"I live in Ligure," replied Edward, his head cocking to the side. "It's a small viscounty in eastern Etruria, with some of the biggest, greenest orchards you'll ever see." The old man's eyes lit up as he spoke of the orchards that had been his old stomping grounds when he was but a boy. If there was anything Edward missed now, out gallivanting across Elibe, it was those orchards. He'd and Asthore had had a habit of taking long walks through the trees at dusk, talking of nothing more than the scattered thoughts and fleeting moods that they had encountered throughout the day. Sometimes they'd pick an especially ripe apple to share as a late evening snack. It had been there, under one of the many trees, that Edward had proposed to her, offering her his lifelong affections. He still remembered now how fast his heart had fluttered as he awaited her answer, and how high his heart had leaped in his chest when she had said yes. By the Saint, he missed her so dearly.
The old knight couldn't stifle a smile. Oh what an old man he was, still growing wistful and nostalgic for things that had happen years and years ago. Nothing on this earth could last forever, and Edward was thankful for the time the Light had gifted him with his family. He could rest easy knowing his beloved was in the arms of the Saint, and that his daughter was safe from the words and hands of the Prophet. The only thought that still weighed heavily on his mind was Gabriel, but Edward knew that even out in the world, the young man could handle himself.
So this boy's parents abandoned him. Sad. Edward knew not what for, but he could excuse no parent who did such a thing. It was fortunate that the boy had had a provider this "Ms. Kali" the boy spoke of, but she had passed on as well. So what, was he out wandering the world looking for his parents? All by himself? Edward couldn't help but be impressed if that was true. For such a young boy to survive such travels was no mean feat. Still, Edward couldn't feel sorry for the child. If he wasn't miles and miles from home, the viscount would have offered Solomon a place in his household, and taken him home, but the knight currently had no plans to head back that way.
"If you would like," he said, adopting a friendly looking smile, "you can travel with me. Heaven knows this countryside is no place for a child, especially at night." Edward stole another glance at the coastline. He may have to give up sneaking inside Tuscana if no boats arrived.

"Ligure?" Solomon tilted his head and looked up at him with wide silvery eyes. He never heard of the place, sounded pretty though. Probably not as pretty as Arcadia though! Arcadia was pretty pretty. "I never been there, but it sounds pretty." He smiled. "Maybe I'll go there one day." He added happily. He didn't know much about Elibe honestly, it was cut in like five big chunks. Lycia, which they were in, Bern which was on the right, Etruria which was the upper leftish, Sacae was in the middle, Ilia was on top, and Nabata was over in the bottom left corner. Oh wait, six big chunks. He miscounted. Oh oh, there was those islands too. Western ones? Or something like that, he's been there before. Both riding a ship where were soooooooo cooooooool! He also flew across the ocean, but that was less awesome, he liked boats more. They were fun. He's been to most of those places but Etruria, since they didn't let him in. They were like no, go away stupid kid and find your parents. What a bunch of jerks! They're like the people in this town like that.
He looked happy talking about that place, must really have been his home then. People don't get really happy about places like that easy, or at least he's never seen anyone look happy talking about a place like that if it wasn't their home. He liked his home, and it made him happy to talk about it. All his memories were there, good ones and bad ones. All people's homes were like that too he thinks, they had all their memories of it and that's why they get all happy because they remember good things that happened. Like friends and family... Family... Aww.... He needed to make sure to find his mom and dad so he could have that too! He'd take them home and make lots of happy memories!
Mr. Zobek asked if Solomon wanted to come with him, to which the boy thought over for a minute. He wasn't the first person to offer to travel with Solomon, someone sees a small dragon that looks like a human and most people ask if he's lost and if they want them to take them home. Only Mr. Zobek wasn't offering to take him home, to which he'd say no, but to let him come around with him. That was better, since he was just traveling around by himself anyways. It might be fun having an old human come with him. They were different then young humans, he reminded Solomon of Mrs. Kali. Before she started to forget things... Well if Mr. Zobek forgot things, Solomon would help him remember! "That sounds fun!" He did a little hop, leaning back on the balls of his feet and rocking forward and then back. He needed to watch himself, he couldn't let Mr. Zobek know he was a dragon, hush shh.... He was just a kid. Don't tell him.

