Name: Kirin
Magic: Anima
Tome: Thoron
Physical Description:
The sword, which the thunder spirit inhabits, was created imitating Wo Dao design. However, it doesn't have the same sharpness and cutting power the famous sword has, only as good as a normal steel sword. Like Wo Dao or other Sacae-style sword, the blade is made bent a little on the tip and the body is fairly thinner compared to the broadsword from other countries.
The hilt and the sheath are modified a little by using insulator materials like plastic and rubber to wrap them as a safety measure against the electricity nature of the weapon. The guard is made wider and wrapped with the same insulator to prevent the blade killing its own wielder. Although the spirit actually won't always emit electricity, the creator want a countermeasure to protect the user in case the spirit go rampage.
Personality:
Kirin, the raging thunder sword, have straightforward, heroic, and prideful nature. It will show its true power when the wielder has unyielding spirit and honest heart. The blade is always coated electricity when unsheathed, sometimes even fills the air around the wielder with low voltage electricity if he/she is too enthusiastic in battle. Like a beast, it could be calm most of the times but wild and destructive when provoked. It values good karma and will sync greatly with people who displays virtue in his/her deeds. The sword responds to rage and battle spirit while also might refuse to lend its power to people who favors dishonest and cowardice behavior.
The weapon electrocutes the enemy with a blast of thunder, firing a thunderbolt from the weapon straight toward the target. The power and the range will vary depending on the sync between the wielder and the spirit of the sword. If used to fight directly, even small contact with opponent's skin or any conductor material is enough to send the electricity through their bodies, causing minimum or maximum damage depending of the duration of the contact.
Origin:
The sword originally belonged to Mana's mother which has accompanied the swordsman in her adventures. Made by one of the finest smiths in Sacae and a local druid, the sword had a nature spirit bound into it. The name Kirin was taken from a thunder spirit worshiped as a god by the Hawkeye tribe but whether the real Kirin truly resided inside the magic weapon was unclear. The druid that had helped with the process of sealing a spirit into the sword admitted that he didn't really remember the ritual although he was pretty sure that he had dreamed about a golden creature, a mix of dragon, deer, and horse, on that night.
Mana's mother actually planned to let her daughter to inherit the sword but the clan was attacked and annihilated by bandits, which unfortunately killed her, before she could pass the sword to Mana. However, before that tragedy happened she had sent the sword to an Arulad tribe smith to be repaired and redesigned. Maybe...maybe if the sword was still in her possession she wouldn't have died that day....
Fate returned the sword to Mana when the girl came back to the plain and visited a festival held by Arulad and Fanales tribe. The smith and the elder had kept the sword safe to honor Mana's mother. Now when the daughter of the original owner, the successor, had returned, they could finally hand the memento to Mana, who would undoubtely cherish and use it to fulfill her destiny.
