So, like a pair of regular idiots, both of them rushed without a second thought in their empty little minds. Why worry about 'tactics' or 'staying in formation' or 'not getting killed' when you can bum rush the enemy without any hesitation? They were lucky they were dealing with bandits, a well trained force would have ran them through for such things. Merio didn't have time to sigh and close his eyes like he so wanted to, bemoaning the situation of things, why was it every he met were just as reckless as Kelvin was? Was he the crazy one for thinking things through?
He couldn't focus on the sad state of society at the moment however, he had a battle to conduct. For the most part, the bandits were being obliterated by his soldier's incredible coordination. They moved as a unit, just as he trained them, and mowed down the bandits who stood opposed to them. It was always a bit of a shame, that people had to stoop to such activities in the first place. Bandits that is, maybe some of them had no other choices, or perhaps that was simply the life in which they were raised and all they knew, of course pity is no excuse for a soft heart. They killed, they butchered, they plundered, they raped, they destroyed, and as such they need punishment. If they surrendered, he'd take them back to Tania to await trial, but they never did. Truth be told even if they did, they would die anyways, just at an execution and not by his soldier's blades.
He himself did not see much battle, the knights were efficient in their job and few bandits lived long enough to reach him. Instead he was monitoring the situation, watching the flow of battle and picking off stragglers that tried to escape. Ruthless perhaps, but if they got away there was nothing stopping them from killing again. Of course it was mostly unnecessary, since few took that option. Or perhaps more appropriately few had the chance to take that option, with the vigor the knights cut them down.
There was a sound in the air, a sudden flurry of movement and sound as it appeared giant masses of green and red screamed into the air. Wyvern riders here? Tania was near the border to Bern, and it wasn't unheard of to be honest. There weren't many, after all how many rare winged lizards could a group of bandits manage to scrounge up? Arrows filled the air as the archers among the knights quickly changed targets, and almost instantly both of the wyverns came crashing down to the earth in a arrow ridden bloody mess. Merio nodded wordlessly, he'll have to remind Cyrus of that the next time he was whining about his drills.
His lance pierced the flesh of a runner, the man was too preoccupied fleeing for his life to see the man's horse streaming next to him, and the spear that ran him through from behind. The bandit force was starting to lose their nerve at this point, but they didn't want to run off the bandits. They wanted a full rout. "Don't allow them to escape! Run down those who flee!"

Perun felt an arrow pierce his side. As he jumped toward the direction the arrow must have come from, he roared. The large man saw the archer readying another arrow, but didn't give him the chance to fire it. There were twenty yards between the two of them at least, and Perun closed it quickly, ;lunging left and right to prevent the archer from having a straight shot. The smaller man dropped his bow, and pulled out a small dagger. He attempted to stab Perun, but the bigger man was quicker than he expected. He took hold of his axe closer to the blade and drove it into the other man's stomach. Perun felt the warm gush of blood overtake his hands almost immediately, and quickly pulled his axe away from the man's insides. A splash of blood coated his shirt and chest. Perun spit a bit of blood out of his throat. It had formed a few moments after the arrow made impact with his ribs. The northerner noted that most of the bandits were fleeing now, which was good.
He thought it was good, at least. Perun started to take a necklace from the archer's body, but then he heard his new friend in the armor shouted to stop the bandits from fleeing. Perun's bushy eyebrows knit themselves together. He didn't want to attack somebody from behind. Then a voice spoke up deep in his mind, reminding him that these men were bandits, and they hurt the innocent with no regard for what would be fair or just. So Perun quickly slid his axe back into its loop on his back, and strung his bow as he pulled it from his back. Drawing an arrow from the quiver at his waist, the man brought his colossal right shoulder back. One arrow flew, and one bandit fell, taken in the back. Perun repeated the process a second time, this time only hitting the man in the leg. In his hobbling, the bandit was soon taken down by another one of the Knights. Good, Perun thought, now his new friend had less bandits to worry about. Perun once again took to looking for problem areas in the battlefield.

