The walk back into the city didn't take terribly long; getting past the wall without alarming the guards was the lengthiest portion of the trip, and even then the four thieves had their own ways of getting past. The four of them eventually made it to Rogus's small dwelling inside of Santaruz. After a few minutes chatting as a group, the two men of the group excused themselves to speak privately, leaving Charlotte and Burgid awaiting their return in the small, barely furnished living room.
Charlotte was sitting on a scratched up leather arm chair, seated in such a way that it might seem to an onlooker that she thought of herself as something of a queen, her legs crossed daintily and her hands folded on her knees. It was true, Charlotte thought highly of herself, but she moreso was concerned with leaving the right first impression of herself with her new companions. Her mind was always focused on selling herself to others, which was why she couldn't allow herself to slouch or pick at her nails or any of the things she might actually want to do since she was fairly tired.
So instead, she focused what energy she had left in two things: maintaining her poise and analyzing the woman sitting across from her. Burgid was definitely the right fit for a thief, and she seemed to have the brains to take herself a step further too. She was average height, average looks (in Charlotte's opinion), and no distinguishing traits. By the guard's uniform she had been sporting, Charlotte inferred her main skills had something to do with disguises, and that kind of ability would prove extremely lucrative for their little guild if they ever took off.
Satisfied with her initial read on the blue haired thief, Charlotte leaned forward while using her left hand to move all of her hair to rest over her left shoulder. "So, Burgid," the blonde smiled, hoping for some light conversation to help her read into Burgid further, "is Santaruz your usual territory? Or were you branching out today?" Charlotte expected something of a cryptic answer - they were all still thieves, after all - but the traveling merchant couldn't help but be a little curious.

"And so the great saga begins, with the four thieves each starting at the same point, each with a different mind and path, But what fate lies for these travelers on the road of fate? Soon time will revel it's secrets..." Burgid finished writing in her encrypted langue in her notebook. There was quite some potential in this. But she had an appointment with the others to get to. She hurried over to Rogus' place. After a little while the men left leaving her and Charlotte.
Burgid gave Got first real good look at Charlotte. She looked at her shape and the way she was sitting, taking in how it looked slightly forced. She appeared to have a quite high view with herself. Pondering her actions that Burgid saw earlier she seemed to be about selling herself and drawing attention. A quite fine skill that had many uses. Feeling like she too was beeing sizing up Burgid she checked her own self.
She was standing slightly off with her arms across her chest. She had changed out of the guard's outfit and was wearing a more simple outfit with her hair tied back. She maintained a flat look on her face to better hide her thoughts witch were many a place. Over all she was trieg to give off a "in control look", though she was not sure how she was doing.
Charlotte leaned in and spoke with a smile. A quick wince that would be missed by the normal eye hit Burgid when the blonde spoke her name. She had not been called that name for a long time, and it seemed to come with trouble. She moved past that as she thought how to respond. Burgid was not going to be fully honest, at least no yet. Who knew who was connected to who. She also leaned in with a mock smile but spoke with a knowing voice, "I would not say i have any territory, but i would also say that its more like branching in." Let her figure out what that meant.
She took a seat across from Charlotte on the edge of the chair, with one hand on her knee and the other on the arm of the seat. Her face returned to its blank state and she asked her a question. "Is this your normal territory? I don't believe you started here." She was shooting in the dark, but with a candle. She had no idea where she was from, just that she seems smart enough to not to sell her wares where she was known. Therefore, was not from around here. She mainly want to get a look of her off guard, something she had not seen in her the entire time she and know her. A thought went through Burgid's head not long after and a she showed a friendly smile and her face opened up a little. This was her teammate now, she needed to be getting on her good side, not making enemies.

As Burgid sat down across from her, Charlotte very briefly reflected on the blue haired woman’s response to her. This group all spoke in generalizations and code, even with the simplest questions. Granted, Charlotte didn’t expect any less of them, but it would still take the woman some getting used to, considering she used to be the only one speaking in such a way to others.
It seemed Burgid was being thoughtful with her questions – good for Charlotte, as it meant she had more of a chance of getting a little more out of her new partner. So Charlotte shrugged, looking down at her nails as she responded. “You are definitely right to assume that,” She looked up briefly, only to cast her gaze back down to her manicured nails. “I don’t mix business with pleasure – If you can believe it, I keep my work completely out of my personal life.” Charlotte wasn’t as guarded about her current self as the others were, as she had shared much of what she was telling them with her merchant acquaintances and partners. She couldn’t be secretive with everything; she’d never stay in business with such a shielded façade.
Then again, she wasn’t being entirely honest. While she did her best not to mix business with pleasure and her privacy, it wasn’t always possible, especially when she was “consulting.” Some clients required a push in the right direction, and Charlotte wasn’t afraid to give them that push, especially if her gain was substantial. It was easy to say she didn’t make the majority of her money from legal means; that wasn’t where the true money was at these days, and her three new companions would likely see it that way as well.
“I can’t help but regret not making residence here, though,” Charlotte said, looking to share a bit more about herself to make the woman more comfortable sharing with her as well. “Santaruz is so gorgeous in the Springtime, what with the blossoming trees and whatnot. There are no better sunsets in all of Elibe than those of Santaruz, wouldn’t you say?” An innocuous question, at least Charlotte hoped Burgid would see it that way. The merchant was definitely looking to slow the conversation down to simple small talk, recognizing that the woman in front of her would need a bit more time to feel comfortable sharing.

Charlotte was trying to slow the conversation down bit and sharing more about herself. If she was trying to make Burgid feel a little more conferrable, she was succeeding. She Nodded with a small smile at the mention of the wonderful sunsets that this area had, along with the description of the rest of the beautiful things that this area offered that she missed each time she left. She took a breath and let it out slowly, making a dissension that she would open up a little more with Charlotte, even if she was being manipulated or not. "Yes this area was always quite nice, i looked forward to coming here every year. I guess lately I have been too distracted to notice."
She reflected on this for a little bit before she had a question for Charlotte. "Do you have a favorite type of Play, or any favorite ones?" Burgid had thought about when she was still in the traveling acting troupe and now it was in her head. It was something she liked talking about.

Charlotte knew all too well how easy it was to get distracted with everything that went on in her own day-to-day. Oftentimes Charlotte was too busy shuttling herself between cities for jobs to take a break from work, and even when she did she couldn’t bring herself to not work on something in the meantime. In fact, this whole thieves guild business had been the first thing that had her thinking about something outside of being a merchant for once.
Plays? Well that was a question Charlotte never expected to hear, but she’d seen a few in her days. “I haven’t been lately, but I’ve always had a soft spot for a good dark satire. ‘Men of the Sky’ was always one of my favorites, but ‘Broken Something’ comes pretty close too.” It only took a moment for Charlotte to put two and two together, allowing her to continue the conversation which seemed to be coming more naturally to the two now.
“What about you?” Charlotte asked, intrigued to learn more. “I think it’s safe to say you’re something of an actress yourself,” she added, largely in reference to her disguise from earlier. Not to mention, Charlotte didn’t meet many people who brought up the fine arts in idle chatter.
