She brought a hand low, scooping up some of the sand. Slowly, but surely it passed through her fingers or was swept away by the soft breeze of the Nabatan Desert on this day. Palenax rose up once more. The magic was still natural and thick in Nabata, though one might wonder how it could be so. Still, to be able to breathe freely once more was something amazing and delightful. The air all around her had felt constrained in every other part of Elibe, like it would constrict her throat. But here, the Fire Dragon felt she could breathe free once again.
"Ah... So nice to feel this way again."
She took in a deep breathe before releasing it, her golden wings of fire starting to manifest once more. Trying to remember where Arcadia was after being gone for so long was a touch annoying, honestly. Features had changed, not to mention having gotten used to another world as well. The golden haired woman sighed. She entered in from the north, so...
Her form lifted up into the air, fiery wings going to work as she began to take off once more. Admittedly, she'd probably scout it out better with her full draconic form, but she'd rather find the place the first time before changing entirely and attracting ill notice. Speaking of notice...
She began to lower herself onto the ground once more, dismissing her wings as a city came into view. The Fire Dragon approached it, suspecting it to just be a normal town really. As she got closer and saw a caravan starting out on a road, the theory was pretty easily confirmed. Well, at least it would be a good starting point.

Arriving into the village late the night prior, the trio of mercenaries managed to sleep all through the morning sheltered under a tarp in front of a small inn that was frequently occupied, but laid empty during the day. It was fairly cold the night before, but that since had came to an end. Awakening to a sweat, Landrik was quick to take off his coat and the toque that was wrapped around his neck. He wore the blue and white striped shirt many other sailors wore, his reaching just past his elbows and tucked into his trousers. Sitting up, he already had his boots on so it made it easy on him. He grasped his sword and attached it to his belt, making sure not to disturb Berg or Fuchs. He was a light sleeper and he wasn't one to cause a commotion every time he would wake up.
After about 10 minutes of freshening up, Landrik took a small walk around. He didn't see the village during the daytime and he had some time to kill before they would head out on the road again. It was easier to travel at dusk in the desert anyways. Something that sparked the swordman's interest was how drab the village was, but made every attempt to liven it up with decorations and namely, interwoven designs in just about everything that was made of cloth. He was sure that living in an immensely vast area with nothing around, one had to build their own beauty.
Finding a nice spot in the shade of a building, Landrik pulled his sword from his sheath, inspecting it. It still retained its sharpness quite well despite all the travel all over the Western side of Elibe sans Etruria. Being in-between jobs was terrible.

This change of scenery was not not sitting well with Rosa at all. Despite her rather skimpy attire, the desert heat was still rather taxing. Ugh. Why did I agree to escort daddy's damn caravan again? This is the worst, the Myrmidon whined to herself, groaning. Sure, she was sitting nice and comfy on her horse instead of trudging through the sand manually, but that heat. They'd barely begun this venture and already Rosa was drenched in her own sweat.
The sun was beating down overhead, only intensifying as time progressed, much to Rosa's chagrin. "Are we there yet, Darrin?" she moaned, exaggerating her exasperation a great deal.
"Milady, we only just left. ... And you asked me that less than a minute ago," came the man's reply, accompanied with a heavy sigh.
Rosa's eyes narrowed as she growled, thoroughly displeased with the circumstances. Little did she know things were about to take a drastic turn. Suddenly, without warning, something frightened the horses! Rosa's reared up, neighing in terror as it threw her from the saddle, then bolted into the distance! Rosa shrieked as she was launched, plopping harshly in the hot desert sand. Dazed and confused, the woman lay face-down in the sand for a time. As panicked shouts rang out, however, Rosa wearily stirred, lifting herself up first onto her hands and knees, stumbling slightly as she recovered. After regaining her composure and spitting out a mouthful of sand, the Myrmidon managed to stand, sword at the ready. There was some sort of disturbance within the caravan- but what? There was too much going on to really see.

"My. That was quite the spill. Are all of you alright?"
What greeted the violet haired swordswoman wasn't any vile monster, band of brigands, or some combination of the two. Just a golden haired woman in beautiful clothing that seemed to have it's own unique style rather than matching anything around Elibe.
"I saw your horses getting quite rattled as I approached from down the road. Quite strange."

Before too long, the mercenary came back from his stroll to his sleeping arrangements. Berg and Fuchs were sitting up, sharing a bit of meat paste on bread that they managed to keep away from the pesky desert sands. Berg was pretty good about all of that. Landrik shook out his coat and rolled it up, strapping it to his pack. It was much too hot to be wearing it right now. He put on his leather chest armor just over his shirt and easily and quickly managed to get everything packed up. The others had no issue either. "Well, we ain't got no work for us here. Let's move onto the other village. Hopefully we can find something out there."
Things weren't going too well for them, but they had enough supplies to get where they needed, thankfully. Careful rationing made it possible. Moving down the barely marked trail, they saw the caravan that was in their town not too long ago in the distance. They were pretty slow moving and it didn't take long for the three to catch up to the rear. Up ahead, however, a horse reared and a rider fell off. "That sucks. I bet they got sand up in every crevice jumpin' in the sand like that." Landrik joked. Berg didn't pay him any mind and Fuchs chuckled a bit.
Realizing his dumb statement, he figured he may as well see if they were alright. He jogged up there and noticed a purple haired gal and a blonde one next to her. It was good to see she didn't land on nothing. "You alright, Miss?" he asked, holding onto the straps of his pack with both hands.