"Wyverns", spoke Djoser as he head the cry of the beast. It was not the first time he heard such wails and he doubted it would be the last time. Living in the mountains of Bern for so long made him accustom to the sound. "Bandits with wyverns", spoke Djoser with some surprise. These men were doing good for themselves if they had that many winged beast under their belt. Which meant they needed to be eliminated all the more. "Well lets kick some Ice", spoke Djoser as he began to move his hands in preparation for another spell. With a brilliant flash several bolts of light flew forward and slammed into a winged beast. The magic ripped through the mini dragon's scales like a hot knife through butter. With a screech of pain the winged beast fell to the ground like a sack of flower. The impact not only finished off the beast, but its rider as well.
"I bet he did not see that one coming", spoke the old man. As Djoser looked down he saw a bandit running for his life. He seemed to have a bag of loot in one hand and a axe covered in blood in the other. "Oh trying to escape with your Chill gotten gains", spoke Djoser as he prepared another spell. Calling the power of Fimbulvert Djoser created a long whip of liquid water. He then hooked the bandits leg with the cool liquid and caused him to trip.
"What the", spoke the bandit as he saw a whip of water wrapped around his leg.
"Where do you think you are going", spoke Djoser. "You thought you could skate off while your comrades were being cut down", spoke the sage as he redirected the water. The water turned from a whip and transformed into several small spikes of ice. These spikes were then stabbed into the man's body where they began to freeze the water inside of him. "Well chill youngin", spoke Djoser as he watched the bandit meet his end.
The sage turned to the battle and watched as the knights sweep through the bandits. "Smooth as Ice", spoke Djoser as he admired their team work and order. It reminded him of his old days, but they were no where near as organize as these chaps were.

Lynessa was on business trip to Tania to buy some local spices. "Hmm...I hope they haven't raised the price...I heard there was a shortage of supplies to due locust attack on the farm. Well, I am friends with some of their merchants so maybe I could negotiated a fair price. Or, I could look for cheaper spices in another region....," she mulled over her alternatives as she casually walked on the dirt road. The road was fairly known as dangerous because of bandits activity but Lynessa was unaware of it. She wouldn't get scared over a few bandits anyway. If they annoyed her she would eat them....or simply gave them some beating.
The sound of battle got her attention. The ice dragon forgot her original goal to reach Tania and went to where the skirmish took place. She followed the sound of metal clashing and people yelling until she spotted a lot of people moving and fighting around an old building. The winning side looked more organized and well-equipped, probably knights and militias of Tania. "And the other group is...?" Lynessa looked at the opposing group, who looked less grand compared to Merio's knights. "Bandits? Hmm...probably, but I might be wrong." It felt good to know those soldiers were doing their job protecting this region from banditry. Lynessa had seen enough crimes and injustices happened to the victims of banditry so she always felt happy when the soldiers caught those criminals.
Lynessa wasn't paying attention when two of the routed bandits ran to her direction with a few soldiers pursuing them. They had spotted her, a woman standing alone in this dangerous field, and planned to use her as hostage. They were already too close when the ice dragon realized that they were coming for her. Should have realized them sooner. She didn't have time to resist when one of them grabbed her and pointed his sword on her neck. "Don't move! A wrong step and I will kill this woman!" he threatened the pursuing soldiers.
"Bandits...I am sure of it. Oh Roy...This looks bad. I shouldn't have come here...." she thought.

