"I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I'll have to pay them a visit myself."
One quick slash of Valcrist's axe and the creature stopped its wriggling and thrashing and lay still at last. What a pungent and disgusting odor. It was like a mix of the most awful things you could ever imagine. Wow.
Cleaning all of the gunk from his spears and axe, Eren quickly put his weapons away before cleaning his armor off. There was a good deal of cerebral splatter on that, so it took him a little to clean and shine it to his liking. In that time, Gunther had made his way back to the wagon and was ready to move on.
"Right, Valcrist. We should probably get this job over with. It's not much farther to Thria."
The Dragon Knight mounted his wyvern, nodding to Mika and soaring up into the sky again. Hopefully, the rest of the trip would be uneventful. He'd had quite enough of these undead for a while.

Valcrist didn't really say anything and instead just shrugged, loading himself back upon the wagon and feeling as it lurched forward once more. As the wagon began to move he found himself pulling out a somewhat worn looking leather bound book. It was a business ledger, but he also had taken to using it like a journal from time to time. He was lazy and didn't want to buy another book, and he didn't really write enough for it to become a problem. He made a few notes, jotting down Eren's purchase. He seemed happy about it in general, which was good. He was confident in his skills as a smith, but it was always nice to know when your work is appreciated. After he finished, he began to doodle in the margins a bit. Little sketches of the monsters they just fought. The book he was reading before laid undisturbed, the conflict seemed to have jostled his attention so that he lost interest in it for the moment.
He looked up at the sky, it was clear and blue. Despite everything else, at least the sky was still pretty. Fat white clouds rolled slowly across the canvas, puffy things that he saw all the time. It was kind of weird, there were so few clouds back in Koroda, but he saw them all the time elsewhere. Sometimes dark and threatening, or sometimes hiding in the distance. It wasn't the endless frontier of blue that stretched as far as the golden sands that he grew up with, but it was still the same sky. The whole world was connected, even if it's just some small way. It was kind of hard to believe sometimes with how different places can be. It felt like stepping into another existence altogether.
Eh, that was enough waxing poetic for now. Valcrist just returned to his doodling.

After what felt like another age, the wall of Thria finally came into view, and Eren sighed in relief as Mika touched down safely at the guard station and gate as Gunther pulled out identification and the group moved into the city. What a trip that had been.
"Well then, Gunther, Valcrist. It seems like we managed to make it here in one piece, did we not? Those undead fell like chaff before our blades."
Gunther nodded, and, with all accounts settled, moved away, leaving Valcrist and Eren standing near the wall.
"I'd like to thank you again, Valcrist. Your assistance in the defense of the wagon proved invaluable, as did your weapons. Such fine craftmanship should be commended.
...I believe this is where we'll part ways. Perhaps I will see you again sometime; I'll be sure to seek you out if I have any more weapons or equipment I need. You're a fine smith, sir. May health and luck ride with you, Valcrist. If you need me, just send word through the military, Ilian or Bernese. I'll ride to your aid."
Eren nodded and extended his hand to the smith. He'd been a hardy companion and an honest businessman. His skill with the hammer and anvil was truly enviable. You didn't meet many men of such strong character nowadays, but when you did, you valued them even more than usual.

"I'm kinda disappointed. Just zombies? I assumed something else would happen. I mean Gunther was moving like he was on fire or something, and being in Ostia in the first place, I was almost sure he was smuggling something." Valcrist shrugged, they parted ways from Gunther and as far as the smith knew he did have contraband it didn't matter now though. "I'm just saying I was half expecting to be attacked by thugs, or waylaid by officials and tossed into jail." He crossed his arms and sighed, tilting his head as he looked off into the distance. "I believe this is a first. I'm complaining things didn't go the absolute worst they could, how about that? I swear my time out in the world's changed me." He spoke with a sort of morbid voice, both entertained and a bit depressed.
"Well whatever." It didn't matter, he turned to Eren and took his hand and shook it. "It was nice meeting you too. Maybe I'll hire you again one day, properly this time. Assuming you're not neck deep in political intrigue." He said with a smile. "Be careful out there, it's dangerous. I'll be sure to look you up one day." He held a thumbs up and smirked. "Take care of your weapons, and they'll take care of you."

"Well, to me, I'm more than satisfied. Those undead goons were more than enough hassle for me. I'm going back to Bern. It's safer there, actually, and there's much more to do. Hunting down bandits, and running military sweeps, and all of that good stuff. Please, Valcrist. If there's anything you ever need, just get in touch and I'll be ready to help in a wingbeat. Protection for your own travels as a merchant, eliminating some dirty competition... Anything I can do to help you."
Eren saluted and touched his weapons once more.
"Indeed I will. Until we meet again, Valcrist. Take care, and may the gods smile upon you."
