back and he barely dodged out of the way, falling to the ground. "Damned snake, thinking it can just do what it wants in my homeland. It's got another thing comin'!" he shouted to himself, picking himself off the ground. He wouldn't let her get away!

With what Synkkis lacked in skill to maneuver the tendrils of his flux attack, he made up for in speed, raw power, and a bit of luck. In that speed, he dashed across the room catching the Gorgon's attention as he launched a diverting flux attack in-between Vivian and the Gorgon. Thankfully, it worked. "You don't want me going back here, do you?" he mocked as the snake raced towards him. He stood next to the mysterious doorway that led further into the mine and the threat of him escaping her was enough to have her bolt towards him. "Ssssstay away from there, human filth!" she shrieked, readying another dark, explosive attack.
As he backed up, his foot bumped into something on the ground. As he took his eyes off the Gorgon for a moment he saw it was one of the tomes she had dropped. It was covered in dust and as such had no time to look more at it. "A coward and a thief! I'll kill you firssssst!" she boasted as she cast the large ball of inky black magic at him. Only seeing it approach him that he saw that it was Flux - the same as he carried. With the extra tome, he jumped out of the way of the attack, the shock of the blast knocking him flat against the ground. The disheartening difference in their levels of power was astonishing. "Verdammt..." Synkkis groaned as he tried to regain his stamina.

Jeez, that was freakin' close. A moment there and the Gorgon was going to attack her...or eat her! But the brothers have her distracted as planned and it was now time to start knocking down these pillars. Her biggest fire ball was ready...and since she had sufficient spacing between herself and the closest one, she realized the raging sphere of flame as it zoomed off with impressive speed. With a forceful collision, it struck the pillar successfully...the very center of it becoming nothing but dust. That was one out of three down! But she had to get a move on it. Looking over her shoulder, the brothers wouldn't be able to keep that distraction up for very long. She probably needed about another minute or two at best. So she jumped right back to work, making her way to the second-most pillar while trying not to grab the Gorgon's attention.
Once she stood where she needed to, she quickly began conjuring up her next fire ball. Jeez...if only she could summon more than one fire ball at once, she'd make quicker work of these pillars. Times like these make her wish she had a Thunder tome already. Strange thing was that it could be used indoors...how the hell did that even work? Bah! Vivi, concentrate! The more she thought about crazy stuff, the longer it'd take to form this blasted sphere. However, this was giving her more time to use the larger fire balls as compared to her smaller fast balls, so the second sphere didn't take as long as the first to be fully conjured. She let the giant ball rip, aimed straight towards the second pillar.

The crash of searing hot flame smashing into the pillar caught the attention of the Gorgon and had her turn and react to it. This in combination with her encountering Synkkis had excluded the young swordsman from her mind. With a precise strike, Alaric managed to get a good stab in where he figured she was weakest, the human half of her body. His sword slashed and broke down on her right forearm, breaking the bone and opening up a huge gash since it was not armored. "Hah! Take that, you wench!" Alaric shouted out with triumph as it was the first good hit he was able to land.
The reaction from the Gorgon was intense. Her tail flailed about, and she thrashed about, trying to squish the small swordsman. No intelligible response could be heard over the cries, shrieks, and growling of anger. Alaric dashed behind a pillar just in time as the Gorgon striked at it, bringing it down. However, Alaric was hit in the process and got knocked back some considerable distance. Pulling himself together, he spit out the blood that pooled in his mouth and smiled uneasily. He realized the pillar saved him from being hit as hard as Roin did. "Yo, Vivian! What are you doing?" he asked, noticing she wasn't even really facing the Gorgon with the spell in her hand.
Picking up his sword once more, he certainly felt weaker and slower than before after taking that hit. He didn't have the faith in himself to pull off another attack like that or be able to dodge much more of her attacks.

Taking full advantage of her berserk state, Synkkis brought himself up to his feet and pocketed the mystery tome. Seeing two of the pillars brought to nothing, he realized it was time to grab Roin and go. Sprinting towards the knocked-cold Sacaen, he pulled his body over his shoulders. He noticed the arrows in his quiver didn't fall out as they were held in by a friction design. Interesting. Anyways now was not the time, as he struggled forward carrying the man who was heavier than him. He didn't go far before he realized he had no way to react to any strikes from the Gorgon or concentrate enough to cast any spells as he carried him. "Let's get on out of here!" he shouted, the ceiling starting to crumble.
He realized Roin's belt dug into his wounded shoulder and the pain was nearly unbearable as it annoyed him out of his wits. "Let move, damn it!" he cried out, wanting this to be all over. He didn't even care about the Gorgon anymore. He just wanted to leave. Seeing Alaric all beaten up reinforced that feeling. "Grah, I hope you appreciate this, Sacaen." he grimaced, making his way to the exit.