"Stop!" He reacted instantly, almost in a knee-jerk reaction. His eyes shot open wide as the man pressed his blade close the the woman in his arms. A hostage was it? Despicable. Any guilt he might have had over killing these bandits evaporated right on the spot. To be honest, he had a thousand different plans for what to do when someone was taken hostage. He couldn't remember any of them. It was just something about it, something about the act, it really messed him up. He commanded his knights to stop, and they did, this wasn't the first time this sort of thing happened. Bandits were the type of scum to keep hostages all the time, and as a result this wasn't the first time they've had to deal with their Knight-Commanders' almost baffled reaction to it.
How did you deal with a situation like this? Oh gosh, c'mon Merio. You can negotiate with bandits, but he refused to let an innocent bystander get harmed in a situation like this. Dammit, this is why he went and talked to the old man in the first place to avoid a situation like this! It happened anyways so all he could do was calm himself down and try to deal with it the best he could. They were in an open field, so that meant sneaking up on them was out of the question. An archer could take a shot, but it would be the end of the hostage if they notice or it misses. The bandit stronghold was almost entirely cleared out by this point, so really these two bandits just wanted to escape alive.
"Alright, alright. Let's... Calm down." He took a deep breath. "Let her go." They wouldn't kill her so quickly, she was there only bargaining chip. Without her they were out of luck.

Perun heard some massive commotion away from the battle. He whipped himself around to see the commotion, and saw that it was a woman taken hostage by a pair of the bandits. Perun breathed angrily through his nose. Taking a hostage had no minuscule amount of honor. Perun felt a duty to kill these men, he drew an arrow, and notched it to his bow. He didn't take aim, he'd wait to see how the scene played out.

"It is time to bring the winter", spoke Djoser as he began to chant a magical spell. The sages pupils vanished for a moment. A cold chill began to fill the air as the old sage drew forth the full power of his tome For a moment Djoser floated in the air as dazzling light swirled around him. Water from the air began to gather as Djoser lunched a a solid pillar of ice lunched through the air and slammed into the bandit forces. The attack caused the ice to shatter cutting deep into the enemies flesh not only wounding them, but dropping there tempeture dramatically.
Tired and Exhausted Djoser fell to the ground. The old man could barely stand after that attack. He had placed a lot of magical power into it and was well beyond his limits. "Well I think I will cool my jets for a while", spoke the old man as he took a seat into the grass. Lucky for him the knights had done a good job of cleaning up the bandits so there was little to worry about in way of enemies.

The two bandits were in panic but they seemed to feel to have advantage when the knight-commander called his soldiers to stop. Having hostage was very helpful indeed! One of them was holding Lynessa from behind, placing his sword across her neck carefully, and the other one stood next to his comrade with a bloody axe in his hand. "No way!" they shouted almost in unison, glaring at the knights. "You are going to kill us if we let her go! L-Like how you slaughtered our comrades!" one of them yelled at Merio and then cursed him with 1001 insults, even insulting his mustache. "Wow....I am amazed by how you could think that many insults in a short time," Lynessa remarked casually, not showing any hint of fear in her expression. "Shut up! the thug who holding her reprimanded the ice dragon as he pushed the blade closer to her neck, drawing some blood. "Me and my big mouth...." she thought.
Lynessa realized that these criminals were underestimating her. Them not knowing that she was a dragon was their downfall. That would be nice but....how should she fight back in her current situation? There was too many spectators to do something fancy like transformin into a huge dragon and eat the bandits. "We will release her when we are pretty far from here and can't see you again. Don't you dare to follow us!" The bandits then began to move away from their pursuers, walking backwards and watching the paladin with great caution. Of course they weren't planning to uphold their promise, and Lynessa knew that.
"Sorry....But I can't go with you. But won't let you escape either," she said, sighing. Both bandits were taken aback by their hostage boldness, having expected her to stay docile under their threat. Lynessa drew some power from her dragonstone, resulting to some subtle change in her facial feature, like how her eyes turning into more reptilian like and her nails turning into claws. The change was so subtle that Merio, Perrun, Djoser, and the others would probably miss it unless they had exceptional eyesight. Now she got increased strength and agility from the partial transforming. The ice dragon slammed her head backward to the bandit's face, breaking his nose with that blow. After making him suffering painful nosebleed, she grabbed his sword arm and punched the elbow from below, making a painful sound when the bone and the joint got crushed. The violet-haired woman then freed herself from his grasp and pushed the unfortunate man down to the ground.
The other bandit seemed surprised by the unexpected as he moved away from the superwoman. But then he seemed to lose his mind after seeing his friend got beaten like that. So instead of using this chance to escape alone, he slowly approached Lynessa from behind as he raised his bloody axe, aiming for the dragon's head.