Rosa gasped, backing away from the golden-haired woman. Where had she even come from? There was no one there mere moments ago... was there? Pulling her headband out of her crimson eyes, Rosa lifted her gaze to meet the violet orbs adorning the face of this mysterious newcomer. "You about scared me as badly as whatever has our horses riled up, miss!" the Myrmidon said with a nervous laugh, still backing away slowly. One never knew when they'd encounter bandits in the desert.
As Rosa backed up, however, she found herself colliding with... something, and as a male voice rang out, she screamed, jumped, backed away from the new source, and put her hand to her chest in a panic. "By the gods! Are you people trying to stop my heart!?" she exclaimed, breathing heavily as she attempted to regain her composure.
As she calmed down, Rosa shook her head, pulling her bangs from her face and brushing the sweat from her brow. "Terribly sorry about snapping like that. I'm alright now. I'm Rosa." The woman intentionally omitted her last name, what with her family's pirate lineage. The last thing she wanted to do was give herself away to an enemy. Warily, she looked from Dietrich to Nax, then back to the caravan. What was she going to do with her horse having bolted?

"Nax. And it's a pleasure to meet you Rosa, as well as you in the back there. Though..." She looked over at the cart. "Wish it was better circumstances. Looks like you'll need to head back into town." Palenax turned and looked off into the distance. That horse was well and truly gone. Oh well. Animals did have a better sense of things around them, even... Even those other ones. Yes, still a shame.
"Well, no point in standing around out here." She began to head towards the town once more herself.

The man didn't expect for the woman to jump up into him. He braced her from falling over, but was pushed back himself, catching his stance. Now that Landrik got a better look at her, she was quite the looker and wasn't afraid to show it. Taking a second to think about it, that was the first time he'd touched a woman since he was back in the Western Isles at home. Had he really been travelling that much?
"Oh, uh, my bad, ma'am. I'm Dietrich Landrik, but yuh can just call me Landrik since it's easier to say." he stepped to the side a bit to introduce his companions, they themselves just kinda soaking in what just happened. "This is Berg, the gentleman with the big ol' beard and the other one's Fuchs. Don't listen to anything he says, he's a menace." he joked. They nodded their heads and looked to Landrik. They needed to get moving to find work.
"Oh, say, how far is it to the next town? You were making your way there anyways, right? We could very well walk with ya there. Yer horse may be there too, since that's the only spot for water miles 'round." he asked, trying to be polite.

Rosa let out a false laugh, scratching the back of her head anxiously as she searched for an appropriate response. "Better circumstances? ... Nax? Nax!" she called out to the mysterious woman, puzzled as to what she could possibly mean. With her gone, all that was left was Landrik and his group. Putting on the best smile she could, Rosa turned to the men, extending a hand in friendship. "Erm... uh... It's a pleasure to meet you, Landrik! Berg! Fuchs!" Turning to each of them in turn, she nodded politely, crimson eyes scanning each of them for possible threat. They seemed genuine enough though.
"The town's about half a day's march on foot, and there's an oasis about three-quarters of the way there. You've just gotta watch out for the typical desert creatures, bandits, and the heat really. The more of us there are, the more secure we are, but at the same time, the more lucrative we appear, so traveling together would be up to you fine gentlemen! We'd best catch up to that other lady though. Being pretty as she is, we don't want to leave her alone out here," Rosa chimed, practically dancing away into a walk. "Mind if I ask where you're coming from? I'm from the west coast, myself."
As Rosa trekked forward, she drew her blade, ready to strike at anything that might be hiding in the dunes. One could never be too careful. Showing off a bit, she twirled it gracefully between her finger tips before adopting her stance again. I wonder if any of them might be swordsmen as well!? Maybe they could teach me something! Maybe I could even learn a whole new style! she thought with the excitement of a child in a candy store.

The town was about as boring as one would expect. A casual town going about it's usual affairs out here in the Nabatan Desert. It was easy to tell that the large oasis in the center of town was responsible for allowing it to prosper, beautiful flora growing around the town. Merchants moved about here and there, setting up their own caravans much like the violet haired woman's own, done with their stop and ready to move on, checking up on the status of their supplies, or so on.
None of that really mattered to Palenax.
She looked around briefly, taking in other sights. Different stores and stalls, a couple of stables. She had to admit there was some interesting trinkets at least. Maybe buy a couple for souvenirs or something. Then again, she'd be here for quite a while. Probably have even more interesting things in several years' time. But ah, she really did need to find something to actually occupy her extra time.
"So many sights, all so dull..."