Well...by the time Alaric called out to her, the fire ball she released struck the third and final pillar, as the Gorgon seemed to do the honors for her by destroying the last one. That meant....yeah, this room's about to cave in reeeeeeally fast! "Weeeell, I'm about to get the freak outta here, and you should do the same. This room's about to collapse!" She shouted out from where she stood to Alaric. He was taking a beating, but he didn't look injured enough to be hindered by any quick movement. She was at least hoping to break the last pillar when both of the brothers were already making their escape together, but there was no time to dwell on that. She didn't want to be Vivi pancakes by staying here!
Since the Gorgon's been weakened, though not really dying, she doubt the monster had the strength left to escape the room in time. She wanted to run over and help Alaric escape, but he had the perfect opportunity to bolt out of there alone, so she just trusted him and decided to make a break for the exit as well, right behind Synkkis and the injured Roin, who was making escape as well. Well, this was certain a very...odd battle. Really, though. Someone must have placed a curse on her or something. Giant snake lady...that's like, literally one of her worst nightmares. And while it would have been easier on her mind to watch the monster get smashed, she also felt a little sorry for it...which, yeah. NOTHING'S CHANGED! She still feels bad. But their lives took more importance over the Gorgon's, so she had little choice but to not have any sympathy for the creature.

Wide eyed, the swordsman immediately recognized what was going on. "Ho-hoah, crap! Nope!" He could only laugh as he ran out of there, trailing right behind Vivian. Thankfully his hat didn't get lost. He'd have to dig through all that to find it again. Now out of immediate danger, he sheathed his sword and rubbed his bruised hands. It was about the time he felt all the bruises he'd gotten. He couldn't help but smile.
"Heyyyy, that was intense as hell! He commented as he hugged his brother and went to go hug Vivian. "Wow. We actually survived that. That was just a thing. Honestly, a snake chick? No one's ever going to believe us." he stated, wiping the sweat off his brow and picking up his pack that was near the entrance of the exit. "I don't think I'll be moving at all tomorrow, for sure. We should get Roin checked out, though." the black-haired Kyyneltya brother remarked. Pointing at Roin, he didn't look too good.

Laying the Sacaen down near the exit of the mine, Synkkis reached his hand up his shirt and felt his shoulder as it was swollen and bruised and cringed as the feeling stung when he tried to feel it. He would have to rest it for a few days. Hearing his brother's light-hearted comments, he could only think about how glad he was they survived and hugged his brother deeply when Alaric offered it. "You did great, Alaric. I'm proud. You really shone above in that fight." Synkkis complimented, his eyes welling up a little.
Looking down at Roin, the tome he had pilfered completely escaped his mind. "You know, you're right." he pulled off the unconscious man's gear and set it to the side. "Hey, Alaric. Let's carry him back to the village and Vivian, since you'll be going our way, could you carry his gear?" he asked. He felt bad for asking things of her when they in all honesty practically just met each other earlier.
Bumping his foot against the shattered door, Synkkis realized they could use it. "Let's put him on this. It'd probably be easier..." he mentioned, trying to get a good look at it.

Maaaan, that was close. A second later and she'd be...well, Vivi cakes. That was all crazy, but she was both glad and impressed at the same time that Synkkis' tactic worked extremely well. She didn't hear any screams of agony, but it seemed like that Gorgon was smashed like a bug. Hopefully it was dead under all that weight. And even if it didn't die, they'd be fine if they booked it out there. She was almost out of it, and didn't even expect the hug from Alaric that followed as she finally regained her senses. However, it was something to be joyous over and she was just glad none of them got flattened while getting the immobile Roin out of there, too. So she returned the offered hug in kind as she gave her usual bright smile in return, though didn't reply. She...still needed to catch her breath a little bit!
When she regained herself completely, she was given a request, which was simple and wasn't really a problem. "Of course! I'll help in anyway I can. After all, wherever you guys are going, I'll have no choice but to follow. I...kinda got lost out here..." Better to be honest than stubborn, especially at a time like this. But she agreed nonetheless as she retrieved the Yeoman's equipment. At least it all wasn't heavy to carry, but she was sure it was different to actually use this stuff like he did.

The younger brother chuckled as he received the praise from Synkkis. "Well, if it weren't for Vivian I wouldn't have been able to do any of that. She really had my back in there for sure." he jabbed his brother's side with his elbow, smiling towards Vivian. "Haha, I mean that, though... we'd probably end up like those walking bones earlier if you weren't around. Ain't that right, Syn?" he laughed.
Leaning down looking at Roin, he poked his cheek and saw he really wasn't dead for sure... He then caught on to what Synkkis was trying to do with that door he was messing with. "Yeah, yo - I've got this side. Just don't be tripping around in the snow, Syn." he playfully teased his brother in a semi-competitive manner.