How rude, it is one thing to insult a man's honor, but it is unthinkable to attack his mustache. Such incorrigible men these were. He frowned a bit, but didn't respond to the bandit's attempts to rile him up. To be honest most of his insults went by so fast and so badly put together it was much more like he just strung together a thousand curse words then anything truly hurtful. "I can't let you go with her, you should realize that. You aren't idiots, you must understand this situation." He spoke calmly to them, trying to reason with them. A poor idea probably, but it was all he had. "If you let her go, I promise on my word as Knight-Captian Merio Calderon that I will allow you to leave safely, on the condition you don't return." He spoke with measured, even words. He was a man of his word, he would allow them safe passage if they accepted. Of course they probably wouldn't, they never do. Still he wouldn't allow an innocent woman to be harmed simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The man didn't really have a chance to respond however, before she smashed his face in and proved that she wasn't really just an innocent bystander and had enough strength that Merio looked like a child in comparison. It was surprising, but the paladin didn't waste time being taken aback, and as soon as he saw she wasn't in danger of a swift and gruesome end he drew his blade and snapped the reins of his steed, galloping forward at high speeds. While she was mauling the one that had taken her hostage, the other attempted to strike her down. A gesture that didn't go anywhere as Merio swooped by and dove his longsword into the bandit's neck, the momentum of his steed along with the force of his blow cause the man's corpse to drag along the ground as it

Perun's thick eyebrows rose like waves on his brow. The girl didn't look like much, she was definitely smaller than the two brigands who accosted her, so the burly northerner was surprised to see her break out of the hold one man had on her with a well placed headbutt. Watching as this strange woman took out his comrade, the other bandit raised his weapon to attack. Perun lifted his bow, pulling back the string, but realized it was pointless. He lowered his bow as the Paladin pierced the bandit, which the northerner believed accounted for all the bandits. Perun delicately slid his arrow back into his quiver. Perun quickly broke into a jog towards the mystery woman.
Perun slowed to a stop a few feet in front of her, and as he placed his bow over his shoulder, he spoke, "Are you being okay? Perun is hope that you are not hurt, but that you were able to get away from bandit is most impressive." Perun tugged on his mustache. It was very bizarre, he was typically very good at sizing up the hidden strength of someone, often people with muscles weren't as strong as they looked, and vice versa. However, this woman was much too strong for her form, and it was off. The northerner also believed he saw something odd about her face as he'd ran towards her.

What in the world, thought Djoser to himself. There was a sudden spike in magical energy coming from a area near him. Djoser turned and looked at the woman. He could not tell what she was doing, bad eyesight, but he could feel that something was amidst. There was a sudden release in magical energy that other people probably would miss, but Djoser was a Sage after all. Still it was not too surmising. A person not carrying a weapon would more than likely be a mage. Still that sudden boost of strength was quite weird.
"My word so the Invalid spell finally came back into fashion", spoke Djoser aloud. The other knights looked at him with confusion as they knew not of this Invalid nor did they really understood what he was talking about. For Djoser however it was like having a White Christmas all over again. It had been so long since he has seen that spell. Though in truth he kind of wondered why did it disappear in the first place. I mean, who would not want super strength, super speed, and barriers. It was like being a frost giant with less frost, which was a bad thing in Djoser book the more frost the better. Still he thought it was a dead art, but it seems to live on. "Well I guess I can't just let this pass", spoke the sage as he formed two long whips of water. The whips lashed out and wrapped themselves around the two bandits, the one Djoser was sure was dead, but he wrapped him up just in case, and the one that took a blow to the face. Once the water was around the two bodies nice and tight Djoser froze it instantly binding the man, and the corpse.
"Never can be too careful with a corpse", spoke Djoser.