Klain rushed through the busy streets doing his best not to hit anyone. The town guards (well the few that could be considered it) had taken ill of the swordsman's lessons. All he wanted to do was instruct them on proper fighting forms, so what that a few were injured they weren't dead and so what that they hadn't asked him for help he could see they sorely need his teachings if they were to fight off brigands and madmen.....well other madmen.
Klain suddenly caught sight of a strange blond haired woman wandering the streets, she looked as out of place as he did which is saying a hell of allot. "Sorry boys! I think I found a new muse! Keep those lessons up and you might just hold your own someday!".....(sinister laugh) Klain yelled behind him to the guards. He then tripped over a cask he hadn't seen in his excitement and he was sent spinning head of feet towards the strange woman. Just before he collided with her Klain manged to spring onto his feet. Before she had time to react the swordsman dusted himself off, bowed, and introduced himself. "Hello there I'm Klain the Hydra Part time painter full time wandering madsword....I mean sellman...madman....NO No Sellsword....That's it sellsword. And you are my strange hatted lady? Klain slipped into a overly toothy smile.
The Guards behind him now struggling to pierce the crowed that had begum yo form.

The mercenary was getting a bit confused of the situation. A caravan just arrived in the town they left and blonde woman was walking towards it. Did the two know each other well? There were only a few things Landrik knew right now. He was hot, he agreed with Rosa's travel plans, and he was ready to get under some shade. No point standing in the sun if they weren't getting a move-on. "Ah, alright. We don't mind stoppin' back in town." he replied, realizing he was being dragged along.
His faace showed a bit of shock when she spoke of where she was from. "Ooh, I'm from the Western Isles myself. Well, all three of us. I'm from the north side. We were sailors until a pirate crew came and stole our cargo then scuttling our ship. So here we are, looking for work. Life has a funny way of throwing people around." he laughed uneasily. He wasn't really a fan of sweating his butt off in the desert looking for coin.

Rosa's face contorted with anguish and sympathy at Landrik's plight, knowing all too well the pain of having your way of life abruptly ripped from you. Worse yet, she feared that she or her father might be directly responsible. It was likely best to keep a low profile. "Pirates, huh? These aren't exactly the most peaceful times, I suppose. I'm sorry for your loss. I guess you really never know when tragedy's going to strike, or who you can trust, eh? We're actually on a merchandising delivery right now, ourselves. Perhaps we could set you up with some connections when we arrive. Our network is rather expansive and well-versed in lucrative deals," she offered with a smile.
Perhaps she really could arrange something with her father for these gentlemen? Maybe make amends? They certainly didn't seem to have much in the way of supplies, let alone luck. Who knew? Her father was as generous to those who proved themselves worthy as he was merciless to those who stood in his way. That was why she both feared and admired the man.

The golden-haired Dragon looked from a shop on her right to right in front of her once more. As it happened, that was quite the good idea. She stopped as the man that was moving forward tripped over a casque, starting to step aside before he crashed down right in front of her and was quickly back up on his feet once more. And judging by his words, this was some boring lunatic she didn't want to waste her time on.
Keeping her ever stoic look of boredom, Nax simply turned away and kept walking. No time like now to check out that shop then. She passed through the doors, looking around at the various novelties they sold. Mostly tourist stuff, it seemed, though there was some nice glass statues. She did get a small amount of amusement out of the Dragon ones in particular. It seemed that Humans still took an interest in them in more than history even now.
After a bit longer she left the shop, bereft of anything that peaked her interest. Then again, her interest was a hard to earn thing for very long. Pretty girls had it easy in that regard, they always were to her tastes. Though even that was ultimately a novelty, the passing fancy of a potentially infinite lifespan. All things were for one such as Nax. She'd seen a great many things, perhaps a bit too much as well in some respects.
Well, here comes another boring day unless that violet haired woman might provide some potential amusement.

Reaching the edge of town, the blonde man paused. The sweat on his skin was starting to glisten in the sun, but thankfully there was a bit of a breeze to make things bearable. He took a moment to roll his sleeves up. He noticed Rosa was talking big, but out here in the desert that's all it was. He'd believe it when he saw it. Looking over, Berg was internally going insane with the lack of progress. Feeling a bit of grace and realizing they still had to fetch the blonde woman, Landrik pointed over towards their previous shaded spot. "That was a nice stroll, eh? Go ahead and cool off. I'll signal when we're ready to go... Oh, and could you take my pack off me for a bit?"
Berg nodded, disinterested in what was going on. "Sure thing, Landrik. You know where to find us. Try to not take too long." he said plainly. Landrik handed him his pack and patted him on the back in thanks. Fuchs was already sitting, his halberd resting up against the wall.
Looking over to Rosa, he replied, "I remember hearing once that there was no such thing as desperate times; only desperate people. People are going to start to turn towards something to help pull out of these hellish days. But for us, right now, we need to make it to tomorrow."[/color] he strolled alongside Rosa, looking occasionally inside some of the open buildings to search for her friend. "I think I'll take you up on your offer. Thank you, really." he said sincerely.