Edward glanced once again at the riverfront while Solomon hopped about. Hmm, still nothing. The old knight sighed, running a hand down his beard. Ever one of the Light's faithful, Edward took it as a sign that he would find no trace of Gabriel in this particular Lycian territory. Perhaps it was fate that he wouldn't be entering into Tuscana today. St. Elimine, in her wisdom, must be guiding him somewhere else.
The Viscount knew Gabriel was probably alright, wherever he was. His letters hadn't stopped coming, despite all these years, and from the sound of it, he'd grown into a capable young man. As disappointing as it was that his detours through Lycia were proving fruitless, Edward knew that he still had a more important job to do. As well, he'd also picked up a charming little traveling companion in the form of Solomon. Was it odd that an old knight from Etruria was allowing a little boy he barely knew that he'd found in the woods to travel with him on a secret mission that had the potential to get quite dangerous? Maybe it was, but the boy seemed to have come very, very far, and Edward didn't have the time to go find out wherever it was he called home. The fatherly instinct, or rather the grandfatherly instinct in the old Etrurian wasn't about to let him just leave Solomon here, so as long as he didn't cause trouble, the knight was more than happy to have him along. Maybe, by random chance, they might even find the pale boy's parents, whomever they were.
Besides, for the purposes of staying covert on his journey, nothing was less suspicious than an old man traveling with his grandson, and any bandits who tried to prey on that fact would find themselves in a good amount of pain.
"Then let's be off," said Edward, a smile on his face. He extended a hand to Solomon. "And if you don't mind, if anyone asks, please, refer to me as your grandfather. We will get less questions asked that way."

It was dark tonight. He looked at the city, it was quiet. Like no one doing anything quiet. Not many torches or those little baby torches in a jar were lit, he didn't know the name off the top of his head. Not many people were moving around it seemed, he narrowed his eyes a bit. His eyes slightly deforming into a strange shape, the pupils growing long and pointy, his sharp eyesight growing a little more intense as he stared at the city, drawing a bit of power from his dragonstone. His dragonstone was hidden on his person, he wasn't about to tell where, but it let him sharpen his senses to a razor point for the moment as he got a clear look inside the city from the riverside.
There was some people with spears, that pointy weapon humans sometimes used, these people were called guards. Or knights. He didn't know the difference sometimes, something about a king or something, some explained it to him once but he didn't really remember. Still the city didn't seem easy to get in to. He might be able to fly in, but they might shoot him down, or find out he was a dragon and just murder him. Eech, he didn't want THAT. The city was closed off though, so he doubted his parents would be here in the end. That's why instead of sneaking in he started watching Mr. Zobek. He was more interesting then this stupid sleepy city.
His eyes returned to normal before he looked at Mr. Zobek, he was careful that he couldn't see. He didn't want Mr. Zobek to hate him. So he smiled with closed eyes and a small laugh. "Oh we're leaving?" Solomon asked. He wasn't particularly desiring to get into the city, but Mr. Zobek seemed to have wanted to. He wasn't sure why, but he said he wasn't allowed into the town either and the way he kept looking in from the river seemed to mean he wanted to get in. Still Solomon wasn't gonna stop him, if he didn't want to go in he didn't want to go in.
It may not of been his parents, but finding a friend to travel with was good too. He was nice, and reminded him of Mrs. Kali. He wouldn't find them now, or maybe even any time soon. Who knows, maybe he won't find them for an entire century. However, Mr. Zobek was a human. He wouldn't live that long. He would rather spend time with a human who's time is limited then waste it on a quest that he would likely never... No Solomon, don't think like that. Be happy, you don't want to cry. Especially not now. He would live for years. Hundreds, thousands, he had all the time in the world to find his parents. What was a decade or two?
"G-grandpa?" He replied, with small hesitation with the words. It felt... embarassing actually. Even he always called Mrs. Kali Mrs. Kali, instead of aunty like she had always wanted him to. It sort of made him feel bad now that he thought about it. Like he was sort of saying she wasn't family, she totally was, she was more of a mother to him then... Well now that it was too late, it made him feel bad. It just always sort of felt awkward to him. He bit his lip, but took the man's extended hand. "Alright grandpa." He said, the words felt a bit unnatural, but kinda nice. Even if they weren't true, it was nice to think he had a grandpa who cared about him. It may not be the parents he was searching for, but family was family, even when it was a fake one.