Lynessa didn't fail to notice that the knight-commander rode toward her in terrifying pace. It surprised the dragon, who almost mistook his attempt to save her as danger. How the bandit behind her met his quick death had almost no effect to her, no pity, happiness, or anger. She preferred to disable the bandits but unfortunately Merio had decided to choose the easier route, which was killing the criminal with a swift stab. Not that she was totally against it, she wasn't that naive to forget that this place was a battlefield. The red knight simply did what he had to. Maybe the soldiers never intended to just capture them from the beginning, which actually was very understandable. Also, capturing criminals required twice of the effort and the risk compared to killing them, and after that the "good guy" would have to pay for the cost of imprisoning them like foods and water for prisoners, not every country could accomodate that. Anyway, Merio had saved her life so she had to thank him.
The other bandit was still alive but he was suffering from the pain of his broken nose and broken arm, this guy probably wouldn't be able to harm anyone in his current state. There was no need to keep this half-form any longer, especially when there was a risk the knight and the bearded man might notice her transformation. Cancelling it was easy, Lynessa simply thought to revert to human form, sending the magical energy back to her dragonstone.
Lynessa turned to Perrun and answered him with a smile. She looked at his attire and the guessed that he wasn't a soldier. Maybe a mercenary or volunteer? "Thank you. I am perfectly alright," she replied. "I was just lucky. And uuh....I know some martial art." Okay, maybe she showed more strength than she had planned. It might be bad if she didn't quickly say something reasonable to them. It was unlikely they would discover her true identity easily but being too careful wouldn't hurt. "I would have failed if the soldiers and that brave knight didn't divert their attention," she said again, chuckling.
Merio was a little further so Lynessa had to raise her voice a little, "You have my gratitude, Sir. You truly saved my life." Lynessa smiled brightly to the mustache knight as she spoke.

"I'm not too surprised actually, I've met plenty of strong women in my days. I know at least one woman who could floor me in an arm wrestling match." Of course Saffra was a dragon, which was kind of an unfair advantage if there ever was one. Merio came slowly trotting back to the woman, feeling a bit disgraced at the whole situation but there was quite truly nothing he could do about it. He was grateful she managed to get out of the situation unharmed, but he cursing himself for letting it happen in the first place. He should have DOUBLE CHECKED the area before fighting! He always double checks! He was distracted this time because of the two others, but he should have KNOWN it always comes in threes. It always does. Damnit. He wasn't prepared. He would have to draft up some new plans when he returned home.
Still even as he mentally scolded himself, he grinned a calm gentle smile. He looked unthreatening in general, many people actually thought he looked kind of silly, which didn't cut his pride so deep. Well it doesn't any more at least. He wanted to appear approachable, and he didn't mind when children giggled and pulled at his hair, he found it cute. Ah... he wanted a daughter one day. Now's not the time Merio. Instead he turned his head to the woman, looking at the area out of the corner of his eyes. He was scanning the field for more bandits, he looked down at the man being frozen in place with frosty magic and wanted to sigh. He didn't, but it should be noted he wanted to. He's brought back prisoners before, people didn't really like it actually. When bandits made moves to involve innocent folk and try to hold them hostage, he didn't particularly lose sleep over slaying them. Still they were human beings, and they deserved a chance to surrender. One he would take if they offered. Many didn't feel the same way however. At first he tried his best to capture everyone, but it was impossible, they never did. He let too many flee while he tried to subdue the others.... It never ended well. Unfortunate, but true.
The woman was pleasant and seemed kind, and also was kinda cute. Of course she was probably already married, they always tended to be. Even if she wasn't there was few the went after a man like him, a fact he was simply going to have to get used to. Once again however, now's not the time Merio. "Think nothing of it, it's my duty to protect those who come to Tania. I do apologize for allowing you to get wrapped up in this whole mess. It is an embarassment to be sure." As he came closer he hopped off the side of his horse, reaching into the saddlebags and pulling out a rope. He was prepared for this.
He bent down to the bandit's face, looking him in the eyes. "Do you surrender and submit yourself to the justice decided upon you by the territory of Tania?" He asked the bound man, he simply spat blood in his face. "Splendid." He said with a grin as if that hadn't just happened. "I hereby arrest you in the name of Tania." He said, roughly handling the frozen man. He was mostly bound by the ice, but he managed to wrap the man up nice and tight with the rope as some knights came up to him. "Johnson, we have a prisoner. Makes sure he sees his way to Tania to see justice served." The knight on the left, a man clad in red like his leader, nodded as he and another knight worked on apprehending the man for transport back to the city.
He turned back to his horse, grabbing a handkerchief that was completely clean and well pressed from his things, wiping the smear of blood on his face where the man had spit at him with a slightly grossed out look. He looked at the woman with an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry for the trouble my lady. Allow me to escort you to town, so that you see your way there safely." He turned to the other two, not forgetting them. "You two are welcome to come as well, or go about your way. I'm sure the roads should be safe for now, I'll have a few of my men patrol them to make sure however. If you do wish to return to Tania, I'll be sure to buy you a nice warm meal as a show of thanks for your help." He offered to the two as a gesture of goodwill. He knew little of Perun, but Djoser appeared to be in some sort of hurry. Perun looked like a man who could EAT though, she he was almost hoping he declined. If only for his purse's sake. There is no chance in the hells he would turn the man down if he did decide to come however. He was as good as his word, and his word was steel.

