The party never ends, party people!
After much discussion, our staff has decided to rework our exotic weapon system. We understand that not everyone will be happy with this change, but understand that the system was implemented recently and still being field tested. We believe that the changes we are making are what is best for the fairness, robustness, and longevity of the exotic weapon system.
To start off, our sword/axe/lance system is being expanded to blades/bludgeons/polearms, though the names will remain the same to accommodate newcomers to the board. What does this mean? Well, it means that players can get more creative with their weapons without expending the extra cash. Classes that can wield swords will now be able to wield any type of blade, such as knives or katanas; classes that wield lances can now wield a variety of polearms, such as halberds and partisans; and classes that wield axes can now wield any type of bludgeon, such as maces and picks.
Thus we ask the question, what is an exotic weapon? The general rule of thumb is that an exotic weapon is any of the following:
-A weapon possessing a chain
-A weapon with multiple ends or heads
-A weapon with hidden functionality
-A weapon with an irregularly shaped blade or head
If you don’t know whether a weapon should be considered exotic or not, POST IT IN THIS THREAD. We will answer your question here in an edit. This will create a reference for new players looking to answer the same questions.
So how do you go about getting one of these cool exotic weapons? First, you buy an exotic seal, which is now worth 500 gold, and instead of it giving you the ability to purchase six different weapons as it does now, this more expensive exotic seal will now now allow you to wield any exotic type weapon as long as it falls within your weapon class.
How does this work? Upon purchasing any weapon after buying the exotic seal, you have the choice to make that weapon an exotic one. This applies to any weapon whether it be iron, silver, or magic.
For example, if I am a knight that has purchased an exotic seal, and am purchasing a Silver Lance, I can now choose to make that lance a scythe, as scythes fall into the exotic polearms category. Another example would be if I was a rogue with an exotic seal who wanted a sickle with no special properties, I could simply buy an Iron Sword for free, as sickles are exotic swords.
Also, to accommodate for exotic weapons that do not fall into any category, the following will be purchasable in the store:
-Whips
-Claw weapons
-Rods
In addition to being usable by all classes, these exotic weapons will all be purchasable for 200 gold.
Last but not least, due to these changes were adding a dragon only item called the “Weapon Seal”. This item will cost 500 gold, and will allow dragons to use silver weapons, which they will have to purchase at 1000 gold. Like everyone else, they will need to expend an extra 500 gold for exotic weapons.
Starting now, all exotic seals and exotic weapons are being refunded. Please understand that due to both the removal of all current exotic weapons as well as the mass proliferation of exotic seals and weapons, grandfathering is not an option. We realize that people have referenced these weapons in their posts, and we apologize for the inconvenience, but this is the decision the staff has made.
I will not be changing the price on exotic seals until I have finished editing everyone’s inventories and gold. If your exotic seal is missing, DO NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE UNTIL THE PRICE HAS CHANGED. I will be double checking.
Also, on a final note, steel weapons are being removed from the shop due to their functional irrelevance. Along with this change, silver weapons now receive a special attribute in that they are extra-effective against undead.
If you have any questions, please consult the mods.