Perun nodded furiously, "Perun has met strong vomen but they did not look like her. Much bigger yes?" Perun listened half interested as the knight and the strange woman discussed the logistics of the man's job. Perun fingered the handle of his axe. Then the knight in scarlet mentioned an offer of a meal, and Perun perked up. The offer of food was not one that he'd turn down. "Oh yes! Perun would like to eat much food after hard day of travel and bettle. Perun is big eater though, so I don't think you would want pay for him." Perun turned and walked toward the banditcicle. The man was being dragged away. Perun shook his head. Execution always upset him. It was annex concept for Perun, his people hadn't believed in killing someone unless they could hold a weapon or it was in retaliation for some personal transgression.
Perun turned and walked back towards his new companions. Maybe the bandits actions were seen as a transgression here. The outside world was strange, but Perun hoped the man would still have a chance at whatever afterlife his people had. Perun's eyebrows knit together, or not. These people were different from Perun's. Redemption came through putting down the sword, not picking it up. Here people saw stealing as a crime that actually made one evil. Perun crossed his arms and looked at the night, the stranger, and the old man. He wondered if these people were the type to condemn someone for an act as small as stealing. The knight probably would.

"Well I think it is about time for me to go youngins", spoke Djoser as he looked them all over. "It was fun showing you all how your elders fight, but I really need to get to Ostia. I heard the place went up in boom of fire and smoke and wanted to see it for myself. Though it is kind of ironic that Ostia was destroyed with fire. I always figured it would be destroyed by a blizzard or a ice storm. Back in my day all the wizards and mages use to favor Fimbulvetr. There was this guy who use to be called the White Wizard. Ever since he started using it as his main form of attack almost every mage in Lycia wanted to use it. It was a cool time to be alive. Everything was chill and the summers were bearable. Well look at me rambling on. I have to admit I have been devoid of conversation for a while and thus I tend to talk a bit too much. So if you all don't mind I will be taking my leave", spoke the old man as he began to walk the opposite way back to Tania. "Stay cool youngins stay cool"."
Over the years Djoser sense of direction was lost in Lycia. He kept trying to travel by memories that were many years old and would always get turned around at this bush or that bush. Still Djoser would reach his location eventually. If would have to be a cold day in hell for Djoser to give up on his objective. All it takes is a bit of determination and a bit of directions. Djoser will was solid as Ice.
